Chapter 20 FINAL: Hope for a Better Tomorrow

"Greetings! It's already been a long time since I visited you, hasn't it? About...6 months or 1 year maybe? No matter. The important thing is that I'm here to see you once again... Or at least from a certain point of view. Things have changed since you left this world. I want to tell you something. All that we fought for, all that we believed in, and all the sacrifices and suffering that we went through together...It was worth it in the end. We did it! The Resistance won! Finally...the Cadaverini Empire has collapsed. Shortly after the battle ended, federal agents and government forces arrived. A state of emergency was declared to arrest all remaining members of the empire. And all those who helped Bossi Cadaverini.

I'm not going to lie to you, it was a bittersweet victory. We lost many friends in the final battle. Daniel, Anderson, Ichiro and Duncan…were just a few of the many who lost their lives on the battlefield. And you know? True justice has arrived. Ultimately, Bossi Cadaverini received a fair trial for war crimes. The jury and the judge found him guilty on all counts. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. However, something strange happened at the trial. Bossi, for some reason, told the judge and jury that he did not want that sentence. He wanted... the death penalty. It was something unusual. Centuries ago, the death penalty was abolished in BubbleTucky. However, after much legal, ethical and moral debate….. The judge granted his request and so Bossi was sentenced to death by electric chair. Many were present that day. However, Bossi's last words were somewhat impressive…"

"I'll be honest. I don't know if I feel sorry for everything I did. But one thing I do regret is not being a good father figure to Jane. I will never forgive myself for what I did to her, although that was never my intention. I want to go where Jane is, but I know I won't go there. I wouldn't deserve to go where she is now. I think I deserve what they're going to do to me" Those were the last words of the former Supreme Leader before the electric chair was activated.

"...I know….It surprised me too….Things began to improve little by little. They started with the reconstruction of BubbleTucky, Big BubbleCity and all the cities that were under the regime. Normalcy will take a long time to come. Regarding our friends, they are fine. The Guppies are doing well, although it was not easy for them. Many people hate the Bubble Guppies for everything they did as "The Elite". In fact: Goby, Deema, Oona, Nonny, Zooli and Urchin had to go to trial for the demands of the families of the victims. Nonny's father was the defense attorney. Mr. Pirruccello argued that everything they did was against their own will and the proof was the cyborgs' chips and blueprints. The judge declared them innocent. However, the Cyborg-Guppies had to be monitored by the government for a while with ankle-trackers. Many did not like the idea, but they respected it. Some called them traitors, but luckily, the Bubble Guppies always find a way to overcome problems….."

"KILLERS! KILLERS! DIE! THEY SHOULD DIE LIKE BOSSI! KILL YOURSELVES!"

"People can be cruel. But I don't blame them. They lost many loved ones because of the Elite. The guppies weren't to blame either. They were mind controlled. But in pain and anger, people don't think straight. But aside from that. They are well. Oona was able to go to Japan for a few days and stayed at Ino's house. Goby managed to reunite with his older brother and his father. They survived in the mines. Although Mr. Imani will have to use a wheelchair for the rest of his life because of the savages who left him paraplegic due to excessive abuse. Deema, well, after that hard stage, she was the same again. And now she is living with Goby. Nonny is hard at work trying to get the Guppies-Cyborgs back a bit of their humanity. Which... is almost impossible. Zooli began to search for a way to restore the humanity of her boyfriend, Urchin. Nonny decided to help in the process. Fortunately, Mrs. Lee-Rivers was still alive. She wasn't at BubbleTucky when all this happened. And do you know good news? Nonny made it!"

Zooli and Mrs. Lee-Rivers were waiting patiently outside a hospital room. For said operation, it was necessary for Nonny to participate for the Dreadnought blueprints and technological systems. And obviously, the best surgeons were needed. It took many hours and even days to do anything. However, Nonny left the lab to break the news to Zooli and Urchin's mother. They asked about him, but he didn't answer, preferring that they see Urchin for their own eyes. And what they saw impressed them. They watched as the stretcher lifted a robotic guppy. It looked like it was a Darth Vader type robot.

"Urchin….can you hear me?" Nonny asked. The machine's eyes lit up a nice blue color.

"Y…Yeah….What's this? I feel different. I no longer have that huge battle suit" Urchin looked at his robotic body.

"I'm sorry I can't take the robot away from you completely. It was impossible. If I did, you died. At least we managed to create a new body for you. That suit is more than all protection. You really are a complete guppy as far as it goes" Nonn explained his situation.

"Urchin!" Zooli and Mrs. Lee-Rivers hugged him and they cried a lot.

"Urchin...there's something you should know. While we rebuilt your body...I...I...I managed to correct your tail. Urchin...you will never use your wheelchair again...You can swim" Nonny explained the new news.

"R…Really?!" Immediately, Urchin decided to leave his hospital bed and it was true. He was already swimming on his own! He though he started to move clumsily and was going to fall to the ground if it wasn't for his girlfriend.

"Be careful!" Zooli advised him.

"Hehehe….Can you….teach me how to….walk and swim? I….I never had the ability. I feel like a baby asking you that" Urchin asked nervously.

"Hehehe of course," She said with tears in her eyes. Although Urchin was wearing a helmet...under the helmet, his cheeks were red.

"...Mr Grumpfish is fine. However, he entered a stage of depression. Well, his only and true friends went to the afterlife. I saw that the guppies started to get closer to him. And you know, he decided to accept them more into his life. Now they spend a lot of time together. Like they did with Mr. Grouper…..Dylan was never the same. He decided to leave BubbleTucky to find a new destination. His heart ached at the loss of his brother and the girl he once loved. Sometimes he visits Deema...but he is usually abroad…..Not everyone has a sad ending, you know? Nobody expected it but...Avi and Sharon fell in love! Both created an orphanage with the children who were left without parents because of the regime. In fact, they adopted a girl whose mother died in childbirth, due to the conditions of the empire. They are a quirky but very loving little family..."

"Gilly?...I haven't seen it again. I believe...he died of cardiac arrest that day. But I don't know, I haven't been back to town. Do not worry about me. I'm fine. I have decided to get away from everything and everyone. I am facing inner demons. Ever since Jane died, guilt haunts me every night. I'm not calm. I think that's what you meant when you said that I shouldn't fall into that darkness (sigh) I think it's too late for me. But...thank heaven that I was able to visit you once more. It could be the last time. Goodbye, Mia. My beloved sister…."

That's right, all that dialogue and story was Molly visiting the famous Valley of the Fallen. The town decided to remodel it to be a more remodeled cemetery and a little more noble for a cemetery of heroes. The grave belonged to Mia Gentilella. She had great recognition for being the Leader of the Movement that freed BubbleTucky. Therefore, on her grave there was a huge statue of her in a heroic pose with the revolver in her hand. The grave was full of flowers. And the older sister left some pink flowers. Molly wore black clothing and a hood so as not to be recognized. It was obvious that she had tears in her eyes. She heard footsteps and she decided to quickly flee into the woods. When she left, two crabs arrived who were security guards.

"I swear I listened to someone here" One of them said confusedly.

"It's a graveyard, man. Be careful, these are ghost voices. Let's just ignore it and go back to our posts" The other said nervously.

"Maybe you´re right"

The girl was walking through the forest until she reached her new home. An old wooden cabin which she remodeled to be able to live quietly. She had a small barn where she kept chickens and a small personal garden. She was greeted by an unexpected visitor. He was a wolf that was growling at her at first.

"It´s just me, my little Dakota" She simply removed her hood and extended her hand to her visitor. The wolf simply approached and let the guppy pet him "Good boy"
"Wof Wof" The wolf brought her a dead fox which he hunted for her.

"Thank you, boy. But I think you should go. You don't want to scare away the chickens hehehe" Molly said with a smile. The wolf decided to release his dead prey and decided to get out of there. Looks like he was some kind of lone wolf.

Molly decided to take in the sunset view. Where she lived was on a hill in the middle of the forest. She saw her beloved BubbleTucky under reconstruction from the cliff.

"Huh?" She decided to touch her head for a moment and noticed something curious. Her pink hair was growing back. Although she was still bald as a result of the war, it seems that before long she will have her hair back "Hehe nice. It seems that I will finally stop being bald"

"HA-HA-HA!"

"Grrrr" Molly stood up and drew her two daggers at that evil laugh. She noticed that someone was in front of her. Finally, she reappeared.

"Congratulations Molly! We did it! Jane is gone! you should be proud of yourself" It was Damaged Molly one more time.

"Grrrr you! You made me do all this" Molly said angrily.

"I don't understand. You should be satisfied. Though it's disappointing that she didn't die by your hand" Damaged Molly commented.

"Don't you see it? She gave her life for me! She sacrificed herself for me even when I wanted to kill her! That's not fair! She did...what I was supposed to have done...if not for the path I took. And all for you" The girl pointed with her finger.

"You really are naive, Molly. You finally fell into my trap. The dark path you decided for yourself. As far as I know, ever since you woke up in the rubble of the school, you haven't seen or heard me. You yourself made the decision to become an assassin. And know? Finally you and I are one. Look at the mirror! You are the same as me! I am you completely. And you know the best? You made the decision yourself. You're not going to get rid of me anymore...or them!" Damaged Molly snapped her fingers and several mysterious shadows appeared that began to torment the young Gentilella.

"You´re a murderer!"

"Jane saved your life. She became you ... And you in her"

"The roles have been changed!"

"STOP!" Molly started to touch her head with both hands.

"You became what you swore to destroy"

"Mommy and Daddy would be disappointed!"

"SHUT UP!" Molly screamed and started to cry.

"You can no longer be the same. Hypocrite!"

"You're a disgrace to the Bubble Guppies!"

"Gil doesn't love you anymore! He hates you!"

"EVERYONE HATES YOU, MOLLY GENTILELLA!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

"ENOUGH!" Molly screamed loudly. She fell to her knees and wept. When she looked up, no one was there. Both the dark version of Molly and the shadows disappeared. Only the wind of nature was heard. She was breathing heavily. It was not the first or only time that those inner demons visited her. She was no longer sure what was real or not "I haven't been able to...be at peace...since that day. I... I can't do this anymore. Without my parents, without Mia and without my friends... What hope do I have? I can not anymore. I... I already want to leave everything... I have nothing more to lose. Is this the end of me?"

"You are not alone, Molly. Besides, this is not the end"

"Huh?!" Molly decided to turn around and noticed that someone was there waiting for her. She walked slowly towards him "Is that really you? Or is it another nightmare?"

"Hehehe no. I´m real…I guess. After so long... I found you!"

"G…GILLY!" She quickly hugged him tightly. And indeed it was true. Gil was present and accepted the hug. They lasted a long time in that embrace. Molly cried a little and caressed her boy's cheek to make sure it wasn't a hallucination or a dream. But not. He was real.

"Hehehe It was worth looking for you for so long. I knew I'd find you after so long" Gil smiled at her.

"I…I…I didn't want you to see me in this degrading state. Just...look at me...M...I've turned into someone like Jane. I turned into an evil being. I wanted...to finish her off...and let's not forget how I treated all of you. I...became someone like her. I took a path and no one can help me" Molly lowered her face. Her boyfriend took her chin to make her look into his eyes.

"Molly...Don't forget everything we've learned. Tell me...do you believe that people can change?" Gil asked her with a tender tone.

"I´m not sure, Gilly….I…" She was hesitating.

"Hey…..Jane changed….She changed even though no one believed in her. But I gave her the chance to help her change..." Gil commented.

"...Y…Yeah…She…She saved my life…..Despite everything...She really wanted to do things right...and I didn't believe her" She said with regrement.

"Hey! If Jane could change….What makes you believe that you cannot change?" The blue-haired guppy smiled at her.

"Gilly….I…I don't deserve your love. You...deserve someone who isn't as damaged and corrupted as I am" She was still negative.

"Fear not, Molly. You are not alone. No more. Maybe several friends and family are no longer with us...but you know? We still have each other...And you know? We have our other family" He decided to point behind them. The girl decided to turn to see and several people came out. They were the Bubble Guppies!

"G..GUYS!" Molly was surprised to see them again.

"MOLLY!" Goby, Deema, Oona and Nonny approached her quickly and they hugged her tightly.

"I…I…I need space!" Molly said funnily.

"Whoopsie!" Deema apologized. The guppies gave her some space. They were still cyborgs, but they were the same as before.

"We finally found you, friend!" Goby said with a smile.

"You don't know how much we missed you" Oona admitted.

"It took me a long time to locate you with my drones. But it seems like it was worth it in the end" Nonny explained himself.

"Guys! We are here!" It was Zooli helping Urchin to walk. Urchin had his metallic body covered like a robot.

"Zooli!...U..Urchin?!" Molly was surprised to see him in a new body.

"I know, it's incredible right?" Gil commented.

"Now he´s Urchin-Tron!" Deema said with a funny tone of voice. Everybody giggled.

"Actually…." Urchin decided to remove his helmet finally. He spent a lot of time with the helmet that he needed to live... But thanks to intensive treatment... He no longer needed it. Everyone could see his beautiful face full of scars and he had longer hair "...Just Urchin is fine"

"Wow!" The guppies were surprised.

"I still can't get used to this lifestyle... But hey! Zooli taught me to swim! I'm finally a real guppy!" He said excitedly and he swam quickly,

"Don't talk nonsense, Urchin! You were always a real guppy!" Zooli scolded him in a gentle tone of voice.

"Zooli is right. But we are glad that something good came out of all this" Oona added.

"You are right. I just can't believe it" Urchin expressed his feelings.

"Guys...thank you for coming...But, I don't know if I have enough strength to go back to our home. I'm not ready to face the future. I lost loved ones and became a person that I hate myself" Molly said with sadness.

"You are not the only one who lost loved ones. We lost as much as you. And you know? We too became monsters. But that didn't stop us. It's okay to feel bad. I still feel bad about everything I did under Gregory's control. But we must have faith in a better tomorrow. We can believe that we have the ability to learn and continue towards a better future" Nonny explained seriously.

"We still have us. Do not forget this. We are the Bubble Guppies, right? And we always know what to do" Deema commented with a comforting smile.

"You've never been alone, Molly. And you never will be" Oona said.

"We only have to leave that pain of the past to enjoy a better future. I learned it with all of you. And believe me, we can build something better" Zooli added, remembering her own experience.

"If we work together...we will do great things. I don't know what things will happen in the future, but I know that we can overcome any adversity that comes if we are together" Goby added. Saying those words, the 8 Bubble Guppies gave each other a big hug. That hug was enough to calm the sadness and anguish that Molly was suffering. She understood in that moment that they would be with her at all times from that day on.

"Guys….Thanks…Truly….Now...I will face reality...with all of you" Molly looked at the sunset.

"I´ll be there…..my dear" Gil took her hand and he looked the sunset at her side.

"We too!" At that moment, they all decided to sit together and watch the sunset. They were seeing the orange sky and the sun hiding behind the mountains. They saw their hometown under reconstruction to return to its former glory. Normalcy was close at hand. When everyone calmed down, someone decided to brighten things up.

"Hey….You know? Now that we're together and things are calm... I've been thinking of something. It's true that we will be half guppies, half robots for the rest of our lives...So...we could be superheroes!" Deema said funnily. Our Deema is back.

"What? Come on!" Zooli raised her eyebrow.

"Are you kidding us, right?" Goby asked confusedly.

"Come on, guys! Think about it, now we have unique abilities. They are like superpowers! Me with my wings! Goby with the super strength of him! Oona with her fighting skills! Nonny with the power to control technology from her! Zooli with her hunter abilities and Urchin with his Robocop style! We would be the Super-Guppies!" Deema said with a high spirit.

"You've been reading a lot of comics, friend!" Oona giggled a little.

"Wouldn't that be cool? Maybe being cyborgs isn't so bad. At least I won't be late anywhere again because of excess traffic. I'm just flying to my destination!" Deema winked at them.

"Deema!" Goby said laughing. The guppies began to laugh and have a good time like in the old days.

"(Using our abilities….Interesting)" Nonny thought about it and gave a tiny smile.

After sunset, they decided to return to town to face their new future. They know very well that they will face difficult things. Well, the recovery of the great battle was still complicated. Many people still do not trust the Bubble Guppies and there were many things that needed to be fixed in order to lead a new peaceful life. But despite the pain and difficulty, they knew that if they stayed together and supported each other, things would be better. No matter what timeline it was, they would still be the Bubble Guppies. And as good news, this is simply: A Side Story.

"Hmmmm Hmmmm Ugh….Wh…Where am I?"

A girl with beautiful black hair opened her eyes. She just had a beautiful white dress with no blemishes. She noticed that she was at the edge of the sea on a beautiful beach with blue sea and white sand. It was a perfect, pollution-free beach. It was such a perfect place that it seemed like it wasn't real.

"Beautiful….Isn´t it?" A mysterious voice appeared.

"It´s….perfect" The girl said with a big smile "Huh?! Wh…Who are you?!" She asked scaredly

"Me? Just someone who had been waiting for you for many years... dear daughter" Before she appeared a guppy woman with beautiful black hair and a perfect white dress like the girl's.

"N..no! M…Mom!" The girl was shocked. The woman just opened her arms.

"Hello….my little Jane" It was her! Mrs. Reed was there! Jane was the girl who was in that beautiful place. The young woman could not resist and decided to hug her and she began to cry.

"snif…snif…Mommy!"

"Shhh….Don´t cry, baby. In this new life there is no longer crying or pain. Here there is only peace and love. I knew I'd see you again in this place" Mrs. Reed said with a big smile.

"Wait….It isn't possible…Why am I in this place of peace, in this paradise, when I did horrible things?!" Jane asked with tears.

"Don't you remember, darling? In your last days, you let that Gil boy guide you to the right path. All the time that he helped you and you began to change was the beginning of your redemption. But…forgiving Molly and giving your life for her despite what happened between the two of you…was proof enough of your complete redemption. And for that...you are here, enjoying an eternal rest...with me" Her mom touched her cheeks.

"I can't believe it...I..I...I'm glad to see you again, mom!" Jane finally smiled at her.

"Jane, do you remember that we always wanted to go to the beach together?" Mrs. Reed asked with a smile.

"Y…Yeah. But Dad….you know…." Jane still remembered about her past a little.

"Hehehe….Let's go swimming! Later I will show you everything that this place offers. And believe me, we will have an eternity to enjoy" Her mom decided to run towards the sea.

"Hey! Wait for me, mom! Hahahaha!" She started to giggle and she followed her mom to finally enjoy her eternity with the person that she loved. And in this way, Jane achieved her redemption. At least, in this timeline. Will there be a chance for a redemption in the canon line?

I know, everyone is surprised by such a fast update. But anyway it was going to be a very short chapter. And so ends this great story. A completely different line. And all for having changed a part of the final plot of BGTY Season 3.

I dedicate this chapter to a friend of mine who literally recently passed away. He was a close friend, very loved by my neighborhood. And all because of a disease that appeared out of nowhere. So I dedicate this final chapter to him. So, I can only say that we value the people we have in our lives. Because we don't know when they can go quickly. I can only say: Fly high, my friend!

Leaving the tragic note, I thank all the readers who supported this story. I really appreciate it. Obviously I'm coming out of my mourning, so I'll work hard to continue with my life and obviously with my beloved fanfics. Stay tuned for surprises I have for all of you.
