A/N: Sesshomaru's Karma has begun.

Sesshomaru woke up in a panic. He was dizzy and his vision wouldn't focus. So, he did breathing exercises. Although it helped temporarily, he still had dizzy spells throughout the day.

"You hurt mate!"

Sesshomaru roars,. He felt a pain he had never experienced before.

Heartbreak… pain…

He now acknowledges what he put his mate through. S o, this is what she felt. I feel anxious. He looks down at his phone, hoping for a text or a call. His anxiety was getting the best of him. My chest hurts. I am in pain.

He barely could speak through his labored breathing. "Why is this happening?"

He falls to the ground and coughs up blood. "Jaken!"

Jaken heard his lord's call and came immediately. "Oh no, lord Sesshomaru. What is happening?"

Sesshomaru tries to get back up, but falls back to the ground. "Call father immediately!"

Jaken scurries to Sesshomaru's desk and dials the Inu No Taisho number. "Lord Toga, we need help. Lord Sesshomaru is in trouble!"

Toga made it to Sesshomaru's estate in a flash. He saw his almost lifeless son in the worst state he has ever seen him in.

"What has happened?" The great lord said to himself. The thought of the only person who could fix this. "I need the Miko, Tsubaki!" he glared at the imp. "Go now!"

Toga took Sesshomaru to his chambers and requested for Sesshomaru's handmaids to gather towels and cool water.

Toga looked over his son's body with a look of worry. "How did you get like this, my son?"

He heard his son grunt in pain and then murmured, "Rin… please… don't… go. Ugh."

"Oh Sesshomaru, has it come to this?" Just when he thinks this, Tsubaki rushes in.

"My lord, you have summoned me." She looks at Sesshomaru. "Is the young Lord in some kind of tro-." She stopped her statement and nodded. "I know what this is." She asks for Toga to step back so she could push her spiritual power into Sesshomaru to balance the chaos stirring inside him.

Sesshomaru's body trembled as Tsubaki tried to calm his spirit. His head tossed and turned in every direction. He felt his body spasm, taking his breath away. He grunted out, "Rin, please! Argh! Stay!"

"I assume that is his mate he is calling out for?"

"Yes," Toga answers.

Tsubaki sees the red string connecting Sesshomaru to Rin. "He has resisted his fate and now the red string of fate is on its last thread… it's thinning."

"Does he have time to make it right?" Toga says in worry.

Sesshomaru's body arches in the air and then lays flat back on the bed. Tsubaki ceases her power. "This is only temporary, but it will buy him enough time." She turns to Toga. "Listen to me carefully, my lord. Lord Sesshomaru has changed the fate of him and his mate. He is going through not only heartbreak, but the ties severing." She glances over at Sesshomaru's unconscious body. "This Rin he has called out." She turns back to Toga. "This will not affect her because he understood what he needed to do, but did not make the necessary moves to make her his official mate."

"You say, the thread is thinning, so that means they are still connected, right?"

Tsubaki nodded, "Yes, but, if he doesn't handle the situation delicately… they will no longer be tied anymore."

"Let me talk some sense into him."

Tsubaki nodded. "There is one more thing I need you to inform you about."

"Speak."

"You have a book in your possession that speaks of these taboos?"

"Yes."

"Have you ever looked into it?"

"No, because I never went against fate."

"Unfortunately, your son has, and it is time to put it to use. If he does not make things right with his mate… they are done. He will only heal fully once karma makes their decision."

"Understood."

Tsubaki bows and takes her leave.

Toga sits beside his son. The handmaids come in. He dismisses them. He dips the cloth into the basin of water. He taps the cloth around Sesshomaru's face. "My son, make this right."

Sesshomaru wakes up. His body ached. He just went through the most traumatic experience in his lifetime. He tries to get up.

"Stay down, Sesshomaru."

Sesshomaru listens to the familiar voice. "Father."

"Rest for now until your body heals."

Sesshomaru lays back down and side-eyes his father. "You should just say it."

"Tell me everything."

Sesshomaru tells his father he never intended to make Rin his mate, even though he went through much pain, resisting. "I ignored it all because I did not want a human woman as my mate." He looks down at his body. "Look at me, pathetic."

"You still have some time… don't court your mate as you have been; do it differently. You have to. It is vital now."

"I know, father, I should have listened to you."

A couple days later, Sesshomaru steps out of the backseat of a tinted vehicle… no disguise. He stares up at the human woman's apartment. The human woman he fell in love with and hurt to the core.

He could no longer deny what he felt for her no longer, but was he too late?
