Hey, I hope it's okay with you. This is a little fan-to-fan story. I don't own the characters.
"There! Now you're into digital media, boss," Tani told Steve.
"Thanks for your goodwill, Tani, but I don't know if I'll be able to get used to it," Steve replied.
"You'll get used to it, you'll be able to make new friends, maybe find a new love?"
Steve smiled. "I'm an old-fashioned guy, Tani. I'm not going to have the nerve to flirt with someone over the internet. In fact I haven't even done that in real life in a long time."
"And that's a mistake, you know," Tani stood up slowly. Her nearly eight-month pregnant belly weighed heavily. Steve rushed to help her, but she was able to stand up on her own.
"Not much time left now. I can't wait to meet my godson," Steve told her.
"Me too, boss. I can't wait until the baby is born and I can walk normally and not like a duck."
Steve laughed at her comment. "Stop it, you're a beautiful pregnant woman."
"I think so too," Junior replied as he entered Steve's office. He approached Tani and kissed her lightly.
"Steve already has a social media profile. You can follow him now," Tani told Junior.
"Really? I can't imagine you on a social network," Junior said to Steve.
"Me neither, Junior, but I'll try. Well, it's late now. It's time to go."
"I need a nice hot bath. Let's go, Junior," Tani said. She also said goodbye to Steve and walked toward the elevator.
"Go, Junior. Don't leave her alone. See you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow, Steve. Have a good night."
Steve came home discouraged and sad. He felt that he had lost everything that mattered. He had not married, he had no children, and at the end of the day it was always just him. Just him and nobody else.
He took a long shower, ate dinner, and then opened the letters that were in his mailbox. He had received the invitation to Joan's 15th birthday. "Joan's 15th birthday, I'm really getting old."
After washing the dishes he had soiled, he went up the stairs and into his bedroom. He opened his laptop and saw that Danny had already followed him and sent him a message.
Danny was dating a woman who was twenty years younger than him and was always trying to arrange a date for Steve with his girlfriend's friends and Steve always dismissed Danny's ideas.
Catherine Rollins was the name Steve typed almost unconsciously and he was surprised to see how many Catherines had come up in his search. But none of them was her.
