A/N: Hi! This is a series of one-shots dedicated to Marigami. I know this ship is underrated but I can't help but write a few fics of these two since they're adorable together. I know many of you are either Adrienette, Lukanette, or Felinette fans but pls give this fic a chance! Note that there will probably be many salt fics with Marinette, Lila, and the class. I know, I'm cruel but I kind of like these fics so...

Summary: Adrien likes Marinette! Finally! But there was one problem... Marinette doesn't like him anymore.
After a whole year of watching them, they finally heard the words all have been waiting to hear.
Adrien has a crush on Marinette.
Adrien likes Marinette
When he told all of the class一most likely Nino told Alya, who told Rose, who told Juleka一you get the idea that he has a crush on a certain bluenette. Let's just say they were all livid.
The guys congratulated him, patting him on the back and telling him its about time. The girls had different reactions to this; Rose was screeching and crushing Juleka with a hug. Juleka slowly but gently tried to get out of it一not wanting to upset her girlfriend, needs the ability to breathe. Alix gave Adrien a thumbs up and a nod. Myléne tried her hardest to hold her tears while Ivan was comforting her. Alya was ecstatic that her best friend was not the only one with said feelings. To the surprise of everyone, Chloe shrugged and said she didn't care. They asked Sabrina about it, but the redhead only shook her head. She didn't even know why Chloe didn't cuss or insult Marinette.
The class had tried to get the two alone. It either gets interrupted by Marinette being busy or Adrien, who chickens out. Or one of the two was hanging out with friends一mainly Kagami, Chloe一suprisingly, and Luka in Marinette's case. Sometimes they get interrupted by an Akuma attack.
All noticed that whenever Marinette leaves, the teen model either sulk or covers his face to hide his blush and embarrassment. It's funny, at first一seeing as Marinette had acted similarly around him back then. But now it's starting to get annoying.
Days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months. It's been about five months since Adrien admitted he likes her, yet he hasn't done one thing to push that relationship into something more. Alya swears that half of the class was plotting to put those two in a room and lock it until they admit their feelings about each other.
Not only that, Alya had been noticing Marinette's behavior. Whenever they got together as a class–like a picnic, she got annoyed when her friends tried to force her to sit next to Adrien, giggling and giving the least subtle hints. Marinette didn't mind it–which surprised everyone. She'd most likely make reasons not to sit next to him, especially in that proximity. What surprised them more was that she didn't even stutter when she talked to him.
The wall that displayed the pictures of Adrien was barely there. There were probably about two or three pictures of him一ones that he's with the class. Even her computer screen! Sketches and drawings of dresses and suits replaced them, instead.
She even noticed more pictures of Chloe, and the ice queen一Kagami, Adrien's ex. She knew the two were rivals for the blonde's love, but she didn't expect them to get along and be friends. Especially the three women.
Now that she thought about it, Marinette hasn't spent a lot of time with them or her. They tried to involve her with some outings, but she declined or stated she was busy with one of her commissions. Alya and the others didn't know much of Kagami either. Except for Adrien一wait, no. She also noticed that the girl hadn't spent much time with him lately. So there goes that.
Her style changed too. The pigtails were gone, now replaced with either a messy bun or loose hair. Her usual clothes now changed into more fashionable ones一simple but trendy.
As one of the up-and-coming designers in the industry, Marinette has gained a lot of commissions. Mainly Jagged, Clara, and a few celebrities she knew, but many celebs and artists were on the list to have an MDC original. Her social media blew up too! You can thank Jagged for that one.
But the one thing that made her question Marinette's reasons was that she saw her and another person hanging out together. She didn't see their face, although she and the unidentified person were definitely 'more than friends.'
Whatever is going on, she intends to find out.

The whole class sat on the benches, cheering on Adrien. When Mlle. Bustier told them they got invited to watch Adrien and his team joining the Junior Fencing Competition of Paris; the class immediately agreed. Marinette sadly declined, stating she would cheer for her friend who joined the same competition. The only problem was Alya didn't know who this friend was.
It could be Kagami, but the girl didn't know where she attends classes. Nor do the others. And she's technically not on the junior team in Dupont, so that checks out.
Adrien was sad she couldn't come, of course, and he had to force a smile as she left the day they were planning.
"Are you ready for this dude?" Nino clasped his shoulder as soon as he saw him exiting the locker rooms.
"Of course I am. M. D'Argencourt has been pushing me hard for this day!" He happily cheered out. But Alya knows that forced smile that's settled on Adrien's face.
"M. Agreste! In formation, please! The competition's about to begin!"
He waved as he ran off to stand beside his team. The competition started strong. Some of them were swift or slow, depending on their skill. Adrien skillfully beat the other competitors, but when it came to the semi-finals, he barely managed to beat his opponent, only winning by a point.
They shook hands and went back to their perspective seats. The announcer called for a 15-minute break一which Adrien gladly took. The class immediately went towards him the moment he took his seat.
"That was intense!" Rose exclaimed as Juleka nodded behind her.
"By my calculations, you had a 43% of you failing with the position you were in, so it doesn't surprise me that you somehow managed to counter it."
"Max, stop. You're going to ruin his focus." Alix stated while Kim was massaging Adrien's shoulders. Stopping to grab him a bottle of water, Adrien thanked him and finished the whole thing. Alya was giving him pep talks along with Nino.
"Don't listen to them, Adrien. You only got one obstacle left, so give it your best shot."
"She's right, dude. Only one person left until you got the gold."
"Easy for you to say you're not the one fighting Kagami." He gave them a flat stare. The brunette only gave him a shrug, and her boyfriend gave him a sheepish smile.
"Stop sulking. You haven't even fought yet."
"I fenced with her!"
"Yet you're still her with us." He was about to retort, but the announcer interrupted him before he could utter one.
"Now for the finals! May we request M. Agreste and Mlle. Tsuguri on the piste, please!"
His friends encouraged him as Nino handed him his mask. Kagami was already standing on the piste, her stance rigid and ready to pounce. Both plugged in their body cords along with their blades.
The two saluted each other as they faced one another. The referee gets to his position, looking at the two fencers. "En garde!"
All were tense as the two moved into stance, readying themselves for the most intense fight everyone might see.
"Prȇts?"
When he looked at the two, they were already on their guards, just waiting for the final word to come out of his mouth. "Allez!"
Adrien attacked first with a series of paries and thrusts, which Kagami countered with her own. Both were quick on their feet. Their sabers clashed against each other from the blocks and attacks. It was difficult catching up to the two fencer's speed, especially for the audience. However, the other fencers watched it with ease. M. D'Argencourt had stars in his eyes while some of the class were wide-eyed. Kim had his mouth open, and Alix was vibrating in her seat.
Finally, Adrien found an opportunity to hit Kagami in the chest with a counterattack. Still, she defended and countered with her own, hitting him in the temple. The red light shined, indicating she scored the first point. It continued until the referee called for a 1-minute break after the two fought each other in the last 2 minutes.
Adrien drank two whole bottles, and his face was almost red from exhaustion. Nino caught his eyes and gave him a thumbs up. The two got called back again after the time was up. Kagami was ahead by 13 points to Adrien, who has 12. Although exhausted, he is determined to win this competition一and it seems Kagami had the same thought.
"En garde! Prȇts? Allez!"
As the two lunged at each other, Alya saw a familiar bluenette and company on the other side of the court. Chloe was there, as well as Luka. She was sporting a red sweater with ripped jeans and white sneakers. Her hair was up in two messy buns, and it looked like she was talking to a woman who looked like Kagami?
If she had to guess, it was Kagami's mom. They have similar facial features, and their hair almost had the same shade. Alya barely paid attention to the match until Nino shook her out of her stare, pointing at the two breathing heavily. Both scores tied at 14.
"En garde! Prȇts? Allez!"
This time Kagami lunged first. Her eyes were laser-focused on the Agreste boy. She feinted left when he tried to hit her in the ribs. Adrien moved like a cat, who stood on the balls of his feet, making him light and quick. Kagami was slowly losing ground as Adrian was gaining the upper hand. Little did he know that she had been planning this all along. She purposely ran towards him, her saber gleaming in the light. Adrien smirked underneath his mask, thinking he already clearly won when she dodged at the last minute, catching him off guard. He tried to twist out of the way, but it was too late as she went past him, tapping the tip of her blade on the back of his helmet.
The class went to Adrien and surrounded him after he got his medal and photo, congratulating him on 2nd place. Kagami walked towards him and the group, clearing her throat to get their attention. All of them turned toward her and steered clear between the two fencers. Alya tried to step up, but Nino held her back, subtly shaking his head.
Once they stood eye to eye, Kagami took a step back and bowed. "It was an honor to fence against you, Adrien. I hope we will have a rematch soon." She respectfully proclaimed, straightening her posture once more. Adrien reciprocated the gesture.
"Kagami!" Adrien was surprised to see the girl genuinely smile as well as the others. The said girl turned around and walked toward the bluenette and the accompanying friends. She gladly accepted the hug as well as the kiss.
Meanwhile, the group who stood behind them, watching the whole encounter had their jaws drop. Adrien looked at them wide-eyed, glancing back and forth between the two girls, his mind a jumbling mess at the moment. All stood frozen at the newfound knowledge, and Alya snapped out of it first. "What the fuck? Since when were you two dating?"
The two girls shared a look while Chloe was laughing at their expressions, and Luka was grinning at them. Marinette answered her question as Kagami wrapped her arm around her waist. "We've been dating for around a year. We celebrated our Anniversary a few months ago, last May."
"Wait, May? Didn't you visit your uncle in China last year? The same month you two celebrated your anniversary?"
"We accidentally bumped into each other that month. We didn't even know the other was there." The 16-year-old bluenette admitted. Kagami continued in her stead. "My mother and I were there because of a business agreement. We kept each other's company while our parents were busy doing their business. Then one day, I asked her out, and she said yes, we tried dating, and long story short, here we are."
"Why didn't you tell us?" Rose questioned, and the others agreed, backing her.
Before Marinette could utter a word, Chloe interrupted her. "Oh, she did try to tell you, but you interrupt her every time. You also pushed her to go on these dates with Adrien when she clearly shows disinterest in them. I swear I thought Kagami was about to march up to you all and stab you with her foil."
"How would you know that, Chloe?" She argued, her brow arched and her arms crossed in front of her chest.
Chloe scoffed and flipped her hair. "Because I've seen those two blushed worse than a tomato can have its color. I already lost count of Luka trying to stop Kagami from grabbing her fencing sword and stabbing Adrien and the others with it."
Some paled at the thought of it alone, and those near her took a step back, afraid she might do it now. Marinette tried to smother her laughter with her hand (and failed), while Kagami had a smirk on her face.
Out of her peripheral view, the former noticed Adrien moved to the back of the group with Nino trying to comfort him. She kissed her girlfriend on the cheek and walked toward the sad blonde.
"...Adrien?" She tentatively approached him. She gave Nino a meaningful look, and he nodded, leaving the two alone. "H-hey, Marinette." His voice was small as he greeted her.
"Look, I一"
"Do you love her?"
"Huh?"
"Do you love her?" Marinette's eyes soften at that question. Adrien noticed and already knew what she was about to say. "At first, I was confused about liking Kagami. I was oblivious to it at first. Then I noticed the subtle hints and gestures she would make toward me, and I was scared of confronting these feelings. When Kagami asked me out, I didn't know what to do. So, I followed her advice; Never hesitate."
"I knew right there that she was ecstatic when I said yes. She didn't express it publicly, but I know from her eyes. We became official that day. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Sure we argue sometimes, but that's the everyday problem that partners deal with, we're not perfect, but we support each other. Sure, she's pretty, smart, athletic–you name it! But I'll always love her for who she is, not her title or status. And after a year of being together, I'm proud to say I'm in love with Kagami Tsurugi."
Adrien nodded. A bittersweet smile came to his face as he wanted to hear the answer he desperately needed for his final question to her. "If… if there was a chance the outcome could be different, would you say yes?"
She pondered the question for a bit until she gave him her answer. "If it was different, probably. And, besides, you can't love a person when they don't reciprocate those feelings. But right now, we can't change the past, so we need to learn to move on."
"Marinette!"
"Coming!" She turned back to look at him. A sweet smile plastered on her face. "We may not be in a relationship, but that doesn't mean we're friends." She gave him a chaste kiss on the cheek and rushed toward the other group.
Adrien gingerly touched his kissed cheek and watched the group leave dejectedly. Knowing he can't do anything to change the past, he can still be there in her life as her friend.
