I got a new story! It's going to be a very fluffy one for sure!

Prompto was just laying around on the couch. He had just finished a round of King's Knight with Noctis, and had texted to him that he was going to take a break to eat some dinner. Now taking the time to get food and eat, he let the quietness of his house sink in again. As usual he was left alone, with his parents nowhere in sight of ever returning.

It was almost five months now since they had left for their business trip, and Prompto had just given up waiting to hear from them. He had maybe only gotten a call three or four times within the first two months, and he at this point figured they weren't going to call again anytime soon.

Shaking his head, he tried to push away those thoughts. He wasn't completely alone. He had Noctis to talk to and visit whenever the lonely got bad. He knew he could trust Noctis to be there for him, even if it wasn't all the time.

Suddenly he heard a knock on his door. He turned his head and looked in the direction of the front door, wondering who would show up this late at night. Carefully, he stood up and slowly started making his way to the door, the questions in his head beginning to turn.

Who would be here so late at night?

He didn't order anything recently, so it wasn't a package.

And he knew that Noctis wouldn't just show up right after having a gaming session.

"What if it's a burglar? But why would they be knocking on the door," Prompto thought as he reached out to grab the door handle.

Taking in a breath, he unlocked the door and opened it up. "Hello?"

Looking around he didn't see anyone nearby, now leading him to believe maybe he was just being pranked. He was just about to close the door when he decided to look down… and that was where his mouth dropped open.

Just in front of his door was a little car seat for a baby, with an actual baby sleeping inside!

"What the hell!?" Prompto asked aloud. He stepped outside of the house and began to look around again. "Hello!? Anyone out there?"

He waited a few moments before he started to hear the small gurgles of the baby behind him. He turned around and picked up the carrier, and brought it inside. Even if the parents were out there somewhere, he wasn't about to let the baby get cold from the night time winds.

Bringing the carrier over to the table, he placed it down and looked at the little baby sitting inside. Their eyes were open and wide, staring right at Prompto and then the baby reached out its little arms and started babbling.

"Huh? You want something, little baby?" Prompto asked.

As he looked at the carrier, he noticed an envelope to the side of the baby. He took that out first and looked inside, seeing that it was filled with papers. His heart sank a little when he took them out to see that it was information about the baby, from medical records to even the birth certificate.

According to the papers, the baby was a girl named Scarlet and was about 8 month old. All the information about the parents though had been cut out or even blacked out from the records. Putting the papers down, Prompto sighed as he looked at Scarlet.

"What makes parents not wanna be there for their kids?" he asked her. Slowly he reached into the carrier and unbuckled her from the seat. "You seem like a perfect little baby, so why would they just give you up? I mean… if I'm one to talk, my parents are just as bad."

Moving to the chair he sat down and positioned the baby in his lap, with her facing him. "So uh, hi Scarlet?"

Scarlet giggled as she reached forward towards Prompto, clapping her hands together. Prompto couldn't help but smile at her, his heart warming up real easily. "Aw you are just so cute. You are the cutest aren't you!"

Scarlet made another happy giggle.

"Yes you know you are so cute!" Prompto said as he leaned in closer to her.

With a wide grin, Scarlet reached with one had and started to pull on the longest strands of Prompto's hair. He carefully reached with one hand and tried to get her to let go. "Ow ow! Okay. You like my hair. Thank you. But please let go."

Scarlet only seemed to find it amusing, laughing even more.

"Oh yes, it's very funny to you, but this is my hair. And I'd like to keep my hair, thank you."

When he was finally able to release Scarlet's tight grasp, he sighed, looking at her and then the papers on the table. He reached forward to run a hand over her head, feeling the small fluff of hair she had.

He smiled again, seeing how it made her happy. "You're a sweetie. I can't resist those little smiles you got! Just ah! I wanna take so many pictures of you. Would that be weird? Taking pictures of some baby that was left at my door?"

There was a babble, followed by a bit of drool from Scarlet's mouth.

"Nah, you're right. You were left here, clearly your parents aren't coming back. So…"

Prompto stood up and placed Scarlet back in the carrier and buckled her up. "I don't want you going anywhere, but I promise I will be right back. Just wait one minute, okay?"

He quickly ran back to where he had left his phone, unlocking it at record speed. Clicking on his phone contacts, he clicked on the name he wanted and waited as the phone began to ring.

"Prompto?" the voice from the other side asked. "Is there something you need? I thought you were playing games with Noct tonight."

"Hey Ignis, and yeah I was, and I will get back to that. But uh… something came up and I needed to ask."

"And what would that be?"

Prompto scratched the back of his head. "Uh… so like, how old do you have to be to adopt a baby?"
