Author's Notes: Hello everyone, welcome to the fourth installment in an ongoing series The Lost World of Remnant. I'm certain you all clicked here based on the description, and I won't waste anyone's time before you can jump into this little prologue. But allow me to give a quick rundown as to what this series will be. This will an entire retelling of the hit animated web series by Rooster Teeth, RWBY. However, it appears that your colorful cast of character are going to be interacting with some...interesting, characters to say the least. A mixture of EarthBound and RWBY, two very awesome series that I hold dear to my heart. So, you might as well, jump into it.
Oh, and don't worry about that whole "Fourth Installment." you won't need to have read any of the other stories in this series, everything you need to know about my character's up to now will be revealed in this chapter (but if you want some context, you can simply check out the second half of the Epilogue for my third installment called Black Dawn). With other things being brought back up only if I find them to be relevant for character development later in the story.
So, without further ado, let's jump into this story, and I'll see you all, at the end.
Chapter 1: New Adventure begins
He looked around curiously as he was waiting in the grand hall. A large statue of the green-haired goddess Palutena stood, he smirked to himself at what she must've thought about this grim situation. However, even if she, and the other fools decided against it, he'd just overrule them. If she was anything like Giygas, it was of the utmost priority that they deal with her at once.
He looked in a mirror, he hadn't bothered to change his look back since Byleth's world. Not that he would, the Silver eye he had gotten from the Nightmare fiasco thanks to her...damn Orcus Staff, what piece of shit that had been. One of their own had fallen, that was the last straw.
Sarah and Erick would never tell him, but he quite suspected that his new look added to an intimidation power. Being Giygas' son was one thing, but he still looked like he was fifteen. His blonde hair was short, except for where it extended to cover his silver eye. Leaving only his right blue eye exposed. Although he updated his clothing, now wearing a blue cloak with a hood on top, black made up his attire below, even down to his tennis shoes, his skin was slightly tanned, but that didn't matter anyway.
"Zoom?! Father Moon?" He smiled down at a Mr. Saturn, a small, adorable alien creature that was basically a fat horseshoe with a green bow in it's one strand of hair and whiskers around it's large nose. His and Sarah's...adopted child if you could call him that.
"Hello Astro." he said calmly.
"Just got back? Zoom? Hee Ho, Where you go?!"
"Sarah, Erick, Myself, and Sapphire are going away." Moon replied. "We're going to an unexplored world, with dangers we do not know. We've got to end this."
Astro's little feet made their tiny fart sounds as he stepped around. "Why you no rest? Honk!"
"One day Astro…" Moon promised, "Sarah and I will be back."
"Zoom? Promised last time!"
"Astro...please don't make me feel bad about this. But it's my responsibility to end Giygas and his reign of cronies. She is the last one."
"Moon?" A satisfied smile emerged on his face as he turned towards his friends, two boys and one girl.
Sarah Wolfe, Sarah was his...wife, and Giygas' counter to Paula Polestar she wore a purple dress and had a blue ribbon tied into her golden hair that shone in the sunlight. She wore pink sneakers and was basically the light and mother of the group. Like him and Erick, she too was Giygas' child.
Erick Andonuts, the more logical thinker and the resident genius, Giygas' counter to Jeff Andonuts. Though Moon was already pretty reasonable and smart. Erick was there to help keep him check. Erick's somewhat messy black hair covered his head, and his hazel-brown eyes were covered by glasses. He wore a green school-like suit, from where he attended winters with Jeff.
Lastly, Sapphire von Clypeus. While he wasn't a child of Giygas like the three of them, he was still a good friend Moon made when he was trapped in Byleth's world. Deciding to come back with him after helping Edelgard conquer Fódlan. Though he had been aged down as a result of timeline mishaps coming back with Moon, he wanted to help him, especially after Dyson died. He had blue hair and eyes in the color of his name, and he carried his special Hero's Relic, Stalwart-Terra Cleaver (though, the axe looked nothing like a cleaver).
That was the team, a real MESS if you had to say? Three soul bound children of the embodiment of evil, and one friendly deserter from the Gladio Cluster.
Thankfully, with the help of Ness and Lucas. The Super Smash Brother's government that fathered the Multiverse was standing strong, with him at the top. After some revisions and negotiations, the council had been reformed, although strictly speaking, it had no power.
"Are they ready?" Moon asked, boredly. "I'm getting sick of waiting around."
"They...they're ready." Sarah said, her voice had a nervous and anxious feeling in it. "Are...are you really sure you want to go now?! You...you just got back…"
"We don't have a choice." Erick replied, before Moon could say anything. "If we don't figure out what's going on, who knows how much could happen."
Sarah picked up Astro as the four of them walked into the council hall. Every Cluster comprises multiple universes to house each member's title series containing their most prominent member, the...mascot character, if you would.
Mario for Basidiomycota
Link for Tribus
Kirby for A.O.N.
So on and so forth. The only exceptions were for Byleth, Lucas, both of whom were left on as a result of tension. Also, Mewtwo, being the only Pokemon who could speak of course.
At the far edge of the table, Palutena glared at the four of them, unsurprising to say the least. She never really liked being paraded around by them since Moon overthrew her.
"For the last time, the answer is no." the Goddess said flatly. "I am not opening up the cluster connection to Remnant."
"I frankly don't give a damn what you think is the right course of action, ma'am." Moon sneered at her enraged face. "We know that Salem is a high ranking force in Giygas' old army. Making her a threat to the Multiverse as a whole."
"We don't know who this person is, we do not know what she is capable of, we do not have any relevant information that could help us here." Palutena replied.
"All the more reason WHY we should probably step in and do something." Erick pointed out, like Moon, the genius had a tired and bored voice. "She could be at her weakest right now. For all we know, she could have an army right there, hell she could've already won and is plotting her move against us."
"Then why open the connection between our worlds in that event?" Cloud Strife seemed mildly irritated at the thought of having to deal with more people, as per the normal. "If this woman can't get out, why give her the ability to LET her out?"
"With the luck we seem to have, I guarantee you that she already knows a way out." Ness spoke up. "And, realistically, it's not like we have a choice. You know they'll just go behind our backs and do it anyway."
"What exactly do you even plan to DO?!" Snake grunted. "You don't even know the names of anyone. Let's not forget, we can't just go around ASKING people about Salem."
"We know one, someone who goes by the name of Ozpin, he was on the target list by the Church of Seiros. If anything, the name should be enough to search for a basis. If he's dead, maybe he was the leader of a resistance."
"Or he could be an ally that they're suspicious of. I'd know a thing or two about that…" Akira chimed in. "Either way, if she's like Giygas, then there's nothing we can do. She'll be just as big a threat as the Three of them would be without Sapphire. Are we really going to ignore this problem until it's too late?"
Murmurs of agreement from around the table, stemming from Minecraft Steve to Shulk.
"And what if she's waiting for you to come to spring a trap?!" Palutena fired back, her glare at the four of them intensifying. "Have you ever stopped to consider that?!"
"Ma'am…" Sapphire said smugly, making the goddess' glare even harsher. "With all due respect, we're trying to make a proposal in a situation that can keep you informed as we explore. Even if the four of us were to fall in this world, we'd probably weaken whatever army Salem may have to finish us off from the beginning. She can't exactly get far from there, you can pull a reversal and spring an army on her the second she exits herself."
"He makes a good point." Lucas spoke up. "What's stopping us from just camping the only exit out of her world and stopping her the second she exits? In the event Moon, Sarah, Erick, and Sapphire were to fall of course."
Palutena bit down on her bottom lip as the furrowed frowns of most of the council looked at her.
"Alright…I conceded." the goddess muttered. "However, I want you all to be cautious. No...screwing around with people there, our existence is to remain a secret, trust only those in your circle, no one else. In addition, I'm going to demand periodic updates."
Moon looked at his friends, all of whom nodded in agreement. "Deal," he muttered. "Can we hurry this up?"
Palutena sighed as she waved her golden staff around, summoning a large map, showing each cluster that made up the Super Smash Brothers series.
One world at the very bottom grew in size as one line of light streamed off from the Imperium Cluster, connecting it.
"The Remnant Cluster." Palutena said. "It's now open and connected to our world, travel now, and don't screw around."
Moon, along with Sarah, Erick, and Sapphire put their hands together on the Demonrift, a black and red striped book.
"Are we ready?" he asked.
"Better now than never." Erick replied.
"Let's do this." Sapphire firmly said.
"We're always by your side Moon. Always." Sarah's sweet tone finished.
The four of them then vanished from the council room in Palutena's temple in a flash of orange light.
"Good luck Moon…" Paula whispered so only Ness could hear. "Finish this once and for all."
Moon grunted as he fell onto the cold earth of somewhere, the bright blue light hadn't helped them at all trying to find a landing.
"Thanks goddess." he grunted. As he moved to try and get up, he felt a large thud hit his back, followed immediately by two more thuds and a female gasp from Sarah.
"Well that sucked." Erick grunted, being the third person in the pile. "She could've at least warned us that we'd be in the damn sky when her light spat us out."
"I haven't felt this much pain since the time Bernadetta hit me over the head with a burning frying pan when I tried to help her cook." Sapphire's hot breath blasted on Moon's left ear.
"COULD YOU GET OFF ME?!" Moon shouted.
"We'd love too," Erick muttered. "Unfortunately, your wife is sitting on top of ALL of us."
"Guys…you may want to look at this…" Sarah's voice was a bit nervous. She jumped off the boy's pile, allowing all of them to force themselves upwards.
"Anyone need healing?" Moon grunted. "I can Lifeup if we do."
"Nope, we're all goo-HOLY SHIT?!"
If you could even say anything, looking up in the sky, there was a moon that appeared to have half of it blown apart with stars all over the damn place. In addition, they were now in a forest of somesort full of bloody red colored trees.
"No decency to land us in civilization?!" Sapphire groaned. "Didn't realize we'd have to find our way around!"
"No use in complaining." Sarah said softly. "Use that axe of yours to get us firewood."
"Everyone still has their weapons right?" Moon asked, feeling the blade of his Sapphire bladed, emerald hilted sword of darkness called Saphria. "It might be best to hold off Sarah and I for using PSI Powers for the time being. However, seeing as how there's no one around..."
Sarah nodded as she pulled out a golden frying pan with a blue star in the center, called Freya. Erick pulled out a laser gun who's nob at the top was made to be a model of Earth, called Gaia.
"Good...I'm going to shoot one alpha PK Flash as a flare, this forest could be crawling with god only knows what. Be alert for anything." When his friends nodded in agreement, he concentrated his focus on using his powers, then, blasted up a flash of bright green light, shining all through the area.
From atop Beacon Academy Tower in the Kingdom of Vale. Professor Ozpin stood in his office, looking down on the Forever Fall Forest, being illuminated by a broken moon from outer space. It was just about sunset as of now, most of the students would be returning from classes and what not. Nothing too eventful happened today he figured.
He took a sip from his coffee mug, wondering about Qrow, he hadn't heard from him in quite a while. Not that he was particularly worried. Qrow was great at his job regardless.
Out of nowhere, he watched as a bright blue beacon of light erupted from the center of the forest. Hadn't seen something like that before in his existence. No doubt whatever it was had something to do with Grimm. Those things were getting worse as the days went by.
"Well, it's a Huntsmans and huntress' duty to protect the people from Grimm." he said, sighing to himself. "It should only be a minor threat, nothing too crazy I'd hope."
Flicking his metallic cane around he turned and stepped back towards his desk. Looking down at a tablet message from General Ironwood from Atlas.
Are we still hosting the tournament? If so, I'll be bringing my military. We need to be careful about her. Especially after what happened with Autumn
"Oh James." he sighed. "You shouldn't be so uptight."
As if Ironwood was there in the room, the tablet dinged again, showing a new message.
Do you honestly think an army of teenagers can win a war?
He knew Ironwood trusted his judgement for the most part, but that didn't make it any less concerning. However, now was not the time to worry about that, where there was an unexplainable source of energy and light, there was most likely Grimm to follow after.
Just to be safe, he took a look around on the camera's, however, it seemed as though a technical disturbance had taken place from something. However, there was some footage.
He heard a loud blast from somewhere and turned to see a bright blast of green light erupt from the area where blue light and signaled down. Seeing the trees wave back and forth in the wind at a rapid pace. Well, now it was worth investigating.
Pressing a button on his desk, he turned on an intercom to his assistant. Always at the ready incase something happened, thank the stars for that.
"Glynda, could you please send team RWBY and JNPR to my office?" he asked calmly. "I've got a little task for them to do.."
He pushed himself back on his chair and looked back out as the Multi-colored light faded. "I wonder if this has something to do with her."
That's all for this short but sweet introductory chapter. I hope you all enjoyed it. Next chapter, Teams RWBY, JNPR, and Professor Ozpin will have their interactions with my perfectly named Team MESS. I don't have a consistent upload schedule for this, as RWBY is a currently ongoing series, so my uploads may take longer as I see how the story plays out, so following this story is going to be more important than ever before.
My history with RWBY is still very...recent. I was introduced to the Series from an author who you may recognize from the PokemonxRWBY crossover; World's Apart. PhoenixClaw2128 is a close author buddy of mine and we've communicated back and forth about jabs and pokes at one another as we both wrote our own EarthBound Stories back in 2019. This all came full circle to when I put one of his OCs, Sapphire, as a Fire Emblem Character in the last story, who's popularity basically demanded he returned for this story.
Despite that, I fell in love with RWBY's world of Remnant, the characters, the story, and everything in between made me a happy person as I watched the series up until it's recent finish for Volume 8. While this story is...far...from getting there, I do want to try and keep this story relevant for a brief stint of time before the story concludes. I may have this story go up to the beginning of Volume 2 before it's uploads become...dragged on. I'm not sure, but I do want to see how RWBY's story continuously plays out, that way I can know what I want to change in later volumes, and set up for in the beginning.
Anyway, I think next chapter will come out sometime next month, so be on the lookout for that. If you have any thoughts, or maybe some suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them.
See you all, next time.
