A.N: I decided to edit a few things for the characters.
School was just let out for fall break. Tommy and the gang were walking by a few stores when Phil mentioned about the closure of their childhood toy store Mr. Joewatch's Toy Shop. This always got to the group. All their lives, every toy, comic book and souvenir came from that place. And now it was gonna be gone for good.
"It doesn't mean we can stop their one last time before he closes it," Phil said, stepping ahead of the group. "I guess so," sighed Tommy. "I mean all of my dad's inventions were sold there."
Speaking of his dad, ever since his boss asked him to open up a factory he's been gone. Of course they had stayed in touch through via phone calls and texts. But it just wasn't enough.
The group had turned down the street that lead to Mr. Joewatch's store when Harold ran up from behind which startled everyone including Chuckie. "So, going to Mr. Joewatch's without me..."
"No way!" Tommy shook his head with his hand held in front of him. "You spend way too long looking for the toy or game that you want." Harold laughed. "I'm sorry. It's just so hard to choose on what I want."
The group walked inside where they were greeted by Mr. Joewatch. "Hey, guys. You came here just in time. Especially you Tommy. You're dad has a new toy."
This made Tommy excited. "What is it?" he jumped up and down. "I'm glad you asked, my boy." Mr. Joewatch reached around behind him and pulled out a large robotic Reptar figure. "This is the all new fire shooter Reptar." He pressed a button on the green dinosaur's stomach which made a plastic flame light up in it's mouth.
"Cool!" Chuckie exclaimed, picking up the toy and messing with it. While this was happening Harold was in front looking at different collectible figures that sat in the window. Cutting back to Tommy, he simply bought his dad's new toy and left leaving Harold behind.
Back home, Tommy and Chuckie were sitting in the room reading as Dil was throwing a ball back and forth in on the wall. Tommy didn't say anything and just fiddled around with the unopened Reptar box.
He felt upset. Mainly because his dad wasn't gonna be seeing him for a while. Dil on the other hand didn't care and just waited until that day came.
Downstairs during dinner while Tommy was eating, he overhead a special news statement that instantly made him not feel about seeing his dad. He quickly shot out of the chair and into the living room to listen in.
"That is right, Mr. Pickles, the owner of the Pickles Toy Entertainment is allowing five lucky winners to visit his factory. He just announced today. More details are supposedly found on the winning silver ticket."
This got Tommy excited. He hadn't seen his dad in a while, but made sure to stay in touch with him. He had to win. The next day when visiting Mr. Joewatch's shop the place was packed. Kids of all ages, waiting, and buying all of his dad's toys. Hoping to find a silver ticket. Phil waved over Tommy who was being squished by the crowd.
He told him that he was waiting to buy Mr. Pickles new fire shooter Reptar. "Phil, you know the chances of finding the silver ticket?"
"Nope! But I have a feeling I'm gonna find that silver ticket on my first try."
Tommy shook his head bitterly and moved out of the crowd to the front of the store where he bumped into his bully cousin Angelica, making her drop her new toy. "Hey watch it bum... Oh it's you!" Tommy leaned down to pick up her Reptar. "Sorry Angelica."
Angelica sighed. "It's whatever. Just hope it didn't break. Cause I'll be breaking you if it did." She held a fist in front of her cousins face. She walked out the door with Tommy by her side. She then went on to explain about how she's gonna be the one that'll find the first silver ticket.
But Tommy told her the same thing that he told Phil which only made her bump him in the arm. "I don't care! I'm not gonna stop buying these stupid dolls until I have a winning ticket!" She stromed off. Tommy shook his head and walked home.
Later that evening the unthinkable happened. While reading a book Dil came in and told Tommy to look out his window and when he did he couldn't believe it. Hundreds of news vans lined up on the side of the street near the DeVille's.
"What's going on?" Tommy sighed. He walked outside and over to Phil's house where he saw cameras flashing with multiple reporters standing outside.
"It all began last night where Mr. Pickles had hid five silver tickets in a box of any of his products and now tonight we have our first winner. Mr. Phil DeVille," a newsman announced while walking inside to interview the boy.
Phil was happily showing his ticket to multiple cameras. One reporter asked how he did it. "Well, if I'm being honest, all I did was walk inside Mr. Joewatch's shop and bought a Reptar figure which I had no idea there was a winning ticket inside. So when I opened it bam! Winning ticket." He held out the silver ticket for everyone to see.
Tommy watched from outside as Phil was too busy with interviewers who were waiting to talk to him. So he went back home and went to bed. The next day he was awoken by his brother who was shocked.
"Tommy! Get up!" his brother rushed him.
"What is it, Dil?" Tommy rubbed his eyes with a yawn.
"It's Angelica! She found the second ticket."
Tommy got up and ran outside to his cousins house where news vans were lined up like last night. This time Angelica was out in the lawn posing for pictures.
Tommy and Dil ran up behind a cameraman to listen in. "Congratulations Misses Pickles," said one reporter.
"How does it make you feel to be the second ticket finder?" Another asked.
"Great! I couldn't do it without help from my wonderful cousin Tommy." She noticed him and waved him over.
"My favorite cousin Tommy is the one who I thank for helping me buy the Reptar figure which I didn't know had a winning ticket inside." She gave him a hug. Tommy scratched his head in confusion then tried to tell everyone he didn't help her, but that only made him get slapped in the mouth which made him leave. Two down, three to go.
Later that night Tommy was in his room doodling a picture of him and his dad when Lou noticed him. "Hey, scout, whatcha doing up this late?"
"Drawing," replied Tommy, concentrating.
Lou looked at the picture and smiled, just as Tommy out down his pencil. "Do you really think I have a chance at finding a silver ticket?"
Lou laughed. "Of course! Nothing's impossible. You have a better chance of finding that ticket then winning the lottery."
"Now, pop, don't excite him too much!" Didi said from the doorway. She walked in and patted her son on the back. "Of course grandpa's right. But let's just see what happens."
Tommy smiled at his mother as he stood up and walked over to his bed. Didi came over and patted his back while telling him that nothing was impossible. And that if he didn't win, that he still could see his dad some other time.
The young boy yawned as he drifted to sleep. He rolled over on his side and stared out the window at the moon.
The next day, Tommy and the gang were walking back down to Mr. Joewatch's shop. The whole time Tommy didn't really listen to his friends since all Phil and Lil were talking about was how they won the first and third silver ticket.
"Jeez! Don't you guys ever talk about anything else!" Shouted the irritated boy. The group froze.
"Jeez, Tommy, what's wrong? Sleep on the wrong side of the bed?" Phil patted his friend shoulder, to which caused Tommy to come back with a fist in the air.
"No!" Tommy's voice trembled, as he took a breath. "I'm just tired of you guys talking about the silver ticket thing!"
Phil and Lil turned to Chuckie as he said. "I kinda am too." Phil then turned back to Tommy and sighed. The group then continued there journey until they came across a display of TV's that said something shocking.
"Wow, how lucky is this town getting. Silver ticket number four was just found here, by a young boy by the name of Timmy McNulty," an interviewer announced, as he stood outside of a house with multiple reporters seen in the background.
The group stopped to watch. "McNulty?" Tommy stepped up close to the TV. "Isn't that the kid who used to bully us when we were younger?" Chuckie mentioned.
The camera then pans over to the young boy who was sitting on the couch playing with robots. One interviewer sticks a mic in his face. "Mr. McNulty, how does it make you feel to be the fourth silver ticket finder?"
He didn't respond. "Timmy, do you think you could stop playing for a minute?"
"No! What are you crazy?!" Timmy said to the newsman. "He won't answer until a break," his mom sat down next to her son with a bag of pretzels.
"But Mr. McNulty the world wants to know..." a female reporter started, before being cut off by Timmy. "Can't you shut up, I'm busy! Boy, this is fun!" He reached for a dinosaur.
His mom took over. "I serve most of his meals right here. He doesn't even bother coming to the table."
"You like robots, McNulty?" A reporter asked.
"You bet!" Was his quick reply as he was still playing with them.
"But what about that silver ticket, Timmy!" Another reporter mentioned.
"Hold it, this is my favorite part." He took two robots and slammed there fists together, which caused one of their arms to break. "Darn it that's the fifth one. If only I could build my own. But dad won't let me use anything electrical, will you dad."
"Not til your fifteen, son," his dad said. The camera then cuts back to the reporter from before. "Well you heard it live, folks. Only one, and I repeat. One silver ticket remains in the whole world."
Tommy couldn't believe it. He started to give up hope. He knew he wan't going to see his father, or his factory. A teardrop formed in his eye. Chuckie walked up and patted him on his shoulder while trying to calm him. "Don't give up, Tommy. You heard him. There's still one ticket remaining. And so far, this town has had luck."
"Yeah, your right," Tommy took a breath as his confidence built up again. "I still have a chance." He walked down the street to Mr. Joewatch's shop where the man could be seen locking the door.
He turned to leave when he noticed Tommy and his friends. "Hey, Tommy."
"Mr. Joewatch. You're closing already."
"Yup," Mr. Joewatch sighed. "Here. I wanted you to have this." The elderly man handed Tommy a fire shooter Reptar. "It's the last one in stock. Now that my shop is out of business I don't have to worry about ordering anymore. See you around." The man walked away.
That evening, Tommy is seen watching TV, when Dil walks in holding the unopened Reptar figure. He asked him if he could open it. Tommy sighed and said yes. He dug his fingertips in between the packing tape and slowly slid it open.
He then closed his eyes and slowly slid his hand in the box. He felt the top of the Reptar doll. But as he kept digging, he felt something thin... He froze. His eyes widen with surprise. Could it be? He slowly removed the thin paper out of the box. It was! The fifth silver ticket.
"I found it! Mom, Grandpa! I did it! I found the last silver ticket!" His voiced boomed as he ran through the house to find his mom.
Upstairs Grandpa Lou was asleep while watching TV when Tommy burst in yelling. "Grandpa! I've got it the last silver ticket!" He waved the silver paper in the air.
Lou shot up out of bed in surprise. "Jumpin' Jehoshaphat! Oh, Tommy. What's going on scout?"
Tommy handed the last silver ticket to him. He adjusted his glasses as he started reading the thin ticket paper. "Greetings to you, the lucky finder of this silver ticket. I shake you delightfully by the hand..." He froze for a moment as he turned to his grandson and smiled. "Yippee!"
Didi came running in. "What's going on, pop?"
"Mom, I did it! I found the last silver ticket," Tommy said. His heart pounded with excitement.
Today was the day. The day when the factory opened. A large crowd stood far outside the factory gates alongside the winners. A row of police officers held everyone back besides the winners who were allowed to stand close outside the factory gates.
"Dad, when can we go in. It's freezing out here." Angelica asked her father.
Drew covered himself while shivering. "Whenever your uncle decides to open the gates."
Tommy turned over to his Grandpa. "I wonder how dad's been?" he said, becoming excited and full of joy. His teeth shown bright white as he crossed a smile.
"Who knows?" Drew said to Tommy with a shrug.
Just then a loud chime rung throughout the area. The clock tower next to the factory struck 10 o'clock. And from one of the buildings a door swung open, and walking out was the man himself. The inventor who made it all. Mr. Stu Pickles.
Tommy was happy he got to see his father again, but was shocked and confused when he saw what he was doing. He seemed to limp every step he took. He used a cane to help him walk. The man took his black inventors hat off, and then suddenly fell and then rolled and shot back up. The crowd cheer including Tommy.
"Tommy, my boy," Stu said, noticing his son.
Tommy reached out for a hug. "Hi, dad."
"It's great to see you again. Anyway, will the rest of you come forward, please." Stu called the rest of the group over.
Everyone ran up to the inventor. "It's wonderful to see you guys again. This is gonna be such an exciting day. I hope you enjoy it. I think you will. Now will you please show me your silver tickets."
The first person to step up was Angelica and her father. "It's me Uncle Stu. Angelica." She smiled.
"Angelica, sweetie, how've you been?"
"Great. I just can't wait to see what you've done to the place. It already looks phenomenal on the outside!"
"Good. Hey big bro'," Stu put a hand on his brothers shoulder.
"Wow, Stu, you've actually done something incredible for once," said Drew.
Stu chuckled. "Yeah, I told you those inventions were soon gonna pay off. Anyway, if you would wait over there please."
Angelica and Drew walked to the side as Phil and Lil stepped up next, following with Betty and Howard. "Hello, Mr. Pickles," said Lil.
"Ah, Phil and Lil. My two silly twins, how've you been?"
Before the twins could answer Betty stepped forward. "Swell, Stu, sure I'm still breaking my back helping Chaz down at the java lava. And Howard here trying out the new gym they built almost broke his arm trying out that new strengthening machine. And the twins here just overwhelmed and excited visiting their friends father's toy factory."
"How's Chaz anyway?"
"He's doing good. Gave himself a second degree burn trying to fix the espresso machine."
Stu laughed and stared at Lil. "And what about Lil?"
"Silver ticket number three," she waved the ticket in front of his face.
"Wonderful." He collected the ticket. "Welcome." The next family to walk up was McNulty and his mom. "Timmy McNulty's the name, sir!" He announced happily, holding out his silver ticket.
"McNulty, I thought I recognized you. And your mother of course."
"Pleasure," she said, shaking the toy makers hand. Stu laughed and then directed the two off to the side. The final two were Tommy and Grandpa Lou.
"Of course you know us, dad," Tommy handed his silver ticket to his dad, as he happily accepted it. "Yes, of course. Now is that everyone? Yes! Good! On we go!" Stu turned around and headed back to the same building he walked out of, following with everyone else. He opened the door and let his fellow guests enter and then himself.
The group was led into a narrow room. "Please everyone hang up your coats anywhere. But hurry we have so little time and so much to see..." He froze. "Wait a minute... Strike that. Reverse it. Thank you."
Everyone unzipped their coats and hung them up on a rack that hung on the wall. "Boy, what weird looking coat hangers," Timmy said.
While hanging up their coats. The hooks suddenly gripped their jackets causing some people to screech in surprise. Stu turned around to the group.
"There are little surprises around every corner, but nothing dangerous," his voice was shocking. Then calm. "Don't be alarmed."
"Now will the children kindly step up here." He used his cane to point up to a certain spot next to a large red curtain that he threw back to reveal a large contract posted behind.
"I, blank, will be held responsible for all actions. And will promise to follow all rules and laws. Mr. Pickles will not be held responsible for any accidents caused by floods, fire, ice, frost..." Drew mumbled out of the side of his mouth, reading the contract.
"Accidents? What kind of accidents?" Lil wondered.
"I didn't know we had to sign anything for this tour," Mrs. McNulty said.
"Angelica, sweetie, you first," Stu called Angelica up to sign the contract. "Sign there." Drew walked up. "Hold on. Angelica, sweetie don't you sign anything." He turned to his brother. "What's this all about?"
"Just a standard form of contact," replied Stu, simply.
Drew chuckled. "Don't talk to me about contracts, bro', Charlotte and I use them ourselves. They're strictly for suckers."
"Well, yeah, but you wouldn't begrudge me a little protection. A drop," said Stu.
"Yeah, my Philly isn't signing anything either," Betty made it final holding him back.
"Then he don't go in. I'm sorry rules of the house."
"Oh. Gimme that pen. You're always making things difficult," Angelica pushed her dad aside, taking the pen from his hand.
"Nicely handled Angelica, she's a girl who really knows what she's doing," Stu smiled in surprise. The other guests then took their turn to sign and continued on there journey. The group was led through a narrow cramped hallway, and then into a room that seemed to shrink the farther they walked in.
The group ended up in front of a small door. "Now my fellow friends. You are now about to enter the nerve center of my entire toy factory. This room is brand new, so."
"Come on," Angelica said impatiently, cutting her uncle off.
"Ah-ah, calm down, Angelica. Don't lose your head or get over excited. Just remain calm." Stu said. He then opened a small compartment in the door that had a tiny piano inside. He played a specific note to the tune of Fur Elise.
"Beethoven," Mrs. McNulty said. Stu then closed the compartment. "Now ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls..." he pushed open the door to reveal a large garden of edible sweets. "The sweet room."
