"Hey, where's my mug?"
Greg looked around the break-room before his eyes settled on the object. He reached for it and as he picked it up he noticed a single piece of paper near by.
"Hey Greg, what you got there?" Nick was referring to the paper that was now in his hand.
"Don't know," he turned it over so that the writing faced him. " 'To Bossy Man, just a note to say thanks for the flowers and the card as well as the dinner invitation. See you tonight- Spider women,' Greg read aloud.
Warrick laughed at the note as well as the other two males in the room.
Just then Sara entered, "Hey guys, what's so funny?"
Greg held out the letter so she could look over it, before long Sara joined them in their fits of laughter.
Between the mirth she managed to spit out, "Well, you know what it is- it's a love note."
"I wonder who's it is to?"
"I wonder who it is from," Greg said. "You know if it had been signed Spider man, I would have put my money on Nicky or Grissom."
"Hey!"
The laughter court them up again.
"Grissom- with a love interest!?!" Sara questioned sarcastically.
"Now that is funny!"
"Ok then, if it's not Grissom, it must be Nick," Greg exclaimed.
"Hey, just wait a second. You have no proof and it's no way in hell is me! Who would I be going out with in this office to write me such a thing?"
Greg automatically looked towards Sara.
"Hah, no way, not in this life time or the next!" Nick gave her a pathetic hurt look. "Sorry Nicky, but you've like a brother to me, and any more would just be gross!" He nodded at this and gave her a smile, which she returned. "Besides, I think its Catharine to Grissom. I mean look, they're the only ones not here and they do seam to have more than just a friendly relationship."
The men sat silently for a couple of minuets considering the possibility.
"Nah, that's just wrong," Nick stated. "Any way, we're CSIs, plus lab rat."
"Thank you for remembering."
"We should be able to work this out. Sara, who does that handwriting match?"
"Don't know. It's all written in a strange curly hand, nothing I've seen before."
"Well," started Warrick. "It has to be one of us, other wise it wouldn't be in here."
"What wouldn't be in here?"
Grissom entered the room closely followed by Catherine. Greg gave them a suspicious look before nodding to Sara to show them the note. After reading it the two senior CSIs gave each other a strange look.
"Who's is it?" Catherine asked.
"I was hoping that you could tell us," Greg said smoothly.
"Beats me."
"I don't think we should be reading other peoples personal notes," Grissom started.
"Ah! They didn't deny it." Greg jumped off the sofa and pointed at them as if that was some kind of proof. "I mean lets think of the clues. 1) 'Bossy man'- Grissom is our boss who is naturally bossy. 2) 'Spider Women'- That's the sort of pet name Griss would give his girlfriend..."
"Fiancée," Grissom corrected.
"What?"
There was shock all around the room at this statement.
"It was a joke," he explained.
There was even more shock- Grissom had a sense of humour!?!
"Never mind!"
"Um... Yes," Warrick began cautiously. "You know we could just check the damn thing for fingerprints, as Sara said earlier, we are CSIs."
They thought this through before going to leave the room in hast, all accept Grissom and Catherine that is.
"Do you think we should stop them or just tell them?"
"They where going to find out sooner or later," Catherine said calmly.
She dug into her pocket and pulled out the engagement ring, gazed at it before slipping it on.
"See you to night?"
"You bet!"
