pThe phone rang. "Hello, Devil Never Cry, Edmond Speaking...
Dante?... He's not in right now.. Sure... Okay I'll have him call you."
With a sigh, Edmond replaced the receiver. 'Wow,' he thought to himself,
'I'm twenty-five and dad still makes me man the phone. When is he gonna let
me do something exciting,'
pAgain the phone rang. "Hello, Devil Never Cry,"
p"Edmond?"
p"Mom? What is it?"
p"We've run into some trouble, and your father and I need some help... I wouldn't ask you to do this if this wasn't an emergency. You know where we are, grab somethings and come take my motorcycle," There was a click as the call ended. Putting down the phone Edmond went to put on his trenchcoat. This done he grabbed his handguns and pulled Alastor off the wall. "Thank God dad doesn't use this baby anymore,"
pEdmond proceeded down the steps to the garage and mounted the motorcycle inside. Turning it on he pealed out of the garage toward a nearby cemetary. 'I hope there are no cops out,' he thought to himself as he accelerated past sixty, 'There it is,' Skidding to a halt Edmond leapt off of the motor cycle and pulled his handguns.
P"Mom? Dad?" There was no response. Edmond started to run through the cemetery. All around him it was dark. The moon was mostly obscured by clouds and so very little light played over the tombstones. Suddenly, he heard loud noises and so, naturaly he ran off in that direction. Coming up to a Mausoleum he saw Dante engaged in combat with a very large marionette. Entering the room Edmond saw that their were demon corpses scattered about.
p"Dad!"
pDante glanced quickly at Edmond. "Edmond, your mother's in the corner. Go help her." pTravarsing the carnage, Edmond found Trish crumpled against a wall.
p"Mom? Mom?!" There was no response. Edmond nervously put his fingers to her throat, and was greatly relieved when he felt a pulse.
p"Come on Mom... You need to get to hospital." Picking up Trish, Edmond started off toward the motorcycle. Meanwhile Dante was still engaged with the marionette. With inhuman speed the Marionette flew at Dante. Rolling to the side, Dante just dodge a fatal blow. The moment he came to his feet he had Ebony and Ivory set on the Demon.
p"Goodnight," said Dante as he fired off a few rounds. With a roar the marionette colappsed. Dante knelt down and placing his gun to the downed demon's head, fired off one more shot. Then getting up he ran after Edmond.
p"Edmond, we need to get out of here now." pAs Dante, Edmond, and Trish fled the scene, darkness began to encompass the mausoleum and a quiet maniacal laugh echoed across the cemetary.p * * *
pIn a hospital waiting room, Dante and Edmond sat talking.
p"What was that Dad?" "
pIt seemed at first like a Marionette, but it was too powerful to be something that weak. I think Mundus is somehow trying to come back."
p"Mundus?"
p"The Demon Lord. I defeated him a while back."
p"Oh.."
pThen a doctor walked in. He looked down at his chart, "Dante?" Dante stood, "Yes, that's me."
p"Dante, your wife is in stable condition... but she seems to be in a coma."
pDante's eyes at the same time took on a look of sadness and anger, "Are you sure."
p"Unfortunately, yes. If you want you and your son can come in and see her."
pMaking their way into the room, Dante and Edmond looked at Trish. Dante turned to Edmond, "Edmond... We need to get home... theirs some business we need to attend to..." Edmond took one more look at his mother, "Okay dad,"
