"I will always love you little one, you are meant for greatness."
She looks up into the billions of twinkling stars coating the night sky. It's mother, the moon, shines brightly in pride at a distance. Neji Ashanti sighs when her aunt calls her a few minutes later to come inside. The eleven year old wanted to stay outside longer, but oh well, what auntie says, goes.
When she got inside, Neji expects to be told to go to bed. But that didn't happen, causing confusion to rise within the girl. Her aunt smiles and beckons her niece to come closer, which Neji does, allowing her aunt to lift her onto the older woman's lap once close enough. "I have something to tell you, about your parents." Neji's eyes shot up, immediately locking itself on her aunt's face. She remembers her mother only a little bit, since she died when Neji was around five. Causing her aunt to become her legal guardian. She never knew anything about her dad, whenever her younger self would ask her mom where her dad is or just to know anything about him, her mom would give a soft and loving smile. But with tears streaming down the woman's face. Her beautiful, radiant, black face.
"Your mother was a beautiful woman, said to be one of the most beautiful in our little village here on Tatooine. She was also brave and very powerful in her own right. Eleven years ago, which would be a year before the events of Order 66, you were born. It was a result of an affair between your mother and this man named Anakin Skywalker. You are very privileged to go to school and be surrounded by people who have heard of the Jedi and it's Council. That's because...you see...our village only knows of the leaders and powerful people here and a bit of the Republic. We don't know nor heard much about Jedi. Nor did we care for the matter. Most of the time, we are isolated from the other species here on this planet. The reason why I say this and use the word 'affair' is because your father is a married man." Neji raises her eyebrows at that.
She asks, "How did you know what? Also, do you think he is still alive?"
"I caught him mumbling to himself one night, while he was staying with us and recovering from something he got during his mission. I think it was when your mother was three months pregnant with you. Which is where she found out she was expecting later that morning. But anyways, your father was mumbling about how 'dare' he cheat on the 'most beautiful woman' in his life. How he has an amazing and faithful wife at home who is patiently waiting for his return, and he couldn't even control himself and keep it in his pants. Among other stuff. To answer your other question, I think he is still alive. I may not know him that much nor interact with him unlike your mother, but I can sense strength and persistence from his aura. But who knows, I might be wrong." Her auntie picks up her cup of milk placed next to her on a little table, taking small sips before putting it back down.
Neji may not understand what her auntie meant by the pants thing, but she does senses that her father probably regrets the affair with her mother. But does that mean he regrets her? She sure hopes not. Maybe she should look for him someday, that is, if he is actually alive. He could probably answer some questions of hers. About her mother, about his life as a Jedi and about her own..special abilities. You see, ever since she was young, she felt a strong surge of power flowing through her. She could lift stuff up without having to pick them up, she could read minds and talk to someone through a mental connection, she can sense other special people who are like her and so on. Her fighting skills still need some polishing to do, but so far she's a pretty good fighter.
Suddenly, her aunt gasps with wide eyes, looking at her niece as a small, red hole forms in the middle of her forehead. Neji frantically calls out to her guardian, even as the older woman slumps back and takes her last breath. Eyes a bit glassy and now unfocused, her auntie croaks out a goodbye before dying. Neji springs to her feet and bounces backwards as bullets fly towards her. She does her very best to avoid them, but as time passes, it felt like Neji is slowing down and the bullets are spreading up. Until two finally hit her and she stumbles to the ground.
Her eyes slowly turn black and her ears can only hear the body's shaky, uneven breaths.
Wheezing...Wheezing...Wheezing...
