Chapter 2: The Tale of Naruto Uzumaki: Begin!
"I'll be back in the morning to speak with Naruto on this. Make sure he stays in health until then." Catching his breath the sandaime spoke again.
"Hai Hokage-sama" Shibai said wrapping the sleeping Naruto in a blanket.
The next day
Naruto and Hiruzen were walking in Konoha's streets. Overnight Naruto had healed and was ready to go back to his home.
Hiruzen was escorting him home though. He didn't even want the thought of what occured last time to cross the minds of the villagers.
The walk was going fine with Naruto asking Hiruzen about him job.
But that's when Naruto asked a question he never did before.
"Hey old man, since you're the strongest in the village, do you think you can teach me hoe to become a shinobi?" He asked
To say the hokage was shocked would be an understatement. He gave a small smile and chuckled.
"No Naruto you'll have to wait to join the academy. You wouldn't know how much I would want to do it" Hiruzen thought
But Naruto didn't buy that. "You don't feel like you want to do that" Naruto said
Hiruzen raised an eyebrow clearly confused.
"You feel like something is troubling you when I said that. " Naruto explained.
"What are you talking about Naruto?" Hiruzen voiced his thoughts.
Naruto stopped and pointed at a bush. That bush right there has a lazy feel to it, it's the same lazy feel i feel in my apartment sometimes.
A sweat dropped from the bush as if it was a person.
Now Hiruzen was understanding. Naruto was a sensory type and when he sensed people he could feel their emotions somehow.
"You're right. Something was troubling me when I said that. I really want to train you but there's people who would stop me from that." Hiruzen said 'people' with disgust.
"Why? Don't you make what's right or wrong in the village." Naruto said picking up a stone and throwing it at the bush from earlier.
Hiruzen was collecting his thoughts for a moment and decided. "Yes, I am." Then he pulled out his pipe and said. "Alright Naruto, I'll start training you. Not for you to get a huge upper hand in the academy but atleast for you to tale care of yourself.
Naruto gave a huge smile and started to run ahead of Hiruzen, eager to get home and change.
His belly rumbled and he asked for some ramen which made Hiruzen chuckle.
Naruto and Hiruzen arrived at a forest area after they made two stops. The first one for Ichiraku ramen and the second for Naruto to go in his iconic orange jumpsuit. Later going to the forest.
Hiruzen decided that he would first teach Naruto about chakra and chakra control. He would need it for his developed dojutsu
"Naruto, do you know what chakra is?" Hiruzen asked smoking his pipe.
"Uhhh its that thing that helps you do cool jutsu right?" Naruto asked nervously.
"You're not wrong but not necessarily. Chakra is an energy that all living being have. Yes we do use it for jutsu, but we can use it for other things. Watch."
Naruto observed as Hiruzen took out a scroll and threw it on the ground.
A table and two chairs popped out as Naruto looked in awe.
"Woah! How did you do that!" Naruto exclaimed. "Fuinjutsu."
"What's that?" Naruto asked
"I'll teach you later. It's very complex you need a decent amount of chakra control and great writing." Hiruzen said
"Anyway. Chakra is easier controlled the smaller the size. Your chakra is huge so you have some problems with doing it, but we'll focus on that later today. Another thing to mention is that there are different types of chakra.
These types are based on the elements, Wind, Lightning, Earth, Water, Fire. But another thing to note is that there is Nature chakra" Hiruzen said.
"So you take chakra from plants?" Naruto inquired. "Yes, somewhat like that. You meditate balancing the energy of Nature with your own. But i you take in too much and it overpowers your chakra you can be lost forever." Hiruzen warned.
Naruto didn't understand but he was sure he would over time.
After a bit more explanation on chakras and teaching Naruto how to draw out chakra, Hiruzen was ready to teach Naruto to control his chakra.
They walked up to a relatively tall tree and Hiruzen decided to blow Naruto's mind. He walked up the side of the tree as if it were the ground.
"How do i do that!" Naruto asked excited.
"You have to keep a steady amount of chakra into the tree. Not to much not not to little. It shouldn't be that hard since a tree is a thing that doesn't move on its own." Hiruzen explained.
Naruto put on foot on the tree and strained on it to try and out the other up but the foot slipped off easily.
He felt awkward it's like he didn't even do anything. "Try focusing on the leg on the tree." The hokage helped
Naruto focused his energy to his left leg and it created a dent in the tree.
"That's too much Naruto! Try a little less." Hiruzen instructed.
Naruto tried his best. The food stayed on a little but when he strained it slipped down tripping him.
Naruto pouted, he was frustrated crossing his arms on the floor.
"Ah I know!" Naruto said catching Hiruzen's attention.
"My foot has to stick right?!" Hiruzen nodded which made Naruto smirk.
He laid back down on the grass and put his two feet on the tree. Slowly he took them off and kept going until they stuck on.
But that was Naruto's problem, they were stuck on.
He had found the perfect amount of chakra but he didn't know what to do when they actually stuck on.
"Naruto, lower the amount of chakra in the foot you want to put forward and attach it back to the tree when you put it down.
Naruto slowly moved each foot forward but flinched when he created a dent in the tree signaling he put too much chakra in and fell down.
"Thats not bad for your first day. You can practice more in your apartment, I'll hand you a book on these and we'll continue tomorrow. Oh and dont worry about your apartment walls they'll be fine" Hiruzen ensured.
It was getting late and Naruto had been working on chakra control for the whole day.
"Okay old man" Naruto said leaving Hiruzen at the training field.
8 weeks later, Naruto had almost mastered chakra control thanks to Hiruzen's teachings. He had mastered the tree walking exercise and almost had mastered water walking.
The only thing for him to do was learn to do it unconsciously.
It had taken him 8 weeks to master it cause Hiruzen was busy with his hokage duties often.
He was practicing to do walk on water unconsciously when Hiruzen arrived at the area, he thought he was going to learn some more, but he wouldnt be doing that today.
"Hey old man!" Naruto smiled and ran up to Hiruzen.
"Naruto! I have something to show you." Hiruzen replied
Naruto only looked in confusion as Hiruzen took something out of his pockets.
Naruto looked with excitement until he saw a paper.
"That's just a paper old man." Naruto said to Hiruzen who chuckled. "No, its not a regular old paper, look what happens if you channel chakra into it!"
Hiruzen explained as he did his own instructions.
The paper split into four parts the top left burning and turning into ash, the top right one damped as if it was in water, the bottom left crumbled and turned to dust, and the bottom right one wrinkled up.
"Woah! What was that?" Naruto looked interested again.
"These are chakra papers, channel chakra into them and they'll react to your affinity in accordance to these actions:
Fire: The paper will catch on fire and turn into ash.
Wind: The paper will split in half.
Lightning: The paper will wrinkle.
Earth: The paper will turn to dirt and crumble away.
Water: The paper will become damp."
"Cool, can i try?" Naruto asked the hokage.
"Sure. Here you go."
Naruto channeled chakra into the blank paper.
The paper spilt in two. The left paper damped and the right one burnt and transformed into ashes.
"Wind, Fire and Water!" Naruto smiled at Hiruzen and the hokage looked in disbelief.
"He has three chakra affinities and he isnt even a ninja yet." Hiruzen thought.
"That's impressive. Not many people have two affinities not to mention three." Hiruzen voiced his thoughts
"I told you! I'm going to surpass you and take that hat from you too!" Naruto took advantage of the Hokage's shock.
Hiruzen smiled and closed his eyes shaking his head, going back to his normal thoughts.
"Anyways, you have 3 affinities and you need to learn to be able to sense the difference. Lets begin with wind."
Naruto meditated concentrating like hituzen told him.
"Once you feel your own chakra try to find the part of it that is constantly changing. And once you do try and manupilate it into cutting this leaf."
Naruto concentrated. He had found the chakra it was a large part of his chakra but then again to manipulate something so huge is rough.
Hiruzen could see his struggles he could sense the chakra to the point of sight but it wasn't heading towards the leaf on his lap.
"Naruto. Adapt the movement of the leaf and try to manipulate it then."
Hiruzen said.
Naruto took a deep breath in. He had notice the chakra's 'path' if you could call it that. It was slightly forceful but still had the ability and was concise when turning.
Instead of pushing which would activate all his chakra's he followed the path of the wind chakra.
Hiruzen saw a line of his chakra lengthen turn around from it's direction towards the leaf and slice through said leaf.
Upon hearing the tearing sound Naruto opened his eyes and grabbed the two pieces of the leaf and shouted "YES!" before falling on his back in exhaustion, it had taken him three hours to get that.
"The next is water, This should be easy it's a flowing feeling that depends on a direction. It's like a river. The current goes in one direction and only that direction. "
As Hiruzen said it was easy and Naruto got the leaf wet in no time (thirty minutes).
"Finally, the fire chakra is probably the third hardest to control coming after wind. You just have to find the most forceful part of the chakra but this can be turned as well."
Naruto had only one type of chakra left so he singled out the other two chakras and attempted to control the chakra.
He ignited the leaf after an hour and a half which is half the time it took for him to do the wind exercise
"So have I mastered them old man?" Naruto said to Hiruzen who smirked.
"Depends, Can you split a water fall?" He jokingly said.
"Anyways we've been here for five hours let's finish up for the day. Why don't we get some ramen?"
"But I can train more!" Naruto retorted..
"I admire your endurance Naruto, but I have stuff to do you know." Hiruzen explained
"Fine.." Naruto said disappointingly walking behind Hiruzen
Naruto arrived was currently in a forest.
He had arrived home after eating at Ichiraku's. He had been quite disappointed that he couldn't train more and left after a while.
He had remembered that the hokage said something about splitting a waterfall so he found a fountain with water flowing from a hole.
The flow was wide so he figured he could use that.
He was practicing for a while with no progress.
"Why can't I split this! It's not even a waterfall like the old man said." Naruto groaned.
He had a frustrated look on his face and remembered.
"Water chakra doesn't split, it's wind chakra!" I'm an idiot!" He smacked himself on the head remembering something from a book the hokage forced him to read he nearly fell in the water he was standing in as he did the action.
Nothing happened still and Naruto was considering giving up.
He scratched his right eye and looked as he saw a small like slowly tearing through the continuous flow of the water.
Naruto widened his eyes as the tear grew bigger until it made it seem there were two currents of water.
He pumped his fist and exclaimed to himself. "Maybe books aren't so bad." as he continued the exercise.
"Hey! Wake up! Get out of the fountain." A voice said waking up Naruto.
"Eh-Huh? W-where am I?" Naruto was still sleepy after practicing chakra control exercises all night and fell asleep in the fountain.
He looked to who woke him up and he saw a black haired boy with a ponytail which noticably made him look like a pineapple.
"You're in the park's fountain what are you even doing here in the first place?" The boy asked.
"Maybe he lives here Shikamaru." A rather.. big.. boy came up behind the now identified Shikamaru as the boy responded "Don't be ridiculous Choji. You can't live in the park."
Naruto blinked. These two boys were around his age, and were talking to him.
"Uh, I fell asleep in the fountain, Hehe.." Naruto said sheepishly.
"What a drag, how do you even fall asleep there. Anyways, I'm Shikamaru, this is Choji, we were just about to hang out." Shikamaru said.
"My name's Naruto Uzumaki, and I was training overnight."
"Cool! You're a Shinobi or something?" Choji asked. "No but I want to become one, I'm joining the academy in 2 years!" Naruto said attempting to dry himself off. "That's when were joining as well, maybe we'll see you. Anyways let's go, Choji." Shikamaru added.
"If you want to join us you can." Choji said to Naruto taking a chip with every word.
Naruto smiled and quickly followed behind.
The trio had hanged out for the entire day, the next and a few days after.
Naruto had enjoyed their company as he never really had friends before and likewise they were appreciative to have another friend. Choji because Naruto was a challenge when it came to eating, preferably ramen and Shikamaru because Naruto had no idea to play shogi, his favourite activity.
Since Naruto had no experience or style he made weird moves that got Shikamaru to think of his moves.
The two were playing a currently intense game or shogi with Choji spectating.
Shikamaru moved a piece on the board giving Naruto the opportunity to kill two of his pieces.
Naruto smirked but when Shikamaru did as well he was curious.
"Sometimes, you have to make sacrifices to work for the better." He said noticing Naruto's confused remark.
"Yeah, but you can never forget your comrades, never." Naruto said after a while putting his piece behind another one of his, making Shikamaru not be able to attack.
Naruto smirked again as Shikamaru had a surprised look on his face, which quickly turned to his calculating pose.
They both had each other in an even game, 3 pieces to Naruto and 3 to Shikamaru.
Shikamaru calculated making his move. With this move he could kill Naruto twice and kill the third within the two next rounds.
Naruto was sweating. After playing a few times with Shikamaru he was understanding him but he still was clueless on what to do, Shikamaru was truly a mastermind.
Shikamaru grimaced when Naruto spat a toothy grin at him. Naruto was cackling on the inside, Shikamaru had thought he could kill his last piece with another round but he miscalculated. Naruto moved into a position where all three of his pieces were beside each other.
Shikamaru shouted in surprise, he hadn't noticed that spot. Now he was the one sweating.
"Dammit!" He mentally cursed himself while realizing that he would lose any way he goes.
He made the move and Naruto killed all three in one move.
They heard the sound of Choji's bag of chips falling and looked at the boy to see him in shock.
"The only person who beat me at shogi was my dad. That was awesome Naruto." Shikamaru congratulated.
"Thanks for playing with me, I better be going now it's getting late" Naruto said waving to his new friends.
Naruto was walking down a street to his apartment when he noticed he was getting followed.
His sensory skills allowed him to sense some chakra on the roofs above them.
As he approached the end of the street he was stopped by five men wearing animal masks.
The all had swords which frightened Naruto but he got himself together.
Their mood felt hostile so he got ready to run.
"Who are you!?" Naruto asked them
"Come with us, Naruto Uzumaki." one with a a bird mask said.
Naruto looked at him like he was insane.
"Yeah right! I want to go to my house so move!"
They didn't move..
Naruto flinched and started running away.
They quickly chased him and tried to flank him on either side on the walls.
Naruto gulped and put water chakra into his foot so he could dodge their potential attacks and run at the same time.
This was a good choice as it wasn't long before two tried to catch him. They bumped into each other as Naruto appeared to turn into a house.
He ran up to their surprise, they didn't know he was capable of that.
They followed him up the roof and he was at a dead end before he seemed to fall off the roof.
One looked over and didn't see Naruto before said blonde appeared and shoved a water balloon of pink paint into his mask, occupying him but allowing the others for go for him.
Naruto grimaced. He had sent multiple prank-traps after the five and nothing was happening.
They started using earth and water jutsu to try and catch him but none was working as he kept being nimble.
They were getting close to hitting him which triggered something in Naruto's head.
"You can't beat them if it goes on like this use my chakra!" Kyuubi said at the back of Naruto's mind.
"Yeah right! I'm not trying to kill people, you know!" Naruto screamed mentally.
"Just.. Trust me!" Naruto gave in as he stopped causing the anbu to as well.
He turned around suddenly to show that hie blue eyes had shifted red and his circular pupils slitted to those like a snake.
His clenched teeth had elongated canines which would tea through any non, chakra affected skin.
An orange chakra surrounded him and a tailed formed from it. Naruto got down on all fours and roared at the ninja.
The gust of air caused them to fly back a bit but not much.
"Kyuubi!" A ninja should barely holding on to his sword.
He roared even ferociously causing them to go back a greater sum.
Naruto turned around using the powerful chakra around him to travel at faster speeds than natural.
Naruto had reached his apartment safe and sound and immediately dropped on his couch.
"Who were they!?" Naruto panted.
"I believe they're called anbu, I don't know why they are attacking you though" The nine tails said.
"What am I going to do? They'll just attack me again." Naruto pondered. "Go to your hokage. He'll do something.
Naruto peaked outside his door and tried to sense any chakra around him. He sighed and tiptoed down his stars and ran down his street.
Thanks to his chakra lessons he could make his chakra appear small to his opponents. Though according to kyuubi anbu are skilled in sensory so he didn't know if that would work.
His doubts where proven wrong when he arrived at the Hokage's office passing the secretary who didn't notice him.
He opened Hiruzen's office slightly as the door creaked.
"Naruto?" Hiruzen looked up from the almost done paper stack on his desk.
"Old man? What are anbu?" Naruto asked Hiruzen suddenly.
"Uh, well anbu is a special military rank of Shinobi that serve by orders given to them directly from their kage, their squad leader or their commander/chief." Hiruzen "What made this question come up?"
"So you tried to kidnap me?" Naruto asked Hiruzen who was now completely focusing on Naruto due to his weird question.
"What are you talking about?" Hiruzen asked "Is this a prank?"
"These weird masked ninjas came out of nowhere and demanded I followed them, when I didn't they attacked me. Kyuubi said they were called Anbu." Naruto explained.
Hiruzen narrowed his eyes "I see. Well don't worry Naruto nothing will happen to you, but no I didn't order them. If that happens again be sure to tell me okay?" Hiruzen finished going back to his work.
Naruto exited while saying okay believing that his surrogate grandfather would solve the issue.
When Naruto left Hiruzen looked up again. "Follow him, and call my assistant on the way." to seemingly nobody.
An anbu appeared from the walls and bowed at Hiruzen before leaving.
2 years later around January
Naruto was at the academy, He had the hokage sign him up and he would be joining a class for three years before graduating.
He looked around the academy and smiled when he saw Shikamaru and choji sitting next to each other.
He ran up to them and said "Hey guys! Whats up?"
"Yo Naruto, Nothing just waiting for this troublesome thing to just start." Shikamaru said.
"I heared it starts in ten minutes." Choji said between his munches.
"Man really? What a drag I'm just gonna doze off. Wake me up when it starts." Shikamru said putting his head into his hands and trying to sleep making Choji and Naruto laugh
"Alright I'll see you guys, hopefully we get the same class!" Choji waved off to Natuto as said blonde found an empty swing next to a tree. It had nobody around there so he decided to sit there.
Ten minutes later all of the soon to be attendees of the academy were with their parents waiting for the Hokage to speak.
"Hello parents and children, as you know you'll be attending the academy today for possibly the first time ever. Here you'll learn to become great Shinobi and survive on your own in this world.
Please to pay attention to your instructors during their lectures if you want to do your very beat to survive. I wish you all the best of luck in this Shinobi year.
The hokage finsihed his speech and every child was assigned to a instructor to go to their new class.
Naruto was Assinged to class 301 and was in a line instructed by Iruka Umino.
"Take a seat anywhere students and lets begin our introductions." Iruka said.
"I'm Iruka Umino I'll be your instructor for the next three years and this is my assistant teacher Mizuki- well uhh just call him Mizuki-sensei!" Iruka said.
"Alright you! Start introduce yourself and something you want to do in the future." Naruto drowned out the sounds around him until his name was called.
"Naruto.. Uzumaki.." Naruto flinched when he heard his name in that tone.
He walked up to the front of the class and spoke. "I'm Naruto Uzumaki, I like a lot of things including ramen and training, and I'm gonna be Hokage one day!"
There was a short pause when he finished and everyone started laughing at him with the exception of five.
The first two were Shikamaru and Choji who had been at the front of of the class.
Another one was a dark blue haired girl who seemed to be trying to make herself small in the class.
The next was a brown haired boy wearing glasses and had his mouth covered by his collar of a grey jacket.
The final one was a raven haired boy who looked at Naruto with a look that said 'Why would you do that.' he had a blue haired shirt and a big collar around his neck. He sat over in the corner and looked at Naruto for a while with that same look which didn't go unnoticed before turning away.
After Iruka finished with the introductions of his students he began the lessons.
"Okay! First thing were learning is what is chakra!" Naruto sat beside the blue haired girl earlier and drowned out the voices until he heard something he didn't know.
"Naruto!" Mizuki shouted at him and all eyes were on him.
"Yes Mizuki-sensei?" Naruto replied.
"You aren't paying attention, What are the 5 chakra natures?" Mizuki smirked and said knowing Iruka hadn't reached there yet.
"I haven't even said that-" Iruka spoke just to be cut off. "Fire, Water, Earth, Lightning and Wind"
Mizuki growled and said again "What's the rarest chakra nature?"
"Wind." Naruto answered nonchalantly.
"What happens when fire chakra is channeled into an object?" Mizuki asked finally.
"It ignites." Naruto said again.
Mizuki had a grimace on his face while Iruka and the rest of the class were in shock. Iruka was only at the chakra points.
Naruto went back to not paying attentions as he learnt all of this from the hokage already over the two years.
He sighed though as he noticed that Mizuki had something out for him for some reason. He shrugged it off as one of those mindless villagers who thinks he's kyuubi.
He could only hope he'd enjoy this school.
That's it! Chapter 2 finished, sorry it took so long. And I'll try to be more consistent and update you more often! This time there won't be any time that I don't save so everything is fine. So yeah that's pretty much everything.
Next Chapter: The Ninja Academy, What Could Go Wrong?
And Cya!
(ignore this update I made a typo error at the end, when Mizuki spoke I made Naruto respond with Iruka)
