A short time ago, there was a dimension filled with wonderful magic. But then darkness came into power, and the Great Battle began. An army of the undead, led by a powerful warrior swarmed over the land, setting they sights on the human realm and beyond. All seemed hopeless, when a small legion of brave and true wizards came forth. Against insurmountable odds, they battled heroically. They drove the evil back from the edge of the human world.

And then the bravest wizard of them all cast a spell that sent the armies into the Underworld. He sealed darkness inside giants gates for eternity and evil disappeared from the surface world. But with great victory comes great loss. The Human World never knew of the Great Battle or the sacrifices that were made to save them from destruction. Even to this day, they live in peace, totally unaware of what is about to awaken.

A teen girl gasped loudly, falling out of her bed and landed with a loud thud on her carpet floor of her bedroom.

"China!" A woman's voice called out before her bedroom door opened to reveal a young woman, her concern turned to a frown as she leaned on doorframe. "Aw, dreaming of King Author again?" She asked amused.

The teen pushed her long dark hair out of her eyes. "This time it was witches, wizards and fire breathing dragons." She groaned as she pushed herself up onto her knees.

"I got you a job at the Rock Porium inside of Briarwood."

The girl sat up fully awake now. "What?!" She cried. "Why?"

"It's only for the summer." The woman turned and walked out of the room.

China jumped up from the floor to quickly run after her. "Now wait just a minute!" She accidentally rammed and bumped into the woman.

The woman turned to give her a look after being bumped into. "You're five minutes late."

China smiled innocently at her, then it faded. "What if I don't wanna?" She questioned, folding her arms. "I get a job now, and that labels me as China the orphan forever. I don't even know if China's my real name!"

The woman sighs and turns to her. "It's only temporarily."

"Temp or not, I'm not going." China walks further into the living room and sat down. Picking up the throw pillow, she hugged it, looking dejectedly.

Her caseworker walks up to sit next to her. "Is this what happened with adoption day?"

"That happened years ago. I'm 17 now." China hugged the throw pillow tighter. "After 8, I passed cute and nobody wants me around."

"That's not true." Her caseworker argued.

China took a deep shaky breath. "I guess I should go seal my destiny as 'China The Orphan Forever'." Standing up, she set the pillow down before making her way down the hallway.

China looked around herself as she walked through the woods. "Where am I?" She asked as she walked down a path, she thought it was a short cut to town. "And what was that I walked through?" She muttered as she continued through the woods.

"Lost in the woods." She huffed as she continued to walk and came up upon a big tree that had a dragon's entrance. "Whoa." She breathed, staring at it as she felt a trance coming towards it.

Suddenly a figure in a cloak appeared. "Who are you?"

China jumped backwards, startled. "I'm sorry!" She cried as she ran backwards and fell onto her butt. "I-I got lost! I'm sorry!" She crawled backwards. "I'm really sorry."

"Wait a moment." The figure removed its cloak magically to reveal a woman. "China, is that really you?"

China blinked. "What? Y-you know me?"

The woman smiled. "It is you!"

"H-how do you know me?"

"I am Udonna. I knew your father, the Solaris Knight." Udonna smiled. "Child, you've come home at last."

That grabbed China's attention. "Fa-father?" She asked. "You knew my father?"

"I do." Udonna nods. "Daggeron was a dear close friend."

China smiled a little.

Udonna frowned. "My dear, don't you know who you are?"

"Me?" China asked, pointing at herself. "No." She said with a shake of her head. "I'm just a lost teen who has no identity or connection to a past. I have no past."

"Everyone has a past my child." Udonna said gently, guiding China into Rootcore.

"Not me." China shook her head, watching as Udonna walked over to a thick book resting on a podium. "It's not a great past through."

Udonna walked over to her, carrying a wand with a sun as its tip. "You, are a Mystic. Daughter to a wonderful man." She holds out the wand. "You have come home, it is time for you to follow your destiny."

"Destiny?" China asked, eyeing the wand. "What, what destiny?"

"Your destiny as the Gold Mystic Power Ranger."

"Mystic?" The teen asked. "As in, magic?" Her brown eyes met Udonna's.

"Yes." Udonna nods. "Magic."

"Where my parents magic?"

"Your father was a full Mystic, I'm afraid I don't know your mother's side."

China chewed on her lower lip. "That's good enough for me." She decides, taking the offered wand and the tip brightened.

Suddenly an earthquake shook and the two stumbled around. "Earthquake!" She cried.

"This is no earthquake." Udonna said with worry, she rushed up to the giant book as it magically opened, China stumbling over to stand next to her.

"The darkness has been unleashed."

"Darkness?" China asked. "That doesn't sound good."

"It is terrible news." Udonna turns to her when the earthquake stops. "I can show you the ways of magic if you'd like."

"To follow in my father's magically destiny?"

"The Mystic Force was not just your father's destiny, but yours too."

China lifted her wand as she held it tightly, she looked at it. "I'm ready." She looks up at Udonna. "I want to help."

XxXxXxXxXxx

A little while later, China walked out of a tree and fell face first into the grass. Pushing herself up she looked around and jumped when she saw a teen her age working on his motorcycle.

China took a deep breath, before straightening her shoulders. "Help! Somebody help!" She got got the attention of a good size crowd. "Please, I need help, my brother. We were walking near the woods and some creatures grabbed him. I-it's just out of town. The creature took him into the woods." The people around her shook their heads. "Please? She begged. "I need help! Why won't you people help me?"

"I will!" The teen who was working on his bike, calling tossing down a wrench into his toolbox and stood up. "I could use a break." He picks up his jacket and pulls it on, walking over to China.

"Thank you, thank you!" China smiles at him, until she heard an Australian accent.

"Hey." Xander Bly walked over to them, trying to stop them. "I'm uh … I'm Xander. You're new here, aren't you? Probably not aware of all the facts. And there's just one. You go into those woods, you don't come out."

"Heard about it. But she needs help. And no one else in this city seems to give a damn." Nick Russel defended. He turns to China. "Let's go."

She nods. "Thank you!" She grabs his arm with both her hands and starts to drag him away.

"Wait! I'll go with you!"

Vida Rucca called out, making the two stop and turn to her. "Not everyone in this city's a coward."

"I'll go too." Chip Thorn added. "I've always wanted to go on a dangerous quest!" He turns to Vida. "This is a dangerous quest, right?"

"Perilous."

"Sweet!"

Nick nods. "Well, let's go." He said, and the four start off.

XxXxXxXxXxXxXx

At the entrance of the woods, China turns to the three. "Are you sure you want to go in there? It's pretty dangerous."

"You ask a lot of questions for someone whose brother's in danger." Nick comments.

"Hey! I'm just asking, Hard Head! I barely got out of these woods as is!" China glared at him, Nick opened his mouth, when suddenly they hear a car horn honking and they turn to see a truck pulling up with Xander and Maddie.

"Xander! I told you if you ever took my car, I'd rearrange your limbs!" Vida threatened as she marched over to him and snatched her keys away from him.

"You're going into the woods and never returning." Xander reminded her. "As if you're even going to see it."

"He's got a point." Chip said with a nod, earning a glare from Vida.

"You're my sister." Madison said, looking at Vida. "Where you go … I go."

The teens walked into the woods. Making sure the others didn't see her, China turned to walk into a tree and disappeared.

Nick suddenly looked around. "Wait. Where's the girl?"

"10 seconds into the woods and we're already lost!" Chip said with excitement. "Alright!"

XxXxXxXxXx

"Trolls, Goblins, and elves live in the forest too." Chip rattled off names as the five walked down a path. "I've also heard that a witch lives here."

"A witch?" Nick questioned.

"She's hideous, with green skin and a black tongue with yellow drool that slowly drips from the corner of her mouth when she speaks." Chip continued.

"You've been reading too many fairy tales, friend." Nick said. "Guys!" He turns around to face them as he walks backwards. "There's no such thing as witches!" He protested, then saw their freaked out looks. "Oh, ok. So now you're playing with me. Ooh, someone's behind me, I'm so scared. Boo!"

"Someone is behind you!" Vida said, Nick turns to look over his shoulder to see a dark figure coming at them.

"Agh!" He cried, jumping backwards and into the others.

"Anybody wanna run?" Maddie asked.

"Already tried, but my feet won't move." Xander said, suddenly dark and ugly creatures came out from behind trees.

"She brought friends!" Vida cried.

"Watch out!" Maddie cried, and the figure pulled out a wand from the cloak.

"Dispel Aratan!" The figure casts a spell and five brooms came flying towards the group of teens, sweeping them off their feet and flying through the air.

XxXxXxXx

The brooms carried them to a huge tree deep in the woods and dropped them in front of a dragon shaped entrance. "Ok. So new guy, now you know why no one goes into these woods." Xander said, walking up to Nick.

"The name's Nick."

"What is this place?" Vida asked, looking at the tree.

"I call it Rootcore." A woman's voice answered, the teens turns to see the figure approaching them, the teens huddled together and backed away into the entrance as the figure moved towards them.

XxXxXxXxXx

As the door opened, the teens stumbled through as they're still huddled together and they saw they were now in an open spaced room.

"I thought it best you were brought here." The figure spoke from somewhere.

"Hi. I'm Xander." Xander introduced himself and looked around. "It's a real nice place you got here. Its a." He knocks on a table. "Really woody."

Suddenly the figure in the cloak waved her hand and the teens turned to see the brooms magically appeared in their respective places on a wall. "I am the Sorceress Udonna." The figure magically reveals herself as her cloak magically disappeared. "Welcome to my home."

"Wow! This is awesome!" Chip exclaimed.

"When the five of you entered the forest, you stepped into a magical dimension." Udonna told them.

"A parallel dimension outside of Briarwood?" Chip asked. "Do we live in a great city or what?"

"I'd have to say or what." China said as she walked in, wearing a mystical uniform.

"Hey, we were looking for you." Nick said, walking over to her. "You said your brother was lost in the woods."

"So I lied." China replied simply with a shrug. "I have no siblings, and I only did it cause Udonna asked me too."

"A few years ago, there was a Great Battle in our world." Udonna began as she stood behind the large thick book. "Dark magic conquered our realm and was about to enter your dimension when we finally defeated them and sent them back to the Underworld, but at a great cost. The gate was sealed with a powerful spell. However, during the recent earthquake, a crack appeared in the gate and evil has slipped through."

"Remember me?" Xander asked, raising his hand. "Xander? Well, I'm just wondering. What does that have to do with us?"

"It could mean the end for both our worlds." Udonna answered gravely.

"Please." Nick wasn't buying any of this. "None of us are buying this fairy tale."

"This is not a fairy tale." Udonna told him. "What I tell you is what happened."

"Pfft." Nick scuffs. "Guys."

"Hey." Vida turns to him. "Let's hear what she has to say. We can always leave after that."

Udonna walks over to the big thick book that's resting on it's podium. "The Xenotome … the book of the unknown. In it is everything we do not know."

"Cool!" China smiled. "Like the 'Book Of Shadows' in Charmed."

"You like that show too?" Maddie asked, turning to her.

"I did. I stopped watching after season 3." China nods a little as a picture appeared in the book.

"What kind of language is that?" Maddie asked. "I've never seen it before."

"It is the language of the ancients." Udonna smiles at her. "You will soon learn it." She looks down at the page. "It ways that when evil rises again. Six mystical warriors from the human realm will step forward." She looks back at the teens. "You are the those warriors. You are the Power Rangers."

"Oh, nice!" Chip cheers, until Xander ruins the moment.

"Look, excuse me. But there must be some mistake." The Australian said. "How are we going to stop pure evil? Our high school hasn't won a football game in, like, 6 years."

Udonna pulls out a bundle of five wands wrapped in a blanket. "These are your magic wands." She hands them Maddie the blue, Vida, the pink, Xander green, and Chip yellow. "Never." She said as she held the red wand, and walked up to Nick. "Go anywhere with them." She holds the wand out to him.

Nick reluctantly took it, when he did his wand flashed a bright red.

"Udonna, Udonna!" Another woman's voice calls out, the teens turn to see teen their age, rushing in. "Oh!" She straightens up seeing Nick and the others. "Hello. Nice to meet you. Um, excuse me." She turns to Udonna. "Udonna." She whispers in her ear.

Udonna looked worried as she turns to face the teens. "You must stay here until I return." She told them. "China, would you please come accompany me?"

"Sure." China nods, moving to the red head.

Udonna turns back around to face the other teens. "Do not go into the woods by yourselves." With that Udonna snaps her fingers and along with China disappears in a shower of sparks.

XxXxXxXxXx

Inside of a village Udonna and China looked around. "Can't you tell me more about my father?" China asked. "Like, what did he look like?"

"The Rangers are here." Udonna said suddenly, she walked over to the five. "I should've known you wouldn't stay at Rootcore." She walks up to them, when China at her side.

"What happened here?" Maddie asked.

"Woodland Village was destroyed." China answered.

"And tomorrow it will be another villiage." Udonna added. "The Darkness destroys everything within its path until they find what they want."

"What are they looking for?" Chip asked.

"Me." Udonna confessed. "And then they will go after you." She added, spooking them out.

"Hold on just a sec." Nick still tried to argue. "I never agreed to be apart of this."

A villager walks up. "It is them! It is them!" He calls cheerfully. "The protectors are here!"

"Hail, the Mystic Force!" Another villager called out.

"I always wondered what it's like to be worshipped." Xander said with big smile, looking at his friends. "It's not so bad."

Suddenly out of nowhere, a monster appeared in front of them.

"Ok! That's bad!" Xander corrected, pointing at the monster.

"Take out your wands." Udonna instructed.

"Uh, we kinda of left them back at the tree." Chip admitted.

China shook her head. "I have mine." She pulls it out.

"But you are only one." Udonna told her. "And you have only just begun your destiny." She turns back around to face the monster. "You leave me with no choice." She steps forward. "MAGICAL SOURCE, MYSTIC FORCE!" She morphs. "Flurry of snow! White Mystic Ranger!"

"Now that's cool." Vida smiled.

"Yeah!" China smiles, until Nick's voice is heard.

"Uh, guys, we've got company!"

The teens turn to see the same creatures from before.

"Well as I see it. We got two choices." Chip said nervously, while calculating their odds. "We can surrender and be destroyed."

"Or fight?" Maddie asked.

"We fight!" Nick called, just as he started to, Xander stops him.

"No, no, no, no, no. There's a third option." He said with his hand on Nick's shoulder. "Plan Xander." He moves forwards. "I'll just reason with them."

"Who's he fooling?" China asked. "A ziplock bag?"

"Hi. I'm Xander." Xander said as he walked up to the undead warriors. "We're not from around these parts, eh. So, if it's ok with you, we'll just be heading off in another direction."

The warrior kicks Xander in the chest, causing him to fall backward into Nick. "I guess we fight."

"Good idea!" Nick said, yanking Xander up.

The undead warriors shot at the new Mystic Force, causing them to fall to the ground to rush in.

China was thrown into a hay bail and rolled to a stop, blurring Udonna's call.

"Guys! The magic really works!" Chip calls from somewhere nearby. "Just believe!"

Lifting her head, China looks around to see that she's surrounded by undead warriors. "I believe, I believe, I believe in magic!" Suddenly small trains appears around her, flying at the undead warriors, before turning themselves into stars and they shoot out towards the warriors. "Whoa." She breathed. "I did that?"

Xander hurried up to her, he held out a hand for her, once she took it he pulled her up. "Are you ok?" He asked.

"Yeah." She nods. "What about you guys?"

"We're good." Vida smiled with nod.

"Well, well. Very nice." Udonna smiled as she walked up to the group of teens. "You truly are the ones. Are you up to the task? Are you now ready to accept your legacy?"

"Oh, yeah! Bring it on!" Chip cheered.

"I'm in. I kicked some serious evil back there!" Vida agreed.

"This is so unlike me, but I'm … I'm sticking with my sister." Maddie said.

"Someone's got to look after these guys, right?" Xander grinned.

"I came this far, I'm not turning back now." China finished, before all eyes landed on Nick.

"Me?" Nick shook his head as he dusts his jacket off. "No way. I'm out of here."

"But Nick." China started and is cut off.

"Look … the 'I believe in magic' thing didn't work for me."

"Try believing again." Maddie suggested. "Maybe it didn't catch on the first time."

"He is a none believer." Udonna said. "I can do nothing for him. Clare will see you out of the woods safely. Clare!"

"Here I aaaa am!" Clare bleeped, still in sheep form, walking towards them.

"Oh, my dear child." Udonna smiles. "When will you get your spells right? See him safe passage out of the woods."

"Yes Udooona." Clare bleeped.

As soon as Nick and Clare were gone, a purple spell seal suddenly appeared as a warrior rose from it. Udonna and the teens turns and gasps when they see him.

"You may have defeated my Hideaks … but you will not defeat me!" He declared as he drew his sword. "Wolf Attack!" The middle of his shield opened and Udonna and the teens were knocked to the ground. "It is the end for you." He said laughing.
