Undisturbed Silence

Hermione was sitting in the library again. She had a large book in her hand, "The Lost Wizard or Witch: Charms for Finding the Way." Once again, Hermione realized she could not completely abandon her love for books as she was reading one for fun. A picture on the page showed a witch who was using her wand as a compass. A speech bubble appeared next to her with the words "Point Me."

Footsteps sounded from beyond the book and Hermione looked up slightly from her reading. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Krum. He was here again for some reason or another, probably trying to find a book. Yet, the arrival of Krum in the library resulted in disturbing the silence Hermione valued. Her eyes flickered over to the bookshelves behind Krum and sure enough, she spotted a couple of witches giggling behind the shelf. Krum ignored the small sniggers coming from behind the shelves and was apparently reading a book. He looked slightly peeved and put his head closer into the article he was reading.

Sitting there, Hermione felt slightly sorry for Krum. "He probably came into the library to look for peace and quiet as well." Hermione thought, biting her lip. Her eyes slowly panned to the bottom of the page. "Alievoco" the spell said. Hermione read on. "This spell allows a rough map to be drawn on a parchment to destination specified." The picture showed a wand being tapped on a piece of parchment and a map appearing on it. Hermione thought for a brief moment and reached into her bookbag. She found a brand new piece of parchment and laid it in front of her; using the book to obstruct her secret. Safely behind her book, Hermione took out her wand and pointed the tip to the middle of the parchment. She whispered some words. Sure enough, ink lines began to appear on the parchment. The lines spread out, drawing rooms and hallways. Hermione studied the map, and indeed it lead to exactly were she wanted it to go. She took out her quill and jotted down "Map to Krum's Dormitory." Satisfied with the product, Hermione rolled up her scroll and sent it across the room using a charm. She now hid behind her book, listening to the results of the experiment.

A few moments later, the giggling resided. The older girls had obviously found the map and were looking it over. One of them suddenly gasped. Hermione tensely crossed her fingers, hoping. Then, there was a shuffling of feet. Unable to resist the urge, Hermione put down her book. She saw the group of girls exit the library. One of the lead girls was pointing excitedly at the parchment and pointed down the hall. Soon, their footsteps faded down the hall.

Hermione grinned, thinking what those six-years had in store for them. Well, Sir Cadogan had asked for someone to visit him in that remote hallway near the Astronomy Tower. Hermione shook her head chuckling at where the girls would find themselves. She glanced over at Krum. He had seen the girls leave as well and gave a small wave of thanks. Hermione returned to her book smiling, as the silence she valued once again returned.
