DISCLAIMER: I do not own Harry Potter

After finishing their last class of the day, John and Isaac spent the rest of the day just wandering the castle, trying to familiarise themselves with the place so they wouldn't get lost.

"Enjoy classes, boys?"

The boys looked to see Octavia.

"Oh, hey Octavia, yeah, classes have been good, except History of Magic, that is the most boring class ever." said John

"I kinda enjoyed it." said Isaac

"Really? I agree with John." said Octavia

"So Octavia, what's it like in Ravenclaw?"

"Quite nice, the common room is pretty quiet with plenty of books to read, although, it is a bit difficult sometimes to get in."

"How's that?" asked John

"To get in, you need to answer a riddle, if you don't know the answer, you don't get in."

"Sounds annoying." said Isaac

The trio kept talking until they heard a scream coming from the courtyard.

"HELP!"

The trio ran to the source of the scream, at the courtyard, they could see Mathias Holly floating upside down.

"LET ME DOWN!"

The sound of laughter caught John's attention, he saw Celestia Nightshade pointing her wand at Mathias, laughing as she dangled him from his ankle. John took out his wand and cast it at Mathias.

"Liberacorpus!"

Mathias was lowered down, when he was back on his feet, he thanked John and ran off.

"Hey, what's the big idea, you're ruining my fun." said Celestia

"Fun? You find bullying someone to be fun? That's just pathetic." said John

The trio went to leave as Celestia only grew frustrated.

"Pathetic?"

Celestia prepared to cast her wand in anger, but a strange feeling came over John, like he knew what she was planning. Isaac was about to warn John, but John had already quickly drew his wand and cast the first spell.

"Alarte Ascendare!"

A flash of red light and Celestia was launched into the air before plummeting back down.

"HEY!"

John looked to see the approaching form of Professor Ironbark.

"I know you are only in your first year, but I would expect you to know that it is unacceptable to cast spells outside of class, especially for offensive uses."

"But Professor…"

"I don't want to hear any excuses, 25 points from Gryffindor and I expect to see you in the library during free period tomorrow for detention."

Professor Ironbark walked off, leaving John and his friends speechless.

"John, how did you know that Celestia was about to cast a spell on you behind your back?" asked Octavia

"Um, I don't know, it was like, some sort of instinct, it was weird."

The next day, John arrived at the library during free period. Professor Ironbark was waiting with Madame Pince.

"Mr. Hawthorne, glad you could finally join us."

"Professor Ironbark, this isn't fair, Celestia was about to cast a spell on me, I was only defending myself."

"Your friend, Mr. Gulls, told me the same thing, however, regardless if it is true or not, you still cast the first spell and Miss Nightshade twisted her ankle, so you're still in the wrong."

John would have argued but he knew Ironbark did have a point.

"So, Madame Pince will supervise your detention, I will be back at the end of free period."

Professor Ironbark left, leaving John with the elderly librarian.

"This way."

John followed Madame Pince to a section of the library with a pile of books and empty shelves.

"Apparently a couple of troublemakers thought it would be funny to charm the books to fly around the library, for your detention, you will be stacking the books back in their shelves, with no magic."

"Alright then."

"The books were arranged alphabetically, and I better not hear any noise."

Madame Pince went to sit at her desk while John got to work. It was boring and monotonous. After about 20 minutes, John was carrying a stack of books up a ladder when he dropped one of the books. He reached down to pick it up when he thought he saw something under one of the bookshelves, he reached for it and saw it was a book, but not a library book, it seemed more like a notebook. In the front cover, the words 'Journal of Rudas' were scratched in. John looked inside, most of the stuff written inside was just class notes, some stuff written in some sort of code, but their was something that caught John's eye, a series of notes on a page titled 'The Chest of Dreams!'
