Umm... Hi, this is my first crossover post to this website. I like making stories and I try my hand at writing FanFics once in a while. Normally, I'm shy about posting my stories... But I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone and share some ideas.
So, this FanFic I'm sharing was inspired by some FanArt someone else posted on a website. It was a picture of Conan and a particular Pokémon that share similar traits. Because I liked it so much, I decided to share my story test for fun on that same website. That was about 2 years ago. Now I finally worked up the courage to make an account here and share it.
This is also posted on A03. I originally wanted to share it here first, but I wasn't getting my e-mail right away and I got the other before this site.
Well, I won't keep you any longer, here's the story.

Prologue: What Kind Of Pokémon Are You?
Sleep, so relaxing. The place where all thoughts fade away and nothing stirs the one who dwells in it. Dreamless sleep, a young boy with blue eyes, messy brown hair topped with pointed cowlick enjoys this time to let all thoughts melt away. Let the troubles of the Organization come again another day, let his love life be dealt with for another time, let the desires to become himself just cease for now, and let the Detective boys' antics be thought about some other day; for this was his time of rest. Each worry of the day seemed to fade as he goes deeper into the depths of slumber. Then he wakes, his bright blue eyes welcomed to the sight of a prism-colored void shifting from color to color, such as those seen in rainbows. Each color was so bright, but oddly, they did not hurt his eyes. The lights felt soft and the feel of the void was warm. As he slowly became aware, he noted that this was not like anything he had experienced before.
"Where am I? Is this a dream? It definitely feels nothing like other dreams I've had. If anything, this is the first non-realistic dream…" A sound broke him out of his thoughts, "Oh! What was that?"
This made him tense up, cautious that maybe the dream would get dangerous. Slowly he looked around again, but saw nothing. He pondered, "I'm sure of it… I heard something… no… someone. That was definitely a voice. Someone's either trying to wake me up or this dream is trying to talk to me."
Then he heard the voice, it spoke in a hesitant manner, "You… You who can hear my voice… Might you be… a human?"
The young boy's head tilted in confusion as to what this voice was talking about. Of course he was human, what else could he be? Then the voice continued to speak, "If you are… please… please listen to my request…."
He stayed quiet and listened. "Being here is no accident, you were able to hear my voice from many others who I called out to. You must be one of them! You have been called to this world for a reason, to solve its plight and find the truth."
Those words echoed all over, causing the young boy to be more confused than the reason he was in this void at all. "One of them?" " World?" "Solve a plight and find the truth?" What was that even suppose to mean? This dream was taking a turn from surreal to ridiculous. Perhaps being with the Detective Boys and being exposed to their media culture caused him to have such a bizarre dream. Still a part of him was curious as to what it could all mean. Before he had a chance to ask, the voice spoke up once more.
"This world needs your help. Not as the hero, for that role has been fulfilled, but you're needed as a seeker of truth. One who can solve the unsolvable and unearth the secrets lying within. Oh little detective, we need you."
The voice faded once again, and there he remained in the void alone. This dream was so strange, but that was only just the beginning. The void began to ripple like water in a pond, when it calmed down a cloudy figure was in front of him.
"And now there's something fuzz… Huh?" The image began to clear up, and upon closer inspection he realized, "That blurry reflection.. Is that… me?!"
There before him was a blurred image of a teenage boy, same messy brown hair with cowlick in the corner, same bright blue eyes, and a toothy grin filled with confidence. His image looked exactly like how he was before, way before that dark day in Tropical Land. Actually more like the school night before the day, since the reflection was dressed in the Teitan High School's Blue Blazer & Pants Uniform accompanied by a green neck tie.
"That's me…." He sighed and stared longing to be that image of himself again. Then, it rippled once more, changing into another blurred image of who he was now. The young boy with the same features in the blue uniform suit, glasses, and bowtie. He sighed again, sadly admitting, "…and that's me now." He didn't need this reminder of his problem from a dream of all places. Even if this wasn't a nightmare like the Black Organization finding out his identity, this dream was just as bad to remind him of what he is now.
The silence after his lamenting was broken by the voice. This time, the voice seemed softer than before, "I have seen within you, your past and your present. You are carrying a great load of suffering, and yet, you still manage to overcome this and seek the truth in the mess you face. Even with all you go through, you still carry a smile bright and with confidence that the answer will arise soon. You sometimes worry and at times may be afraid of showing what's in your heart. But you have good friends and rivals with you that can and have helped you with the load, so let them carry some of those worries for you."
He pondered on the words the voice had said, thinking that maybe it was trying to cheer him up. Smiling at this, he thanked the voice. Then it spoke again, this time with a little more firmness and haste in tone, "I know this is sudden to pull you away from the world you know, but the truth needs to be found here. So I ask again, will you help us oh little detective?"
This dream was rather strange, first a void, then this voice with a strange mission, then the introspection on his character, and finally the obscured reflection of himself. He wasn't sure how much he could handle, it was too senseless for his critical thinking mind. But deep down, he wanted to help solve a mystery that may remain unsolved. Maybe this would prove to be an experience to set his mind at ease. Then when it was done and he wakes up to see Mouri-Ojisan's Bedroom, he might be able to feel more relaxed since it was his first nonsensical dream in a long time.
After thinking on all the pros and cons, he decided to go for it and see what would happen next. After all, this was a dream, what could go wrong? So with his mind made up, he answered the voice, "I'll help you, I'll help your world and solve whatever mystery you need me there for."
No sooner had he spoken these words, his blurred reflection rippled again. "Wh-What now? My reflection… It waved and then… shifted again, but different from the last two times. Almost as if I changed it somehow."
The image before him was now rounded, but all he could make out were 2 shapes, one spherical shape on top and a rounded bottom. The figure cleared up a little and to his surprise, it almost looked like a blue Penguin. But before he could examine the animal that looked like a plush toy, a shining light came from deeper in the void and became blinding. He tried to shield his eyes, but it was too much and the next thing he knows, he falls unconscious unaware that he's falling deeper and deeper into the light.

I tried to start it out as how a PMD Game starts by adding some references and a few dialogue lines from past games. The scenario is pretty vague since, at the time, I wasn't sure about the direction and wrote it as a test anyway. Him entering the PMD world is a bit more like Gates, so no quiz.
As for when it takes place, it's sometime after Shinichi's little Kyoto Trip (Episode 927-928 / Manga 1000-1005) but also around a point the B.O. plot is getting deeper, maybe? Well, it's at a random point where he's just doesn't want to deal with any of his current problems, choosing to sleep everything away. Not even his Holmes books can help him unwind. But by accepting this new situation, he doesn't know what he's getting himself into. He will have quite the mystery to solve.
Oh and, as much as I like a good ship, I don't plan to write them here. I want to focus on a story of adventure, mystery, teamwork, and friendship. That would be the goal here.
Well, that's it for now, I'll share the next part soon. Thank-Q for reading!
