Arceaion: Hello Everyone and welcome to the updated version of my story Angel of the Underground. I've combined a few chapters and expanded on a lot of things so I hope you enjoy this redo of my story!
Long ago, two races ruled over Earth; Humans and Monsters. One day, war broke out between the two races. After a long battle, the humans were victorious and sealed the monsters underground with a magic spell.
Many years later a Human child fell into the underground and so began their grand adventure; the Human showed kindness to the monsters and soon they stood before the King of Monster, though the King attacked with all his might the Determination of the Human was greater than the Kings and and so he fell to the Human child but as the King knelt awaiting death to take him he found it did not come. Instead he felt the child's arms around him; the King promised to love the child as if they were his own, however before he might fulfill this promise he was struck down by a horrible creature with no soul. The child fought the creature and defeated it, saving the King's life before with a heavy heart they passed through the Barrier and disappeared from the underground... but the child would not be gone forever.
-Mt. Ebott fifteen years later-
A lone woman stood at the mouth of a deep hole within a cave, the entrance to the Underground, the woman wore a dark blue sweater with a pair of brown jeans under a black trench coat with the deltarune embroidered on both the shoulders and chest above her heart, a long tattered red scarf was wrapped around her neck flowing all the way down to the small of her back, a pair of fingerless gloves decorated her hands and an old worn blueish purple plain baseball cap with no logo on it covered her head allowing the long brown hair that was pulled back with a simple blue hair tie to fall free down the middle of her back racing almost as far as her scarf. It had been fifteen years since she had been here and this time she would not fail; she would save all the Monsters from being trapped and this time if that damn flower got in her way… well let's just say that no matter who they truly were they would be in for a very, very, bad time. Frisk grinned as without any hesitation she took a step forward and fell into the Underground; a tingle covering her skin as she fell, the feeling of magic filling her before she fainted.
Frisk groaned as she awoke on a patch of golden flowers that had cushioned her fall and smiled as she sat up and looked around. "I'm back." She said with a sigh as she got to her feet and walked forward only for a flower to pop out of the ground.
"Howdy, I'm Flowey! " The flower said with a friendly smile. "Flowey the... Flower… y-y-you!" Flowey's friendly smile turned nervous as they at last noticed it was Frisk staring down at them. "Oh… hey… i-it's y-you. So h-how ya been?" Flowey asked.
"Flowey, just the monster I wanted to talk to first." Frisk said as she knelt down, her smile becoming forced as she reached out for the flower causing Flowey to yelp and tried to dive under the ground only for Frisk to move faster and grab his stem, pulling him up with a surprising amount of strength and getting him to freeze in fear of being uprooted. "Let's get one thing straight you little weed, things are going to be different this time around." Frisk said in a cold voice. "I'm getting everyone out and if you even consider laying one petal on a single monster you are going to find yourself having a very bad time. Do I make myself clear, Flowey?" Frisk asked him, causing the flower to nod quickly. Frisk smiled, letting the flower go and began to walk down the corridor that led to the entrance of the runes. As Frisk enters the room where she had first seen the SAVE points she smiles and looks at the old tree with red leaves that stood at the center of the room. As she looks at the tree she remembers something Toriel had told them during one of the few outings they had gone on during their far too brief time together.
Frisk stood looking at the tree as Toriel walked over to them. "You seem to really enjoy this tree, my child. Do they not have them on the surface? She asked, causing Frisk to shake her head earning a sigh from the motherly goat monster. "No, I suppose that they wouldn't be." Toriel replied sadly before smiling at them. "Did you know that the tree's leaves will never stay on for more than a few days but it will always have leaves on its limbs no matter what season it is?" Toriel asked, causing Frisk to look at her to see if she was being serious. Toriel smiled down at them before she walked over to the tree and reached into the branches pulling something from within its canopy out. "My child, I want you to have this." She said as she walked up to Frisk and knelt down and placed a seed in their hands. "Perhaps one day you can plant this on the surface and they can grow there again." Toriel said, causing Frisk to smile and hug Toriel. "Thank you mom." Frisk said making Toriel stiffen before smiling, a single tear falling from her eye.
As the memory fades, Frisk opens her eyes, tears falling from them, as she places her hand on the worn tree; that had been the second and last time she had called Toriel mom. Frisk ran her hand over the bark of the tree and smiled, after she had returned to the surface she had returned to the orphanage and chosen to focus heavily on her schooling. She had studied law, and history looking for ways to free the Monsters ,after she had gotten her degree she had moved on to learn everything she could about her Souls Magic and mastering it while also searching for information on the Barrier so she could break it. She'd spent ten years in school and had traveled the world for three before she finally settled down and bought the land around Mt. Ebott, her research having garnered quite a significant amount of attention from the government and several private institutions allowing her to receive significant grants and funding. After building a home for herself and the Monsters she had promised herself to save, she had planted the seed in the front of the house allowing it to sprout. Frisk sighed and walked over to the glowing SAVE point, She had stayed here long enough and she quickly saved before walking up the stairs. *The thought of freeing the Monsters filled Frisk with DETERMINATION.
