A Nine-Tailed fox; so colossal Dimaria looked nothing more than an ant before it. She may have been giant or a dwarf, it wouldn't have made any difference. The aura oozing off it reigned with supremacy, demanding nothing more than complete obedience from her. If it growled, she would fallen flat on her knees and purred like a cat in submission.

She wanted to laugh at her own ignorance, having once thought she possessed all power in the world. Little had stood in the way. But as she had come to learn, the world wasn't so small that it could be measured by her limited standards. The thing in front of her was an entity surpassing even the God within her. She was certain, even Brandish's magic would not be effective against this thing.

Naruto was another devil. Yet, even with all his power, he worried about the Dragon Gods. Did they possess power beyond comprehension? Even to this day, she couldn't fathom the kind of power Acnologia once held.

Dimaria glanced around; there was no human around them, no building. It was just natures creations. If there had been anything living, it would have either fled or simply crawled under the rocks to hide from the monsters in her presence. She wouldn't fault them.

"I do enjoy being me…" Kurama said with a wide foxy grin.

The voice was so deep and powerful, Dimaria felt it ringing within her heart. It was hard to imagine this thing was the same that was standing next to Naruto as a human moments go.

"You're a proud Bijuu."

"Of course! Unlike you, when you turned into a dragon, you felt contempt for that transformation even though it was the real you."

"It was not the real me."

"Technically, it was." Kurama glanced at the world around him. The only monsters in the shinobi world were Bijuu. In this world, there were demons, dragons and other creatures. No one hunted them for their power—he loved this idea of freedom. It was just a pity his brothers couldn't experience the same joy. "I just don't like being used as a transport."

"Aren't you the one who transformed on your free will?"

Dimaria watched the exchange silently. Naruto was atop of the fox's head. She hesitated for a moment before leaping into the air. The blond was lying on his back, comfortable on the fur. She touched it and then settled with comfort.

"You haven't introduced yourself well to Dimaria," Naruto said to Kurama.

"Is there a need?"

"Aren't they going to be your training partners?"

"There is no need for that. I'm only going to do it because you asked and there is boredom…" Kurama replied with indifference as he started moving toward the direction of the Capital city.

Naruto glanced at Dimaria and then smiled. "His name is Kurama. He is my friend. We have been together since the day I was conceived in my mother's womb…" he blinked. "Hey, Kurama, have I told anyone this little detail?"

"No."

"Well, that makes you the first human to know this much," Naruto said to Dimaria. "This is the person I trust the most. He has saved me many times… even though we used to hate each other at first."

"You were a brat and useless too… stupid and naïve…" Kurama said with a laugh. "It was hard to believe you were Minato's son given how dense and stupid you were. Kushina wasn't a genius but she wasn't a buffoon."

"I take offense in that."

"It is the truth. Though, it is a miracle you have turned out well. I suppose experience helps."

Naruto scoffed. "That is rich coming from a beast that once proclaimed to be hatred incarnate and said it would destroy me once it got out. Now you cozy up to me like we're buddies…" he laughed coldly. "Well, the Sage would be pleased."

There was a lot of information that came out of that little conversation and Dimaria didn't think it wasn't purposeful. Well, the fox just didn't seem to care. But for the first time, she learned the names of Naruto's parents. It was also ridiculous that he was once weak and stupid. She couldn't imagine it. He was also the most observant person she knew. How could he have been dense?

"Needless to say," Naruto was facing her with a stern face. "You're never to say this to anyone."

"What is secretive about it? It is just names of your parents and a little more about just kind of childhood you might have had."

Naruto laughed. "You can't even begin to imagine the kind of childhood I had. But that is the point, we don't talk about such things. I keep that of information secret."

"Even from Irene?"

"Even from Irene…" he smiled. "Well, she is the one person who knows me more than anyone else…"

"Fine."

"I don't understand you humans…" Kurama said, intervening. "A day ago there was a one sided animosity. And now, there is none of it… what happened to all that hatred?"

"We dealt with it." Naruto glanced at Dimaria with a grin. "Didn't we?"

She sneered. "No… I'm just being civil for the sake of my duties."

Naruto barked in laughter. "How sweet…" he said. "But she still doesn't trust me…" he said to Kurama.

"Can't blame her."

Naruto rolled his eyes. "Of course, that is coming from you. Your trust issues are bigger than anyone's…" he said.

"Just when it comes to you humans…"

"Well, I can't blame you there. We're the worst scums to have ever infested the world. We do nothing but kill and destroy. Though, there are good people and this place is certainly filled with less blood… if you don't count the Empire…" he shook his head. "The journey is long but we have time."

"To attract danger."

"Why do you always think the worst of me?"

"I once shared a body with you."

Dimaria frowned deeply. "This is going to attract attention. What if they come before we reach Crocus?"

"We'll flee and enter the castle silently. Our visit is not even public knowledge, just as Invel did."

"But we're going there like this. Everyone will know."

"Not when we arrive. We'll hide. For now, we're just announcing that we're here. We were eventually going to deal with the Council… we may as well deal with them now. If they don't appear, we'll pass by the HQ…"

Playing dangerous games and saying so indifferently as if it was nothing. But then again, what would the Council do if he showed up like this, along with dragons flying up in the sky? Was it the same attitude Dimaria once carried? Did other people view her in the same way she viewed Naruto?

"Why didn't you use your dragons to come here?"

"Needless." Naruto replied. "But maybe I'll summon one for when we go back. It might cause quite the reaction," he said. "That reminds me… what do you think about restoring dragons to this world?"

"Why would you do that?"

"It just seems interesting. And the Empire will have power. Of course, we'd have to ensure that power is never abused."

Dimaria stared at him. "Both you and Irene were dragons… you could have created your little family of dragons…" she sneered.

Kurama laughed in response. "You missed a good chance there."

"That is not even remotely funny."

"From where you stand." Kurama grinned. "The descendants of the Uzumaki clan would have been dragons…" he laughed once more. "Well, you'd be the ones being used for your power, unless you chose to subdue the world."

"You're being cruel." Naruto said in a quiet tone. "You don't like the idea of having dragons as neighbors?"

"We'd be enemies of every other humans. Dragons are seen as dangerous and their powers far exceed that of humans. There would be constant fear." Dimaria replied.

Naruto smiled warmly.

"Stop looking at me like that… its unnerving!"

"Your maturity just surprises me. You'd never have thought such a thing before. I'm really proud things are like this…" He stared into the sky. "Still, it would be a shame if the race died down."

"Better for the Empire."

"And for the Dragons." Kurama added. "Did you go to warn those dragon hunters because you wanted to bring them out and didn't want them hunting your pets?"

"Something like that. Well, there is time to evaluate things…" Naruto said in thought.

The Following Day

Kurama came to a complete halt when he felt a distortion in front of them. He quickly transformed back into the human form without warning the two on him. But Naruto was alert, as the second his comfort zone disappeared, he quickly straightened himself and jumped onto a giant boulder.

He glanced at Dimaria who landed gracefully as well.

"A warning would have been nice…" she complained.

Nobody responded to her as they all focused on woman—who appeared in front of them. Selene landed down and sat on a boulder, smiling as she stared at Naruto.

The Emperor sighed. Dimaria was already in front of him seeing the tension in the atmosphere.

"It's okay," he said to her. "You'd get crushed anyway…" he added, sitting down on the boulder with one knee raised.

Dimaria did not argue because even if she took a defensive formation, she knew this woman in front of her was deadly powerful.

"You're persistent you, know? I thought I warned you to stay away from me?"

Selene smiled. "It didn't seem like you were going to do anything to me even if I moved. But if you truly thought there was a threat, you'd have tried to kill me after Acnologia."

"I didn't really care back them. As long as you didn't involve me in your schemes, I would have just been happy to pretend you didn't exists."

"And now?"

"Well, I could kill you if became a nuisance."

Selene laughed at the natural way he said it. "This coming from a person who used threats before when you had the chance and power to kill me."

"Say, Selene," Naruto said, changing the subject. "What do you think would happen if you and I mated? Would our child be a dragon or half human? I'm really curious about what would happen."

Selene lost her smile while Kurama laughed. His deep voice echoed through the terrain. "It wouldn't be funny if you weren't serious…" the Bijuu said.

Dimaria felt something twist in her stomach. How the hell was he serious about that? Was he really mad?

"You do have the sexual organ I could please…" Naruto added. "I understand though you look human, internally, you're still a dragon… so, that does make me curious. Would it even be possible?"

Selene didn't know whether to laugh or be offended, and so she remained neutral. The fact that the fox said he was serious about it made her curious. Then again, this was an unpleasant person.

"I wouldn't have any interest in you."

"Well, that is a shame. I've always thought you were an attractive dragon. Certainly would get me pumped up…" Naruto replied with a smile. "Perhaps I could interest you in the subject some other time."

"You've always been wary of me."

"And now I ask you this question." Naruto smiled. "Well, put it mildly, you aren't the biggest threat, in terms of power. Ignia is… and has always been. I just thought you were capable of more devious methods."

"Has he appeared before you?"

"He did… a rather unpleasant experience…" Naruto shook his head. "I suppose it is only a matter of time before he attacks me... for real…"

"You've surprised me… I always thought you were worse than Zeref. Despite everything, he was kind. I thought if you ever decided to take power, you'd do worse… but you've been working toward peace. it is actually laughable. Some times I think I'm dreaming."

"Isn't that because of a fundamental misunderstanding? I'm no worse than Zeref… well, I am not human, and I must act like one. What is wrong with acting for the best interests of my people?" Naruto asked. "I don't necessarily enjoy needless violence… if it doesn't serve any purpose."

"So you do care about your people and the only way you'd consider killing Ignia would be if he attacked your people…" Serene smiled, a portal opening. "That is good to know." She was gone after that.

"Well, this is why I went out to threaten her…" Naruto said calmly. "Well, I did say she is the first on the kill list."

"But it doesn't look like you want to kill her." Kurama shook his head. "When you first mentioned you were curious to see if she'd let you touch her, I thought you were joking... that perverted Sannin would really be proud."

"That woman just threatened setting one of the Dragons on the Empire you are thinking of shagging her?" Dimaria asked with disbelief. "Is Irene not enough for you?"

"And she might just do that," Naruto sighed deeply. "There is nothing wrong with having desires… and Irene does satisfy me… Lust is a satanic emotion that gets you craving all sorts of things."

"Disgusting." Dimaria sneered with contempt.

"Do I look like I care?" Naruto asked Dimaria with a stare. "We should visit her and the pin her down. Maybe she'll tell us what she wants. She knows the marks are all gone now, hence her bold moves."

"You could have used Delay to stop her from escaping."

"Ah," Naruto blinked, feigning surprise. "There was that option." He then shrugged. "Let us handle this and then go back home. Once we sort things out, we can pay her a visit. Ignia unnerves me, but she does not."

"Then you can go alone to her."

"What happened to having partner who can watch your back?"

"This is a mess of your own making."

"Unhelpful…" Naruto sighed. "Fiore awaits us… let us not keep Hisui waiting." He jumped down, and started walking.

Dimaria caught up to him. "Are those the threats we have to face?"

"Yeah… she scared you?"

"No… but doesn't look like someone I can defeat on my own."

"Hence you must become stronger. I wouldn't be concerned if it was just me. But you guys can't help yourself…" Naruto replied with a shake of his head. "Well, we shall see what tomorrow holds."

Crocus

It was still just about lunch time, the sun sitting pretty above the sky. Not even a cloud tried to block its rays from warming the planet. It was a little hot, but not too hot. People didn't seem to mind. The city was bubbling with joy despite the many tragedies it has seen—the invasion and the destruction by the Dragons after the Princess was fooled by a rogue man from the future.

Naruto looked away from the window and glanced back at the room. Kurama lay on the couch, Dimaria was sitting across, looking like she was bored and wanted to flee from the scene for something interesting.

They'd been here since morning. Word had been sent to the palace of their arrival around this time.

"You seem to enjoy sleeping too much," Naruto said to Kurama.

"That is all I have done since I was always sealed…" the Bijuu replied. "I am not human. I don't behave like you."

"Sure…" Naruto replied with a roll of his eyes. "Are you coming with?"

"I have no desire. Go, you'll find me here."

"Well, there you have it, Dimaria. We must go ourselves," he said with a smile. "Is this fine for the Emperor," he said of his clothing.

"You look like you're going to a funeral."

Well, he was dressed all black; a long coat with buttons and high collars. It had pockets in front, and a sash across the waist. On his shoulders, red sash hanged loose over his shoulders. He wore a thin pure black crown on his forehead. It was like a ring around his head. There was nothing fancy about it.

"If you approve, then I'm happy," Naruto said. "Put on the mask and we can go," he said. "If you were a shinobi, you could simply do a transformation technique. It came as a standard. But you're a wizard…' he shook his head. "Don't forget to suppress your Magic. We don't want trouble."

It didn't take long before they were in the streets. Dimaria looked at the happy people and frowned behind her mask. Not long ago, she was a part of a crusade that wanted to destroy everything. Of course, there was a reason, but that was just an excuse. They were itching for war. And they got their war.

The palace was nothing compared to the palace in Vistarion. The Majesty couldn't be compared. The guards didn't give them trouble. They seemed to know Naruto. As soon as they entered the building, Dimaria removed her mask. The guards tensed, but she ignored them.

Within the passage, the guards that led them to the castle stood behind, more behind Hisui and her minister. It was a little crowded, and would surely raise questions. Some of the guards would talk after today and there would be word spreading.

Well, it was not like Naruto was wanted by the Council. He wasn't part of the invasion and thus had no questions to answer.

"Queen Hisui," Naruto greeted the green haired young woman who stood in front of him. She'd grown a little from the last time he saw her. You'd not believe she was the mastermind that brought the Dragons into this world—even if there was another hand that pushed her.

He was thankful for her. He gained some pets and would eventually make dragons rejoin this world once more.

"Your Majesty," Hisui had a warm smile. She moved a bit closer. Her guards moved as well, wary of any wrong move from the Emperor.

She could understand. He may not be the one who led the forces here, but he was an Emperor of a nation that wronged them and tried to bring ruin into their nation. Nobody liked them here, but she at least thought they wouldn't be so cautious around Naruto, he was the one who saved the city from dragons some time ago.

"It is good that you made it," she said, holding out her right hand.

Naruto shook the hand in a gentle manner. "Thank you. I'm glad you're in fine health. We do apologize for having to make you arrange such measures to protect the meeting."

"I'm the one who called for it knowing the risks," Hisui shook her head. "Shall we?"

Naruto turned around. "You wait for me. I'm going to speak to her alone," he said to Dimaria.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." Naruto replied firmly. "I'll know if trouble occurs with you. But I doubt anything will happen."

"She is a wanted person here," Hisui said in a cautious tone. "Wouldn't you rather she stay somewhere in the castle? I was hoping you'd want to rest first. You must have had a long journey."

"We are used to this…" Naruto said with a shrug. "We're just going to talk. And we don't want to stay here longer than we should in case our friends from the Council decide to grace us with their presence."

"I understand…" Hisui turned to one of the guards. "Please show her to their quarters."

Hisui then led him into what was a meeting room. The room was dimly lit, guards standing outside, armed and ready for battle. The table within was long and rectangular. Hisui sat across him along with her Minister.

"Are you fine with things like this? I don't want you thinking we're not being receptive enough," Hisui said.

"You're too kind…" Naruto smiled warmly. "Don't worry… sometime in the future, when you visit Vistarion, my Empire will treat you well. This is by choice for me."

"Then your Majesty, your nation invaded our country, brought much destruction to our people. What do you have to say for that?" Darton went straight for the jugular with a hardened face.

His question didn't seem to go well with Hisui but before she could say anything, Naruto raised his hand and said it was fine.

"Please, don't be afraid to say what you think. It is a fact that we invaded this nation. I admit this. If we're going to go somewhere with our talks, you need to be able to speak freely. I came alone because I want you to be free," he smiled. "Some of my people would be like Darton-san here and would have reacted negatively to the question. But it is fine. It is just the three of us."

"When I was informed that you'd become the Emperor, I was truly glad. I remembered the words you told me back then and how you saved us. You were reasonable. That is why I wrote my letters. Had it been someone else, I wouldn't have written," Hisui admitted with a small smile.

"It is truly good to see you have not been plagued by guilt and have grown, Princess," Naruto said. "I worried that you would be crushed by what happened."

"It is still something that weighs on me. But it helps that I think about it… so not to make the same mistake again."

"I'm glad things are like that." Naruto said.

"My question still stands," Darton said with a stare. "You saved us from the dragons… I know that… but you've become the Emperor of the Empire that invaded our nation."

"What should I say about the invasion? It had nothing to do with me. By the time it occurred, I had already left the Empire. I went back because I was called back before things crumbled after the death of Zeref," Naruto replied in a sharp tone. "What do you expect me to say?"

"You did nothing."

"Was I supposed to do something? I killed Acnologia… is that not enough?"

"The Empire attacked us. There must be repatriations to be paid."

Naruto smiled. "You've done just fine without them. And if we refuse?"

"How can we hold any fruitful negotiations?"

It was at this point that Hisui spoke. "We want to move forward with peace between the two nations. We understand our position… but we simply can't move as if nothing happened."

Naruto leaned back on the chair and stared at the two with an expressionless mask. What did he tell them?

"Our Empire lost its emperor in the war. We lost lives as well. Of course, that doesn't make things okay. We invaded. There was no war. I cannot justify it because there is nothing to justify."

"Then? How do plan to make up for what happened?"

"I don't plan to do so. Zeref launched an invasion and paid for with his life. You're still fine, are you not?" Naruto replied casually. "I'm willing to admit we wronged you. Sign that declaration and explore ways we can move forward from it."

"Just the admission?"

"Yes."

"Well, it is not like we expected anything," Darton said. "We are very much concerned about the future. We will take the admission. But we worry that something like this could happen again. The Empire does have a history."

"On that regard, the Empire is willing to work out something to assure you of our motives. I admit the Empire has been wrong and I am trying to lead it into a new path. If you have any demands that would prove our truthfulness and improve relations, we will take part."

"We've not thought of anything to ascertain your truthfulness. Words and treaties can be torn apart."

Naruto smiled—it was just like in the Shinobi world. Words meant nothing. If interests of the village dictated you stab your allies, then that would happen. There was no concept of right or wrong.

In an ideal world, words should mean something.

"I understand… but we'll still have to sign those… while we look for methods that would make it difficult for the Empire to launch an attack," Naruto said in a thoughtful tone.

"For a symbol of friendship, how about Magic Games between the Empire and the Kingdom? We could host them each year," Hisui suggested.

"I good idea. Means even people from my Empire will come here to witness the games and people from here will go to the Alvarez… that will indeed foster good relations going forward," Naruto said in agreement. "I think we will pay a bit for the damage caused…" he added out of nowhere.

"You refused moments ago."

Naruto smiled. "Well, I see that you truly want to have better relations. And what better way to show our willingness and admission of guilt by paying for damages?"

Hisui had honestly not expected this and she thought Naruto made the decision on a whim. She smiled though. Maybe things would work out well in the future.

"Thank you," she said.

"Are you not worried about the Council?"

"It has a problem with the Empire and some members of your Empire but not you personally," Hisui replied. "There is nothing wrong in trying to form relations. I'm only doing things this way because I don't want them interfering."

Naruto nodded. "I see…" he said. "Are there any more demands?"

"In case we ever need military assistance, will the Empire ever be willing to help?" Darton asked.

"Sure," Naruto said.

"At no cost."

"You're being ridiculous." Naruto replied.

Darton smiled. "It doesn't cost anything to try," he said. "But if we're allies, shouldn't we naturally help each other because we're allies?"

"If it is a matter that threatens the very security of this nation or the royal family and our alliance, that help should be free," Naruto replied and then nodded his head. "We can do that but on any other things, if you want our power, you'll have to pay for it."

"I'm fine with that."

"When I say free, I mean you'll cover the costs. We won't seek profit."

"That is fine… more than we could ask," Hisui quickly replied before Darton could say anything.

"You can put this into writing. I'm going to Magnolia. When I go back home, I'll pass by here to sign the general terms. We'll have another round with other people in involved."

"We will host a banquet for the signing of the agreement and you'll say a few words, while admitting you were wrong," Hisui said.

"Sure." But he was not going to apologize for anything. "I'll send a message for when I return so you can prepare for our arrival. We'll probably have a chat with the Council to avoid getting you dragged into a conspiracy."

"That would be helpful." Darton said.

"That covers things," Naruto said as he stood up. "Thank you for having me. I look forward to having more talks in the future. And may this be the birth of a strong relationship between the Empire and the Kingdom."

"We hope so as well…" Hisui stood up as well, so did Darton. As they walked out of the room, Hisui spoke again. "Can't I interest you in lunch, or even tea? It doesn't feel right for you to just leave, and I want to talk to you about other things."

Naruto glanced at the Princess for a second and then sighed. "It would be my pleasure to lunch with the Queen."

"Everything is already prepared," Hisui said and then turned to Darton. "Have Arcadios summoned to the garden… and nobody is to disturb us."

"As you wish."

Few Minutes Later

The scenery was pleasant. Various flowers bloomed happily. The air felt fresh as if no human had Intoxicated it. What was missing were chirping birds. Being a dragon, Naruto had never cared for such things. He was human now. Time was limited. He got to value such things. It was amazing, just how some months ago, he wouldn't have enjoyed the scene. Back then, he'd not even cared for where he slept. Under a rock, a tree, beside river—he'd not cared then. As long as he could sit, he could doze off and not be worried about anything.

"Is there something wrong?" Hisui asked with concern. The second they'd arrived, Naruto's expression had become serious.

The Emperor faced Hisui with a small smile. There wasn't any hard things in front of them; a bottle of wine, some fruits and biscuits. It wasn't the best, but it was what he requested. Hisui had brought in large plates with different meals—a buffet.

A pity, he'd not been in the mood. He noticed however, she seemed disappointed he was refusing her hospitality and decided to have them prepare him food for his journey.

"Nothing," he said with a shake of his head. "Life is precious. There was a point in life that I didn't care for such moments. But sitting here, I find it refreshing," he smiled slyly. "Perhaps it is the company."

Hisui glanced away for a second. When she looked back, she had a warm smile.

"I'm glad my company is not intolerable," she said. "I wanted to sit with you… just to get to know you a little. I want to know the kind of person I am making deals with."

"I don't think you can take anything from me," Naruto said. "But we can talk magic. You're curious, aren't you? I took that gate… and also, I do look younger than before…"

"I am curious about that…"

"Various things happen. Magic is full of possibilities," Naruto replied vaguely. "As for that gate, I wanted to study it for some reasons. To be honest, I have studied various magic, even black arts. I've never discriminated. I have a library of magic that I have created but probably will never use." Whoever finds his temple will surely have found treasure. Perhaps he could move it deep under the royal palace in Vistarion. That way, not just anybody could access it. He could keep some important things where it was. "Ah, I would rather you didn't tell the Council I study black arts."

Hisui giggled in response. "Your secret is safe with me," she said. "What did you study?"

"I gate affects space and time. I wanted to know if it could open a portal to another dimension. There is a dragon that can do that willingly. There is another world that is a copy to this," he smiled thinking that there wouldn't be a copy of him in that world. "I wanted to see if it can be used for such methods. As a door way to such worlds."

"And?"

Naruto shook his head. "A failure," he said. "It was simply designed for a specific role. And the magic it requires to operate is too much."

"It does require too much magic…" Hisui said. "But I could help with altering it."

Naruto stared at the Queen curiously. "You could?"

Hisui smiled. "Or create something similar. I'm useless as a wizard, but there are things I can create…" she said with humility. "If possible, our cooperation could also include magical items."

"You really want things do work out for the best, don't you?"

"When the dragons came out of the gate, I knew I'd made a mistake. Worse, I was staring at doom. This city was almost turned into ruins. Even Dragon Slayers were useless against the dragons. And there was nothing I could do. I swore I would never watch something like that happen while being powerless. Yet, when the invasion occurred, I could only hide and hope for the best."

Royalty didn't need power. Kage ruled by strength. But Hisui still desired strength to be able to protect her nation. Even without strength, she wanted to be able to do things only she could do to protect her nation, her people; it was admirable. It was just a pity, the world was not kind.

"And we are here because you want to be sure you're doing the right thing."

"Am I?"

"Well, even if you were falling into a trap, I wouldn't tell you," Naruto replied with a smile. "I understand your desires. Even I work over night because I must protect the Empire. You learn to understand that no matter how strong you are, you cannot protect everything and everyone…" he smiled sadly. "I've resigned myself to the fact."

Even someone as powerful as him worried over such things. "Do you simply abandon those you can't protect?"

"Of course not. You always try… once you give up, you wont be able to protect anything. But the blow is bigger when you think you can protect everything. There is so much that we can do. And we must exhaust those efforts to be without regrets. We can fail or succeed. But we should not have regrets if we gave it our all," Naruto explained in a light tone. "I suppose you want to be able to do everything that you can."

"Yes… to protect everyone."

"A pity, this only happens in dreams."

"You're not even giving me hope."

"Because I don't want you to have such hopes. We're going to be partners. At least be realistic about what you can achieve and what you cannot do," Naruto said in a flat tone. "Give me your hand… left…"

Hisui hesitated for a moment before putting her hand on the table. Naruto took it. "Gentle hands…well, you're indeed a princess," he shook his head… "A queen…" he corrected himself. "This might hurt a little bit… it is a gift from me…"

"What is it?" Hisui asked cautiously.

"Don't be afraid. I might look untrustworthy, but I'm not with evil intentions… I do lie at times…" he admitted with a chuckle. "But you're the Queen of a nation my people invaded… I could have stopped it, but I did not…"

He wrapped his hand around Hisui's wrist. A black magic circle formed above his hand. Hisui closed her eyes as her arm burnt, she let out a soft moan before Naruto let her go.

"You're really too kind. And too trusting," Naruto shook his head. "You should not let people do this to you…"

"I took a leap of faith with you."

"Hahaha…" Naruto laughed. "That mark will soon disappear. In the event you're in danger or despairing over your inability to protect this city, I will show up…" he said. "That is the least I can do to ease your worries. We caused your kingdom great suffering but hope in the future, we will become friends…"

Hisui stared at her wrist. "Must I be worried?"

Naruto shook his head. "Do you want to create a magic contract with me? It is like a curse… If I have lied to you regarding this and there are some nasty things that the mark can do… I will combust."

Hisui shook her head. "There is no need…" she said.

"Too trusting," Naruto said and then snapped his fingers. The mark on Hisui's wrist shattered like glass before disappearing.

Hisui felt that it had been removed from her. "Why?"

"Don't trust people like that…" Naruto replied. "Once I have given you reason to trust me, I'll apply that mark for you again. Your trust for now, has no foundation. I cannot give it to you. Besides, if something were to happen to you tomorrow, I would get blamed. We're not trusted. And so, once those trust issues, have been dealt with, I can be free… When I come back, I'll put you at ease regarding methods to protect this place… that won't cost you anything."

Minutes later

Naruto had been with Hisui for about two hours and by the time Dimaria saw them again, they were quietly chatting together. It didn't seem normal to her. Even if Naruto had the ability to talk to anyone and get along with anyone when he wanted.

He seemed to say his goodbyes to Hisui and then walked up to her. He seemed happier. She frowned but quickly tried to get rid of it. If he noticed, he didn't show it.

"Done already?"

"Yes," Naruto folded his hands on his back. "Quite an interesting conversation with the Princess. And the dialogue regarding peace went well."

"You spoke to her on two different cases?" Dimaria asked, getting the feeling from his response.

"Yes."

"As long as there will be peace."

"Too young to be tired of fighting wars, Dimaria."

"I have seen enough battles that were needless," she said in a bitter tone. "We didn't see it like that then. We didn't care about anything. It was all for the glory of the Empire. Crushing those who didn't even threaten us…" she swallowed hard. "What a way of living."

"Nobody is truly innocent in life. But you learn as you grow up. The good thing is you've seen the error of your ways."

"Have you?" Dimaria asked with a stare as they walked through the palace.

Naruto smiled innocently. "What ever you mean by that?"

"I wonder what she will do when she realizes that you could done something to stop the invasion but were quite happy to just let it happen," Dimaria said, glancing back the Hisui. "She seems like a nice person. A pity, she is pitted with a cruel animal."

Naruto laughed. "That's taking it too far. It was not my choice to go to war. Zeref decided. I simply allowed things to run their course…" he shrugged. "But you're right, some of my actions in the past were complicit to evil. But I am human now… Besides, she knows."

"You say that like your heart has changed."

"I'm trying to find an excuse for my actions. Don't mess up my flow…" Naruto said. "Anyway, I didn't go out of my way to hurt innocent people. I had no cruelty some of you displayed." He glanced at her and then asked, changing the subject. "What do you think about trying to marry the Princess?"

Dimaria sneered. "I should have known you'd come up with something like that. Leave her alone. She is too pure for your vile flesh to be diluting her."

"Hahaha… well you're right about that… but I am not simply saying so because of lust or anything. They want something that will signify that Empire will not attack again. Maybe I should marry you off to her father."

"I'd murder you before that happens."

"Hmm… especially since I gave you the tools," Naruto said. "We'll figure something out. We should stop by a shop to buy you a nice dress."

Dimaria looked at him with disgust. "Have you seen me wearing a dress?"

"No, but you're going to wear one."

"I refuse."

"I'm fine with making you wear one. There is going to be a banquet hosted in this place. We will come back for it after we're done with business in Magnolia. It will be to celebrate new beginnings. We have to dress appropriately," Naruto said. "I say we, but I'm going on like this."

"So, am I. there is nothing wrong with what I am wearing."

"I think a crimson red will suit you…" Naruto said, ignoring Dimaria. "Well, we can always get it in Magnolia. Brandish has to get someone as well to cover up her nudity. I don't know what's wrong with women here… you seem to have a dislike for covering your bodies."

"I thought you enjoyed the view."

"Some things only reserved for special people. You can't enjoy things that are meant for the public."

"Your favorite child will not be happy to hear that."

"I don't even look at her that way," Naruto replied with a shrug. "Still, we must find a solution to this problem. Maybe by the time we come back, something will have come to mind."

"Good luck."

Outskirts of Magnolia

As the Town came into view, the sky was reddish with the sun disappearing into the other side; Dimaria felt uncomfortable just seeing it. She had no good memories of being at this place. And she blamed Naruto for giving her bad memories. Then again, others faced defeat, even she would have likely faced the same fate as others.

Brandish was waiting for them on the road ahead. Dimaria felt there was no need to rush up to her. She honestly did miss her but felt a pang of jealousy that caused her to be reserved.

"How are you going there with me?" Dimaria asked. She'd attacked this place and fought some members of the Guild.

"Yeah, they might attack you," Naruto smiled in thought. "That would be interesting."

"Be serious!"

"There are no conditions. We're just going there. If they try to attack, you're free to act however you please; beat them or grovel…"

Grovel? He was being ridiculous. But beating them would just make things worse and she had no intentions of such.

"I'm just going to hide behind you. I don't want any trouble."

"And here I thought you'd amuse me," Naruto sighed and glanced at Kurama. The Bijuu hadn't said much since they left Crocus. "Something on your mind?"

"I'm sleep walking."

"Maybe Dimaria will believe that."

"You can go into Town. I have no desire to be closer to more humans. I'm going to explore things around. I'll find you," Kurama said.

"Fine." Naruto said as they reached Brandish. Dimaria was the first to react to her presence.

"Randi!" Dimaria showed a happy expression and hugged Brandish—who didn't seem very enthusiastic. "I have missed you."

Brandish merely nodded as she separated from the blonde. "Your Majesty," she greeted without care, a look of someone who was being forced to do something she didn't want to do.

"Why does it look like you're not happy to see?" Dimaria asked with a stare.

"I'm just tired," Brandish replied casually. "I wasn't expecting you to come as well…"

"Naruto has me serving as his guard," Dimaria said as if it was the most bothersome thing to do.

"I don't envy you," Brandish replied.

Naruto took over. "Have you sorted out your issues?"

"Yes."

"Why did you not come back immediately?"

"I didn't come here at first. I made another stop," Brandish was calm despite Naruto's probing tone. "I arrived late and there was really no hurry to do things…"

"How I wish I could be as carefree as you."

Brandish smiled for the first time. "Advantages of being free and without responsibilities."

"So it seems," Naruto glanced behind her at the Town. "You did not cause trouble, did you?"

"No. It is deep within enemy territory with no help. Doing so would have caused me to make an effort to leave this place," Brandish replied.

Magnolia

Normal people didn't know Naruto was the Emperor of the Alvarez Empire. But they would surely recognize Dimaria. She was in some wanted posters even in the Town. The blond Emperor, was a little of a familiar face here having come here often before the invasion.

Makarov wouldn't have thought Naruto would become the Emperor after his refusal to take part in the invasion or even helping them. Sure he took care of Acnologia and his presence toward the end brought a swift conclusion to things, but he could have done better.

The Fairy Tail Master felt as if he'd aged twice upon seeing Naruto's frame, flanked by two women. The other had been around for a while now. He was surprised she made no trouble with them.

He was standing along the streets, waiting to greet the Emperor. The Town's people took notice and made way, with no one daring to block their path. Then again, they seemed and felt like giants.

"Your Majesty."

Naruto smiled. "Please don't call me that, Makarov-san…" he said with a wave of his right hand. "I didn't think you'd welcome us."

"You're the Emperor."

"Then where is the royal procession?"

"I'd have to get the people hypnotized to get them to agree to do so for a man who leads a nation that destroyed this place," Makarov replied without any contempt in his tone. He glanced at Dimaria and then frowned. "I wish you didn't bring her with you."

"You want to strangle her?"

"She hurt my children," Makarov said in a stern tone. "But having her here would cause problems with the Magic Council. I would have to explain things before being accused of collusion with a known enemy."

He wouldn't even be surprised if Rune Knights appeared in the Town with every intention to arrest her.

"Then I apologize… but I wanted to test your appetite for forgiveness."

Makarov glanced at Dimaria for a second and then replied with a sigh. "I'm not going to stop any of my children from attacking her. If they feel they must do something, I'll let them do it and I hope you won't hold them into account."

Naruto laughed at the request. "Dimaria will respond however she sees fit," he said. "But there will be no harming of your children, at least badly," he added with a smile.

"Follow me," Makarov said, turning around. "It is better to free the streets."

As they walked, Naruto turned to Dimaria and then spoke. "You have no friends, do you?"

"Do you?"

"I do. But even Brandish has no friends," Naruto shook his head. "Children born in battle. You've always kept to yourselves, but you must realize the beauty of friendship. I'll permit you two to go somewhere else while I handle my business… no, look for a hotel for us to stay. I'll find you once I've handled things. And be civil."

"I'm fine with that," Brandish said. She honestly didn't want to go to the Fairy Tail Guild knowing there might be some commotion.

"You can go."

Once the two turned away, Makarov spoke. "Are you planning to stay for a little longer?"

"You don't seem welcome to the idea."

"It is just going to cause us problems."

"A pity," Naruto replied indifferently. "Personal matters dictate I stay. But rest assured, I have no desire to cause any problems for you. Even if Rune Knights appear, we will try to cooperate with them in an understandable way, rather than violence. We didn't come to this country for conflict after all."

That shouldn't be surprising, considering Naruto wasn't an unreasonable person. Still, Makarov had not expected to hear such words from him.

The Guild was just as loud as Naruto remembered. The happy souls were going on about their business. It was such refreshing atmosphere. Maybe one day, the palace at Vistarion would become like this, not out of control, but just happy. He was certain that in his absence, there were those who were walking around with broad smiles.

Naruto refused the offer from Makarov to wait for Erza in his office. He sat on the bar counter and was given a full jug of beer by Mira. He told her to get another one as he took a huge gulp, almost emptying it.

"Been a while," he said to her with a smile, seeing her expression. "So, what is happening with the Magic Council, should I be worried about something?" He asked Makarov without looking at him.

"Aside from the good changes that occurred, nothing much is happening," Makarov glanced at Naruto through the corner of his eyes. "You wouldn't happen to know the man by the name of Minato, do you?"

Naruto raised an eye brow. "Am I supposed to know?"

"Maybe."

Naruto just shrugged with indifference. "What about the Dragon Gods… are you people planning anything about them?"

"There have been discussions but nothing has been done yet…" Makarov replied. "What exactly did you come here to do? Fiore, I mean."

"Peace talks with the royal family."

This surprised Makarov. "How is that going?" he asked curiously.

"So far, so good…" Naruto replied and then fell silent, thinking about how he was going to handle things with Erza.

As if reading his mind, Makarov asked. "I know you know her mother, but why you? Why so much interest in her?"

"She is a good child. I grew up without both parents. They died on the night was born. There was no abandonment. When we grow without them, we really don't need them even in our adulthood. But I still think every child deserves a parent. Even if her mother cannot be a parent, I want to be able to help her. I know it will please her mother." He smiled, thinking about Irene's attitude. "What makes things complicated is that Irene would have no problem killing Erza's friends but would still not kill her own daughter. So her love only extends as far as Erza."

"Doesn't seem motherly…"

"Indeed," Naruto nodded in agreement. "I can only lend support that Erza is able to get through her life situations and can protect what she values the most… her friends and this guild."

"You came for that?"

"Yes…" as if on cue, Erza stepped through the Guild's doors. "You got a problem with that?"

"No."

"Good." Naruto jumped from the counter and landed gracefully. He walked toward Erza, ignoring everyone else. He stopped in front of her, hands folded on his back. "Follow me…" he instructed. He didn't wait for her response before walking past her.

Given his looks and her attitude, she was unlikely to see him as a father figure. Maybe if he was old like Makarov but he looked to be around her age. Perhaps a brother would be fine. Even though he was sleeping with her mother.

It was a little laughable to be honest.

They arrived outside, and he led her under a tree. He stopped and spoke without turning to face her.

"I'll do away with the pleasantries. You already know why I made contact with you and why I'll continue to do so…" he turned around to face her. "I have learned to care for you. And if your mother ever does try to do something bad, I would punish her for you."

Erza spoke for the first time, her voice filled with emotion, but a clear look on her face. "I don't think she will do anything to harm me or my friends."

"It is nice you believe that…" Naruto smiled and then held out his right hand. The space distorted before he withdrew a sheathed sword. The sheath was pure black, and so was the sword's hilt. He threw the sword toward Erza.

Erza caught it with both hands but almost dropped it. She was used to heavy things but the sword was heavy.

"Over the next couple of days, I'll teach you how to use that sword. For today, you can swing it around. It is the sword you saw me use against the dragons. I want you to have it, to be able to protect your friends with," he said, walking toward her. He smiled as he put a hand on her shoulder. "You can call me brother…. I know we have no emotional connection. I hope it develops as we cross blades," he said. "How are things with Jellal? You two dating yet?"

The question seemed to catch her off guard and her confident face was replaced with a blush.

"He isn't around a lot. He is busy with Magic Council duties."

"That's not what I asked… but you should put pressure… you do like him, don't you?"

She stared at him.

Naruto laughed. "Jellal is somewhat of a friend of mine," he said. "I'll see you tomorrow at around 8am… I'll wait for you at the guild…"

An Hour Later

Dimaria didn't find a hotel but rented a whole flat. Naruto observed the place with an expressionless mask; a full wet kitchen, a lounge and a dinning place. He hadn't thought this much was needed.

"Don't look at me," Dimaria replied, sitting on a sofa with her kegs spread. "Brandish is the one who found the place."

"And I suppose she is paying for it."

"Maybe," Dimaria shrugged, and returned the stare. "I cant believe you gave her your sword. That is a precious weapon I wouldn't have minded to have."

"It wouldn't have suited you," Naruto replied and then slouched on the sofa beside Dimaria. "Where is Brandish?"

"She said she was going to take a walk… or something." Dimaria replied with a frown. "I sense she doesn't seem to be too pleased to see me."

"She is just going through some stuff," Naruto said with a wave of his right hand. "We will stay here for a week and then go back to Crocus for the banquet. For now, keep a low profile."

"What are you going to be doing?"

"Training with Erza. She needs to get better use of the sword…" Naruto said. "Did Jacob come here?"

"Are we expecting him?"

"Yes."
