Chapter 2
Fight and Review
(MCU, HYDRA Siberian Base)
"OMPH!" Iron Man groaned as he was slammed into the wall by his super soldier opponent. 'I wonder if this is what it's like to fight Cap?' he wondered.
Josef Steinn, the German Winter Soldier, advanced on his foe and began pounding on his face and chest.
"Thank God for Titanium plating." Stark said as he tried to blast Steinn with his repulsors, only for the HYDRA agent to either dodge or deflect Stark's hands, causing him to shoot at the lab. "You know Steve was much more reasonable!"
"I am Not like That Inferior Soldier!" Steinn growled as he kicked Stark in the gut once again.
"Yeah, he was better looking." Iron Man groaned as he ignited his thrusters and tackled Steinn around the waist.
Akachi Tonnes, the African Winter Soldier, was fighting War Machine. The Air Force Colonel was glad his armored suit gave him both protection and strength, because his opponent could really deliver the blows.
He deflected punch after punch before getting kicked in the gut. Rhodes stumbled back as he blasted the ground with his left repulsor, causing Akachi to leap up to avoid it, and then fired another blast from his right repulsor, sticking the Winter Soldier in the chest.
"Gotcha!" Rhodes said as he leapt at the man, grabbing him around his neck and body to contain him. "Let's try a sleeper hold on you, brother!"
"Get off! Get Off!" Akachi shouted as he struggled in Rhodes grip.
"Oof! You're a wily one, aren't you?" Rhodes groaned as he struggled to hold the man.
Spider-Man, Tony Stark's teenage recruit, was fighting the Chinese Winter Soldier, Li Zhong Wu, and doing a better job at dodging than fighting.
"Don't suppose we can talk about this?" Spider-Man asked as he dodged punches and kicks from his opponent.
"Die!" Li shouted.
"Why are you so angry? Is it because you were frozen for so long?" he asked as he dodged the punch.
"Fight Me!" Li shouted as he kicked at the webslinger.
"Didn't you get hypothermia?" he asked as he dodged again.
"Hold Still!" he shouted as he punched again.
"I hope you don't think I'm being racist by fighting you." he said as he avoided another punch.
"Stop Dodging!" Li shouted as he punched and kicked again.
"I mean I can understand, but you went right for me. Is it because you're shorter than the others and I'm shorter than the others?" he asked as he leapt backwards to avoid his opponent.
"Be Quiet!" he shouted as he advanced on him.
"I can't help but wonder just where you learned all this. Could you tell me!" Spider-Man shouted as he fired his webbing at the man.
"Do You Have To Talk So Much?" he shouted as he dodged the attack.
"I find it relaxing." he said as Li charged him.
"Get Over Here!" Li shouted as he charged the younger hero.
"Who are you, Scorpion?" he asked as Li finally tackled him.
T'Challa just groaned. His opponent was the largest amongst the five Winter Soldiers, yet he didn't seem to be any slower.
Cadoc Petroski attacked the Black Panther who dodged and deflected his attacks with ease. Cadoc kicked T'Challa in the chest, knocking him backwards. The Black Panther rolled back and sprang back up off his hands and onto his feet. His claws extended from his fingers as he charged Petroski.
The larger man swung his fists, trying to nail T'Challa in the head, only for the prince of Wakanda to duck and dodge, while slashing at the Russian Winter Soldier with practiced ease.
"ARGH!" he shouted as the anti-metal claws cut across his chest.
"Had enough?" T'Challa asked.
"Grrr!" he growled as he charged.
"I did not think so." T'Challa said as he flip-kicked the man in the chin.
Helen Morehart, the blond, female Winter Soldier, smirked as both Ant-Man and Hawkeye were on their backs.
"She's tough!" Ant-Man groaned, having been kicked in the gut.
"Tougher than Natasha." Hawkeye huffed, having been punched in the face.
"Any idea?"
"Flank her from two sides, our best option."
"Gotcha!"
The pair got back up and attacked, as Helen went right for Ant-Man. The red and silver-garbed hero suddenly vanished, shrinking down to ant-size, which confused the blond woman as she suddenly felt her arm pull back behind her while Hawkeye smacked her in the face with his bow.
"Sorry. Don't mean to hit a woman, but... I think you can take it." he said as Helen felt herself being pushed forward by an unseen force.
"Yeah, sorry about this!" a voice in her ear said.
"Who said... are you shrunk?" she called out as Hawkeye persisted in attacking.
Iron Man slammed Josef into the opposite wall, knocking the wind out of him.
"FRIDAY, analyze fighting style and adapt counter-measures." he said as Josef got back up and attacked.
The armor's AI quickly analyzed the fighting style of the German super soldier, and reacted, enabling Tony to block and counter-attack his deadly opponent. He punched Josef in the stomach, chest and face, causing him to fall backwards.
'I wonder if Cap and the others are having better luck than we are.' Tony thought as the German Winter Soldier struggled to get up.

(DCEU)
"So... any luck?" Steve asked.
"I am still going over the lists." Alfred said. "But here is what I have so far."
"Stan said there were four groups. Who are the first ones on the list?" Natasha asked.
"That would have been you, The Avengers."
Natasha smirked as Alfred brought up the other list.
"Second group: The X-Men." Alfred said as he pressed the play button.
"Mutation is the key to evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from single-celled organisms, into the dominate species on the planet. It is a slow process, taking several thousand years, but every few millennia, evolution leaps forward." the voice of a cultured man said.
"These X-Men, named after their founder, Professor Charles Xavier, a powerful telepath, were recruited by Xavier around the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis, in order to combat the threat of mutants who misuse their powers of selfish or evil purposes. Xavier wanted peace and co-habitation between humans and mutants, knowing that there would be people who irrationally fear what is different." Alfred explained.
"Random people getting super-powers, who may or may not be good? Yeah, I can understand that." Sam said.
"Who're the top candidates?" Natasha asked.
"Ororo Munroe. Code-name: Storm. Trained pilot. Sociological, English and math teacher. Mutant power to control the weather."
The video showed a beautiful dark-skinned woman with long white hair using her powers against various foes and threats. Like summoning a series of hurricanes at will, summoning lightning to strike down a pair of bad mutants like Sabertooth and Toad.
"Incredible." Vision stated.
Sam just whistled as he saw the woman. She was powerful and a beauty.
The screen changed again. The image of a young man with dark-blond hair and brown eyes appeared on the monitor.
"Bobby Drake. Code-name: Iceman. Mutant power of cryokinesis."
The images showed Bobby flying around on a sheet of ice that he was generating from his hands, firing and freezing a giant robot called a Sentinel. It also showed his battle against a fire-manipulating mutant named Pyro. And winning.
"Cool." Falcon said.
"You had to say it." Natasha said.
"Sorry."
"No you're not."
"Yeah, I'm not." he said with a smile.
The screen changed again, showing a young woman with long brown hair and eyes.
"Katherine 'Kitty' Pryde. Code-name: Shadowcat. Genius-level intellect. Mutant power of phasing."
The screen changed. The group saw Kitty walk through walls and doors like they weren't even there. They saw her pull a hulking brute in armor, calling himself The Juggernaut, down into the ground, and escape through a heavy armored door while holding on to someone else, enabling them to escape through the door as well.
"Girl is like a ghost." Bucky said.
"Damn!" Sam said.
The scene changed again, showing a dark-skinned man with dreadlocks and wearing a black uniform with a red cape around his shoulders and carrying a large high-tech rifle.
"Lucas Bishop. Trained soldier, survivalist and marksman. Mutant power of energy absorption and discharge."
The computer showed various scenes of Bishop using his powers. Like absorbing the energy of another mutant, named Sunspot, and even lightning bolts from the mutant named Storm, and using that energy to charge up and fire his gun at a large robot-like being called a Sentinel.
"He pulls in energy into his body and fires it right back, huh?" Bruce wondered.
"Through his rifle, apparently." Steve said.
"It appears to be a safe medium through which to channel his powers." Vision stated.
"Wonder if he could do it through his hands?" Bruce mused.
The scene changed again. This time it showed a Hispanic young man in a yellow and black suit with a small burn scar on his arms and face.
"Roberto De Costa. Code-name: Sunspot. Mutant power of plasma-fire energy discharge, flight and enhanced strength."
"Like a living inferno." Wanda said.
The screen images showed Sunspot projecting massive amounts of plasma fire from his entire body at a large robot-like creature. They saw him flying around like a buzzing fly and even punching a much larger foe, a Sentinel again, using his fists.
The scene changed again, this time showing a Native American man in red and black wielding a pair of trench knives.
"James Proudstar. Code-name: Warpath. Mutant power of enhanced physical abilities. Superhuman eyesight and hearing. Expert tracker and knife fighter."
"How good is his eyesight and hearing?" Steve asked.
"It says here he can see and hear objects coming at him at least ten miles away." Alfred said.
"At least? Nice." Sam said.
The image changed again, this time showing a young Asian woman with pink cheeks, green eyes and pointed ears wearing a rather colorful suit.
"Clarice Fong. Code-name: Blink. Mutant power of portal-generation. Distance of portals: 20 miles."
The screen changed to show Blink opening portals to use to travel from various places, but also using them to allow the X-Men to strike at various enemies such as these strange super robots.
"Pretty handy for escapes and evacuations." Natasha said.
"Or rescues." Steve said.
"Not to mention transportation." Bucky said.
"Yeah. Moving things from one room to another, in the same house, a different house, down the block or another town..." Sam said.
"Sam!" Natasha snapped.
"I'm just saying."
The image changed again, showing a beautiful Asian woman with long dark hair and green eyes. She was dressed in a skintight bodysuit and carried no weapon with her.
"Yuriko Oyama. Code-name: Deathstrike. Trained fighter, marksman and pilot. Mutant power of superhuman regeneration, enhanced senses and fingernail claws. Entire skeleton has been surgically laced with unbreakable adamantium metal."
The image changed, showing Yuriko using her extendable metal claws, which looked to be about 12 inches long, on a guy with three metal claws coming out of each hand. Her fighting skills and healing powers all appeared to be top notch.
"Whoa!" Bucky said.
"Yeah. Bet she spends a fortune just painting them." Sam joked.
"Sam!" Steve said with a laugh.
"Sorry, Cap, I can't help it." he smirked.
The image changed again, this time showing a dark-skinned man with black hair and brown eyes wearing a cowboy hat and outfit.
"John Wraith. Code-name: Kestrel. Trained soldier, proficient in boxing. Mutant power of line-of-sight teleportation. Distance of teleportation: 3 miles."
"A teleporter. Nice." Natasha said.
"But only three miles?" Sam asked.
"Line-of-sight. Hard to see where you're going when so much is in the way." Bucky said.
"Yeah. Can't teleport into another room... if you don't know what's in it or where the furniture is." Bruce mused.
The image changed again, this time showing a cute blond teenager with blue eyes.
"Emma Silverfox. Code-name: Shard. Mutant power of diamond-skin transformation. Limited telepathic capabilities." the computer said as they saw Emma change her skin into living diamond.
"Beautiful." Natasha said.
"Diamond-hard skin? That means she's almost indestructible." Wanda said. "Like you, Viz."
The image changed again, this time showing a sexy Asian woman with long dark purple hair and blue eyes, dressed in a blue and purple 'swimsuit', long blue gloves and boots, and had a sword on her back.
"Elizabeth 'Betsy' Braddock. Code-name: Psylocke. Highly skilled martial artist and swordswoman. Mutant power of energy-weapon creation." the computer said, showing Betsy using her energy-blade to slice a car that was thrown at her in half.
"That's very impressive." Natasha said, liking the power and skills of these women.
The image changed again, showing a tough-looking man with wild black hair, chomping on a cigar and dressed in a black suit with orange lining his suit.
"James Logan Howlette. Code-named Wolverine. Superhuman healing factor. Bone claws. Skeleton is laced with indestructible metal called Adamantium."
"Just like Yuriko." Bruce said.
"Apparently, he was first though." Alred said.
The group then saw Logan's exploits, his fights through various conflicts, from the American Civil War, to World War I, World War II, and Vietnam.
"Whoa. Man certainly has experience, doesn't he?" Sam said.
"His healing factor also apparently keeps him in the prime of his life. If his fighting in various wars for a century is any indication." Alfred said.
"Look, Steve. He even fought in World War II." Bucky said.
"Just like us, Buck." Steve agreed. "Still, he seems familiar, but I don't know him."
The image changed again, showing a tall and athletic man in a black bodysuit.
"Peter Rasputin. Code-name: Colossus. Mutant power of steel-skin transformation. Steel-skin three times harder than columbite-tantalum (Coltan.) Physical strength: 100-times that of a normal human. At peak physical ability."
"Wait, so... this guy is a hundred times stronger than, say, an Olympic athlete?" Sam asked.
"Apparently so." Alfred said.
"That means he's... 100-times stronger than Captain America?" Sam asked.
"So it would seem."
"Which would put him in the same strength-class as Arthur or Diana." Bruce mused to himself. "Maybe Superman."
"There are several more on the list, but these thirteen seem to be the top choices." Alfred said.
"Good choices." Sam said.
"Who's the next group?" Natasha asked.
"Third group: The Fantastic Four." Alfred said.
"Nice name."
The screen showed a picture of a distinguished-looking scientist-type, Caucasian, upper 30's with brown hair and white highlights around his ears.
"Reed Richards. Code-name: Mr Fantastic. Genius-level intellect. Cosmic energy absorption gives him superhuman elastic body." the computer said, showing Reed using his fingers to squeeze under a tightly locked security door and then stretch his arm from the floor to the door handle in order to open it.
"Gross." Bucky said.
"Cool though. Like a human rubberband." Sam joked.
The image changed showing a beautiful woman with long blond hair and blue eyes.
"Susan Storm. Code-name: Invisible Woman. Genius-level intelligence. Cosmic energy absorption enables her to bend light around her body as well as create nearly impenetrable force fields." the computer said, showing Sue using her powers to disappear and create force fields capable of deflecting lightning bolts, from some guy in a metal suit wearing a reen hood and cloak.
"Force field powers. Like she's got her own shield." Sam said to Steve.
The image changed again, showing a handsome and athletic African-American man with black hair and black eyes.
"Jonathan Storm. Code-name: Human Torch. Expert mechanic and driver. Cosmic energy absorption grants him pyrokinetic abilities, including self-propelled flight." the computer said, showing Johnny igniting himself and flying through the air at incredible speeds.
"Don't we already have a guy for that? Sunspot?" Wanda mused.
"Plasma fire is not the same as regular fire." Vision said.
"Coming out of someone, not sure I'd call it regular."
"Wait, Jonathan Storm? As in... Sue Storm's brother?" Sam asked.
"Must be a mixed family. Step-siblings are not uncommon." Bruce said.
"Yeah, but... not the first thing you would think about." he added.
"Moving on." Natasha said.
The image changed again to show a tough-looking middle-aged Caucasian man, with a bald head and blue eyes. The man looked like he belonged in the NYPD.
"Benjamin Grimm. Code-name: The Thing. Highly skilled street fighter and pilot. Former NASA astronaut. Cosmic energy absorption transformed him into a nearly invulnerable, super-strong humanoid rock man." the computer said as it showed an image of Ben Grimm now, as a large, 7'1" rock-man who weighed about 1200 pounds. A video clip showed him tearing apart a Russian tank like it was made of paper.
"Whoa! That's taking the whole 'solid as a rock' to new levels." Sam said.
"Says here he was from Brooklyn, New York. Just like us, Steve." Bucky said.
Steve smiled at hearing that.
"Who are the next candidates?" Natasha asked.
"The Defenders." Alred said.
The image appeared on the screen, showing a man in a red and black leather and kevlar suit with a pair of horns on his head.
"Matthew Murdock. Code-name: Daredevil. Occupation: Criminal defense lawyer. Martial arts vigilante with enhanced senses and radar-vision. Physically blind." the computer said as they watched the file.
"Really?" Sam asked as he saw the video of Daredevil fighting several thugs almost at once. "Doesn't seem like it."
"Obviously adept." Bruce said.
"Sound appears to be his advantage, and his weakness." Natasha said.
"Says he's from a place called Hells Kitchen. You know it?" Alfred asked.
"It's a neighborhood in New York." Steve said. "Pretty rough neighborhood."
The image changed showing a beautiful Greek-Asian woman wearing red and black and wielding a pair of sais.
"Elektra Natchios. Extensively trained and skilled ninja-assassin. Peak physical athleticism. Stealth. Marksmanship. Hand-to-hand combat skills. Speaks a dozen languages. Expert in poisons. Suspected precognitive abilities." the computer said.
"Do we really need an assassin?" Vision asked.
"We might." Natasha said.
"Better to have them on our side than against us." Steve said.
The image changed again, this time showing a woman with long dark hair and brown eyes, dressed in a black leather jacket, jeans and boots.
"Jessica Jones. Former superhero with PTSD, now a private investigator. Exposure to unknown chemical mixture granted her super-human strength, bulletproof skin, and limited flight." the computer said.
"Sounds almost like Superman." Alfred mused.
"Almost." Bruce said.
The image changed to that of a muscular dark-skinned man with no hair, wearing a yellow shirt, jeans and brown boots.
"Carl Lucas, a.k.a. Luke Cage. Professional street fighter and bodyguard. Experimental government program granted him super-human strength and steel-hard skin."
"Says here he was framed for a vicious crime by his half-brother turned arms dealer and volunteered for a top secret experiment in exchange for leniency on his sentence. The experiment was sabotaged but Carl gained super powers, which he used to escape prison seeking to clear his name." Alfred said.
"And now he's here, in our world." Bruce said.
"Sounds like a heavy hitter." Steve said.
"Nice we get another brother in the mix." Sam said.
"I wonder if this experiment was another super soldier project." Bucky wondered.
"Makes sense. The government wanted the best, strongest army in the world." Natasha said.
That bears looking in to. Bruce mentally mused to himself. Something didn't feel right about this.
The image changed to that of a blond-haired man dressed in a green and yellow monks outfit.
"Daniel Rand. Code-name: Iron Fist. Martial arts mastery and ki-force energy fist. Gained through extensive training in the mystical city of Kun-Lun."
"Kun-Lun?" Sama sked.
"You might know it by another name: Shangri-La." Alfred said as he read the file.
"Really?"
"Perhaps an analog in this universe."
The clip of Iron Fist showed he was definitely well-trained in combat, and his energized right handm which he used to destroy walls, knock cars and trucks away, and even blast the ground to knock several enemies away from him.
"Guy's got a hell of a right hook." Bucky said.
The image changed again, this time showed an attractive woman with long red hair and green eyes.
"Patricia "Trish" Walker. Code-name: Hellcat. Former model and child actor known as 'Patsy' who gained superhuman agility and reflexes to become a vigilante. Adoptive sister and friend to Jessica Jones. Found by a sorcerer known as Jericho Drumm who turned her away from a much darker path. Martial arts and acrobatic skill. Psychic senses. Limited force-field abilities makes her nearly bulletproof. Low-level mystical powers."
"Sounds pretty versatile." Natasha said, interested in her skill set.
The image changed showing an attractive Asian woman wearing a white hoodie, pants and sneakers and wielding a glowing sword.
"Colleen Wing. Highly skilled fighter and swords woman. Martial arts teacher. Possesses cat-like agility and reflexes. Wields a mystical 1000-year old sword. Expert cyclist. Knowledge of the occult."
The image changed to show Colleen fighting in a cage match against several other fighters. And winning.
"Another kick-ass woman. Nice." Wanda said with a smile.
The image changed to show an attractive African-American woman with brown hair and eyes, wearing a red jacket and jeans. She also appeared to have a mechanical right arm.
"Misty Knight. Harlem police detective, expert markswoman, surveillance specialist, bionic right-arm has magnetic abilities and hacking capabilities. Expert driver."
"Sister's got a mechanical arm. That's interesting." Sam said, looking at Bucky.
"Apparently, she lost her arm defending Colleen Wing and another woman from a criminal leader named Bakuto. Arm was sliced off, but replaced with a mechanical limb that gives her enhanced strength. Was upgraded with an electromagnet and computer interface. Courtesy of Danny Rand." Alfred said to the group.
The image changed to that of a dark-haired Caucasian man in a white outfit that looked like a mummy wrapped in a white hood and cloak, with boots and crescent-moon shaped weapons.
"Marc Specter. Code-name: Moon Knight. Ex-Marine turned mercenary and a former CIA operative. Gifted intellect. Granted superhuman abilities by the Egyptian Moon God Khonshu. Super strength waxes and wanes with the phases of the moon. Possible personality disorder."
"Sounds impressive." Wanda mused.
"Yes. Like a white version of the Batman." Alfred said.
Bruce just gave Alfred a look, like he was joking.
"Next on the list." Alfred said.
The image changed to a hard-looking man with black hair and black eyes. He gave the impression of a soldier who had seen alot of bad things.
"Frank Castle. Code-name: Punisher. Former Marine Corps. Captain. Former undercover FBI agent. Speaks ten languages, expert in weapons, tactics, hand-to-hand combat, mechanics, marksmanship, tracking. Was involved in 12 special ops CTU."
"Counter-terrorist unit, huh? Nice." Sam said.
"He has been known to kill people. A lot of people." Alfred said.
"Why? Does he like it?" Sam asked.
"He views it as punishment, not murder. According to his file, his family was killed by mobsters and he doesn't believe that the justice system is doing enough to eradicate the problem."
"So he's taking the law into his own hands." Natasha said.
"And apparently he's quite successful at it." Alfred said.
"Yeah, well, wouldn't be the first to be right." Bruce mused.
The image changed to a wild-looking man on a motorcycle. There was a look in his eyes that made it seem like he didn't care if he lived or died.
"Who is this guy?" Sam asked.
"The most powerful of the lot." Alfred said.
"Johnny Blaze. Code-name: Ghost Rider. Motorcycle stuntman. Mechanic. Possesses the power of Hellfire, given to him by the 'son of the Devil'. Incredible strength, invulnerability, pyrokinetic abilities, Able to infuse any vehicle he rides and object he uses with Hellfire. Penance Stare."
"Wow." Sam gasped when he saw the man, a skeleton with a flaming head.
"What's this 'Penance Stare'?" Wanda asked.
"It makes the person who it is used on feel every sin, crime and anguish they have ever inflicted upon anyone else." Alfred said, reading the file.
"Seriously?" Sam asked.
"He makes the perpetrators feel their victims pain. The severity depending upon how many people they have hurt." he said.
"Ouch."
Bruce immediately started wondering what would happen if that power was ever used on someone like... The Joker. It actually made him shudder.
"How did he get like this?" Steve asked.
"The file said these powers were given to him by... the son of the Devil?" Wanda said as she read over Alfreds shoulder.
"Well, not exactly." Alfred said as he brought up the history. "Blaze apparently sold his soul to the Devil, in exchange for saving his fathers life. Too many cigarettes gave him cancer. The Devil cured his fathers cancer, but caused the accident that ended his life."
"Proof positive that you should never make deals with Devils." Vision said.
Wanda couldn't help feel that was leveled at her.
"Blaze was infused with Hellfire and became the Devils bounty hunter, The Ghost Rider, as a result of his deal. Ever since then Blaze has been using his curse to fight against him." Alfred said.
"Nice." Sam said.
"So... what's this 'son of the devil' business?" Bucky asked.
"A while back, the Devil tried to transfer his soul and powers into the body of a boy-child that he had with a human woman on Earth." Alfred said.
"Really? Why?"
"Apparently the Devil is weak on Earth, a consequence of his being cast out of Heaven. The bodies he creates cannot sustain his incredible powers for long, so he needed a perfect host. Like that which is specially created on Earth. Johnny interfered, and somehow got his powers removed and his soul restored, but then the boy got kidnapped and delivered to the Devil to preform some kind of ritual to replace himself into the boys body. Johnny apparently tried to save the boy, without powers, only to get captured and have the boy give Johnny back his Ghost Rider abilities. The boy was apparently like his father, a lot alike. Johnny saved the boy and sent the Devil back to Hell."
"Again, nice." Sam said.
"And that's the list." Alfred said.
"This is an impressive list." Wanda said.
"What about the five new heroes we could have? Do you have anything on them?" Bruce asked.
"Actually... there is a short clip about them." Alfred said.
"Venom, member of the Klyntar, an inorganic, amorphous, symbiotic extraterrestrial species with great empathic abilities. Capable of surviving in the depths of space, in an oxygen-rich environment they require a host to survive. Symbiosis requires massive amounts of food during the bonding process. The Klyntar require regular infusions of phenethylamine in order to survive. This chemical is produced in the human brain, but can be found in the most reliable substitute: chocolate!"
"So... if we find a suitable host for that thing... we should make sure it's a diabetic." Sam said.
Natasha and Wanda gave him a look.
"What? It's a good deal." he defended.
"Symbiote powers include super strength, reflexes, senses, superhuman healing abilities and extendable tendrils."
"What about the others?" Bruce Wayne asked.
"The super soldier formula. Created by Dr. Abraham Erskine back in the late 1930's and early '40s. Serum amplifies everything inside a person, both physically and mentally."
"What does that mean?" Wanda asked.
"It means... that whoever is given the serum will be enhanced to the peak of human physicality. But it also affects their personality." Vision said.
'Known members: Johann Schmidt, former Nazi scientist and member of Hitler's inner circle, stole Erskine's original formula and used it on himself. Schmidt gained enhanced physical prowess, but the formula caused a physical transformation.'
The clip then showed Schmidt ripping off a very good rubber mask and revealing a bald, red-skinned face, with no nose, underneath.
"Whoa!" Wanda gasped.
"That's what I thought." Bucky said.
"Because of this transformation, Schmidt was named The Red Skull." Steve explained.
"Creepy." Sam said.
Bruce and Alfred could only agree.
"Erskines early formula was not ready for human use, and caused a physical transformation in the user." Steve said.
"Second user: Steven Grant Rogers."
The clip showed a short, skinny Steve Rogers being injected with the formula while being placed inside a metal coffin-like object and then being bombarded with Vita-Rays. The end result was a physically perfect human specimen.
"Talk about an upgrade." Bruce said.
"The key to the serum is the user. As the serum amplifies everything inside a person, it does not just make them physically stronger, it amplifies their personality as well. Which means that a good person will become a more nobler and righteous person. In the same way that an evil person will become more of a monster than they were." Alfred said.
"Which is why Steve Rogers was chosen." Bucky said.
"And why we need to find a candidate similar to him if we're gonna get another super soldier that can help us in the coming conflict." Bruce said.
"And not turn on us, or maliciously kill any innocent person." Natasha said.
"Okay, that's good to know." Sam said.
"Next up?" Bruce asked.
The image changed to show a picture of Spider-Man, the one who had stolen Cap's shield at the airport.
"Spider-Man. Real name: Peter Benjamin Parker. From Queens, New York. High school student with gifted intellect, bitten by a genetically-altered arachnid and gained the proportionate abilities of a spider. Super strength, speed, reflexes, agility, stamina, durability, healing-factor, and enhanced senses, forty-times normal. Organic web-producing glands within his wrists enable him to project synthetic webbing allowing him to ensnare objects and people, but also swing from building to building."
"Like Tarzan." Sam said.
"Spider-Man also possesses a danger-warning sixth sense that enables him to avoid harm to his person. Special nanotech suit was created by Tony Stark, possesses mechanical 'spider-limbs', bullet-proof kevlar lining, Heads-Up-Display, on-board artificial intelligent computer system, auto-repair system and emergency GPS tracking beacon."
"Nice."
"Yeah, that sounds like Tony." Natasha said.
"While Peter Parker did not possess organic-webbing glands in his wrists, the spider-venom in the syringe will enable such genetic transformation."
"So... the web-shooters were part of his suit?" Sam asked.
"Actually, it says here that... he built his own web-shooters. Lad was quite bright." Alfred said.
"Another reason Tony recruited him." Natasha said.
The image changed to show picture of T'Challa, the Black Panther of Wakanda.
"Black Panther. The protector of the isolationist nation of Wakanda. A million years ago, a meteorite comprised of Vibranium crash landed onto Earth, in the region which would eventually be known as Wakanda, Africa. The Vibranium affected the Earth and plant-life, resulting in the creation of the Heart-shaped Herb. When the time of Man came, five tribes settled in Wakanda, These tribes took to fighting each other, until a warrior shaman received a vision from the Panther Goddess Bast and was lead to the Heart-Shaped Herb. He ingested the Herb and gained enhanced physical abilities such as strength, speed, reflexes, agility, senses and healing abilities. This shaman became the first Black Panther and the first king of Wakanda. Since that time, the Black Panther has protected Wakanda and it's people, as well as ruled over the nation itself. The Panthers key ability is his hyper kinesthetic senses, which is akin to muscle memory, as well as enables him (or her) to see with extreme clarity, even in the dark, as well as the ability to see ultraviolet and infrared aspects of the electromagnetic spectrum."
"Damn! That's incredible!" Sam said.
The image changed to show the nanotech housing unit that came with the Avengers.
"Iron Man. Advanced suit of armor, created by billionaire industrialist Tony Stark shortly after his capture and imprisonment by a terrorist organization called The Ten Rings, in Afghanistan. Stark created the armor as a means to escape, and afterwards perfected the suit. Several times over."
The clip showed various images of Stark's armor. From his Mark I (Mk.1), which was a clunky, scrap-iron suit that was barely held together, all the way up to the Mark L (Mk.50), the streamlined nanotech suit that was currently housed in the hand-held unit in the suitcase. The clip even displayed the Mark 5 suitcase armor, the heavy-duty Hulkbuster armor, the War Machine armor, the Iron Patriot armor, and even the white and blue Iron Legion suits.
"Man. Tony sure was a busy beaver, wasn't he?" Sam said.
"That's a true inventor and engineer for you." Vision said.
The clip then showed the capabilities of the Mark L, in simulation of course.
"So, that little thing, houses an entire suit, and includes everything from super strength, unassisted flight, invulnerability, energy weapons, and can even protect the wearer going into outer space or underwater. Impressive." Bruce said.
"Perhaps your suit could use such an upgrade." Alfred smirked.
"I'm pretty sure I could." Bruce said.
"What about people in this universe?" Bucky asked.
"Yeah. I mean, don't you have heroes too?" Sam asked.
"We do." Bruce said as he pulled up the files he had on their own 'recruits'.
"Wonder Woman. Alias: Diana Prince. Amazon warrior from the island of Themyscira. Fought during World War I. And most recently helped us defeat that Doomsday monster. Incredibly strong, fast, highly skilled. And has some very special weaponry."
"Arthur Curry, The Aquaman. The guy I tried to recruit just before I met you guys. He's half-human and half-Atlantean. Super strength, underwater survival, incredibly fast and agile under water, and can communicate and command aquatic life."
"Really? Aquatic life? Like... fish?" Sam asked.
"Also sharks, whales, octopus, you name it." Alfred said.
"Earths oceans hold trillions of such creatures." Vision said.
"He could have his own army." Wanda said.
"And then some." Natasha said.
"Flash. Real name: Barry Allen. From Central City. From what we can tell, he somehow gained superhuman speed and has been using it to help people and fight crime."
"Cyborg. Victor Stone. Used to be a football player with a bright future, until an accident left most of his body destroyed. He was saved by his father, Dr. Silas Stone, using a technological alien device to transform him into a highly advanced cybernetic lifeform."
"This is it?" Sam Wilson asked as the team watched various clips of their abilities.
"Our top picks." Bruce sighed heavily.
"There are a few others we recently came across. The file was included in the disc drive that Stan gave us." Alfred said.
The file name and images came up.
"The Justice Society?" Wanda asked.
"Carter Hall, a.k.a. Hawkman. Believed to be a reincarnated Egyptian prince, possesses the power of flight from his Nth metal wings. COnsiderable fighting skills. His weapons as well as his ship are also Nth metal." the computer said as an image of a dark-skinned man in a gold hawk-like helmet and wing appeared on screen.
"A guy with wings who can fight." Bucky said as he looked at Sam, who just gave him a wiry smirk.
"Maxine Hunkel, a.k.a. Cyclone. Capable of manipulating wind and generating sound." the computer said as it showed an image of a young woman in a green and black outfit, controlling wind to an incredible degree.
"Kinda young, isn't she?" Wanda said.
"Doesn't matter her age. She has powers." Steve said.
"And knows how to use them. She's also apparently quite the computer specialist." Alfred said.
"Albert "Al" Rothstein, a.k.a. Atom Smasher. Can manipulate his molecular structure to increase his size and give himself super strength."
"Kinda like Scott Lang." Sam said. "Least he said he could get up to fifty feet in height."
"Albert is the nephew of The Atom, a hero who could shrink himself down to subatomic size, and the suit he wears was given to him by his uncle." Alfred said.
"Keeping it in the family, okay." Sam said.
"Kent Nelson, a.k.a. Dr. Fate. Master of the mystic arts via the ancient golden helmet he wears."
"Kent is apparently one of the most powerful magic users on the planet, and because of the magics he is imbued with, is over 100 years old." Alfred said.
"Just the four of them?" Sam asked.
"Currently, yes." Alfred said. "There's also a listing for someone named Shazam. Apparently a wizard that can grant superhuman powers and abilities to 'worthy' people to be his champions in this world."
"Does it say where we can find him?" Bucky asked.
"Some place called the Rock of Eternity." Alfred said.
"And that is...?"
"Between the barriers of this world and the next."
"Not incredibly helpful."
"What about the heroes from your world. Or... the metahumans?" Steve asked.
"Some of these people are criminals. Some from a parallel dimension." Bruce said.
"Here are the ones from this universe." Alfred said as he brought up the file.
"Floyd Lawton, a.k.a. Deadshot. Master marksmanship skill. Professional assassin."
"Lawton's got a daughter whom he loves very dearly." Alfred said.
"But not enough to give up being an assassin." Bucky said.
"He's good at what he does, and it makes good money. Well, not good, but a lot." Bruce said.
"Harleen Quinzel. Former psychiatrist. Incredible acrobatic skill. Fearless. Mentally unbalanced. Code-name: Harley Quinn."
"As in harlequin. Like a clown. Huh. Seems like she was fated for that." Natasha said.
"Fell in love with one of her patients, but... that didn't go very well." Bucky said, reading the file.
"Some guy called... The Joker." Sam said
"He's more dangerous than he sounds." Bruce said sternly.
"Waylon Jones, a.k.a. Killer Croc. Human-crocodile man. Amphibious. Strength, durability, aquatic skills, healing, resilience and adaptations."
"Creepy." Wanda said.
"He's known to be a cannibal." Bruce said.
"Figures." Sam said.
"I captured the three of them in Gotham City. They were sent to Belle Reve, a special metahuman prison in Louisiana." Bruce said.
"Chato Santana, a.k.a. El Diablo. Probably the most powerful pyrokinetic in the world. Former gang member in East L.A., he surrendered himself to the authorities when he accidentally set fire to his house and killed his wife and kids."
"Jeez!" Sam gasped.
"But he surrendered to the police?" Wanda asked.
"Guilt, obviously." Steve said.
"Okay."
"He was also sent to Belle Reve." Bruce said.
"Tatsu Yamashiro, a.k.a. Katana. Highly skilled swordswoman. Wields a mystic blade called the Soul Taker, which traps the souls of it's victims."
"Again, creepy." Sam said.
"According to this, she's not a criminal." Natasha said.
"More like a vigilante/merc-for-hire. She was originally found in Tokyo, Japan, killing Yakuza gang members." Alfred said.
"Anyone else?" Steve asked.
"Ronnie Raymond, a.k.a. Firestorm." Alfred said, showing a young man with fire powers wearing some kind of red, yellow and silver device on his chest.
"He used to be an engineer working for a scientific organization called STAR Labs, until he was fused with a special device that gave him incredible pyrokinetic abilities. Including flight. But... since the accident in Central City he's kinda been off the grid." Bruce said.
"He's one of the people from the other dimension." Alfred said. "Then there's this one. Kara Danvers, real name Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl." he said, bringing up an image of an attractive young woman with blond hair, wearing a blue and red outfit.
"What can she do?" Sam asked.
"Super strength, speed, flight, invulnerability, heat vision, x-ray vision, super hearing." Alfred said.
"More over we think she might be from another alternate universe, like Ronnie." Bruce said.
"An alternate-alternate dimension?" Sam asked.
"Yes."
"Wow."
"Jonn Jonzz. The last Martian. Strength, flight, speed, shape-shifting, telepathy, invisibility." Alfred said.
"He's from this universe and he's been hiding out here in this world." Bruce said.
"Impressive." Natasha said.
"You said, the Last Martian?" Wanda asked.
"Yes. Some sort of cataclysm happened on his home planet of Mars while Jonn was away. With Mars destroyed, Jonn came to Earth and has been living here, undercover, ever since." Alfred said.
"Shape-shifting and telepathy would make for a very good means of blending in with the local population." Natasha said.
The image changed to a rough and scruffy looking man in a trench coat smoking a cigarette.
"John Constantine. Supernatural investigator. Expert on the occult. Mystical powers includes pyrokinesis, knowledge of many different magical spells, rituals and curses, such as evocation, necromancy, illusions, invisibility, and can even use magic to time travel. He is also knowledgeable of elemental magic, teleportation, counter spells and psychic protection." Alfred said.
"Wow. Pretty powerful this guy." Sam said.
"Yeah. But his personality ticks people off." Bruce said.
Another image came up, this one of a sexy blond-haired woman in a mask wearing black leather.
"Who's this lady?" Bucky asked.
"Dinah Lance. A.k.a. Black Canary. Highly skilled martial artist with the metahuman ability to emit a powerful sonic scream that can shatter steel and concrete." Alfred said.
"Cool." Sam said.
"She is also from another universe." Bruce said.
"Caitlin Snow, a.k.a. Killer Frost. Genius-level intellect. Cryokinetic control and manipulation." Alfred said, bringing up an image of a woman with pale skin and blue hair wearing a blue leather outfit.
"Wait, this says... she's merged with her evil counterpart from another dimension?" Natasha asked.
"Yeah. Apparently Dr. Caitlin Snow merged with her evil double, Killer Frost, from an alternate universe. Caitlin is the mind inside Killer Frosts body." Bruce said.
"What happened to Frost?" Steve asked.
"Don't know. File is incomplete." Alfred said.
"Which means... if she's still inside that body..." Natasha started to say.
"She might be like an evil conscious, kind of thing?" Sam asked.
"Perhaps." Alfred said.
"Have to keep an eye on that one." Sam said.
"Seems you've still got a pretty good list here." Bucky said.
"Even though some of these people are from different universes." Bruce said.
"And several of them are criminals." Steve said.
"Why are they on the list?" Vision asked.
"Because they are extremely skilled and powerful individuals. They have... potential." Bruce said, though not really convinced.
"They're also off-the-grid. So trying to locate them is tricky." Alfred said.
"The criminals we've mentioned - Deadshot, Harleen, Killer Croc, El Diablo and Katana - are from this universe. The heroes - Supergirl, Firestorm, Black Canary, Killer Frost, Constantine, Jonn Jonzz - are from another dimension." Bruce said.
"How did they get here?" Bucky asked.
"The file says they were in another dimension when they were 'dropped off' here due to a battle against a powerful cosmic being called The Anti-Monitor. He was threatening to destroy multiple dimensions and timelines, but was stopped by the heroes of different worlds joining forces against him. These six heroes were knocked into this universe by The Anti-Monitor and with no way back to their home." Alfred said.
"We have a location on some of them. My attempt to recruit Arthur Curry kinda flopped. We have a lead on this Barry Allen, of Central City. This Cyborg is proving to be a little difficult to locate. We think he might be in Metropolis. His father works for STAR Labs in Metropolis, so, maybe he stayed close to home. As for Diana..." Bruce said.
"She lives in Paris." Alfred explained.
Steve was watching the videos again.
"And who is this... Superman?" Steve asked.
Bruce sighed a little at seeing the Kryptonian hero.
"His name was Kal-El, of the House of El, an alien from the planet Krypton. But he looked just like us. The planet was destroyed decades ago. His birth parents apparently sent him to Earth to save his life when he was a baby, and was raised by a nice couple from Kansas. Smallville, Kansas." he said, getting Steve to look interested. "They named him Clark Kent, and he eventually became a reporter working for the Daily Planet in Metropolis. They taught him our values. He lived here, fell in love, helped save our planet from being destroyed, by the last remnants of his own people, a paramilitary group lead by someone named General Zod, and... died saving it from a monster." Bruce explained, showing them the final battle against the creature the newspapers eventually called Doomsday. "He had incredible powers. Super strength, speed, flight, invulnerability, heat vision, super senses. Got his power from the sun and is vulnerable to kryptonite."
"Kryptonite?" Bucky asked.
"A green radioactive mineral from his homeworld. We used it to kill Doomsday, which was also kinda from his world. Superman was the most powerful hero we had." Bruce said.
"Wish I could have met the guy." Steve said.
"What about this guy? Barry Allen?" Natasha asked, indicating another photo.
"He's essentially off the grid. Squatting in some place, never stays anywhere for too long." Alfred explained.
"So he's a ghost?" Bucky asked.
"Disappearing act. But he does have one catch. He visits his father. In prison, for killing his mother." Alfred said.
"Jesus." Sam said.
"Young Barry has always professed his fathers innocence. But he was nine, and no one listened to him." Alfred explained.
"What's his ability?" Wanda asked.
"Just from looking at this video, I'd say superhuman speed." Vision said. "He lets go of the bottle of milk, takes out the robber on the other side of the store, and gets back to catch the milk before it hits the ground. Impressive." the android said.
"I don't think my brother was that fast." Wanda said.
"The X-Men are said to be somewhere near Coast City. On the abandoned outskirts. The Defenders are in Bludhaven, a few miles from Gotham City. Place like that needs heroes. And these Fantastic Four people... well, they are somewhere in Europe." Alfred said.
"And these other heroes are somewhere in this world." Steve said.
"Yeah." Bruce said.
"Still... I'm liking this more and more." Sam said to them.
"There's something else. The name of the person who threatened Earth thousands of years ago. The one who might be coming back." Alfred said.
"What's his name?" Wanda asked.
"Steppenwolf."

Authors Notes:
I am using the Fantastic Four members of the two films, both 2005 and 2015.
So it's basically the Ioan Gruffudd-version of Reed Richards, the Jessica Alba-version of Sue Storm, the Michael B. Jordan-version of Johnny Storm, and Michael Chiklis-version of Ben Grimm, though The Thing is the 2015 version.
The other heroes are from the live-action movies and TV series, so you can just go from there.
And yes, I will be using heroes from alternate dimensions like the CW for this story too. Some, not all of them.
