If you're wondering why this has been uploaded a day after chapter 5 it's because I wanted to upload them early due to Sonic Frontiers coming out next Tuesday, I probably would've forgotten about it ^^;

Anyways I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 6

Maddie ran upstairs back into Sonic's room and shook him awake. As much as she would've wanted to let him sleep she knew that finding his friend was important to him and this was urgent. Sonic awoke in a daze and looked sleepily at Maddie. He yawned and stretched his arms as he spoke, "mornin Maddie, what's the rush?" Maddie sat on Sonic's bed next to him and gave him a serious look, "Tom thinks he might've found your friend but she refuses to let him help her. She disappeared before he could catch her."

Sonic went wide eyed. They found her, she's here. Now they just have to catch her. Sonic leaped out of bed and quickly put on his socks and shoes. "I'm gonna go wake the others and we'll go out searching again." Maddie said as she went down the attic stairs. Sonic hurried around the room, grabbing whatever he thought he'd need, a flashlight, his phone, some blankets, and a bag of chips. He slumped the bag over his shoulder and raced downstairs.

He told Maddie that he'd go ahead to get a head start and went off. He was running all through the forest, stopping at any possible trace of the color pink. He looked and looked all over the place. He found some things along the way though, half eaten fruits and at one point a her used bandage wraps. She was somewhere around here.

He had stopped at one point to rest and eat some snacks, calling the others to see if they'd seen anything. They said they found nothing and he hung up the call. Just as he placed the phone back into his bag, he heard something. It was the distant sound of crunching fall leaves. Someone was here. He slowly followed the sound, not wanting to cause alarm.

There she was, his long lost friend. She was limping through the leaves, setting off bear traps with sticks so they didn't hurt anyone. Sonic gasped when he saw her. She was startled by the sudden noise and lost her balance. Before she could hurt her opposite foot and get caught in another trap Sonic rushed over to her and grabbed her into his arms.

Amy looked up at her savior and as she saw his face, tears began to well up in her eyes. She hugged his neck as tightly as she could in her weakened state and began to sob, having missed him so very much all these years. She'd finally found him, he was okay!

Sonic held her close to him, letting her cry. He wasn't sure what to say yet but was relieved that she was here. Amy started to calm down and pulled away from him slightly so she could get a good look at him. He grew up to be a hero, a handsome hero too. His blue quills were even brighter than she remembered.

Sonic looked over Amy as she was looking over him. She wasn't in the best shape, her quills were all matted and dirty, it looked like some had fallen out, and she was very thin and weak from what he assumed was due to lack of proper nutrition. Her leg was mangled up pretty bad too, it had a dirty bandage wrapped around it. There was nothing in the bandage to keep the leg straight so it just fell limp, looking like it was broken pretty bad.

Sonic would've liked to stay in this embrace with Amy forever but she was hurt and in poor condition, she needed help. Before he could run off though, Amy put a hand on his cheek and turned his head to face her. She had a weak smile on her face as she spoke, "thank you...for finding me..." She soon fell asleep, resting her head on his shoulder. Sonic nuzzled it with his own.

Sonic sat down on a tree stump with Amy still in his arms and texted the others that he'd found her. He told them where he was and Tom drove over to the outer part of the forest. Sonic ran to the truck and immediately hopped into the backseat. Tails and Knuckles were in the bed of the truck while Maddie was in the passenger seat.

On the drive home Maddie tried to ask questions but Sonic dismissed them and told her that Amy was still sleeping and he didn't wanna wake her. She'd gotten a brief look at the girl in Sonic's arms and she looked sickly. She needed treatment quick. She signaled to Tom the urgency of the situation and he went as fast as he could in the speed limit.

They arrived back home and Maddie instructed Sonic to bring her to the kitchen. Maddie took the girl from his arms and placed her on the table. Sonic helped as much as he could, grabbing the medical bag and holding Amy's leg in place. The best they could do at the moment was fix up her leg and put it in an actual cast. Maddie determined that she'd broken it right above the ankle.

When Maddie was done, she gave her back to Sonic and he brought her to the couch. He sat with her the whole rest of the day, he only got up a few times to use the restroom. He held her hand as he waited for her to wake up. As Sonic's mind began to get frantic in worry, she groaned and slowly opened her eyes and looked over at him. "It wasn't a dream" she thought.

Sonic blinked out of his worried state and saw that she was awake. He wanted to tackle hug her but opted to just continue to hold her hand. He rubbed his thumb across her knuckles as he spoke, "how do you feel?" She tried to sit up slowly, Sonic helping her when he noticed her struggle. "I'm still really sore, but at least now I feel safe." she said as she rested her head on Sonic's shoulder.

He wrapped his arm around her and held her gently. He remembered his promise to her all those years ago, remembered how he broke it. "I'm sorry for breaking my promise, I won't let anything bad happen to you anymore. I'll protect you no matter what." Amy placed a hand on his chest and looked up at him, "it wasn't your fault, things just happen sometimes and they're out of our control. Longclaw saved you because she knew that if she went back to get me there was a chance none of us would've made it."

Sonic didn't say anything and just placed his head on top of hers. It was midnight and everyone else was asleep. The house was quiet and still and peaceful.

Amy shifted in Sonic's arms slightly before wincing in pain as her stomach growled. Sonic knew this was a sign that she was hungry so he got up and set off to get her something. She needed nutrients so he decided to grab an Apple and made her a peanut butter sandwich. He got a glass of water for her as well and returned back to the couch where Amy sat looking around the room.

He placed the plate of food and the glass of water on the coffee table and gestured for her to eat. She recognized the food as something Vanilla would make for her at home and felt a little nostalgic as she picked up the plate and ate.

After she'd gotten done with her food, Sonic took the plate to the sink and placed it down. He walked back to Amy and sat down on the couch next to her. She looked like she was scratching herself and as she noticed Sonic sit down next to her she stopped with an embarrassed look on her face. "Do you have a shower I could use? I hate getting your family's furniture dirty." she asked while holding her arms.

"Yeah but you can't get your cast wet." Sonic said while pointing to her foot. Amy hadn't actually noticed it before which is odd considering its bright red color. "Do you have something I could put over it? A plastic bag maybe?" Sonic went to a different room in the house and reappeared with a few plastic grocery store bags. He gave them to Amy and she tied them around her cast, completely concealing it.

Sonic helped her to the bathroom and stood outside the door in case she needed help. About 30 minutes later she spoke through the door, "do you have any extra clothes I could wear? These ones are filthy and tattered." Sonic didn't have many articles of clothing considering he didn't wear clothes but he was still able to find a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. He stuck his hand through the door and handed them to her without looking. A little time later she stepped out.

The clothes were kinda big on her due to her very small frame but her fur was so bright and beautiful! Sonic couldn't tell before because of all the dirt that riddled her coat before but she was such a bright shade of pink. She looked happier as well, he guessed being covered in dirt was irritating her.

Amy yawned and looked tired. It'd probably be a while before she was back to full health and her energy would probably be pretty sparse until then.

Sonic scooped her up into his arms bridal style and brought her upstairs to where his room was. He placed her in his racecar bed and tucked her in. He sat next to her on the bed and stayed there until she fell asleep. When she dozed off he planted a kiss on her forehead and bid her goodnight.

He slept on the couch instead of his own bed so she'd have a more comfortable rest.

The next morning everyone was up and at the dining table for breakfast except Sonic. Instead he decided to eat his breakfast in his room with Amy. He stayed by her side as much as he could. He had spoken to her a little before breakfast and found out about her fear of humans. She'd been grateful of how much his family had helped her but still was afraid of seeing them. He noted that they'd have to work on that but made sure to let Tom and Maddie know so they don't frighten her.

After eating breakfast, Sonic walked Amy downstairs and showed her some things on earth. They'd have to start with things inside the house since it was beginning to get frigid and cold outside so Sonic introduced her to video games. At first she was confused by them but as they played more and more she began to get the hang of it, even beating Tails and Knuckles in a few games and getting very close to beating Sonic.

Maddie had returned home from work later that evening and called Sonic to her. She'd bought a few things for Amy and wanted him to give them to her. There were two day outfits and two sets of pajamas. It was a good start and definitely better than her wearing baggy clothes.

Sonic brought the clothes to her and immediately her face lit up. She was very thankful for his family's help and as much as she was afraid, she wanted to thank Maddie herself. Sonic helped her and she expressed her gratitude. Maddie wanted to give her a hug but dismissed it, remembering that they have to take baby steps with this.

That night Tom and Maddie organized a family movie night, trying to help Amy feel as much at home as possible. She didn't understand the concept of TV but still found the films entertaining. They watched all three parts of Back to the Future.

Amy dozed off in Sonic's arms around the beginning of the second part. Her energy had been spent and she did a lot today. He grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around them as he scooted closer to the arm of the couch.

Tom and Maddie were sitting on the opposite side of the couch while Tails and Knuckles were seated in bean bags on the floor. As Sonic scooted away, Maddie looked over to him and smiled seeing how caring he is to his friend. She could already see a possible budding relationship but decided to save the teasing for later.

After the movie ended, everyone went to their respective sleeping places as Sonic carried Amy to her room. Maddie had tidied up the guest bedroom for her to sleep in so Sonic didn't have to give up his bed.

He laid her down in the bed and tucked her into it. He felt too tired to walk back up to the attic so instead he crawled next to her, laying on top of the blankets. He faced her and held her hand as he closed his eyes.

They were together again. It was still so surreal that sometimes he'd have to pinch himself to see if he's dreaming. About a month ago was when he'd had that first dream about her and now she's here.

She's safe, and he'd never break his promise again. He'd keep his word and protect her, no matter what happens.

He'd keep her safe.

Aaaaand that's a wrap! I know this story has been short but it's my first multiple part story so bare with me ^^;

Did I end it okay? Was this a good way to end it or should I have had it go on longer? If you have any critiques or things you'd like to say make sure to leave a review!
