Both are shy and kind of nerds and have big troubles finding a girlfriend. However, fate has big plans for them; let's find out how this works out. AU, with references to the real story.

After her father dies of black lung disease and her mother sinks into depression, Katniss is forced to do the unthinkable in order to keep her younger siblings alive and out of the community home. Now, with the unexpected help of the baker's youngest son, she has to figure out how to go from just surviving to thriving in poverty-stricken Twelve. In Panem AU.

Katniss returns home after her mom died. She finds a picture of Peeta Mellark, a younger man (only 10 years older than Katniss), with whom her mother had a short affair ... A series of letters chronicling the love story of Katniss and Peeta as they try to resolve their stalled relationship. This fic is complete, and I'll be updating it at least weekly.

There's always more to the game than merely playing by the rules; that's why Career districts win the Hunger Games so often. Even for them, however, nothing is ever guaranteed.

There are always those that are burdened with memories. They can never forget those that are gone. But even if they aren't ready, the cycle is about to start all over again. The 124th Hunger Games is just around the corner, and there's no telling what that could mean for Panem.
