Chapter 9 - Monster
Beacon Dance, shortly before the interrogation
As the party continued, Ruby continued to struggle to walk in the high heels. Which she dubbed as medieval torture devices and the dress wasn't something she liked either. Ruby felt like she was naked in public and forced to to walk around with no sense of gravity.
"Stupid heels." Ruby muttered.
"Are you enjoying yourself Miss Rose?" Ozpin asked, suddenly appearing behind her.
"Oh! Professor Ozpin! I, honestly I could do without the heels." Ruby said being straightforward.
"I can tell, though I would have to say that it gives you a hint of elegance." Ozpin complimented.
"Thank you, but I think elegance is something more Weiss' style." Ruby replied.
Ozpin then turned his head, "I think Miss Schnee is a bit busy at the moment with her brother." he said.
Ruby turned her head as well to find Jiraiya dancing with his little sister. Weiss looked really hesitant and tried to pull out, but apparently her brother had more skill than foolishness as a dancer. A bit too much flash in his steps too from the looks of things.
"Okay that's enough! I'm feeling sick!" Weiss said as Jiraiya spins her again.
"Let loose a little Weiss, a little dance won't hurt." Jiraiya said.
"It feels like I'm in some fast food restaurant party! Like in those movies about break dancing!" Weiss said as she was dipped.
"Then you little sister, have yet to learn to let loose." Jiraiya replied.
Ozpin shook his head, "Perhaps I should have Glynda distract him." he said. "Enjoy the rest of the dance Miss Rose." He said before leaving.
Ruby blinked as she was still watching the dance, "That looks fun. I should ask Naruto to dance with me. He won't tease me or anything." she said as she stumbled around to look for her adoptive brother.
As Ruby looked around the dance for him. Even going as far as to go outside and look. Where she thought that maybe Naruto decided to get some fresh air from the stuffy room. Instead, Ruby heard some fighting or something in the near distance. Where she found two unconscious Atlas soldiers lying on the ground.
"So much for security." Ruby said before seeing a figure run towards the CCT Tower. "Damn it, I guess my dance is interrupted." she said as she reached for the whip she kept with her.
Ruby then proceeded to stumble towards the tower. As she had a bad feeling that someone was doing not so legal things up there. Unless there was a strange holiday going on where you beat up your local militia.
Back at the dance
Naruto jugged down a drink from the punch bowl, "Maybe the heat is just from these stupid suits." he said to himself.
"You want to take your shirt off then?" Yang asked as she also grabbed a drink.
"If Sun is allowed to run free, why can't I?" Naruto asked.
Yang shrugged, "I don't know really, but I know Weiss is going to get mad if she sees this." she said as she saw Sun dancing between a group of women.
"Someone wants to get lucky." Naruto commented. "I wish my teammate wasn't so stiff." he said as he could see Squall and Blake trying not to look at each other.
"Kitty is just nervous. It's funny really, I guess the two of us screwed up as kids." Yang said with a sigh.
Naruto let out a sigh as well, "Well Squall and I both lost our families. So I can tell he's not exactly ecstatic about being near her." he said as he continued drinking. "Still, I remember that weird feeling he had. Almost like he wanted Blake's attention." he said.
"Like he wanted to be friends again?" Yang asked.
Naruto shrugged, "Maybe, then again he probably overheard Blake defend the White Fang." he said.
Truthfully, Squall did share a bit more about his past. Though the guys were all willing to let him keep some secrets to himself. Mostly the ones that hurt him the most like his childhood. However, that didn't mean Naruto and the other guys would blurt out that Squall is Seinna's son. Regardless, it just proved that Squall has a negative opinion of the White Fang overall.
"Oh." Yang said as she felt embarrassed for her teammate.
"I'm sure those two will smooth things over. I hope at least." Naruto said. "Oh yeah, how's our experiment going?" he asked.
The two looked over the table to see a clone in the form of Yang greeting guests and doing the real Yang's job. Luckily, Naruto managed get a good detailed look at Yang as to avoid another accident like with what happened to Ruby. The last thing he wanted to hear were that the chest size is off or the eyes look droopy or some excuse about why it looks bad.
"I think they are doing well." Yang said as the clone just silently stood there. Then the music started to change up, "Hey Naruto, do you wanna… you know?" she asked.
"I know what?" Naruto asked, sounding dense.
"We're at a dance so…" Yang tried to imply something.
"I'm not in the mood to get hammered." Naruto said teasing Yang.
He had a very good idea of what Yang wanted. Only he wanted to see if she was brave enough to go forward with it. Naruto really did feel like he had a lot in common with Yang, only she wasn't as smart. Not that Naruto considered himself a genius, but his years alone and with Ruby made him more aware of details that surround him.
"No, just… dance with me?" Yang asked.
"Sure." Naruto said as Yang's mood brightened. "But I'm warning you. I'm not exactly graceful." he said.
Yang slowly grabbed his hands, "You won't have to worry. Uncle Qrow is a hot mess when he tried forcing Akame to dance with him." she said.
"Who's Akame?" Naruto asked.
"My cousin… well she's Ruby's cousin too. I just never had the chance to tell her with everything going on." Yang answered as she adjusted Naruto.
Where she gently placed his hand on her hip. Then gently gripped Naruto's hand with her free hand. Before the two started waltzing around. Despite some hiccups and near incidents. The two got the gist of the dance before having fun on the dance floor. Though it wouldn't last too long as they would wonder where Ruby went. Both unaware that the young Rose found herself a different dance partner outside of the physical dance itself.
Back with Ruby
As Ruby followed the intruder up the elevator. As she made it to the top, she heard a loud of thumping and unless Ozpin really did decide to cut costs on maintenance to buy more coffee. Ruby could only assume there was more trouble on the way. For once the doors opened, Ruby drew her whip as she stumbled inside.
"Damn it, stupid heels!" Ruby cursed as she kicked them off.
That's when she noticed the unconscious Atlas soldiers on the floor. Along with some Catwoman knock off come out from behind the computers.
Unknown to Ruby, this woman is Cinder Fall. Who is supposedly a student from Vacou and briefly flirted with her brother. Not that Ruby could recognize her as the younger girl vaguely remembered Cinder's face and wouldn't identify her by the orange eyes and dark hair.
"It's not a masquerade. Just because you have a big ugly zit, you shouldn't cover up half of your face." Ruby taunted back.
The woman sneered as she threw several dust crystals into the air.
Ruby quickly ran around the computers as Cinder launched the dust at Ruby. As the crystal exploded right behind her. Ruby slammed her whip towards Cinder who rapidly jumped away as Ruby made quick slashes. Cinder decided to try and keep her distance despite the small space they have. Where Cinder then generated a bow and arrows with fire.
Ruby quickly dodged the attack with Petal Burst. Quickly moving around the older woman as she kept firing arrows at the fast girl. Only to find a foot connecting with her abdomen, sending her crashing into a wall. Ruby then pulled out an axe and threw it towards Cinder's head. Cinder rolled away and generated two swords with her fire. By now, Ruby felt that she had some idea as to what this woman's semblance is.
'Two can play at that game.' Ruby thought as Cinder brought down her swords.
With Ruby blocking the attack with a sword she pulled out nowhere. Cinder gritted her teeth as Ruby managed to turn the force against her and made Cinder fall onto the floor. With the quick leg sweep, Cinder took away Ruby's balance and attempted to impale her with one of her swords.
*CLANG*
Cinder's eyes widened as Ruby blocked the sharp blade's tip with her hand. Upon closer examination, Cinder could see that something formed itself onto Ruby's palm. With how quick she had to react, Cinder never realized it was a material similar to ice but ended up chalking it off as aura. Leaving her open for Ruby to punch her in the eye with an ice coated fist. Cinder let out a cry of pain before being kicked into the wall again.
Just as Ruby came closer to finishing Cinder off. Cinder snarled as she threw a dust crystal at Ruby and sparking it with her fire. Causing the explosion to send Ruby crashing near the elevator doors.
'I think I made her real mad now.' Ruby thought before she avoided several arrows aimed for her head.
Ruby quickly recovered and started throwing knives at Cinder who leaped around them. If this fight was to be compared to a dance. It would be like watching a simple waltz turn into some intense salsa. Sadly, it was General James Ironwood decided to end the party by arriving in the elevator. Where the man only saw Ruby throwing sharp weapons around while there was several unconscious Atlas soldiers outside.
By the time Ruby noticed the general. James fired his gun three times into Ruby's chest before noticing Cinder briefly leap out and escape the tower. Leaving James to realize his mistake as Ruby fell limp right before Glynda and Ozpin appeared.
"James!" Ozpin yelled just before noticing Ruby on the ground. "What have you done!?" he asked, losing all form of composure for once.
At the dance, shortly after Blake confronts Adam
"Who's telling the truth?" Yang asked.
"Both of them." Naruto said shocking Yang.
"Hold up, I thought you said you can sense lies. Wasn't that one your semblances?" Yang asked.
"I can't consider something to be a lie if they believe what they say is the truth." Naruto answered as best he could.
"What?" Yang asked, sounding confused.
"Can you tell me what's the circumference of the sun?" Naruto asked.
Now Yang's head started to hurt, "72?" she asked.
"I can't confirm questions Yang." Naruto said.
"We're not here to talk about math!" Blake exploded. "We're here to talk about him!" she said while pointing at Adam.
Adam raised up his hands defensively, "I already said my piece. I haven't done anything and Blake is just causing drama." He said.
"That sounds like a convenient excuse." Blake shot back.
"I'm serious! You came up to me!" Adam argued.
"Enough! Bickering back and forth isn't clearing anything up!" Yang yelled.
"Besides, Ruby and I found Adam unconscious by some railroad." Naruto said catching Blake's attention. "Adam here could barely remember his name when we found him. I tried taking him to a doctor but there was literally nothing they could do for him." he said.
Now Blake felt confused, "Then why bring him with you?" she asked.
"I can't help but abandon some guy I found Blake. Adam was half and all messed up when we found him. He's even a good friend for Ruby." Naruto said as Adam nods.
Blake shook her head, "T-That doesn't excuse who he really is. Adam has done some things" she said.
Yang sighed, "Blake, if what Naruto is saying is true and Adam has amnesia." she said.
"Which I do and I don't like being accused of being a terrorist either." Adam interrupted.
"Then, he's not here to harm us." Yang said. 'I hope.' she thought.
"That and even I even asked Professor Ozpin when I met him before the semester started." Naruto adds.
"See? He… wait, how did you know him?" Yang asked.
Naruto groaned, "It's a long story." he answered.
"And a reminder to not let Ruby roam around Vale on her own." Adam adds with Naruto nodding.
Yang sighed, "I… I don't even know what to say about that." he said.
Before they could further grill Blake over the information she has and whether or not she told the truth about Adam. Ozpin came in looking a bit frantic.
"Mr. Belmont, Miss Xiao Long, I need you to come with me at once!" Ozpin said.
"Uh okay, is something the matter?" Naruto asked nervously.
"I think it's best we take this to a more private scene." Ozpin said sounding very serious.
Sometime later, with Ozpin's group
"You screwed up Jim."
James Ironwood, a capable and well respected leader of the Atlas military. With his years of service and sacrifice for his home. Ozpin deemed him worthy of joining his little secret group and explained a dark secret that's been kept since ancient times. So ancient, that it all started before the moon itself was cracked. Only lately, Ozpin questioned himself as to whether or not it was a good idea to let James into the group. As the man's age or at least his mental state is degrading.
Along with Qrow Branwen and Glynda Goodwitch, Ozpin found himself bringing in a fairly young man named Jiraiya Schnee. The twin brother of Winter, one of Ironwood's officers. As well as a talent prodigy since he was a small child. However, it wasn't skill alone that caught Ozpin's attention but the man's intelligence and skills in a spy network that goes beyond Qrow's skills. Right now, if Qrow had to agree with Jiraiya on anything.
It would be that James Ironwood made a really bad mistake.
"I understand, however given the situation. I could not risk the intruder escaping." Ironwood replied to Jiraiya's comment.
"You shot a 15 year old kid!" Jiraiya said angrily.
"And she lived, what concerns me is how. Her aura shield didn't defend her nor did it begin to heal her." Ironwood said, completely ignoring the situation.
While Jiraiya is a perverted goofball that acts like a slacker. He's a caring older brother and loves his family despite the mess that they have become. Jiraiya could only imagine if that was Weiss or Whitley that was shot and Ironwood acted like it was a minor inconvenience. The eldest Schnee was about a hairline away from socking Ironwood right in the face. He didn't mainly because Glynda was holding him back with her semblance's control over gravity.
"Jiraiya, while I may almost consider physical discipline to be necessary." Glynda said surprising Ozpin and Ironwood. "I think we should try to compose ourselves and look at the situation at hand." she added.
"Glynda is correct, about the situation and not the physical violence." Ozpin said as he refilled his mug. "Starting with the intruder. It's safe to say that Miss Rose is not responsible for attacking the Atlas soldiers. As the remaining active cameras had caught the image of a disguised assailants who tampered with the tower and likely stole sensitive information." he explained.
"And while my men did try to locate them. They likely disappeared among the crowd at the dance." Ironwood said.
Jiraiya scoffed, "I'm sure they would have just shot the first student they saw if given the chance." he said bitterly.
"Jiraiya." Glynda said crossing her arms.
While Glynda does seem like a mean and bossy teacher. The woman deeply cares for her students and just wants to them be safe and take care of themselves. Sure she was very annoyed with Ironwood treating Ruby's injuries as if he had accidentally taken food from someone else's fridge. In other words, accepting that the incident had happened and that he made a mistake, but not really caring as much.
"The girl survived Schnee. By unnatural means, as if her flesh were able to reattach itself. Something that aura can never do I might add." Ironwood said bringing up good points.
Ozpin thought this over as he drank his coffee, "Glynda, did you not give a similar report?" he asked.
Glynda nodded, "I did, back with Miss Rose was attempting to fight Roman Torchwick during the robbery of a dust shop. While Torchwick attempted to escape, he threw a hand grenade or a small explosive that detonated close enough to badly damage Miss Rose's face." she explained.
"And she survived an explosive to the face?" Jiraiya asked suspiciously.
"Believe me, I was not sure of what I saw. Only I had to leave the child's body behind and call in for an ambulance after I attempted to apprehend Torchwick. Only to find Miss Rose in perfect health just a short while later. Singed clothing and all, but a part of my imagination for some time." Glynda explained as everyone digested the story.
"Is it here semblance? Everyone who unlocks their aura has a unique ability and a lot of them are passive." Jiraiya said as he met a few odd figures with strange powers.
He also knows that some people have a semblance that acts passively. Similar to Qrow's misfortune which is either always active or activates at random points. While he never Nora, the ginger haired girl's semblance is technically always active as it prevents her from experiencing pain from electrical shocks to the body. Squall Lionhart would also count as his semblance lets him detect anyone hostile intent, only making it worse on himself as he closed off his trust for others.
"Your theory has merits Jiraiya, but that is not the case. For Miss Rose's semblance is the ability to burst into petals to gain speed and no one has ever gained a second semblance." Ozpin replied.
Unless he was to count Naruto, but his semblance is just overpowered. Basically using any semblance from anyone who he has a strong bond with. Though Ozpin doesn't know the limits and isn't sure if he should pry the last Belmont about it.
Meanwhile, Ironwood was thinking over what he heard. As the idea of someone being able to regenerate through unnatural means left him thinking about Ruby's potential. Not just the girl alone, but seeing if this ability could be replicated or if there was a way to study it. Though by now, he learned that he can't do it by shooting the girl again.
In the infirmary
Weiss and Blake ran (to the best of their ability in heels) towards the infirmary where Ruby was. While the details were not very specific on the accident. The girls were very concerned about what happened to their team's leader.
"What do you think happened?" Blake asked.
"I don't know, Ruby is hard to predict, but she's not stupid." Weiss answered as she looked worried.
"No! No, get it away from me!" they heard Ruby shout.
Weiss and Blake picked up the speed and ran in to find Ruby wailing her arms around. Ruby is no immediate danger, but she was trying to keep some medicine away from her. Which was prescribed by the nurse as to deal with the pain of taking three shots to the chest. Not that being shot at it is a natural thing. With very few victims being able to survive such an event. However, Ruby is acting like a child and pushing the medicine back.
"Ruby, take your medicine. The nurse told you what to do and you need to listen." Naruto said.
Ruby shook it, "I don't want it!" she argued.
Ruby technically didn't need it and Naruto knew that, but they wanted to avoid getting anyone's attention. Unfortunately, Ruby is being stubborn as Naruto wanted to keep things looking natural. At least Weiss and Blake just assumed that Ruby didn't want the medicine due to thinking it was bitter in taste.
"Ruby, are you okay?" Weiss asked as she approached her friend.
"I'm good Weiss, but I could do without crazy army guys pointing their guns at me. Also, tell my brother that I don't need the medine!" Ruby yelled.
Weiss sweat dropped, "Even in a hospital bed, you're still a dolt." she said.
"But I'm your dolt!" Ruby replied.
Weiss sighed, "I guess you're right. Now take your medicine!" she commanded.
"No!" Ruby yelled.
"Ruby won't take her medicine." Weiss answered as Ruby looked away.
"Did you get the stuff?" Naruto asked.
Yang smiled, "Yeah, I used this combo whenever Ruby was being stubborn as a toddler." she said as Ruby glared. Yang then pulled out a box of cookies, "Ruby, would you take your medicine for a Ruby snack?" Yang asked as she pulled out a chocolate chip cookie.
Ruby glared and shook her head.
Yang sweat dropped, "Okay, how about two Ruby snacks? Three?" she asked as Ruby pouted. "You want the whole box?" she asked nervously.
Ruby relented, "I'll want it with milk." she said.
Yang nodded as she pulled out a carton of milk and gently handed it over to Ruby. With Naruto giving her the medication she needed.
"Good girl! You need that milk to be tall me." Naruto said as he stroked the girl's hair.
"This is weird." Blake commented.
"How is it weird? Ruby is still a growing girl and she's behaving by drinking her milk." Naruto said just as Ruby finished.
"More cookies please!" Ruby said as she reached out to Yang.
"One at a time Ruby. I don't want you to choke." Yang said as Ruby pouted.
"I won't! Now gimme!" Ruby said.
Weiss sighed, "I should have expected this. You always know how to stay optimistic." she said.
"Cookie?" Ruby handed a cookie to Weiss as she asked.
"No thanks." Weiss answered.
"That's rare Weiss, Ruby doesn't normally share." Naruto said while the younger girl kept eating.
The next day
Ruby glared at Yang, "I'm not an old lady!" she whined.
"I'm just keeping you safe Ruby. You barely got discharged." Yang said as she helped walk Ruby.
"Then why do we have to move so slowly?" Ruby asked.
"Baby steps." Yang answered as Ruby groaned.
The two were currently walking towards to Ozpin's office. Where the headmaster of Beacon wanted to get Ruby's input about the incident last night. The one where she fought Cinder who was in disguise. Right before Ironwood shot her at near point blank range.
"Now remember not to say anything offensive or mean spirited. Because that's what I would do, haha." Yang said as they arrived outside of Ozpin's doors.
Ruby sighed, "I know how to behave Yang. Now let go." she said as she pushed her sister away.
Yang gave a weak giggle as she patted her sister on the back, "I'll be here. Even if you don't need me." she said sounding a bit weak at the end.
In Ozpin's Office
Once inside, Ruby saw sitting behind his desk with Glynda by his side and General Ironwood beside the desk. Ruby mentally shuttered as she really hoped this respected military general wasn't going to shoot her again. That and she remembered that crazy guy who screamed about how threatened he felt when he saw the fleet of Atlas ships before screaming about Ironwood allegedly suppressing his rights. If it wasn't for that slight bit of fear, Ruby would be wondering why Jiraiya, Weiss' brother, is also here.
"Good morning Ruby, I see you looking a bit better." Ozpin said while Glynda glared at Ironwood who seemed unfazed.
"With all due respect Professor Ozpin, I feel worse than I do." Ruby said, almost seeing Glynda give her a sympathetic look.
Ironwood cleared his throat as he approached Ruby, "Ruby, while some regretful things happened last night." He said.
'You shot an innocent child.' Jiraiya and Glynda thought.
"You were still able to recognize a threat, took action, did the best you could and came back alive. That is the true meaning of being a huntsmen." Ironwood said sounding somewhat impressed.
Ozpin decided to move on with the topic, "Now then, seeing as you had the opportunity to recover. We were wondering if you had anything to add." He said.
Glynda stepped forward, "Did she look familiar to you? Did she say anything? Was there anyone else with her?" she asked.
Ruby tried to think of an answer, "I didn't see her very well, but she was wearing a mask. She was mostly silent, so a woman of few words I have to say." she said before remembering a detail. "Oh and she used this ability with glass. I don't think it was her a part of her semblance, but her clothes did light up and she could summon weapons with fire or something like that." she explained.
"Imbuing clothing with dust is an ancient technique." Ironwood points out.
"But I do remember someone did the same with glass during the night of the robbery before the start of the semester." Glynda spoke up.
"Like the same person who helped Torchwick and maybe the White Fang too?" Ruby asked earning a nod from Glynda. "Could they be working together?" she asked, as she briefly remembered Glynda fighting someone with the same power as the intruder.
If it weren't for an accident during the initial fight with Roman at the dust store in Vale. Ruby would have found herself having already battled Cinder twice. Ruby mentally laughed as she remembered throwing all of those sharp weapons at the Paladin Roman stole. Since one of her projectiles carried a mini explosive device she carried.
'Stupid crook, he blows up my face so I blew up his face.' Ruby thought victoriously.
"It would make sense. I mean, what are the chances it's not the same person Glynda?" Jiraiya asked.
"Then I think I remember her muttering something when I arrived at the tower." Ruby said.
"But I thought you said…" Glynda said before Jiraiya interrupted.
"A woman of few words Glynda. It doesn't mean this cat burglar is mute, but then again. The kid could still have whiplash and just remembered some details." Jiraiya points out.
"Still, we do not have enough evidence to prove all of this." Ozpin interjected.
Ruby mentally smirked, "It's probably the whiplash, but I think she did briefly mention a hideout. Outside the kingdom I think, by the southeast maybe?" she said while pretending to be unsure.
Ozpin briefly smiled at the answer, "Interesting." he said as he likely caught onto Ruby's ploy. "Thank you for your time Miss Rose. Perhaps you should go and spend time with your teammates or your brother, Mr. Belmont." he said as he dismissed her.
Ruby nodded as she left the office. Leaving Ozpin and the rest of his group to continue talking while adding Ruby's account to the little information they have.
A brief while later
Adam was giving Josuke an intense stare, "We need to talk." he said.
"Okay, about what?" Josuke asked.
"Why do you always wear the uniform?" Adam asked.
"Because it's part of the rules. It's a fancy academy after all. So, discipline I guess." Josuke answered.
Adam sighed, "You literally wear no other clothes Josuke. I think it's time we addressed this." he said.
Josuke suddenly looked nervous, "Uh." Is all he could say.
"Do you not have any other clothes?" Adam asked.
Before Josuke could come up with an answer for his awkward situation. Naruto came in with a box and a solemn expression on his face. Leaving Josuke to turn his team's attention towards their comrade.
"Hey, Naruto! What do have there?" Josuke asked.
"This? I was picking up our mail before checking on Ruby and someone sent you this Josuke." Naruto answered as he handed the box over.
"Sweet, it's from mom." Josuke said as he started opening it.
"It's probably extra clothes." Naruto said as Josuke frowned.
"Guys, I have a very good reason for mostly wearing my uniform. Also, if you think about it. Why do we have our casual clothes on when we train or fight in the amphitheater?" Josuke asked.
That did sort of make sense. Even on the first day, Weiss had to fight the Boarbatusk in Professor Port's classroom. Where she had to quickly change back into her normal clothes. It's like Beacon cannot provide gym clothes or design the uniform to handle fights. Josuke has the advantage of repairing his clothes with his semblance.
"It's a good point." Squall said, speaking up for the first time.
"You don't care about this conversation, do you?" Adam asked.
"Not in the slightest." Squall answered.
"Attention all First Year Students, please report to the Amphitheater." Glynda said via the loudskpeaker.
"You heard the lady. Let's go!" Josuke said as he dropped his box and ran out the door.
"What did he get?" Naruto asked.
"Hair care products, detergent and… extra clothes." Adam said as Naruto laughed.
"How's your sister anyways?" Squall asked.
Naruto sighed, "She won't show it, but she's a bit terrified." he answered.
"I'm sure Ruby will bounce back. She's got good friends in her teammates right?" Adam asked before they left.
"I hope so, the whole team is a bigger mess than us." Naruto answered.
"We're a different kind of mess." Squall interjects.
At the amphitheater
Once the first year students arrived. They found the exchange students from all four kingdoms were here too. It was most likely some important message about the Vytal festival or something about maintaining the peace between the four kingdoms since the war ended so many years ago.
"Professor Ozpin would like to share a few words before we begin." Glynda said at the podium.
"Today we stand together, united. Mistral, Atlas, Vacuo, Vale, The Four Kingdoms of Remnant." Ozpin said sounding serious as ever. "On this day, nearly 80 years ago. The largest war in recorded history had come to an end." he began to say.
Everyone paid close attention to the speech as they briefly looked around. Some wishing to take the meaning of all four academies meeting in one place as a sign of unity.
"It was a war of ignorance, of greed and oppression. A war that was about much more than where borders fell or who traded with whom. But about the idea of individualism itself." Ozpin continued to speak. "We fought for countless reasons and one of thos reasons being the destruction of all forms of art and expression. As you are all aware, that was something that many could not stand for. As a result, there were those who opposed this tyranny and starting by naming their children after on the core aspects of art." he explained.
Naruto wrapped an arm around Ruby's shoulder as the girl lied her head against his shoulder.
"Color. It was their way to demonstrate that not only did they refuse to tolerate this oppression, but neither were the generations to come. We encourage expressionism through individuality." Ozpin said before getting to the main point. "That is why today, we stand together. However, this bond cannot exist forever. That is why while the rest of the world celebrates, huntsmen and huntresses." he said just as several screens came to life.
"And back to work we go." Josuke muttered.
"As first year students, you will all be shadowing a huntsmen or huntress on a mission. You may be taken out of the kingdom for several days; others may work within the walls for the week." Ozpin explained as the missions appeared on the screens. With that, Ozpin finished up, "Remember to stay safe, remember your training and remember to do your very best." He said before leaving the stage.
"This is perfect!" Ruby spoke up. "We can shadow a huntsmen in the Southeast!" she suggested.
Naruto snorted, "You sure you can handle it?" he asked.
Ruby playfully punched his chest, "I'm a big girl! I can handle it and with the power of milk too!" she said.
Like many strange tales, Naruto said that milk would give Ruby power. For a child who can give Pyrrha difficulty in a fight, Ruby still has at least an ounce of innocence left in her.
"Fine, I'll go talk to the guys and we'll get our own mission." Naruto said before joining up with his group.
As Naruto left, the girls settled on the idea of going southeast. Where they hoped to find Roman's hideout and stop him. However, as they chose an available mission for their shadowing assignment. The girls immediately learned that none of the missions allowed any first years.
"That's a big issue. How are we going to get there now?" Weiss asked.
"We could try mailing ourselves." Ruby suggested.
"Does Naruto have a shrinking semblance to help us with that?" Weiss asked.
Ruby thought it over, "You cannot be serious." Blake said.
"No, I don't think he has a semblance like that." Ruby said answering Weiss' question.
Suddenly Jiraiya appeared and leaned by the screen, "Look what we have here. My little sister and her friends think they can handle a big?" he asked.
"What are you doing here Jiraiya?" Weiss asked with a glare.
"I should be asking why you four rookies want to take on a mission filled with way too many Grimm." Jiraiya said as the girls looked nervous.
Then Ozpin appeared, "I would like to know about that as well." he said adding to the tension. "Because something tells me that you will suddenly go there, no matter what job you choose." he said.
"What makes you say that?" Ruby asked nervously.
"I am still curious as to how you all found yourselves at the docks last semester. I'm interested to know how you learned about a "hideout" in the southeast. I certainly would like to know why citizens reported seeing robots and rose petals at a dance club some time ago." Ozpin said hinting that he knows everything.
Although maybe that last one is a bit inaccurate with the dance club. Nothing happened and Naruto prevented Yang from doing anything. The robot part was on the highway, so maybe this was just Ozpin's attempt to catch them.
"Ahhh…" Ruby could not come up with an answer.
"Kids will be kids Oz, they break rules all the time." Jiraiya said as Weiss gave him a scary glare.
"Then how about this? While I try to find the answer to all of these questions, we bend the rules before they break the rules." Ozpin said as he registered RWBY for that mission in the southeast.
The girls looked surprised by this action, "We won't let you down Professor Ozpin." Ruby said.
"Do not thank me, Teamwork is important and so is persistence as it has carried you this far. Yet, you must understand that the world outside of the walls will not be easy. Know that the outside threats will not care and the kingdom will not always protect you." Ozpin said as he went into lecture mode. "Stay close and listen to your assigned huntsmen. Should you stray away from the mission or should they deem you incapable of the situation's difficulty. You will be immediately brought back. Am I understood?" he asked.
"Yes Professor." the team said together.
"Good, now prepare yourselves and good luck." Ozpin said.
"And you." Jiraiya said as he poked Weiss' forehead. "Stop glaring, it makes you less pretty." he said
"Don't touch me with your dirty fingers." Weiss said as she pushed his hand away.
"I'm just looking out for you Weiss. Also as a real huntsmen to a bunch of trainees, listen up." Jiraiya said as he also turned serious. "Like Oz said, the kingdom can't always protect you and things aren't going to be like they seem. A friend of mine always said, "Look underneath the underneath" and I expect you all to do the same when things don't feel right." he explained.
"What does even mean?" Yang asked.
"I think he stole it from a fortune cookie." Weiss said.
Jiraiya sighed, "You four will figure it out." he said before leaving. 'Sensei is all about friendships and family. I just hope Oz doesn't make the same mistakes as him and Minato.' he thought as he disappeared into the crowd.
"Your brother is weird Weiss." Yang commented.
"I know, I can't understand the pervert sometimes." Weiss said.
"That's not nice, he's just like that because he cares." Ruby said.
Later, with Team JASN
Having picked their own mission, the group arrived outside as the Bullheads arrived. All waiting for the huntsmen they would be shadowing.
"Okay, outside of Vale. I'm… I'm not nervous." Josuke said as he started to look a bit anxious.
"There is nothing to fear, leader." Naruto said as Josuke sighed in relief. "Except the all the Grimm waiting for us. They're not all just Beowolfs and Ursa out there." he said.
"You just want to piss me off." Josuke said as he looked annoyed.
"You heard Professor Ozpin, just remember your training and you'll be fine." Adam said.
"Just keep your eyes open and watch your own back. We won't have any trouble if you can do that much." Squall points out.
"Hold on! Am I the only one that hasn't been outside of the kingdom before!?" Josuke asked incredulously.
"I'm not even from Vale." Squall said.
"I can't remember much, but I have seen a lot." Adam answered.
"And I've been on my own for two years before I found Ruby." Naruto adds.
Josuke's head faltered, "Seriously? I'm probably going to be the worst leader." he said.
Only to hear a jovial voice, "Nonsense! This is a chance for all of you to grow and gain experience!" someone exclaimed.
"We're shadowing him?" Squall asked with an irate look on his face.
"Hey, Professor Port… we're going to be hearing a lot of stories?" Josuke asked as Professor Port walked up to them.
"I wouldn't mind sharing an experience or two, but this week. We're making the stories." Port said as they walked towards their assigned Bullhead.
"Good for us." Naruto said dryly.
"You boys are in luck today. For a shadowing of a huntsmen was something still new in my day." Port said as he tugged on his mustache. "I remember it now. Since it was all new, there were hardly any volunteering huntsmen or staff members around to shadow. Only for me, we were stuck…"
Everyone groaned as Port started telling one of his many stories. While Port did mention that this was the opportunity to learn and possibly have their own stories to teach to others. The professor did not guarantee that he would not tell at least one story on the way to their destination.
'This is going to be a long week.' Team JASN thought as Port continued to tell his story.
"…and I swear, we had it less easy, but less complicated too. With all of you youngsters duct taping guns to every sharp weapon." Port continued to speak.
With RWBY
Just as the girls left the building to meet their assigned huntsmen. They saw Team CFVY arrive after having been gone for more than a week. Seeing this, the group decided to appraoch Velvet who was walking with her head hanging down.
"Hey Velvet, what happened? Your team was supposed to be back a week ago." Weiss asked.
"Yeah, did something happen?" Ruby asked with concern in her voice.
The rabbit faunus shook her head, "Nothing happened, I had Yatsuhashi watching my back." she said as the taller second year nodded. "Things were a bit hectic to say the least, but you first years will be fine. You have a trained huntsmen watching over you." she said.
Velvet bid them farewell as the girls wished the best for girl. Only as they felt motivated by Velvet's words. They immediately realized who their assigned huntsmen is.
"Why hello girls! Who is ready to fight for their lives!?" asked an excited looking Doctor Oobleck. "Come now children, we are officially three minutes behind my schedule!" he said as he ran up to the bullhead.
Ruby decided to cheer up her teammates, "Don't worry, we'll save the world with Professor Oobleck…"
"That sounds worse." Blake interrupted.
"Okay, it does sound bad." Ruby said.
"You're saving the world!? Without us!?" Nora yelled as Team JNPR ran up behind them.
"Hey girls, we see you're all heading outside the walls." Pyrrha said.
"What about you guys? You staying in?" Yang asked.
Pyrrha nodded, "Jaune picked out a mission for us to stay in the city." she said when Sun and Neptune suddenly appeared.
"Then we'll be seeing you guys around. Because our huntsmen made us junior detectives!" Neptune said as Jaune stared at them in awe.
"They even gave us badges!" Sun adds as Jaune feels envious. "We did think about something out of town, but… stuff always explodes." he said as everyone does believe that more trouble could happen.
"Four minutes girls!" Oobleck yells.
"We gotta go now. See you guys later." Ruby said as JNPR, Sun and Neptune nodded and left.
Above the outskirts
As the ride progressed towards southeast of Vale. Weiss and Oobleck were talking to the point that the professor started going over the strict rules set by the program. However, the real concern was not breaking the rules or the dangers of exploring an urban jungle. It was the fact that Ruby was looking stiff and gripping the safety rail on the airship.
"Ruby, are you okay?" Yang asked.
"I'm sure the sight of a fallen city and our worst failure can be rather frightening. However, we must persevere! You are all future huntresses and I expect success!" Oobleck said as the airship stopped in mid air. Where he then jumped down, "Welcome to Mountain Glenn!" he announced.
Suddenly, Blake, Weiss and Yang jumped down with their weapons out while doing cool poses. Ruby however, ended up falling onto her side and letting out a pain filled whimper. Yang and Weiss quickly helped Ruby up; thinking that she accidentally tripped while attempting to form a cool pose after the jump.
"Are you feeling well?" Weiss asked.
Ruby quietly nodded while looking at the destruction of the city and the mountain itself. Ruby suddenly felt like this mission was a terrible idea. Sure she was very adamant about stopping Roman by trying to locate his hideout in the southeast, but thinking about it now. Ruby didn't even consider where in the southeast she should look. Her regret suddenly filled her mind as well as anxiety and other feelings.
"Ruby what's wrong?" Yang asked as Ruby looked terrified for some reason.
Even worse, a stray Grimm was moving about a hundred years away from them, "Miss Rose, you have to come to your senses. I know the fall is nasty, but creatures of Grimm are attracted to negative emotions. Anger, envy and fear! Fear is going to grab it's attention!" Oobleck said as Ruby tried to taking deep breaths.
"It's just one Grimm, we can take it out right?" Weiss asked as she got Myrtenaster ready.
"No, we could use this chance to follow it back to it's pack. Then that pack can lead us to it's pray." Oobleck said as Ruby was calming down.
"How long will that take?" Yang asked.
Oobleck tapped his chin, "Hours, days, weeks, some can wander away from the pack for over a month at times." he said. "Then again, we could find them right now because they are already here." he said in his rapid voice.
"Looks like tracking is out of the question." Yang said.
"Yes and now they have seen us." Oobleck said.
"What?" Weiss asked, looking shocked by the revelation.
"AND NOW THEY HAVE SEEN US!" Oobleck shouted into her ear.
"Then what's the plan?" Yang asked.
"Show me what you're capable of." Oobleck said, basically telling them to fight.
Seeing that there was no other choice, Yang lead the way by running up to the first Grimm. Where she avoided a claw and punched the Beowolf in the face with some help from Amber Celica.
Blake let the next Grimm slash at her only to reveal it was one of her shadows. With the real Blake using the chance to slice her Beowulf in half in a vertical strike.
Then there was Weiss who parried several attacks before leading a small group to away. Before using her the opening her foes created to repeatedly slash at them before finally moving across from where she once stood. Leaving several dead Grimm behind in her wake.
"Miss Rose, now would be a perfect time to present your skills." Oobleck said as Ruby put on her mask to hide her emotions.
"Yes Prof-, I mean Doctor Oobleck." Ruby said as she pulled out a small javelin.
"Good, someone remembered my title. However, where did you pull that out from?" Oobleck asked before Ruby tossed the javelin.
The javelin immediately embedded itself into a Beowulf's head. Causing it to crash into the ground and tripping over it's pack mates in the process. Leaving Ruby with the chance to pull out a hatchet and started hacking off the heads of the first Grimm that recovered. Then tossing the same hatchet into the head of another Grimm then throwing several large knives into the body another Grimm that tried to circle around her. Ending with Ruby pulling out her hatchet and decapitating the final Grimm.
Oobleck nodded as he jotted down some notes. Meanwhile, Weiss raised a brow at Ruby's fighting style. While Ruby acted like a jack of all trades minus skills in ranged weapons. She could see that her friend was a bit more stiff in her fighting and looked more desperate during her fight.
"Hey Ruby, are you feeling well? That was a nasty fall." Weiss asked.
Ruby nodded, "It's just some bad whiplash Weiss." she lied.
"Okay, do you want an ice pack or something?" Weiss asked.
"Nope, I'm good." Ruby said as her muffled voice hid her anxiety.
"Let us get a move on. This is one battle of many." Oobleck said as he had to remind them of the reason why this location is not meant for first years.
With Naruto
Naruto yawned as Port finished telling his third story, "Wow, it's a real eye opener." he commented.
Port nodded, "And that is why I rekindle with my stories. While they seem fun, I feel that it's best to remind everyone of the importance of packing the essentials." he said.
"Well it sucks now! Now I'm sensitive about double packing clean underwear." Josuke said.
"The underwear isn't always essential in the battlefield, but in every other time. You are doomed without it." Port said as he gave wide eyes to his students.
Adam sighed, "I wonder how Ruby is doing. Who do you think she got stuck with?" he asked Naruto.
Port let out a laugh, "Bartholomew should be in charge of Team RWBY. I almost forgot how close you all are with them. I haven't seen such closeness in between teams in ages." he said.
Naruto rolled his eyes, 'My poor sister, she has to deal with the other caffeine addict.' he thought.
"Still, I wonder what old Bart will be teaching them so far out of the kingdom." Port said.
"How bad could it be? Aren't we supposed to handle the scary parts of the world?" Josuke asked.
Port shook his head, "It's not just about handling the fear Mr. Higashikata. There's also the need for adaption, instinct, and of course learning by experience. The real concern should be how to handle the situation regardless of whether or not you feel fear." he explained.
"People are naturally reckless. Pride can make anyone stupid." Squall points out as Naruto grabs his bottle of water.
"Exactly! Though, I'm sure Bart can keep the girls from doing anything too reckless in Mountain Glenn." Port said as Naruto went wide eyed.
The Belmont suddenly started to cough as he choked on his drink. Naruto found it hard to breath with all of the coughing to the point Squall started slapping his back to release any water that was clogged up.
"I guess we can add clean water to stuff we need to double pack." Josuke commented.
"Where is my sister going!?" Naruto asked.
"Mountain Glenn, I understand it's concerning. Given how many Grimm explore the area, but Bart should be able to the team from doing anything too reckless." Port said with confidence.
"My worry isn't about the Grimm or being able to handle it." Naruto said as he was feeling worried about Ruby's mental condition.
Back with RWBY, some time later
After dealing with many more packs of stray Grimm while Doctor Oobleck was researching the area and it's plants. Oobleck decided to confront each girl about their motivations to become huntresses. The whole time, Oobleck stayed neutral and serious as to not show approval or disappointment. At the same time, he was fairly specific when he asked his question as he wanted to understand the team. Not understand what they wanted.
Yang answered that she is a thrill seeker and wanted to travel. Along with something else, but she kept that piece of information to herself.
Weiss stated that as a Schnee, she had a legacy to uphold and fighting is more than just sitting behind a desk.
Blake said that there is a lot of injustice in the world and someone like her needs to be there to combat them.
While Oobleck did feel satisfied with the answers. The girls suddenly felt shallow with what they said. Mainly, Yang felt like she was just some adrenaline junkie, Weiss felt like she is still a prideful bigot, and Blake felt like she was just blindly choosing fights as a way to save the world. Meanwhile, Oobleck could see some internal struggle within Ruby, but that didn't really make him want to question the girl about her motivations.
"You three, set up a camp over there in that building. Ruby, you will follow me." Oobleck said as he rapidly left.
Ruby nodded as she followed the teacher while WBY did as they were told. At the same time, they took this rest as a chance to reflect on themselves. Either to deny or accept who they are and whether they need to change. As the leader and teacher left, the two came across the sight of several Goliaths far from the city.
"Amazing isn't it?" Oobleck asked.
"In a way I guess, are they scouting the area or just traveling?" Ruby asked.
Oobleck let out a small laugh, "Quite the observation, they are indeed scouting. You see Ruby, not all Grimm are mindless." He told her.
"They become more smart." Ruby said.
"Exactly, while these Goliaths are not capable of reaching the level of an adult in a few years. In a matter of a few centuries, they have learned to study, be patient and prepare themselves." Oobleck added.
"To attack?" Ruby asked nervously.
"Specifically, to find a good opening, but yes. To strike when we are at our most vulnerable." Oobleck said sounding impressed. "I'm assuming you have been more studious lately?"he asked.
"My big brother said that not every Grimm is young enough to just run head first in every fight." Ruby answered while scratching the back of her head.
"I suppose young Naruto has a blunt way or explaining things." Oobleck replied.
"Doctor Oobleck, what made you want to be a huntsmen?" Ruby curiously asked.
Oobleck tapped his chin, "I suppose like any other person, I wanted to help people. Sure, I can do that by taking up arms and cutting down many Grimm. However, the best way to help someone is by using the most powerful a huntsmen can obtain." he said.
"Like my uncle's scythe? It can turn into a sniper!" Ruby asked, suddenly feeling excited.
"No, well… I suppose it depends on a huntsmen's fighting style, but a scythe gun is not the most powerful weapon. The most powerful weapon is knowledge." Oobleck answered. "You see Ruby, as an instructor I can help shape the future huntsmen on Remnant. Doing so, I can pass on my knowledge who then pass it onto others. Therefore saving the lives of many by being prepared and understanding the troubles to come." He explained.
"I guess that made more sense." Ruby said.
Back at the camp
Oobleck ran inside looking impressed, "That is a textbook perfect campfire ladies. I congratulate you and suggest you all rest for the night." he said before setting up his bed.
Yang then saw Ruby walk in, "Hey Ruby, what he say to you when he asked you about why you wanted to become a huntress?" Yang asked.
Ruby shrugged, "He didn't ask me, weird." She said.
This left WBY feeling confused. Maybe Ruby already knew why she wanted to be a huntress and wasn't ashamed of it.
"I swear, I'm going to call her the Unpredictable Huntress." Blake said.
"She's still a dolt in her own little way." Weiss said.
By now, the word dolt is more of a pet name or a sign of affection rather than an insult. Unless it was directed at Jaune who is still learning what personal space is.
Later that night
With everyone sleeping Ruby found herself tossing and turning in her makeshift bed. All the while cold sweat poured down her face. When suddenly, her eyes snapped open and Ruby sat up. Her breathing ragged, her vision very blurry and her balance being out of place. Ruby shivered as if it were suddenly cold and she didn't want to stay in the same spot for too long. Before long, the hooded girl grabbed her mask and walked out of the building without trying to alert anyone.
Seemingly unaware that Yang had heard her. Yang's eyes turned blue as she swears she heard Ruby crying and whimpering as she slept. Not wanting to feel useless, Yang quickly chased after Ruby. Only it became more difficult as Ruby used her semblance to move to a far place very quickly.
When she did, Yang found Ruby holding herself very tightly. It was hard to tell what was going on in her little sister's head. Almost as if Ruby was suddenly scared or anxious or something. Yang decided to approach Ruby and try to help her.
"Ruby!" Yang called out.
"Yang?" Ruby turned around to find Yang approaching her.
"Ruby, are you okay? Did you have a nightmare?" Yang asked as she tried to reach out for her.
Ruby back away from her, "No, I just don't feel well." She said as she avoided Yang.
"Then what's wrong?" Yang asked.
"Nothing Yang, just forget it." Ruby said as she walked away.
"Ruby hold on! You can't just avoid me! I want to help you!" Yang exclaimed as she grabbed Ruby's arm.
Ruby tried pulling away, "I don't need your help Yang. I'm fine on my own." she said. "I just feel off is all." she said.
Yang didn't believe her, "Ruby, I'm not the only one noticing how wrong you are. You haven't been this clumsy before and even Weiss noticed how stiff your movements are." she said.
"I'm just sick, I need some air is all." Ruby replied.
"Cut the crap Ruby, I know something is wrong. I know I'm not the best at reading situations, but I think I know when you're bottling everything up. So please, let me help you." Yang pleads.
Ruby looks away from Yang, "You can't help me." she said as she pulled away.
"I'm not letting you go Ruby. I can't call myself your sister if I leave you alone again. I already learned how bad of a choice I made when I when i abandoned Summer to look for…"
"Summer!?" Ruby asked angrily. "Summer!? Really Yang!? After all we've been through you don't even consider the woman who took you in and raised us together to be your own mother anymore!?" she asked angrily.
Yang recoiled in fear and surprise. She couldn't see it, but Ruby was furious. Yang has seen Ruby angry before, but right now she was likely giving her a murderous look. Unbeknownst to her, Ruby was causing the ground to freeze up.
"Ruby, I didn't mean it like that. My mind slipped up…"
"How do you slip up with something that big!?" Ruby asked angrily. Ruby let out a loud growl, "No, I am done with you! I could forgive the poisonous cookies…"
"Actually it was salt." Yang interrupted.
"Shut up!" Ruby screams as the ice gets thicker. Yang winced as Ruby got in her face, "I actually thought you were trying to be a good person, but I guess I was wrong. I'm probably just triggering your empty conscious or something." she said bitterly.
"Ruby that's not true! I love you!" Yang yelled as she tried to reach out to Ruby again.
Ruby grits her teeth, "Well I…"
*CRACK*
Ruby suddenly realized that the ice covered ground was cracking. When all of a sudden the entire ground began to shatter. At the last moment, Ruby shoved Yang away from her. All Yang could register was flying away from the destruction as Ruby fell. As Yang tried to scream, she saw Ruby's mask fall off and for a brief moment. Yang could see her tear stained face.
"RUBY!" Yang screamed loud enough for her teammates to hear as Ruby fell down the gaping hole.
Yang ran towards the edge of the hole where she stuck her arm out. Acting as if she could pull Ruby out of the pit. The darkness within the pit already told the cold hard truth as Yang could not see Ruby's body anywhere.
"Yang! What happened?" Blake asked as she arrived with Weiss and Oobleck.
Only to see Yang's tear stained face, "Ruby…" she said as she pointed at the hole.
Some time later with Naruto
Squall sighed as he looked at his partner, "I thought I was the uptight one." he said.
"I'm just worried Squall." Naruto said.
"Well it's getting annoying. Your sister knew what she signed up for and she has a huntsmen with her. She can handle being without you for a week." Squall said.
Naruto sighed, "It's complicated Squall. It's not just about being alone." he said.
"Whatever." Squall said as he stopped caring.
"Just call her on your scroll when we get the time." Adam said as he passed by.
"I'm afraid that won't work." Port suddenly said. "Knowing how far they are. There is no signal seeing as how the city is in ruins and disconnected from the internet and cellular signals." he said sounding serious.
Adam grimaced but put on a brave face, "Hey, don't worry. Ruby's not a kid anymore. Squall's right." he said.
Naruto couldn't help but feel concerned, "I hope you're right." he said.
However, before anyone else could say anything. A bullhead suddenly appeared and Port was approached by the pilot. Port let out a sigh of his own as he tugged on his mustache.
"Gentlemen, grab your weapons and get onboard. There's a security issue and Professor Ozpin needs all of us back immediately." Port said.
Team JASN did as they were told and got onboard. The trip would be long, but by the time they reached Vale's city limits. The team and professor were surprised by a giant surge of golden lightning at the center of town. The giant amount of energy was so big and powerful, that the airhsip itself started to lose control and ended up swerving a few times before gaining control.
"What was that? Some sort of lightning storm?" Josuke asked.
"The sky is too clear for that." Adam pointed out.
"Then what? Some kind of electrical disaster?" Josuke asked as he looked fairly nervous.
"Whatever it is, it's not natural." Squall said as he narrowed his eyes.
Naruto's eyes opened in horror as he saw a lot of steam coming out from the explosion that followed the golden energy. It was real steam, not smoke or anything like that. He could tell as those clouds that were building up were likely too thick to be smoke. The real concern that would shake Vale and it's citizens to it's core would not be random explosions or natural disasters. The real issue is what's hiding underneath that explosion.
"Everyone hang on, local officials are claiming that a terrorist attack is going on." the pilot announced.
"This is the worst of times for an attack of this scale to happen." Port said feeling unnerved.
"Terrorist attack!?" Josuke asked.
"What the hell?" Squall asked.
Naruto gripped the airship's handle to the point that it almost broke off, 'Ruby, what are you dong?' he thought.
From within the smoke, a giant shadow loomed over the all of Vale.
TO BE CONTINUED…
JASN Chibi!
Josuke was freaking out, "What the hell man!? Are terrorists attacking us!?" he asked.
"Stop running around! We're going to fall!" Squall yelled.
Naruto suddenly ran into the pilot's seat, "Give me that!" he yelled before tossing the pilot aside.
"What are you doing now!?" Squall asked, sounding irritated.
"I'm getting us to Vale more quickly! Something super important is happening!" Naruto shouts.
"What is so important?" Port asked.
"I can't tell you now! This will spoil the next chapter!" Naruto answered as he activated the boosters.
Causing everyone to fly to the back of the Bullhead. Followed by the pressure causing everyone to go as flat as a pancake by how fast everyone was moving.
"Then what can you tell us!?" Adam asked fearfully.
"The World of Remnant Secret!" Naruto answers.
Suddenly Chibi R0tatcid appeared, "Actually, I will tell them. You need to fly us there without killing us." he said as Naruto nodded.
Secret: Doctor Bartholomew Oobleck is an eccentric man, but a genius. However, by no standards is he a normal man. In fact, his name is actually Demiurge. He's a demon from another world that works for a skeleton named Ainz Ooal Gown and arrived on Remnant to study the world and it's inhabitants to benefit his leader. Next Time! Chapter 10: Parasite!
*CRASH*
"Really!?" Chibi R0tatcid asked angrily.
"Sorry." Naruto said.
Now the entire airship was stuck inside of a random building due to Naruto's nonexistent piloting skills.
END OF JASN CHIBI
