Author's note: Hello! normally this fic will contain two chapters, the first one quite soft, the second one quite dark. Don't forget to read the tags, it's VERY important, I know the first chapter doesn't seem that dark but the second one will be much darker. THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE. There isn't really a rape as such BUT I thought I'd put the tag just in case...

I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes, if you see any please let me know. I take all constructive criticism, don't hesitate to tell me if you like it, if you want the next part... In short, a little review! :D

Hermione Granger stood in the middle of a cold corridor in the castle, her red eyes brimming with tears with her lifelong friend, Harry Potter, at her side. The silence was overwhelming, there was not a sound except the girl's painful sobs. Hermione looked down at the floor, she was far too embarrassed to look the young boy in the eye. She had been so stupid to think that the great Harry Potter could be interested in her. She was just a friend, as always...

Harry stroked Hermione's cheek with a gentle hand before speaking up.

- "Hermione, please... I never meant to hurt you... I didn't know what to do anymore..." The boy was embarrassed, he opened and closed his mouth without a single sound coming out. He was trying to comfort Hermione as best he could. He was obviously very sorry to see her like this. Harry gently grabbed Hermione's chin so that she would look at him, but the girl pulled away from his soft touch, her eyes still fixed on the ground, streams running down her rosy cheeks.

He sighed, "Look, I tried to tell you that you were just a friend but you wouldn't listen. I like you a lot Hermione, but not like this."

The girl looked up at him for the first time in many minutes. Her face turned to pure disgust.

- "Tell?! You humiliated me in front of all our friends! You waited for me to run after you for months and never said a word! Tonight, sir decided it was time to put the bookworm in his place, huh? Is that it?!" The girl's voice was becoming increasingly hysterical and her pain echoed through the empty corridors of Hogwarts.

- "Please, calm down..." the boy tried.

- "No! You humiliated me in front of everyone Harry! Why?! Was it necessary to tell me that you weren't interested in my appearance and never would be? That my hobbies were so uninteresting that if you dated me you would die of boredom? Was it necessary to tell me that I was so desperate to hit on my own friends?" The girl was gasping for breath, her chest heaving frantically as the tears rolled down her neck.

Harry tried to hug her but the girl backed away. Her face had turned cold and distant.

-" No. " She said, shaking her head, "No, leave me alone, you've done enough."

The young man stammered a few awkward excuses.

-" I wanted to be more than the bookworm" she said as she looked up, her chin quivering with emotion, "I just... wanted a little of your time..." Her hazel eyes began to water again, "I was wrong." She whispered sadly, a tear rolling down the girl's cheek.

With that, Hermione turned around and ran without pausing for several minutes, slowly making her way through the dark corridors of the castle. She had been walking for quite some time now, five minutes? Ten minutes? Maybe twenty, she hadn't counted... She collapsed against a wall, her throat tightening, and slipped to the floor.

Hermione didn't know what to think. What was wrong with her? Was she so... disgusting? Mclaggen, Krum, Diggory, Dean and now Harry... She had been rejected so many times, but she needed to please so badly... She needed to know that she was beautiful and interesting. Hermione thought about Krum trying to touch her at the ball. She smiled sadly as she remembered that night. She had become attached to Viktor and really thought that he was interested in her romantically. She had been so stupid... The only thing he was interested in was the girl's body and she had learned that the hard way.

FLASHBACK START

Hermione's back hit the stone wall, Krum was crushing the young woman with his full height. "Look Viktor... I'd like us to get to know each other a little better... You understand, I-"

But the young man's hand crushed violently on the girl's mouth. Her first instinct was to grab the young man's hand to get rid of it, but he was much stronger than she was. When she tried to push him away, he crushed his body against hers, preventing Hermione from making any movement. Her heart was pounding, she could hear it ringing in her ears. By Merlin, what trouble was she in...

- "Shhh, don't worry, everything's going to be fine." He punctuated his words by stroking her cheek. "I'm going to take my hand away, but promise me you'll calm down, okay? Don't make me hurt you." He purred. Hermione nodded frantically, she had to get out of this.

The young man gently removed his hand and Hermione, her eyes watering, pleaded him.

- Please Viktor, not like this..." she cried.

Krum frowned and put more weight on the poor girl. She winced, the wall behind her was painful, she was so crushed she felt like she was one with the pile of stones.

- This is what you wanted, isn't it?" spat the young man, "You think I didn't understand your little trick? The know-it-all running after the bad boy from Durmstrang," a wicked smile played at the corner of his lips. "My friends were right," the young man leaned over and kissed Hermione's neck, leaving wet kisses along the girl's throat. She closed her eyes, waiting for the boy's next move, but nothing happened, she just felt Krum's breath run along her ear.

- You're just a frigid bitch. I can have any girl I want, do you really think I'd fall for a stupid girl like you?" These words were only a whisper but they were devastating. The young man abruptly let go of the girl and walked away from her as if disgusted at the thought of her touch.

Hermione was shocked, she never imagined that a boy would speak to her in such a way... She dropped to the ground like a rag doll, her frightened gaze never leaving Krum's face as he towered over her.

The young man snorted disdainfully, "You're not the prettiest Granger, nor the most interesting. I'd advise you to give your ass if you want anyone to take any interest in you."

Hermione didn't know when he had left, in fact, she didn't care. The brute's words echoed through her over and over. "...not the prettiest...", "...frigid bitch...",... She had been left where he had left her, alone in that cold corridor, her eyes wet and her heart empty.

END OF FLASHBACK

Maybe he was right, after all... what could she offer to a boy... to a man... besides her body... but Hermione wanted more, she wanted to be... loved. Yes, she wanted to be desired, but she didn't want to be just a body. She just wanted to be beautiful in the eyes of the man she wanted to please. She didn't want to be just an object that could be thrown away once it had been used too much...

A sudden noise brought her out of her thoughts. And she stood up abruptly, her heart racing as she heard footsteps coming in her direction. What time was it? Where was she? Hermione hadn't even realised that she was in the dungeons and that she was an hour past curfew.

Fear flashed through her body as she saw a light at the end of the dark corridor moving quickly in her direction. The girl began to walk quickly in the opposite direction, her heart pounding as she hoped to reach the stairs before this person saw her.

She barely had time to take a few steps before a strong hand grabbed her arm firmly.- "Well well well... Miss Granger" He said, a smirk on his face " The brains of the golden trio breaking the rules, how surprising... May I ask where you were planning to go at this time of night?"

Hermione's eyes were glued to the floor, she didn't want her teacher to see her like this. Especially not Professor Snape. She had been humiliated enough for the evening, she couldn't take her teacher's sarcasm, not tonight.

The man took a deep breath and glared at her. He increased the pressure on the girl's arm, making her groan in pain.

- "Miss Granger, nothing annoys me more than talking to a wall." He hissed through clenched teeth. "I advise you to quickly give me an explanation, otherwise-"

The man was cut off by the girl who burst into tears. By Merlin, why did he always have to be in this kind of situation. Wasn't it bad enough that he had to deal with stupid kids all day long, now he had to be a psychologist for girls in crisis.

Seeing the girl's distress, he let go of her quickly and cleared his throat, embarrassed by the situation.

-" Miss Granger, I don't have all night. Tell me what's going on and I might be able to help you," he said dryly.

The girl looked up at the man with reddened eyes. "N-no professor, I-I'm sorry...I-I..." The man huffed annoyed, "Oh please Granger, try to get three words in without stopping. My patience is running out, I expect an explanation. Why are you crying?"

He was annoyed, how could she explain to him how she felt, what had happened... He certainly wouldn't understand...

Hermione wiped away the few tears that ran down her face and gathered what little courage she had left.

-" I... I thought Harry and I had developed a certain relationship and I..." Snape stared at her, she felt as if his eyes were penetrating every inch of her soul. "I thought he had feelings for me but I was wrong..." She said, swallowing a sob. She moved her fingers awkwardly, she didn't dare look him in the eye now, it was far too humiliating. "He told me he wasn't physically attracted to me and never would be..."

Snape let out a mocking laugh, "So that's your excuse?"

Hermione suddenly looked up into her professor's face, did he not believe her?

- B-but Professor, I swear to you that-" she stammered.

Snape raised his hand sharply and gestured for her to be quiet.

- Miss Granger, I thought you were much smarter than this," he sighed, "do you realise what you're getting yourself into for stupid boys?

- "They-they're not stupid-"

- "Yes they are," he spat coldly, "They are, believe me. You're far too mature for them. They'll regret their decision in a few years." he sighed in annoyance and continued, "Now, you'll dry your tears and go back to your dormitory before I remove all the points from your stupid house."

- "B-but, I must be so... disgusting..." The man rolled his eyes, with an exasperated look on his face, he grabbed his wand, which made the girl take a step back, what was he doing? The girl relaxed when she saw that he was simply holding up a mirror on the wall. He grabbed her wrist roughly and pulled her to face the mirror.

Hermione was silent, what was he waiting for? The only sound was the fast, irritated breathing of her potions teacher.

- "What do you see Granger?"

The girl was lost, she stared at him in fear, not knowing what to do.

Snape grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her.

- "Granger, I'm waiting!"

Hermione felt the tears rising and her throat tightening.

- "M-me... S-Sir..."
- "Do you see a monster? A disgusting girl?!" he snarled
- "N-no."

He let go of the girl, made the mirror disappear and stood facing her.

- Now stop feeling sorry for yourself, you're better than this," he said dryly. "I'm giving you a week's detention for the curfew violation, you'll do your detentions with me starting tomorrow, have I made myself clear?"

Hermione nodded quickly, not wanting to make him any more angry than he already was.

- "Now go away and don't let me see you again tonight. Tomorrow at eight, don't be late." He turned and left in long strides, twirling his cloak in the breeze of the dungeon corridor.

That night, Hermione fell asleep quickly, overwhelmed by the multitude of emotions she had just experienced.
