A/N: I love the story of Din Djarin and Grogu. Also I am writing this because of the force of my inspiration Pedro Pascal and not for monetary gain. I have spoken. This is the way!

PADAWAN

CHAPTER 1

CREEPY

"Mando…!" The beskar helmet moved after the third call. "What's happened?" the scarred man almost shouted.

"I can hear you, Fett." Din blinked away the blackness from his eyes. Realization kicked in and he quickly reached up. "Uh…what?"

"Hey, we did not take off that helmet." Fennec Shand quipped standing behind Boba Fett. "You…uh…." She looked uncomfortable for a moment, averting her eyes. "You fainted."

"What?! I never…" Din stood with Fett's help and his eyes widened as he was hit with a stomach-churning reel. "Dank…!" He fumbled the left side of the helmet and activated an extra dose of oxygen and took a deep breath.

Fett gave the Mandalorian a slight push to straighten him up. "What happened?" he repeated his unanswered question, scarred face confused.

"I'm fine." A few more deep breaths of the bacta laden oxygen he could shake his head without feeling like he would to puke his meal out. Then he froze. "What am I doing here?"

Shand shook her head. "Beats me," the female assassin slid her eyes to Fett who shrugged. "You were salvaging some things from the crater and then you suddenly turned around and began climbing up here."

Din Djarin took a deep breath to calm himself. 'Here' is the top of the 'seeing stone' on Tython, where he placed Grogu on that dome so he could call on the force to find the Jedi…

He sat the boy on the stone to do his 'Jedi thing' and he barely turned away then when he looked back the kid was sitting there with his eyes closed with a tranquil look on his face he had never seen before. For a moment the boy, Grogu, didn't look like Grogu. He knew it made no sense to think that but for the first time Din Djarin saw him as a different being.

What's more he was held back by a strong power that he had never encountered before. Hands held out he tried to push against the forcefield but he was repelled and thrown five meters away. Dank Farrik! That hurt! He groaned before he blacked out.

Maybe we could call him stupid and slow because as soon as Din opened his eyes he went back to challenge that force field and again the same thing happened. Only this time the force was twice as strong and twice as painful. He was lights out at two seconds.

But if there's one redeeming virtue of Din Djarin was that he was determined when he puts his mind to it. He is determined to protect his son at all cost. But while he's at it, why not give the force field a third try? They say three's a charm or something like that. It was a good thing that he wasn't wearing his jetpack or the armorer would be pissed if he even put a ding on his jetpack when he all but himself thrown clear out of the circle and down to the rocky base of the hill.

His muscles were shaking when he got to but he tried to stand in his condition. Well, the kid is still doing his Jedi thing. After sparing the boy a last glance the Mandalorian decided he is much need down at the hill than here.

Later, Din Djarin looked down to the base of the hill where the smoking crater was all that was left of his life.

"What?" Fett moved closer, his head inclined to Din.

"It was beautiful…" Din Djarin murmured as if to himself. "What…?"

Boba Fett looked at the Mandalorian up and down. "You need to pull yourself together, man. Look." The older man leaned closer and grasped the other man's shoulder. "Yeah, this is bad but I will help you get your kid back, okay? My ship and my services are yours until you rescue him. Point me where to go." The older man assured him. "Least I could do for getting back my father's armor."

Din looked at Shand who also nodded. "Thank you."

Shand cleared her throat when the younger man went silent again. "So why did you come up here?"

Din slowly turned to the woman. "Uh…I don't remember,"

"Did something happen here?" She hastily amended, "I mean I saw your kid on that stone when that weird pillar of light turned on…"

"Really? Pillar of light?" Fett gasped. "Why didn't I see it?" he asked as if he was left out of a great experience.

"Uh, I don't know." Shand leaned in a little, hands on hips. "Where were you?"

"Wha….? What do you mean where was I?" Fett shrugged and gestured around. "I was there. He and I had a talk and then those damn troopers came and I had to bust some skulls…"

"You missed it. It was really pretty." Shand poked at Fett's arm and jerked her head meaningfully at Din.

"Pst! Hey!" Fett waved his hand in front of Din's helmet. "Snap out of it!"

"You know? This place gives me the creeps." Shand rubbed her hands on her arms as if she was cold. "I'm going back to the ship."

"Don't you see it?" Din points.

"See what?" Fett looked back at Shand who rolled her eyes and waved a hand as if to say 'whatever' and sure-footedly went down the hill.

"Let's go." The scarred man looked where the younger man is pointing but... "I don't see anything."

"There is."

"Hey, I don't scare easily but Shand's right; this is a creepy place and if you don't move your ass right now I will toss your goddamned helmet down this hill if that's what it takes to get you going!" Fett threw up his hands when Mando walked toward the stone. "What the fu…." Frowning and muttering profanity in every language he knows in the galaxy he began to follow the muddle-headed Mandalorian.

He stopped.

"Fuck."
