Hey everybird! What's up!?
So earlier I written a one shot called Sisters Duet, which was inspired by and based on the My Little Pony: Mark Your Mark episode Portrait of a Princess. And I thought… Why not make a full short story on that!?
And you know… I haven't really explored much into the sibling relationship between Bia, Carla, and Tiago, so it's also a good time to do that!
Anyway, lets get on with it!
Chapter 1: The Day has Come
"Today's the day! Today's the day! Today's the day!" Carla kept repeating loudly as she bounced around in the hollow she shared with her sister, who was rudely woken up by her energetic elder sister, well elder by only a couple of minutes. "Come on sis, aren't you excited!?"
"Yeah… Nothing like another trip to Rio for Portrait Day…" A very tired Bia yawned as she was forced to wake up from her peaceful sleep.
Today was a special day, for today was the day in which Bia, Carla, and their family would fly to Rio to spend a few days there, one of which was sitting for a long time for a portrait of them to be taken. This was a tradition which went on for years, started with the sisters' father, Blu, along with their Uncle Alex and Grandma Linda, back when the three were in Minnesota, sitting for a portrait to be painted of them.
And as the years went on, more and more joined the portraits painted annually, with the two sisters, their mother and brother, along with their grandpa Eduardo, grand auntie Mimi, Uncles Roberto, Rafael, Nico, Pedro, and Luiz, joining the portraits as the family continued to grow. Of course with more to paint, the longer they would have to sit still for it to be done and while Carla was excited for it, Bia wasn't at all…
It would have been the simplest thing to just take a picture with a camera, but than, as their parents would argue, it just wouldn't be as special and memorable. It wasn't that Bia didn't love her family, it was just that she was someone who loved exploring a lot, moving about and always wanting to find something new to discover. Sitting around for hours doing nothing was just something she didn't want to do.
"Oh come on sis, we get to see Uncles, Rafael, Nico, Pedro, and Luiz, in Rio, it's been awhile since we saw them!" Carla trying to cheer up her sister.
"Yeah…" Bia sighed as she stretched her wings, unable to go back to sleep due to her sister babbling on about the day. "I'm going to get some breakfast…" Bia yawned, not really hungry, she just wanted an excuse to leave for now and wait til her sister calmed down a little.
Bia stepped out of the hollow, feeling the warm rays of the morning sun bathing her as she stretched out her wings again and took flight. As she approached a tree full of Brazil nuts, she saw someone related to her.
"Hey sis, good morning." Tiago smiled as Bia landed down next to her brother. "You look like you haven't slept that well…"
"Well not when you have a very loud sister you share your hollow with…" Bia replied. "She just went on and on about leaving today for Portrait Day…"
"You're not excited?" Tiago asked, cocking his head to the side. "I mean I'm okay with it, but this will be Lisa's first time in it and she's happy to join in on the tradition, can't wait til our kids can too." Tiago smiled.
Ever since the three siblings were old enough, they left their parents' hollow, with Bia and Carla living together in their hollow while their brother Tiago, with his girlfriend, now mate, found their own home in between the Blue and Scarlet macaw tribes.
"Great… more time just sitting still like a statue…" Bia complained, clearly not happy still.
"Cheer up sis, think of it this way, as soon as we're done, we have the huge party at Uncle Nico and Pedro's club right after." Tiago smiled. "Now I better hurry and bring back breakfast for Lisa before she wakes up and wonders where I flew off to." Tiago flying off with some nuts, leaving Bia by herself.
"How many more have to be in the portrait…" Bia thought as she wondered how she could delay the trip, for her to have her own fun before she would have to join with her whole family for the flight to Rio… "I guess that could work… I just have to make sure mom and dad know…" Bia smiled finally as she took flight herself, to go to her parents.
When she arrived, Bia heard a lot of kissing sounds coming from out of the hollow, her parents clearly enjoying the morning to themselves. Bia stepped into the entrance of the hollow, seeing her parents rapidly kissing each other, with their wings wrapped tightly around each other. Bia blushed before clearing her throat loudly to grab her parents' attention. Both Blu and Jewel having been alerted and looked towards the direction of the sound to see their daughter as the two blushed bright red as they unwrapped themselves and stood up.
"Sweetie…" Blu clearing his own throat. "How long were you standing there?"
"Just for a few seconds." Bia answered. "You know how today we go to Rio for Portrait Day?"
"Oh yes, one of the best days of the year for the family." Jewel commented.
"Yeah…" Bia said slowly. "Is it okay if maybe I could meet up with the family last, I want to do something by myself for the day."
"I don't see a problem with that sweetie, just as long as you meet us before the day ends." Blu giving his permission.
"Really?" Bia brightening up now. "Thanks dad, I'll see you later…" Bia about to fly off, only for her mom to speak up.
"Why don't you take your sister with you, since you two do live together." Jewel suggesting as Bia's smile disappeared.
"But mom, I…" Bia began, turning around to look at her parents with begging eyes.
"No buts Bia Gunderson." Blu agreeing with his mate. "Listen to your mother, she's right, you should spend some time with your sister, the next few days is all about family and she's your family too." Blu reminded his daughter as Bia couldn't argue with her parents.
"Yes dad…" Bia sighed as she flew out and back to where she lived with her sister. "Maybe it won't be so bad… Maybe I could have some fun with Carla…" Bia trying to stay positive as her hollow came within view and Bia could see her sister on her iPhone, vlogging to her followers about today. "Okay maybe not…" Bia braced herself for a hard day with her sister.
And I'll leave it there until next time!
I hope you enjoyed, really looking froward to writing about Bia and Carla's relationship as sisters!
Until than, see everybird later!
