I started to feel uncomfortable and my nerves are raving up the speed. Then I heard a strange animal cry. This doesn't feel good. Whatever it was, it's not good. I decided to ignore it. What I didn't know is that that animal cry is more of a human yell.

I kept walking and kept both my eyes and ears open. Then I heard a gunshot that made me gasp. This could mean one thing, poachers! I remember my parents dealing with them before. They dealt with a poacher couple when they helped their young friend named Eliza Thornberry save a herd of elephants. That was a true story.

Good thing I have my father's dagger. I would use it for self defense. Then I came face to face with two orphans. They're animals. First I came across an orphan baboon who lost her mother from a leopard. Yes the baboon is a girl. I named her Papaya and she liked that name. Then I came across a female orphan gorilla. She lost her parents from the same leopard. I named her Luna and she too liked her name.

Not to long after I found my animal friends, we heard music. I said to Luna, "I wonder where is it coming from. Let's go find out." Papaya and Luna both thought it's a good idea. We followed the sound. I said, "Whether there's music, there's native people." I hope so. We got closer and we saw stuff that is made like a camp.

I then said, "It's not people, it's gorillas like Luna with an elephant. What is going on?" Luna and Papaya stayed by my side as we looked around. Luna communicated with me by sign language. My parents taught me sign language. She told me that it's strange to see a fine mess.

Then some gorillas and young woman took notice of me. I kept saying no a few times. The woman was about to say something to me, but I said, "I don't trust you!" This confused her. Then I heard a snort. I got my eyes wide, I saw a silverback gorilla.

From what Papaya, Luna and I can tell, that gorilla doesn't look too happy. Then he took notice of me. I gasped quietly and didn't make a move. I just stared. The gorilla then said, "You shouldn't be here. Get out of here now!"

I got confused and asked, "What?" The gorilla then said, "There will be more of you coming. Leave before you get discovered." I then saw some more gorillas and they just looked at me. The silver back gorilla pushed me and said, "Get outta here! You got to get to the far side of the jungle. Go! Meet in the higher parts." I ran as fast as I can with Papaya and Luna following me.

I didn't understand. I asked, "What's up with him?" We ran to the far side away from the camp. By the time we got to the higher parts, the sun was about to set. Then I heard a voice that said, "Hey, it's about time you showed up. Our leader was wondering if you would ever made it." I got my eyes wide while I held onto Luna.

I then said, "Talking gorillas." The one that spoke was a female. She then asked, "Who are you?" I didn't want to sound rude, so I said, "Well I'm Darla, who are you? What's going on?" The gorilla then said, "Hey wait, one question at a time Darla. I'm Terk and you'll find out what's going on."

I nodded my head. I then asked her, "Um by any chance, you wouldn't happen to know a man who is raised by apes, would you?" Terk looked at me like I have asked her a tough question and she answered, "Well I do."

Then I heard the silver back gorilla spoke, "Everyone, we will avoid the strangers. Do not let them see you, and do not seek them out." It would be best for Papaya and Luna to do that. Terk took notice of both Papaya and Luna. She asked me about them and I told her how they came to me.

Terk got her eyes wide when I mentioned a leopard. I nodded my head saying it's true. Then I heard the silver back gorilla saying, "Protect this family and stay away from them. Except for that girl and the orphaned gorilla and baboon with her."

I got my eyes wide when he mentioned me, Papaya and Luna. I took a few deep breaths and tried to calm down. Terk noticed the trouble I was in. She said, "Hey Darla, it's ok." I nodded my head and walked away.

I better find a place to sleep for the night.
