Night had finally fallen. And all around her, she picked up the sound of awaking creatures with her sensitive ears. She gingerly trotted deeper into the forest, making sure to keep a lookout for enemies. Officially, she was on guard duty along with some of the others. Unofficially, she was off to the nearby lake for some quiet time alone.
The full moon hung low, casting silver rays onto the surface of the waters. Edging slightly towards the edge, she dipped a hoof into the still liquid & watched the ripples extend ring after ring outwards. The night was clear, a cluster of stars peeked out from behind the passing cloud. Stargazing had always been the area of expertise for centaurs. Although her kind had been taught astronomy, they had taken the stars as nothing more than guiding lights or astral compasses. Never to the extend of predicting the future.
"…We're going to have a tough fight tomorrow," the deep throaty voice that was distinctly the Keeper of the Grove's. Anubris, their Keeper of the day had managed to sneak up to her undetected.
"Nice evening to you too, Anubris," she answered cheerfully. He chuckled, returning his gaze to the stars.
"What are you doing here alone my Dryad sister? Skiving from your night duties again?"
"Oh no no no… I was just out for a little walk," she gave a small smile. "There never was enough time to truly appreciate the beauty of this land."
"Ah I see…" he gave an approving nod.
"So? What made you say we're going to have a tough fight tomorrow anyways, my Groovy brother," she winked, quickly diverting attention back to him.
"Yes… well, the fire planet had entered the…" As he spoke on, she, the nameless Dryad of the Night Elf Sentinel, listened attentively to the private divination lesson Anubris was giving, thankful for his time & awareness to her despite her original wish to be alone.
