Miranda took a deep breath. Her stomach was filled with butterflies, and she felt as though she would throw up at any moment. This wasn't her first executive meeting by any means, however this was the first time that she would be pitching a show to the other executives and the president.

Miranda was still the newbie on the executive board, and she knew that she hadn't been taken very seriously up to this point. Most of the time when she spoke up, the other executives would shut her down quickly or even outright ignore her. Not to mention she basically is the pack mule of all the executives, having most of the work passed onto her. Miranda tried to not let it get to her, but admittedly, even she could take so much.

She took a look at herself in the mirror, and saw just how exhausted she was. Make-up could only go so far as to cover up the dark bags that formed under her brown eyes. Being an executive producer at FreshTV was definitely no walk in the park. Especially since she has been getting a lot of things pushed onto her. But this was a great opportunity for Miranda, she can't pass this up.

The network was in a sort of awkward period in its time. Not many shows were becoming huge hits with audiences. There were some that were pretty popular, but they weren't doing as many numbers as they used to. The meeting today was to discuss some potential new shows to try and get some more ratings for the network. Miranda had an idea, but it was one that was a bit risky to bring up. However, she felt as though her idea could potentially bring a smash hit to the network.

The executive producer straightened up with a newfound confidence. She quickly fixed up her dirty blonde hair and straightened out her red blazer. There was no use of being nervous. She was already at the bottom of the executive producer totem pole. Worst that can happen is that they don't take her idea seriously. But maybe, just maybe… they'll welcome her idea.

Miranda took a deep breath before picking up the vanilla folder that sat on the counter. She took a quick look through it to make sure she had everything she needed before walking out of the bathroom and down the hall to the meeting room.

As she opened the door, she took note of who had come early to the meeting to get a taste of the free food. It of course was the usual suspects. A couple of the other executives turned to see who entered, but quickly lost interest when finding out who it was. And others didn't even bother to look.

Miranda didn't pay much mind to that however as she walked right to her usual seat. She pulled it out from the table to be able to sit in it, however a hand grabbed the chair and kept Miranda from fully pulling it out. Looking up at who the hand belonged to, Miranda immediately became agitated.

"Hello Tony." Miranda greeted, giving a stern edge to her voice.

"Hey Miranda, gotta say, you're looking pretty good today." Tony responded, giving her a wink. Tony was about 10 years older than Miranda was, however that didn't really stop him from trying to be a hit with younger ladies. Guess money, power, and connections does that to a person. Tony was slightly tanned with black hair that seemed too perfect to be real, hazel eyes, and a rotuned figure. Too bad he's short, only being 5'6. Imagine being a 40 year old guy who's that short and thinking you got any sort of game.

It took everything in Miranda not to visibly recoil in disgust. However, she knew it was better not to show any negative emotions. She was afraid of how Tony would react to something like that. "Is there something I would be able to help you with?"

Tony gave her a slimy smirk and let out a small schuckle. "Actually, there is. Ya see, I got a reservation at the Mauve for a dinner for two this Friday evening, and I'm requesting you to join me."

Miranda's heart started to beat a bit faster. She wanted nothing to do with that. But simply saying no to a guy like Tony could lead to putting herself in danger. She'd have to be a bit tactful in her response.

"M-my apologies Tony, however I already have something going on this Friday." Miranda responded, hoping and praying he'd leave it there.

But of course Tony doesn't. His smirk falls and he brings his face closer to Miranda's. "And what could that be? I'm sure whatever it is could wait. Especially for a dinner at the Mauve. You know how hard it is to get a reservation there?"

Miranda swallowed hard. She hated feeling powerless like she was right now. She wanted nothing more than to just laugh in the guy's face and bring him down a peg. But unlucky for her, Tony was pretty tight with the CEO. Not to mention, he's known to not take too kindly to rejection. She had to play her cards right with this one.

"Well I-"

"Aye, yo Tony! You gotta come try these macarons dude! Their awesome man!" Called out a voice from the other side of the room by the food table.

Miranda relaxed a bit. Miracles do happen. "It seems you're needed elsewhere."

Tony rolled his eyes slightly. "Eh, Braxton can wait."

"Dude! Tony! Did ya hear me guy?" Braxton called out again.

Tony let out an irritated groan. "I'm comin' Braxton." He turned his attention back to Miranda. "Try and figure out how to reschedule whatever you're doing Friday. I'll talk to you after the meeting." With that, he walked away, letting Miranda get the chance to finally sit down. So much for her burst in confidence.

A few minutes started to pass and the rest of the executive producers started to filter into the room. The seats around the table started to fill up until there were three open spots all the way at the head of the table.

Then finally, right as the clock hit noon, three more people walked into the room. The first two were the head executive producers: Tom and Jennifer.

Tom was a very tall and thin guy with rose-beige skin, sand colored hair and hazel eyes. He was wearing a dark navy blue sweater over a white dress shirt and gray slacks.

Jennifer was a fair bit shorter than Tom, but she herself was a bit curvier. She had long, light brown hair and blue eyes. Jennifer wore a light blue blouse with dark navy slacks.

The two were always joined at the hip. They worked extremely well together, and Miranda would be lying if she said she didn't want to have a coworker she was that close to. It gets lonely.

However some eyebrows were raised at who they were talking to. Instead of the CEO of FreshTV, they were speaking to the vice president, Maxell Martin.

Now Maxwell isn't very popular around the office. Not necessarily for his personality, but because people tend to think he gets unfair treatment. To be fair, he's 24, and is already the vice president of a huge company such as this. He just so happens to be the CEO's very own son.

While that definitely played a part in him having this position at such a young age, Miranda thought that he actually deserved his position. Despite being so young, Maxwell had an immense knowledge on how business worked, and he seemed to be a bit of a prodigy. He had a silver tongue, and knew how to get things to turn in his favor with his words alone.

Maxwell was pretty tall, especially compared to some of the others currently in the room. He had black hair with the ends dyed a light pink. It was currently done up into a messy bun with some of his bangs falling in his face. He had beautiful dark skin and brown eyes that at first glance seemed to give off a lax look, but at a second glance seemed to be always analyzing things. He wore a neat black suit with a pink sakura dress shirt. He had two thin gold chokers around his neck and a dangling gold earring.

The trio made their way to the end of the table, with Maxwell taking a seat at the very head of it.

"Where's your pop kid?" Asked Tony. It was clear, he was one of the ones who didn't think too highly of Maxwell as the tone of his voice was full of annoyance.

"He cannot make it." Maxwell responded, causing Miranda to lose some of her nerves. At least she won't be shot down by the CEO himself. "And he asked me to be here in his stead. I hope that isn't a problem for you Mr. Jones." Maxwell's tone seemed to be just asking Tony to say something.

Tony didn't take the bait though, seemingly knowing Maxwell was trying to get him to say something that could get him in trouble. "It was a simple question."

"Good." It was clear to see Maxwell knew it was a lie, but he didn't dwell on it for much longer, wanting to get the meeting started. "You all know I'm not one for formalities, so we may as well just hop right into the meat of it. We're experiencing a bit of a lull in our ratings currently. It seems that we haven't been able to really capture the audience's attention lately. So I asked my father to set up this meeting in order to perhaps get some ideas for some new shows that could maybe bring some excitement back to our television station. Any ideas?"

One of the executive producers stood up. "I do. It's a sitcom about the everyday life of two rich heiresses and them trying to live the life of everyday middle class people."

Maxwell clearly wasn't too invested in the idea. "That's going to be a no. I feel our target audience won't respond well to that, and may see it as tone deaf. Anyone else?"

Miranda started to get cold feet. He shot that idea down very quickly, without a second thought. Should she even bother trying?

Another executive stood up. "I have a show about a guy finding his boyfriend cheating on him, but then he starts to date a girl to try and forget about his boyfriend, even though he's gay. Then years later, he reunites with his ex who is trying to get him back."

Maxwell shook his head. "That sounds too melodramatic, and doesn't make much sense. Besides, that seems like it'd be a show that is only targeted for teens. We need something that will get a huge target audience. Think people, think."

That seemed to really kill the mood of the room. Miranda glanced around, and saw a couple of the others look defeated before they even had the chance to bring up what they had prepared.

The silence was loud and clear for Maxwell, who seemed to grow agitated. "Do none of you have anything good?"

Just then it felt as though Miranda switched to autopilot. She stood up, and looked right at Maxwell. There were a couple scoffs and some chuckles from some of the others in the room. Their lack of respect for Miranda was evident.

"Yes, I was looking through some of our old pitches that ended up falling during the planning stages." Miranda explained she paused for a moment, almost realizing what she was doing. But with a motion from Maxwell to continue, Miranda did just that. "There was one show that particularly interested me with its concept, and I think it's something that can reach a wide audience."

Maxwell seemed to take this in, however he showed no sort of emotion to this. Nothing to clue Miranda in on if he found this interesting or not. But she soon received her answer in the form of Maxwell telling her, "Go on."

This gave Miranda a bit of a confidence boost. "Well. I saw around 11 years ago, there was a show called Total Drama Island that was being planned. It was a competition reality show that would have pitted 22 teens against each other for a chance at $100,000. The main reason it never reached production was due to concerns about having the cast being underaged kids. I was thinking we could revisit this concept, except perhaps raise the age of the contestants to legal adults in order to quell any fear of legal trouble."

The room was silent. Everyone's eyes were situated on either Miranda or Maxwell. Miranda herself stared straight at the vice president, waiting for his response.

She didn't expect him to start chuckling.

Maxwell sent a smirk her way. "Total Drama Island, huh? Finally an idea worth visiting. Tom, Jen, write that down."

All the tension and nerves in Miranda seemed to seep out of her body, a proud smile reaching her lips. "Thank you sir."

Maxwell sent a nod her way as she sat back in her seat. Having finally gotten an idea that was accepted seemed to have cleared some of the defeated feelings people had.

Another executive producer stood up in order to pitch their idea, however Miranda didn't really hear it. She was too happy and feeling too good to really pay much attention. Maybe now, she'll start to get some more respect around here.

The meeting concluded with only three ideas having been chosen to be looked at moving into planning. Miranda felt high on life at this moment, being one of the very few whose idea had been chosen. However, her mood didn't last long as Tony came up and wrapped an arm around her.

"I gotta say toots, great job with that pitch. I'm quite impressed." He told Miranda. "Now about Friday-"

Tony was once again interrupted, but this time it was by Maxwell himself, who walked up to the two with Tom and Jennifer in tow. "Miranda, I have to say I'm quite impressed with what you brought to the table today. While not your original idea, I think revisiting this could really be a good thing for the network."

"Thank you Mr. Martin." Miranda responded.

"Now, we're going to want to talk more about this idea and get more info out of it, and of course bring it to my father's attention. So for Friday night you're to meet up with Tom, Jennifer, my father, and I for dinner to discuss this further."

"Too bad she's already going to dinner with me Friday." Tony spat, sending a glare Maxwell's way.

This didn't phase the vice president though. "Well you're going to have to reschedule. This is something we need to start planning and getting to production ASAP. And I know my father will want to talk to Miranda about this as well."

Tony let out a scoff as Maxwell left, most likely to go back to his own office.

Jennifer handed Miranda a sheet of paper. "Congratulations on your great idea." Jennifer told her. "This is just the info on paper for Friday night. We're meeting at the Mauve at 6 pm."

"Yes, make sure you're on time." Tom said. "But you did a great job with coming up with the idea to revisit this show."

"Especially since Tom and I were the ones to originally pitch it." Jennifer noted.

This was something Miranda didn't know. "Wait, really?"

"Yep! Back then, we were trying to reach a younger audience, hence the pitch of having teens compete." Tom explained. "But I think that aging the contestant up a bit will be a much smarter idea."

"I agree." Jennifer said. "Now if you'll excuse us, Tom and I have some work we need to get back to. We'll talk to you more about this and give you some of our ideas we had way back when. Bye!"

With that, the two made their exit as well. Miranda beamed with excitement and confidence. She did good.

Tony, on the other hand, was not much of a happy camper. "Now what the hell am I going to do about this reservation? It's supposed to be for two people!"

Miranda smirked, walking towards the door to the room. "Well, I guess you'll just have to take Braxton with you to the Mauve instead." With that, she made her exit, leaving Tony to scowl to himself.

"You're taking me to the Mauve? That's so nice of you Tony!" Braxton said, appearing out of nowhere. He gave his coworker a big hug.

Tony just groaned in response.

Ayye what up! Here I am with another story. Now it may be a bit weird since I'm currently writing Towering Fortress, however, I can explain… I'm insane. No, but seriously, something I've been thinking about doing is actually starting to create a universe. I've tried twice with Ukufa Island and Total SYOC Island, but I couldn't really get past a second story. But with this, I've decided that it's actually taking place in the same universe as Towering Fortress. Those who have read the prologues of TF should already know Miranda. I thought it would make sense to follow her through this prologue as well since she is a part of this universe I'm making. This is going to canonically be the first Total Drama season for the universe. I have an idea of what number season TF will be, but who knows, that could end up changing. Now as for the cast… well it's already been chosen. I'm going to do do 17 of my ocs, and 5 ocs from some people that I've already asked. It's an inverse of TSI where I had 17 ocs from other people, and 5 of my ocs. I just gotta wait for a couple more of the apps.

Now the next question would be why am I writing another Total Drama Island season when I've already done TSI? Well… because I want to. That's really the only thing that matters, especially since no one will probably actually read this story since it's mostly just my own ocs. But it's what I wanted to do, so why not. Not to mention, I kinda wanna see how much I've grown as a writer compared to TSI. Not to mention, it's kinda weird to have a universe that doesn't start off with TDI as the first season. And I wanted to write my own ocs. As seen with this chapter too, I'm not just going to be focusing on the competition. While that, of course, is going to be the main focus, I also wanted to try and write some stuff that goes on in the background and with production. So that's why I'm setting it up now. I'm thinking there will be one more, maaaybe two more prologues before the season actually starts up. Also, I do got a discord for my stories, so if you want to join, just send me a pm, and I'll give ya the code for it. But until then, have a great day! ~MG
