Rise Above (Origins, Part 2)

The scene opens in the studio of TVi studio where a reporter named Nadja Chamack is updating Paris on the stone creatures in the city. A small screens shows one of Stoneheart's minions.

Nadja: The stone beings are scattered all over Paris, and for the time being, they are showing no signs of movement. (a variety of pictures of Stoneheart's minions is shown) Police have cordoned off the area.

It now shows Mayor André Bourgeois with Officer Roger at his right

André: We won't stop until we find a way to get these people back to their normal selves, but for now, we're not making much headway.

The camera then pans back to Nadja with an image of the three heroes. Ladybug is on the left, Cat Noir is on the right, and Spider-Man is in the middle.

Nadja: Paris is relying on our new guardian angels, Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Spider-Man to save us all. Our lives depend on them.

It shows that Marinette and Marlin are watching the news in the kitchen. Their father notices this and walks up to them

Tom: Listen, I know how upsetting and scary this is, but don't worry, you two; we've got three superheroes looking out for Paris, and the best way of helping them is to show them that we're not scared, because we trust them.

Marlin smiles at this

Marinette: But what if Ladybug fails?

Marlin looks at his sister in worry

Tom: Then I'd come and save you. Super Baker to the rescue!

Marlin: And don't forget Super bro!

Marinette: (giggles) Thanks, Super Dad! (she kisses her dad on the cheek) And thank you, super bro. (She kisses Marlin on both his cheeks)

Marlin: (blushes) Oh, sis

Marinette then heads to her room while Marlin heads to his own room. Inside Marlin's room, Marlin was getting his stuff ready for school. Arachnus then appears

Arachnus: Is there something on you mind, Marlin?

Marlin: (sighs) It's Marinette

Arachnus: Your sister?

Marlin: Yeah. I just saw her with a sad look on her face. I hope she's okay.

Arachnus: Well, why don't you talk to her about it.

Marlin: Sure. But what if she doesn't want to talk about it?

Arachnus: Then give her some time. Wait until she's ready.

Marlin nods his head

The Dupain-Cheng twins then heads off to school. Marlin notices his sister with a depressed look. Taking Arachnus' advice, Marlin walks up to his sister.

Marlin: Hey sis. Is something wrong?

Marinette: Huh? Oh, it's nothing, bro.

Marlin: Are you sure? It doesn't sound like nothing

Marinette: Really, Marlin. I'm fine!

Marlin: Okay

Marinette looks at her brother

Marinette: Hey, Marlin? Can I ask you something?

Marlin: Sure

Marinette: What do you think of Ladybug?

Marlin: What do I think of her? I think she's a great hero. Not only is she pretty, but she's also clever with the use of her yo-yo and lucky charm. She's the best.

Marinette blushes at what Marlin said, but she shakes it off

Marinette: But you saw what happened on the news. She failed to capture the akuma. Now it has infected some of the citizens. Maybe she's just not cut out to be a hero

Marlin: Hey it was just one mistake. Don't everyone make mistakes?

Marinette: Um yes?

They then crossed the street

Marlin: Listen, Marinette. Ladybug may have failed to captured the akuma, but I'm sure she'll learn from it. There's always a chance for her to make things right.

Marinette: I'm still not so sure.

Marlin frowns but then says something else

Marlin: You know a wise person once told me 'With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility'.

Marinette: What does that mean?

Marlin: It means that a person must not take their power or privilege lightly. They also have to use it responsibly depending on what they choose to do. It was Ladybug's responsibility to capture the akuma. Although she failed, Ladybug can still do the right thing.

Marinette: How do you know?

Marlin: Let's just say I have a lot to think about. My point is that one failure should not get a person down. They should also learn from it and try to see what they can do to improve. And I'm sure Ladybug will do the same.

Marinette smiles

Marinette: You're right, bro. Thanks for the advice. (begins to pat Marlin's head) You always know how to help a sister out!

Marlin laughs nervously

Marinette: Now let's get to school

Marlin: Can we stop by at a candy store first? I need to get some chocolate

Marinette: What for?

Marlin: Um, I need to get some for someone I know

Marinette: (confused) Okay

Marlin: Thanks

After stopping by at a candy store, the Dupain-Cheng siblings made their way to school where they met up with Alya. She was showing them a certain blog.

Alya: Ladyblog, bringing you all the latest news about the coolest superhero, Ladybug! How awesome is that?! Check out the number of views since I posted the video!

Marlin: That's very cool, Alya! Did you get any footage of Spider-Man?

Alya: (laughs) I sure did. Especially the part where he distracted Stoneheart. He was so funny

Marinette: But why do you trust Ladybug so much? All these stone beings…

Alya: (confidently) She's gonna handle 'em.

Marinette: But what if she's not really cut out to be a superhero even though everyone thinks she is?

Alya: What are you talking about, girl? Oh, wait. I know what this is about. (Marinette widens her eyes while Marlin looks surprised) You're scared, but don't be! I've seen her with my own two eyes, girl! Ladybug is a true superheroine! She's going to protect us all! I believe in her.

Marlin: You sure do, Alya. You sure do

Alya smiles and walks off. Marinette smiles as she also remembered what Marlin told her earlier. She then looks down at her purse as she follows after Alya. Marlin also smiles as he follows after them. As they walked to the courtyard, they see some students gathered around Ivan. One of them is a girl named Alix, another girl named Rose, Juleka, Max, Nino, and Kim. Another girl with strands of her hair dyed in different colors was watching away from the crowd. Her name was Mylène.

Alix: So you really don't remember anything?

Juleka: You were totally going ballistic. It was so cool!

Kim: You were seriously out to crush me, dude!

Ivan: Oh, I'm sorry… I wasn't myself…

Marlin walks up to the crowd

Marlin: Hey there!

The crowd looks at him and smile at him. Juleka blushes when she sees Marlin.

Max: Greetings, Marlin

Juleka: (nervously) H-Hi, Marlin

Marlin: I'm sorry if I interrupted, but I can't help but overhear your conversation.

Alix: Oh no, you didn't. In fact you can join if you want

Marlin: Thanks. (to Ivan) You're name is Ivan, right?

Ivan: Yes. How did you know?

Marlin: I heard it from my sister. Anyway, is it true about what they were saying? That you don't remember anything after being akumatized?

Ivan: Yeah. The last thing I remembered was going straight to Mr. Damocles' office. And then I don't remember much afterwards.

Just then, Chloé and Sabrina comes up to them

Chloé: Pff! (scoffs at Ivan) Once a monster, always a monster.

Marlin: (thinking) Oh great. Not her

Ivan gets angry and marches off causing the crowd to gasp. Chloé still mocks him

Chloé: Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Marlin angrily glares at the Chloé. Marinette and Alya also glares at her

Meanwhile, in Hawk Moth's lair...

Hawk Moth: Yes… feel the burn of those words. Lose your temper, Ivan! Your akuma awaits you.

He opens his cane to let the akuma out. It flies out of the circular window that has just opened up.

Back at the high school, Alya angrily confronts Chloé

Alya: How could you say that to Ivan? You're the real Stoneheart.

Chloé: Ugh, so I'm the one who broke Sabrina's dad's arm, am I? Just because your footage of those lame superheroes was shown on TV, doesn't mean you have to get so high and mighty. (blows a bubble gum at her)

Alya: You little…

Chloé: Look out, she's angry! She's going to split her underwear and turn into a huge muscly monster!

Alya huffs and walks off. This cause Marlin to snap

Marlin: (to Chloé) What is wrong with you!? Do you delight in making people's lives miserable?!

Chloé: I don't see what you're complaining about. I'm just showing all you losers that I am better than you

Marlin: Really?! You think you're so superior?! You really think that just because you're the mayor's daughter, you can just treat us like garbage!? Well I won't stand for it! You, Chloé Bourgeois, are nothing but a spoiled, selfish, snobby, and heartless brat!

Everyone gasp, especially Sabrina

Nino: Whoa. Sick burn

Chloé: (growls) How dare you talk like that to me!

Marlin: Oh, I dare. Because it's true! And as long as I breathe, I'm won't let you bully anyone here.

Chloé: I like to see you try! I always get I what I want!

The two both glare at each other as sparks were flying. Just then, a teenage boy with blonde hair and green eyes appeared. He was wearing a white jacket, black shirt, blue jeans, orange sneakers, and a handbag. This was Adrien Agreste.

Adrien: Hey, Chloé!

Seeing him made Chloé very excited

Chloé: Adrikins! You came!

She rushes over to Adrien and gives him a big hug! Soon other students begin to come up to him

Marlin: (thinking) So that's Adrien in the flesh. Hmm. He looks a little taller compared to the pictures I've seen him in.

The Dupain-Cheng twins are seen walking into the locker room

Marlin: Remind me again why we're going into the locker room?

Marinette: Because bro, we need to help out Ivan.

Marlin: And how do you know he would be here?

Marinette: Um. Just call it a hunch

The siblings then noticed Ivan sitting on the ground with headphones. They approach Ivan and kneel on each side. Ivan notices them and takes off his headphone

Marlin: Uh, hello again, Ivan

Ivan: Hey

Marinette: You know, you should tell Mylène how you feel.

Ivan: I… don't know what you're talking about.

Marinette: Come on, I saw the way you look at her. (Ivan sighs and looks down) No! No negative emotions, Ivan.

Ivan looks at her skeptically

Marlin: She's right Ivan. You need to look on the bright side. Be positive.

Marinette: Besides, I'm sure Mylène has feelings for you too. Go talk to her.

Ivan: (scoffs) I'm no good with words anyway.

Marlin: You don't need words to express how you feel. There are other ways like drawing her a picture and maybe writing a poem. Or maybe a song.

Ivan smiles as he heard that

Ivan: Yeah. Write her a song

Marinette: That's a good idea, Marlin! What girl wouldn't want a love song written especially for her? Go for it, Ivan, and, uh–, stay positive.

Ivan nods and runs off happily. The twins watch as he leaves the locker room

Marlin: Do you think our advice will work?

Marinette: I'm sure, bro. As long as he stays positive. Come on, let's get to class

The siblings then walk out of the locker room

Marinette: By the way, Marlin. Do you have any feelings for someone?

Marlin: Um, nope

Marinette: (teasingly) Well, what about that girl, Juleka. Remember when we were young? You would blush whenever we hang out with her.

Marlin: (blushes) I don't have a crush on her! Okay, maybe I do. But I'm not sure if she feels the same way

Marinette: Don't worry, bro. I'm sure she will. You just need to wait for the right time. I'm sure you will get your chance

Marlin: (smiles) I guess you're right. Thanks, sis.

Marinette: No problem
