Author's (Chavala's) Note:
Hi. Thank you for give my fanfic a chance! I really appreciate it. This is my first one so please take care of me!
Also, English is not my native language and I love feedback so feel free to give it. Just be nice if you can, thank you.
Now, about this story:
You'll see right away that this story stars in the Wishmaker chapter, that episode is HUGE and well... it put my not so used imagination to work. It starts there and then I use some other episodes of the fourth season with my personal twist, so they could fit both the main and my story. I will not include all the details from the actual episodes so I recommend you to watch all season 4 before read this. (Nothing from season 5 is included).
I already have the main plot decided so I promise I'll end this! It'll have at least 30 chapters. Each chapter is from a character POV but I might need to split some if they're too big. We're starting with Luka because... reasons...
I'll try to keep it on character BUT for me MLB doesn't have the typical teenagers (they are so good and well behave, is unrealistic (I mean people, if you are older, remember what you did in your teenage years)), so I'll try to "fix" that without going too wild. Besides, I have no (0, zero, nada) experience in writing, I need to start somewhere.
Also, I'll try to keep the A/N on around every 10 chapters, so I don't bother you too much. I'm planning to update between every two weeks to every month.
And I think that's it... for now. I really hope you like this.
Till next time :)
(And... remember feedback, thank you)

LUKA COUFFAINE
"Second Chance"
"No one can know our secret identities".
Says Marinette once again after a green magical glow that changes everything but nothing at the same time. Luka can see her face perfectly behind the mask now. Marinette calls for her lucky charm and Luka feels a little nauseous, his mind spinning with questions.
But now is not a good time to seek answers.
"I've got the first part of the solution" proposes Luka and takes Ladybug (who's also Marinette!) to the man that recognized the toy before. This time only warns Chat Noir about the shots, no time to help him dodge.
No, he needs to assist Marinette, avoid that she gets shot again and try to pull the pieces together.
He knew she was amazing, that's why he couldn't completely get over her. He remembered clearly her little break down, the words still lingered in his mind:
"I'm so tired Luka. Tired of these responsibilities, tired of put up a front all the time, I've never been able to be who I truly am…"
So, this is what she was talking about. On that occasion, he really tried to give her support, but now he feels that it wasn't enough. How could've been? She's been holding all this weight by herself, all the responsibilities, all the danger, all the secrets… and secrets are something that could eat up a person inside.
And then, the sentence that broke his heart finds its way back to his thoughts:
"The truth, Luka, is the only thing I can't tell you…"
This must be why! Everything makes sense now. He has just accepted to be only a friend to Marinette but this is a game changer. They broke up because she is Ladybug, she tried to be with him and spend time with him but her hero's responsibilities got in the way. He just didn't know it and without meaning it, he put another burden to her. He was so unfair…
But now he knows, he can understand, he can really help. Maybe now he can love her and make her as happy as she deserves, supporting her when the hero role becomes too much.
The wonderful Marinette Dupain-Cheng broke up with him because she really couldn't tell him her secret, not because she couldn't get over Adri-
Before he could finish that thought Chat Noir got hit (did he even try to avoid it?!) and Adrien Agreste appeared in his place.
Luka sigh as his newly built hopes are shattered again. Does this mean what he thinks it means? He doesn't believe in destiny, that's why he tried to be with Marinette even if Juleka (and all of their friends) said that she and Adrien are made for each other.
Marinette obviously has feelings for Adrien, but as strong as they might seem (expected for the first love) they are quite… superficial. As far as he knows, she hasn't been able to have real conversations with him (he almost had to drag her so she could talk to him) and the boy, well… just sees her as a friend.
Yes, maybe they are a great team that safe each other daily and yes, maybe all Paris believe that they are dating but that doesn't mean that they're destined to be together, right?
…
Oh please, who is he kidding? It's obvious, even to him, that they have an indestructible bound. He shouldn't be entertaining these thoughts if he wants to be part of Marinette's life, and he really desires to be there for her, especially now that he knows that she'll need someone that understands her.
"Second Chance!"
This time, is easy to divert Wishmaker's shot to the man that wanted to be a Dino-Huggie and with that (and an incredibly team coordination from Ladybug and Chat Noir) good triumphs over evil again.
And again, Luka puts himself the friend label.
Because above all, Marinette's song should be a joyful one. He wants to see her eyes glow and her lips create the biggest and most radiant smile.
Above all, he just wants her to be happy.
She deserves it.
. . . . .
After the fight, Luka is alone with Mar-Ladybug in an alley and gives the miraculous back.
"Thanks to you our secret identities were preserved and no one discovered who Chat Noir and I really are" she tries to leave but hesitates "not even you, right?"
Oh, what to do? He hates lies, but her supplicant eyes tell him that if he knew that she is Marinette her whole world will crumble and maybe he wouldn't be Viperon anymore. Maybe she wasn't ready to let someone to know her identity but he knows she needs him! Then, the alternative is to help her from the shadows...
"Not even me..."
With that, she takes off with a happy expression, so maybe it was the right decision, even if it doesn't feel like it right now.
Going out the alley, Luka founds a dazzled Chat Noir a meter above the ground, with the help of his staff, staring at the sky. Well, not the sky, staring at Ladybug to be precise. The ring beeped but he stood there, unwavering, his gaze fixed in his partner, uncaring about anything else. If he hasn't just seen him de-transform, he wouldn't have never guessed that Adrien was that careless.
Wait. He IS that careless. HE LET HIMSELF GET SHOT BY THE AKUMA. That's not acceptable, not when it puts Marinette in danger.
"Ad-Chat Noir" says Luka, almost calling him by the wrong name. Chat Noir, now on the floor, gives him his full attention and a quizzical look "What happened there?!" he notices his voice a little louder and angrier that it should "I was nearby the fight looking for my friends and... well, I saw you giving up, like if you wanted to be shot by the akuma" Chat shocked face is all the confirmation he needs. How irresponsible! He sighs... Luka needs his guitar right now.
"... I- I'm so sorry, you're right... I'm just having some identity purr-blems lately" Chat tries to laugh it off but the smile doesn't reach his eyes.
"...Listen Chat…" Says Luka, trying to calm himself down "It's ok if you don't remember what do you wanted as a child, you know. It doesn't affect who you are, the sound that you have today or the melody that you can create on the future. Don't give up, just remember what I told you about to find your inner music"
Oops, that could've gone better. Luka hates lies and it's a good thing because apparently, he's a lousy liar.
The vexed sight of Luka changes to a much tender one when a speechless Chat gulps and sees the floor, an expression full of guilt and regret. So, he really is sorry! Luka puts a hand on his shoulder as a reassuring gesture and Chat Noir turns his eyes back to Luka's.
"Remember that Ladybug counts on you, you can't never give up". The hero was about to knee on the floor to express how sorry he was when his ring beeped for a second time "I think that you have to go Chat, thank you for your hard work " Luka says, his face and voice reflect his usual calm demeanor "l will also go to find my friends".
With that, Luka hoped that Chat will remember that he was one of those friends he is supposed to meet and hurry to de transform. It worked perfectly.
"Oh yeah ehh... Luka, you're welcome and thank you. Really." He says sincerely. "You have my word that it won't happen again, I'm deeply, extremely sorry." And with a rapid movement, Chat Noir disappeared.
Luka just stood there, watching the now quiet and lonely street.
With a heavy heart, he starts his way back. He wanted to say something like See you soon, Adrien but hey, he is not that cliché.
