The sun was shining, the birds were singing and for the first time in a long time, he was relaxed. Or probably as relaxed as he could get lying outside on a hot summer day. Oh well, at least the shade made it a tiny bit bearable. Shifting slightly on his side, Edd kept his eyes even as he heard a soft grunt beside him, his partner snorting quietly before she moved her own body in a more comfortable position.

"Damn it's hot." Marie muttered, moving again so that her shoulder bumped against Edd's, the lean boy bumping back with a small smile on his face. They were both dressed in loose tank tops and baggy jeans. Their shoes were discarded beside them along with their socks. It did little to help keep the pair cool.

"Mhm." he grunted, his eyes still closed.

"I wish it would rain."

"Mhm."

"I wish our air conditioner worked."

"Mhm."

"Stop saying "mhm"" Marie grumbled lightly, raising herself up on her elbows to look down at her partner.

Edd responded with a light smirk and turned on his back, before pulling his beanie over his eyes. "Mhm."

Marie sighed softly before flopping back on the ground, the grass had long since lost it coolness but there was nothing else that could be done. "You're lucky it's so hot today, or else I would have slugged you."

Edd's smirk grew wider as he lifted his hat to look over at his friend, watching her scoring lines in the dirt with her claws. "Even when we were kids you never really hit me that much. Sure the constant sexual harassment was annoying as hell but you didn't go out of your way to overtly hurt me."

Marie winced at that, her claws digging into the dirt before she turned her head away, her hair falling into her eyes. Her scent changed from soft, subtle lavender and spring air to a sour note of rotting leaves and pitch cold snow. Edd tilted his head before moving to place his own hand on top of hers. "I told you I already forgive you. You don't have to keep beating yourself up. Besides...I can't forget that you helped me out when I needed it most."

Marie smiled gently at that, but still sighed, leaning her body as that it was barely grazing Edd's shoulder, the tall boy took the contact, knowing that Marie needed it.

"It may be small, but we're still a pack, Marie. I'd never turn you away." Edd said softly, hoping that his friend would heed his words.

He closed his eyes again but after a second, he noticed Marie's scent changed back to it's usual smell and Edd relaxed once more.

"...Thanks."

"You're welcome."

The pair stayed in silence after that, just letting the heat of the day and their own thoughts pass by. Edd was slowly being lulled into a doze but he suddenly felt Marie stiffen beside him then heard her low, slightly nervous growl vibrate through her body.

The air around them suddenly felt hotter and Edd rolled over, looking to his partner. Marie's fangs were bared, her claws gripped tightly in the dirt. Her body was rigid and her eyes were narrowed into slits. She looked already to attack at any moment.

Edd sniffed around a bit for a moment before scowling, shaking his head in disgust before joining Marie in growling, baring his own fangs. Damn it, and they were having such an easy day!

The air around them turned from the expected scents of summer to the harsh smell of fire and oozing sap. Underneath that was the smell of smoke and rain. Conflicting scents but apt for who they belong too.

"That any way to greet your sister?" the sickly sweet voice made Edd what to retch as Lee strolled up to them, her fiery red hair still her most defining feature and still up in those curls from her younger years.

Marie continued to growl and it only increased when Lee's companion came into view. Edd felt a crushing sense of sadness and loss fill him before Marie bumped against him, giving him what strength she could. Edd then shook his head again, that part of his life was over, he wasn't a lanky little priss anymore. But seeing him still hurt.

"Eddy..."

"What do you expect, Lee-baby? These two never learned their place like proper Omegas should. They like they can just live however they want! I think it's time they learn how properly act around us." Eddy snarled, rolling his shoulders as he showed his own fangs, much bigger and sharper than Edd's or Marie's.

Edd looked at Eddy, trying, not for the first time, to see the short, loud, but oddly caring when it counts, boy that he used to be. Before he presented as an Alpha. But no matter how hard he searched, the Eddy he knew wasn't there anymore. Now all Edd could see was a wall of muscle, thick shoulders and a barrel chest. Eddy was taller now, even taller than Ed. His eyes were sharp not with childish cunning but burning malice. He dressed in a similar manner to his older brother, something that made Edd balk but it was worst.

They always used to get into scuffles when they were kids but now, as teens, nearing senior year, the fights got more and more brutal. Especially when Edd presented as Omega. It become too much. The three Eds were pack before their natures came out and they still tried to be pack as they got older. But the fights, the yelling, the shattered love they all had, though hard to see at times, drove Edd off. They were no longer pack.

Eddy tracked Edd down and tried to force him to come back and they fought. But Eddy, so much bigger and stronger weeks after presenting, swiftly won the fight against the leaner, smaller Edd. Even though Edd gave it his all, biting and clawing with everything he had, it still wasn't enough and Eddy left him bleeding and near unconscious alone. Eddy left him with a trio of claw marks on his left shoulder that would brand him with a scar for the rest of his life.

Marie had been the one to find him. It was surreal, after entering high school and even before that, Marie and May had stopped tormenting them. Edd noticed it first when Lee and May would jump them, Marie was there too but she always hung back or when she did join in seemed...apathetic and bored to it all. Edd didn't trust her until he finally no longer saw Marie with Lee or May and then it was eventually just Lee.

The older girl took him to the small cabin in the tiny woods and healed him up. She hadn't spoken to him for two days before finally saying "I'm sorry." Edd remembered her scent, it was just like it was today. Rotting leaves and cold snow.

He remembered moving, trying to sit up and his shoulder wound opening and bleeding again. Maire saw and leaned over, licking the wound clean before disinfecting it and wrapping it. "Try not to move so much. Eddy really did a number on you."

Her voice was quiet and Edd tilted his head, trying to piece together everything. He didn't remember much besides the actual fight. "Were you there?"

"No, I found you afterward. From all the blood, I'd say you put up a hell of a fight. For an Omega, that's impressive."

Edd scoffed at that, raising his hand to show off his claws while momentarily baring his fangs. "An Omega I may be, but I still have fangs and claws. If I have to, I WILL use them."

Marie smiled at that, big enough that her own fangs showed. "A follow Omega with spirit! I knew there was a reason I liked you."

Edd smiled wryly, feeling suddenly comfortable with Marie despite their history. Maybe it was because she healed him. "Other than wanting to get in my pants?"

Marie lifted her head, her scent changing slightly, Edd could smell a hint of lavender. "Yes...other than that, I know how hard it is being an Omega and having your pack fall apart."

At that, Edd's gaze fell and they sat in silence for a few moments. Eventually Edd cleared his thraot, looking at the older girl in front of him.

"Why did you do it?" he asked simply, his voice lowering to an almost whisper.

Marie turned her head away, her hair falling into her eyes. "I didn't know you were going to be there, but when I did come across you, I knew I had to help. I also did it as a way to earn your forgiveness. I know I can't erase what I've done, I know I hurt you but...perhaps I can help you. Neither of us have a pack now and perhaps...we can start over and maybe become friends?"

Edd stared at Marie, the force of which made her look at him. Even after that, Edd still stared staring at her face. Marie shifted slightly before Edd opened his mouth, dipping his head slightly. "I believe you...and I accept your offer." Marie then smiled and it was the first time Edd smelled her true scent. Lavender mixed with spring air.

Even since then, Marie and Edd became friends and they had formed their own little pack, together.

Edd shook his head once again, putting his mind in the present. And just in time as Eddy struck out at him, his claws barely missing Edd's face as he dodged at the last minute. Snarling, the large Alpha threw himself at Edd while Marie and Lee circled each other before the red head pounced, tackling Marie and biting hard into her shoulder.

Yelling in rage and pain, Marie tried raking her claws across her sister's face, only for Lee to pull back, grinning sadistically. It reminded Marie of the fight she had with Lee before the latter kicked her out of both the pack and their home.

Marie didn't want to be on the losing side for a second time. Growling, she clawed at Lee's chest with just enough force to make her older sister loosen her grip and give Marie enough space to wriggle out and away from her. Hissing, Marie readied herself for another attack, glaring at Lee and spitting when her sister stood and readied her fists.

"You bitch! I'm going to beat the hell outta you!" Lee growled, baring her fangs. Her Alpha scent flared out and despite wanting to fight and acting on it, Marie felt her legs begin to shake and felt rooted to the spot.

'Damn it, stop shaking!' she thought, berating herself. That moment of distraction cost her as Lee rammed into her, screeching and tearing at any bit of flesh she could get her fangs and claws on.

Marie managed to get her legs underneath Lee and happy to have her feet unbound, she dug the claws into Lee's belly before kicking her off. Lee flew a few feet away from her and landed hard on her side, knocking the wind from her.

Eddy was currently beating the hell of of Edd while the smaller male had his fangs latched onto Eddy's leg, the jeans ripped and his skin torn and bleeding. Yet when he looked up and noticed Lee struggling to get up and coughing hard, he forgot all about Edd. "Lee-baby!"

Before Marie had a chance to collect herself, Eddy charged into her, scoring his claws across her side and chest then using his superior strength to slam her into the ground with enough to make her cough up blood. Paralyzed by the pain, Marie could defend herself properly and was quickly torn apart by Eddy.

Edd struggled to his feet but as Eddy was dealing with Marie, Lee staggered to her feet and dealt with Edd, pinning him back down and biting his neck. The pain was getting to be too much and it was all he could do to not pass out. Still, darkness started to swim at the edges of his vision and Edd feebly reached out for Marie, wishing he had the strength to help her.

Just as he felt like Lee would tear his jugular out, he suddenly felt Lee's fangs tear from his body. The scent of warm sun and apple pie surrounded his fading senses and Edd could just make out the gentle scent of female Alpha and a blob of long blond hair.

His last sensations were of strong hands grabbing him along with muffled growling and shouts of Marie's name.

A/N: Well, my first Ed, Edd n Eddy fic and my first Omegaverse fic. Somebody help me, please! All joking aside, I've been wanting to do one of these concerning both topics for a while now, but always thought I wouldn't do good with either.
