This story is part of the PercentVerse universe, a series of stories written by many authors. The basic premise is that one day, 30% of humanity suddenly gets turned into Pokémon and the events that would come with that. The original PercentVerse story was 30 Percent by Jackboy0815. I recommend checking it and all other PercentVerse stories out.
Anyway, this is my first time writing something like this so plz be nice. Enjoy! :D

Chapter 1 Traveling Abroad
A completely grey sky, small collections of houses, miniature forests, it seemed like an average day. The key differences I noticed were the warmer morning air, despite the clouds, and the Canadian flag flapping in the wind as we left the airport. This would also be normal, if I weren't a New Zealander...
In Canada? Hold on. Let me rewind a little.
Kia ora. I'm Samuel, or Kiwi online. I'm a male, autistic teen and if you didn't read the last paragraph, I'm from New Zealand. So what am I doing in Canada, literally an ocean away from home? Well, I'm visiting a friend. An internet friend. I actually decided I was gonna travel across the globe, visiting all my internet friends in real life. And I thought what better place to start than Vancouver, home to one of my closest pixel buds, both figuratively and literally, Autumn. They were the first person I messaged and now are the first person I'm meeting face to face! Or, would be. I guess none of that matters now, because today is August the 19th, 2019...
The day shit got real...
Getting up from my seat after fifteen hours on a plane is not fun. It doesn't help when I'm sleep deprived, due to forgetting about my pills in my carry-on. Falling bags and the ocean of people only worsen the experience. Despite all this, I still wear a smile as I think of the prospect of seeing Autumn soon. Half an hour later, I escaped the metal cage of anxiety, found my suitcase and grabbed a bagel before leaving for an Uber. My luggage was incredibly heavy and essentially vomiting out clothing, but together me and the driver managed to heave it in the back with minimal spillage. We hopped in and drove away from the airport, passing a red & white flag, unaware of what was to come.
There seemed to be a lot of traffic coming from the airport but judging by my Uber's face, this must have been the calmer hours. Fiddling with my pounamu (a special, green necklace), I pull my phone out to check the time. It flickers 2-ish in the morning before updating. 7:03AM. I smirk, realising my plane technically landed here before it took off. I love time zones.
The Uber clearly notices my grin. "So where are you from?"
"Oh! New Zealand!"
"Huh... we don't get many from there. I've always wanted to go but never really had the time. What's it like?"
"Quite pleasant. There's heaps of unique wildlife and there's so few people that it's not hard to find a reserve nearby."
"Sounds pretty peaceful." The Uber almost sounds jealous. "Why'd you come here then?"
"I'm visiting a friend!"
"Really? They must be a good friend then!"
"Yeah, they've helped me through some tough times..."
I continue chatting with the Uber, whose name I find out is Steven, until the satnav plays up and sends us down the wrong street. Steven apologizes but I assure him it was fine. We're just turning around when I felt a sharp pain in my head. "Agh!"
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, probably just jet lag catching up to me." I chuckle.
"You sure? I can pull over if you need something."
"I'll be fine. We're only a couple blocks away anyway."
"Okay..." Steven, although doubtful, continues driving.
Looking at the satnav, it was a left, two straights and a right. The top reads 'will arrive in 4 minutes' with the time just above, 7:33.
CRASH! I jolt up to see further down the road a grey car collided with a white one. Then, almost on queue, the pain returns. This time much worse. As I grab my head I feel the aching rapidly spread throughout my body. I let out a short swear or two.
"Hey do you need- WHAT'S HAPPENING TO YOUR HAND!?" Steven slams on the brakes, and we skid up to an intersection. Right hand on my head, I lift my left one up to see it shrinking and turning light blue. Just like my hand, I begin to shrink as well.
"Huh? Wait WHAT?!" It takes me a moment to comprehend what was happening. Unfortunately, the universe doesn't give me that moment as another vehicle collides with Steven's side of the car. It doesn't puncture the door, but it's enough to send me flying into the windscreen and knock Steven out. He collapses onto the steering wheel, honking the horn briefly before the airbag goes off.
I, however, am still very much awake and in immense, insufferable pain. I feel pins stabbing my body all over, while limbs feel like they're being stretched, compressed and bent. It's almost like shattering a bone, except it's every bone in your body. A sharp, piercing strikes the end of my... spine? And I don't even know how to describe what my head feels. All I can really say is it's like a fever, migraine and brain freeze all at the same time. Times a hundred. I don't know what's happening to me and I honestly don't care. I just curl up on the car's dash, practically crying, hoping the torture eventually ends. And then suddenly, it does.
I open my eyes to see a hazy view of car debris everywhere. Steven is motionless, wedged between the airbag and seat. I panic for a second until I hear him slowly breathing. Sighing in relief, I look back out at the chaos. Metal, fire, petrol and pure destruction litter the street.
"...what just happened?..." I ask, not expecting an answer, but hoping for one regardless. It looks like a battle just took place and honestly, whatever did happen probably wasn't far off one. I continue scanning the landscape until BANG! My airbag triggers, launching me up into the air. My head taps the ceiling and I drop to the floor, falling unconscious upon collision with the ground.
