Epilogue

After Chara spent some time recovering in the true lab, the monsters, human, and soul eater emerged from the underground and saw that the rain had stopped, and now the sun was setting beautifully. "Man, staying on the surface too long made me forget how nice the sunset is." Remarked Undyne.

"Agreed, but what happens to Asriel and Chara now?" Asked Toriel.

"Well, since Chara needs me around, I have an excuse to stay." Said Asriel.

"Well, me and Sans would be more than happy to take care of you." Said Toriel.

"As for you Chara." Started Undyne. "You're gonna be staying with me!"

"What!? Why!?" Asked Chara.

"A couple reasons, first, I vowed to make sure nothing like what the people from your old village did to you would happen to you again. And second, that whole twin thing you have going on with Asriel is freaking me out." Replied Undyne.

"Seriously, why do you two always dress the same?" Asked Frisk as she gestured to Asriel and Chara's matching outfits. The only noticeable difference was that Asriel was wearing pants while Chara wore shorts.

"Well, it was actually just a coincidence that we were wearing matching sweaters when Chara fell into the underground, but after that we decided to do it more often because it made us feel closer." Explained Asriel, slightly embarrassed.

"AND I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WILL HELP UNDYNE WITH RAISING CHARA." Announced Papyrus.

"What!? Why!?" Asked Undyne.

"FIRST OFF, YOUR METHODS OF DISSAPLIN ARE A LITTLE, MURDERY. SECOND, SOMEONE HAS TO MAKE SURE YOU AND CHARA DON'T GET INTO ANY TROUBLE." Answered Papyrus.

"Fine, but my house in Waterfall isn't big enough for three, so we'll have to use yours in Snowdin town." Replied Undyne.

"Ahahaha, Wonderful, a family reunited, two lovers back together, and life goes completely back to normal for the rest of us!" Cheered Mettaton. "Let's celebrate! Party at my place!"

"Mettaton, forget all the nice things you said earlier, we cannot be friends." Said Undyne in annoyance.

"You're no fun." Replied Mettaton sadly.

"I'd be happy to join in on one of your parties deary." Said Muffet.

"I-I mean, we live in the same house, so if you have a party, I kind of have to go." Pointed out Alphys.

"I CAN TAKE CHARA TO THE PARTY FOR HER FIRST GOODNESS LESSON! SOCIAL INTERACTION!" Cheered Papyrus.

"What!? I don't want to go to a party!" Complained Chara.

"Well, if Chara doesn't want to go, then I'm definitely going." Said Sans.

"Mom, since Chara's going, can we go to?" Asked Asriel.

"Please?" Added Frisk.

"Oh, alright." Replied Toriel.

"If everyone else is going, I guess I might as well." Pouted Undyne, not wanting to be left out.

"Do you mind if I come?" Asked Asgore.

"Not at all! The more the merrier." Cheered Mettaton as he and the group set off for Hotland, giving one last glance at the beautiful sunset.

"Arf! Arf!" Yipped the little white dog as it followed the group.

While walking through the white void of purgatory, Gaster watched all the events unfold through what appeared to be a small, square monitor, which disappeared when he was done with it. "Chara is no longer killing, Asriel has returned to his family, and everyone seems to be getting along." Listed Gaster to himself. "It looks like the perfect ending. Too bad things aren't over yet." When Gaster finished talking, he arrived at a small area of purgatory where instead of everything being white, everything was black. However, in the middle of the black void, there stood a white figure, about the same height as Gaster, but it appeared to be hunched over. "When angel son and demon daughter, reunite with worldly mother, it awakens an evil like no other. Though living things turn to dust, this primal beast readjusts. Though protection will be enacted, there is no stopping… The Redacted." When Gaster finished speaking, the white figure opened one of its piercing red eyes, and the black colored void surrounding it began expanding into the white.

A few days after Mettaton's party, Toriel had her house repaired and a room set up for Asriel, right next to Frisk's room. Despite Asriel and Chara being a couple now, Toriel, Sans, Undyne, and Papyrus agreed that they shouldn't be left alone together until Chara's mental health was in a more stable place. Chara still blamed herself for everything that had happened, but with everyone trying to help her, she was making good progress towards recovery.

One night, Asriel was looking in the mirror in his room, tracing the parts of his face where the black streaks in his fur once were, but now the black streaks only came up to his neck. Now that I'm back to my normal form, the black patterns in my fur should have completely disappeared. Thought Asriel. But they're starting to come back. Before Asriel could think about this any further, there was a flash of lightning outside, and as he looked in the mirror, he saw a silhouette appear in his window. Asriel quickly turned around, only to find that there was nothing outside his window. "I'm going nuts." Said Asriel to himself, before he turned around and saw a Valentinian heart drawn in blood on his mirror. Asriel yelped in surprise as he fell onto his back, but then he heard giggling coming from his window and he looked to see Chara sitting outside the window, giggling in amusement. "Chara!" Called Asriel. "Wait… how did you draw that if you're outside?" Asked Asriel as he gestured to the heart on his mirror.

"He-he, I have my ways." Replied Chara. "Are you going to let me in, or do I have to wait out here for the rain to start?" Asriel opened the window, and Chara climbed inside. Chara then gave Asriel a quick kiss on the cheek and said, "I've missed you."

"I missed you too." Replied Asriel as he pulled Chara into a hug, which she gladly returned. "I take it that Undyne and Papyrus don't know you're here?"

"That's right." Replied Chara. Both Chara and Asriel took a seat on the edge of Asriel's bed, and Chara pressed against Asriel's side.

"Chara… Do you think things will ever go back to normal?" Asked Asriel.

"What do you mean?" Asked Chara.

"Mom doesn't want anything to do with Dad, no one trust us to be alone with each other, things are just so different now." Said Asriel.

"Yeah, I know what you mean." Replied Chara. "I don't live in the same house as you anymore, no one trust me anymore, but we've changed a bit too. We've been through a lot, so maybe, instead of trying to make things like they were before, we could try making things how we want them to be later."

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Replied Asriel. "Even if we're not supposed to be alone together yet, we just need to prove to everyone else that we can be."

"Well, that is going to be pretty difficult with me sneaking into your room." Joked Chara. "But I will try and be on my best behavior for a while."

"Thank you, Chara." Said Asriel. "I love you."

"I love you too." Replied Chara. "But remember Azzy… I'll still kill anyone who tries to separate us." Said Chara while she made her creepy face. Asriel quickly planted a kiss on Chara's lips, making her face return to normal as she kissed him back.

"I would expect nothing less of you." Joked Asriel as he pulled Chara into another hug. For hours the two lovers sat in their embrace, the light of the stars shining in through the window, until the gentle sound of the night lulled them to sleep.
