Butterflies and Boyfriends
The Alphas of Jace Herondale
If Simon had to pinpoint one specific moment when everything had started to shift, it'd have been that date Simon and Maia had gone onto where they had run into Clary and Jace. Retrospectively, Simon should not have been as surprised to run into them as he had been. After all, Jace had called him that morning, asking for a mundie restaurant, and Simon had recommended it.
Clary and Jace had been doing some sibling bonding that evening and figured why not join Simon and Maia. It could have been a nice, normal evening. Just Simon, his girlfriend, his ex-girlfriend and his ex-girlfriend's brother-not-brother on whom Simon may or may not have a crush. Completely normal day in the life of Simon Lewis.
And then Jace said something, something that he shouldn't know if he wasn't intimately familiar with Maia's body. About her butterfly tattoo. It left Simon slightly stunned, because so far, Maia had done her best to antagonize Jace or poke fun at him. Not exactly where he would have suspected a one-night-stand, really. And talking to Maia afterward was only slightly awkward, because Simon put his foot in his mouth – he hadn't meant for it to sound like Simon was judging her for something that had happened before they got together, after all he had his own dating history.
And then Simon said it, without even thinking it through. "Pretty much everyone's slept with Jace at this point. It's only a matter of time before I sleep with him myself, I guess."
Maia raised an eyebrow at that but didn't comment otherwise. Yet it was now out. He'd said it, put it into words. That he expected to sleep with Jace at one point. And there was no putting the genie back into the bottle. Now that he'd said it, he just... couldn't shake it.
Yes, he had a crush on Jace and he was self-aware enough to know that he had a crush on the stunning, snarky blonde omega. Though that last part only came into play later. Because being alpha or omega was something that came with being part of the Shadow World. When Simon had first met Jace, Simon had been a mundie. Unaffected by the omega-side of Jace. Just affected by how gorgeous and how snarky the blonde was. The snark, that had rubbed Simon the wrong way at times. Made him feel mocked, before he realized this was just... what Jace was like.
After Simon became a vampire, and an alpha, though? Jace's scent left his head spinning. Like honey, strawberries and roses. It took Simon to adjust to being a vampire and also to being an alpha. His senses were so much sharper and things, and people, had so many scents and impressions.
He'd dated Maureen for a hot second, because she was normal, she was... what he knew. It had been his attempt to cling onto his mundie life. And then there'd been Clary, for however shortly that had lasted, it had also been glorious. It had also been his first time dating an omega.
Right now though, Simon was dating Maia, a fellow alpha. She also, she understood. What it felt like to be forced into this life. They had grown closer, became such good friends, and then became more. Simon was happy, he truly was, he liked Maia a lot, thought he could love her before too long. There was just also the matter of his growing feelings for Jace.

"He's the bratty sub type, you know," Maia's voice was a whisper, a teasing note to her words.
"I hate you, Roberts," Simon groaned and rolled over, grabbing the pillow to cover his ears.
"You do not," Maia's fingers wandered down Simon's spine, also teasing.
The worst part about putting it to words was that he had put it into words in front of Maia. And now his girlfriend didn't miss an opportunity to tease him about his crush on Jace. Tease him with what she had experienced with him. So... rude. Simon made a miserable little noise. Only after another moment did he roll over once more, facing Maia again.
"It's mean to dangle a delicious steak in front of someone and not let them eat it, you know."
Maia raised one eyebrow at him. "You comparing Goldilocks to a steak now, mh?"
"Well I mean he did taste delicious..." Simon trailed off before blushing. "Not like that."
"Well," Maia laughed, hiding her face in Simon's neck. "Also like that, actually."
A miserable noise escaped Simon. He rested his hands on the curves of Maia's waist.
"And nobody said you can't have him," Maia trailed soft kisses along Simon's shoulder. "He's single, isn't he? I'm not teasing you about him to leave you high and dry. He was... good. I wouldn't mind another go with him either. We could invite him into our bed."
Simon grunted in disbelief. "It's that easy, huh?"
"Not everything has to be complicated, Si," Maia tilted her head amused before pecking him on the lips. "If you like someone, you could just tell them and see how it goes. You're in a relationship with me. So just... talk to me. About what you want. Okay?"
Heaving a sigh, Simon ran his fingers through his hair. "I mean, yeah I would like that... But wouldn't that make things awkward? I'm a serial relationshiper, not a serial one-night-stander."
"Neither of those are words."
"You know what I mean," Simon narrowed his eyes at her. "Things will be awkward, won't they?"
"Only if you make them awkward, Simon," Maia rolled her eyes. "I slept with him and it wasn't awkward afterward. You and Clary had a relationship and you went back to being friends."
"Right, right..." Simon licked his lips, looking unsure. "Okay? Maybe? We could try?"

They were at the Hunter's Moon, Simon had just finished a set and Maia was working behind the bar. And then there was Jace, sitting at the bar, drinking. Having listened to Simon's set. Maia knew he listened to Simon, even if he pretended not to. There was no reason for him to come specifically whenever Simon played. The way he looked at Simon, with practical heart-eyes. Maia had noticed.
"He—ey," Simon sounded nervous as he sat down next to Jace. "You here alone?"
Jace shrugged a little. "I wanted a drink. This happened to be close by."
"Sure," Maia snorted beneath her breath.
Jace turned to glare at her, but he was wise enough not to argue, because Maia knew this wasn't close to the route. She'd learned that from Isabelle not long ago, that their usual patrol was not anywhere near the Hunter's Moon. Yet Jace made his way here.
"Are you still entertaining your... book-club?" Maia asked after a moment. "Or are you having more... private reading sessions by now, blondie?"
"Not much... reading time these days," Jace shrugged, eyebrows drawn together.
Maia leaned over the bar and reached out a hand to rest on Jace's, running her thumb over his wrist. She got to see the way his pupils widened, how he caught his lower lip between his teeth. Far as tempting omegas went, she'd never been that tempted.
"How about you come to Simon and my place?" Maia smiled teasingly. "We read a lot."
Simon's ears were aflame, which was adorable. But Maia could also smell the spike of want in Simon's scent. Simon's focus was on Jace, waiting with baited breath for Jace's answer. Jace looked surprised, eyes wandering from Maia to Simon and back. And there it was, that cocky little grin of his. So sure of himself. Flirty Jace was incredibly tempting.
"Sure. We could have a... reading session... If the nerd's up for it."
"The nerd," Simon glared. "Reads a lot, you know."
"Oh yeah?" Jace grinned and turned toward him, resting a hand on Simon's thigh. "I didn't know the two of us were... reading the same kind of... books."
"Yeah well, I'm more well-read than you assume," Simon's glare turned into a challenge.

Jace's whole body was buzzing with excitement and arousal as he found himself sandwiched between Maia and Simon. Maia kissing him and opening his pants to push them down, while Simon was groping Jace's ass quite greedily. Simon's lips were dragging over Jace's bare shoulders – when had Jace lost his shirt? Maia's arms wrapped around Jace's waist and she gave his ass a tight squeeze too, before pulling his cheeks apart. He wrapped one leg around her waist nearly on autopilot, his arms wrapped around her neck for support. Simon's hands on his waist steadied him.
"Bed," ordered Maia, knuckles deep inside Jace, opening him up. "Not doing this while standing."
Even as they made their way to the bedroom, Maia kept scissoring Jace, feeling the omega's slick coating her fingers, conveying his eagerness. The apartment already smelt like a mix of their arousal. Once on the bed, Jace was laying on his side, the alphas on either side of him, kissing him.
"You first, Si," Maia pulled Jace's cheeks apart in invitation. "And then I'll join."
Jace looked up at her with dark eyes, panting softly. Mh, Maia knew exactly what he liked. It was why he had been slightly disappointed when Maia started dating Simon, because he thought they could have something. Turning his head, Jace looked at the vampire behind himself, holding Simon's eyes as Simon pushed into him. Well, maybe Jace could have even more fun.
Jace gasped softly, arching his back. "Bigger than I expected."
"And he knows how to use it too," Maia teased, before sealing Jace's lips with her own.
Simon showed that, as he started slipping in and out, hitting just the right spot on his way. Jace's own cock jerked as he got fucked hard by the alpha behind him. Until Maia grabbed his legs to lift so she could join her boyfriend inside their eager omega. She slipped a finger in alongside Simon's dick, careful as she pulled and then pushed her own alpha-cock in. A cute, needy noise escaped Jace at being stretched that far, blunt nails digging into Maia's shoulders.
"Hush," Maia kissed him softly on the lips, Simon peppering his shoulders and neck with kisses.
Simon's hands wandered up and down Jace's chest, tracing abs and teasing his nipples. Amazed at being allowed to touch, even as the both of them fucked into Jace. Jace was the first to come and just as the two alphas got closer to their orgasms, both pulled out a little, grasping their dicks by the base. Double knotting was less fun. Though when they came down from it, both snuggled up to Jace, kissing his face all over. The blonde looked pleased and Maia could get used to the view. To both Jace and Simon curled together like that in her bed.
~*~ The End ~*~
Author's note: Can't believe I haven't written this ship yet! It's about damn time. And I always thought that the awkward double date would be a perfect jumping off point for them ;D
