Faces

Rated: PG
Pairing: Catherine/Sara
Spoilers: Justice is Served

"You okay?" You ask, voice steady, looking down at the body in front of you. You can hear that voice in your head, the one that's telling you to remain level headed, and objective.
You know she's not. She tries to hide it, but you see the haunted look in her eyes. The pain.
"Sara, why don't you find the mother, talk to her. I'll take the crime scene," she tells you, desperately trying to keep her anger, her frustration, at bay.
She's erecting invisible walls...gathering defenses, her protection from the faces that plagued her subconscious. Catherine won't even meet your eyes. Her wide irises clear blue, and brimming with tears as they dart around the scene.
You want to hold her. Want to make her pain go away. Eradicate the faces that would keep her up tonight.
Sandi Dantini's face, with all the innocence of six-year-old girl; morphing into something else entirely...
Her daughter, Lindsey.
