The figure that dominated Tetra's mind and reduced her to just obeying them was from the distant past.
Having nearly taken control of the kingdom just like they had planned everything was working out well enough until the goddesses got in the way and flooded the lands creating the Great Sea.
Managing to seal them away under it along with the past. Though over time they had managed to weaken the forces that were working against them.
Having taken out the powers that were behind the weapon that could spell their doom. It was there that they had managed to learn something in that they did not seem to be caught during this time as they were clearing act against the will of the Goddesses but they were sicking their champion on them to stop him.
It was here that they might have figured out that the acting was the trigger as the last time nothing happen as a result of something on their part that prevent the champion from arising to stop. So the goddesses had to get their hands dirty in cleaning up the mess that one of their own made themselves.
Holding back from revealing themselves out of the shadows. They managed to learn many things as well as a possible loophole to prevent another hero from rising against them.
The goddesses would not act if he became too powerful on his own but if he remained in the shadow like he was doing then that would be a different story. He was not going to after girls that looked like Zelda on the off chance that it would lead to another Link appearing this time around.
Don't give him a reason to appear and he never will. After all, there was no one appearing to stop him from weakening the master sword because he was doing it indirectly through a proxy that was not empowered by him.
This leads to what he decided on and that being he was going to use an ancient method he had come across to turn people into weapons themselves so that he could influence others to take over things themselves.
The world would not be endangered by his action but by the actions of its own people doing this themselves. They would be the problem thus they would be considered the answer. Not a champion to save them from evil as one of their own would be the evil.
The first successful transformation turned out to be a dud in the end. Sure the girl was turned into a weapon and her soul seem to have been successfully turned into a spirit that resided in the blade now.
She was not that powerful as she need to be more powerful if her owner was going to cause any real powers for the world.
That was when he realized that he was thinking too big too fast. Takes his time and slowly builds up his forces from the shadows.
A way to make it so that there would be no chance for a hero to appear and even if they did it would already be too late for them to do anything on their own.
The weapon was left to be discovered by someone that would be influenced not by him but by the sword spirit themselves. Given the orders to go about corruption their owner over time.
They would go about using the knowledge that they were lured to discover to uncover the process of making them more like them. First, they would take over the underworld itself. The dark side of the world would devour itself on its own through this conflict.
Flooding the Great Sea with these spirit weapons as they would be later called. Of course, the original was fought over at first seeing they were considered the original and only one at first. Thus the strongest of their kind because they were the only ones of their kind after all.
As time passed however newer more powerful ones were created and they were eventually tossed to the side and even forgotten as the original ones in the first place. Their place in history was cemented but their continued existence would be regulated to just a common weapon that was just barely above average.
The myth of them as the original overshadows the reality that they were just the first successful ones thus that is why they were the most powerful as of course they would be. When there is only one then that one is the most powerful as a result.
Loss at sea during a battle where her current owner loses her through them being disarmed and her being flung overboard into the sea, sinking into the depths.
Where she would remain for ages as time passed and people no longer depended on a hero to save them. They went about saving themselves as he might have been right about preventing a champion from appearing with his plan.
The flaw in his plan was that he might have stopped one person from being able to defeat him but he was not prepared for an army of them. If there were people that could power the master sword thus giving it the power to kill him.
They had the power to do so if given the right scenario and even the proper means. The spirit weapons that he had created flooded the Great Sea and took over those that used to want them to conquer the world so that he could control from the shadow. When it was already too late revealed himself as the world's new ruler.
It worked though what he did not expect was for there to be those that could resist the control outright or even that some spirit weapons would turn on him. He might have killed the Sages but they did belong to families. Thus the power of the sages ran in their family which allowed them to wield through or as a spirit weapon to some degree.
It was there that they managed to kill him as a result of the dog piling him as surely one of them could not do it. But an army of them was capable of doing it wielding weapons and/or power that was capable of killing him.
It just took way more than say a single blow to the head to finish him off in the end. Leaving the world to be saved and those that did it being the saviors of the world. Along with all influence he had on the spirit weapons vanished without a trace.
Creating a new world order where spirit weapon users were the heroes of the world and would be the ones that fought against evils and injustice that arose. Those they were also something both of those things as corrupted and evil people got a hold of or maybe the weapon themselves were not good in the first place
Tetra remained at the bottom of the sea until fished out one day and eventually ended up in a bargain bin at a weapon store in a rural town somewhere
