Beginning A/N: This particular story was inspired by the stories Shinji the Tiger and Shampoo's Husband by gunman on fanfiction. Great big shoutout to gunman, your stories are fantastic and inspirational to us all! Now, I know what you're going to say about the T-Rex thing but hear me out. There have been many different life forms that have drowned in those cursed springs in China in the Ranma universe, from a girl to a boy, a panda to a pig, and a duck to a cat. And these are just the most well-known pools! So, if one can fall into a Spring of Drowned Yeti-riding-Bull-carrying-Crane-and-Eel, then surely, I can create and have someone fall into the Spring of Drowned Tyrannosaurus. So, here's hoping that this story is well-received.
Disclaimer: I don't own My Hero Academia or Ranma ½!
Izuku the T-Rex!
Deep in the valley of Jusenkyo, a fourteen-year-old boy with curly yet spiky green hair groaned as he awoke from a dreamless sleep. His green eyes blinked rapidly as he tried to shake off the groggy feeling that came from his slumber. He was thin, almost scrawny like a noodle or a twig, with round eyes and a face that was still a little on the round side due to baby fat which gave him an innocent and, depending on who you're asking, adorable look. He also had four freckles on each side of his face forming diamond patterns and was dressed in some sort of school uniform.
"Wha…? Where am I?"
The first thing he noticed was that one; he was laying on a patch of soft, green grass instead of solid concrete. And two; he was still alive.
"I guess a useless, quirkless Deku like me can't even die right." he said in depression.
You're probably wondering who this kid is.
Well, his name is Izuku Midoriya, and he was both very depressed and very confused right now. One minute he had just had his dreams crushed by All Might and decides to finally end it all by jumping off of the roof of the very tall building that he had been left on, unable to deal with the abuse and neglect that he had to go through on a daily basis because of his lack of a quirk, and the next thing he knows he sees a bright flash and falls unconscious. And now he's somewhere in the wilderness.
"Either I actually did die and am at the River Styx… or I was hit with a teleportation quirk before I could hit the ground." Izuku surmised.
Normally this would be where he goes on a mutter spree as his thoughts start to move at about a thousand miles a minute, especially since a quirk might have been involved, but considering how he doesn't even know where he is or how he got there in the first place he really didn't feel the need to start nerding out. Standing up from his resting place, Izuku decided that he should at least take a look around.
The land wasn't very familiar to him, and the first thing he noticed about the place was that there were small stone pools all over the place, each one elevated from the ground. And each pool had at least one or two bamboo poles sticking up out of it. As a matter of fact, he was standing right next to one.
'Okay, just where am I, and how did I get here? Because I have a feeling I'm not in Japan anymore.'
As he walked around, he noticed that there was writing carved near the base of each of the pools. They were clearly written in what he recognized as Chinese kanji, which was somewhat similar in appearance to Japanese writing, and yet completely different. Izuku had actually taken online classes for both English and Chinese language and had mastered both, although Japanese is his first language. Because of this, he could make out the words that were etched into the base of the pools.
One pool said 'girl', another said 'man', the next said 'panda', and the others that he could make out read 'horse', 'pig', 'duck', 'Tyrannosaurus', and for some reason the last one he saw read 'Yeti-riding-Bull-carrying-Crane-and-Eel'.
Man, that last one's a mouthful!
And Izuku just so happened to be standing next to the pool that read Tyrannosaurus.
"Okay, so there are a bunch of pools that each read a different creature, with two of the pools being different genders of human. …Pardon my French, but… where the fuck am I?" Izuku wondered.
He looked around and, as far as he could tell, he was the only one around. There was nobody else and nothing but pools of water and bamboo poles as far as the eye can see. Izuku quickly reached into his pockets and sighed in relief. At least he still had his wallet and phone on him. That meant that he still had his identification and a way to contact his mother.
Once he could find a signal, at least.
A sudden thundering noise caught the lad's attention and he turned to see what looked like a large panda being chased by a very angry redheaded girl. He silently wondered if the panda might have escaped from a nature preserve and the redhead was trying to recapture it. The next second, Izuku found himself slammed into by the panda and redhead, knocking him back and tossing him into one of the pools of water.
What happened then, changed Izuku's life forever.
"Ohhh, what happened?" Izuku groaned as he surfaced from the water.
The water wasn't deep, but it had been colder than he would have preferred. However, what shocked him the most was that he didn't speak with words or thoughts. It sounded more like a growl. Unlike any he's heard from any modern-day animal. He quickly scrambled out of the pool and landed on both his hands and feet. He tried to stand up but felt his balance shift. His arms felt shorter than he remembered, his school uniform felt tight on his normally skinny body, and he felt a lot more mass behind him. This unusual shift in weight caused him to fall back into the same pool. He sprang out of the pool and landed on all four limbs once again. This time, he actually bothered to look down.
"Huh? When did I get these dinosaur gloves?" he wondered.
He looked around and noticed that something was definitely wrong. For one thing, the ground seemed to be a lot further than it usually did when he stood to full height, and even then, he felt as though he was hunched over somewhat. For another, when he moved his arms, they felt shorter than they should be, and he felt as if he only had two digits on each hand instead of the usual five.
"Okay, if this is some kind of practical joke, it's not funny!" Izuku said.
He looked behind him and saw… a tail. A tail belonging to a Tyrannosaurus Rex, to be exact! It was swaying in an obvious show of agitation and slight fear. Izuku thought back to previous events. He remembered the panda and how it seemed to be smarter than the average panda. He even recalled seeing the panda and that girl emerging from two of the pools, though he didn't pay any attention to it at the time. He slowly began to realize what was going on and was filled with horror as he willed the tail to stop… and it stopped.
"Oh, don't tell me!"
He ran back to the pool he emerged from and looked at his reflection in the water. Sure enough, staring back at him was the very creature whose name was etched into the stone base of the pool.
Izuku had become a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
As a T-Rex, Izuku has a strong build and is a large creature. His body is mostly a gray color with red stripes on his tail along with a bright red head and neck. His eyes have turned yellow with thin, reptilian slits for pupils, and he has long, powerful legs with three-clawed feet. He also possesses a small, horn-like crest on his snout, and small spines adorning his neck and the end of his tail.
This sudden realization caused the boy-turned-T-Rex to panic and jump around like he was chasing his own tail, roaring like a mad creature as he was overcome by a sense of primal fear. Fear at the possibility of being poached, fear at being treated like a monster, but worst of all fear that he could lose himself to his predatory nature and hurt his mother.
But once he started thinking rationally again, he realized something. His school uniform was gone. That struck him as odd. He was sure he was wearing it when he went into the pool, but where had it gone now? He looked at his skin, now a combination of reds and gray, and especially scaly. His was still bipedal, so he wouldn't have to spend too much time getting used to a different form of locomotion, but his arms were proportionally shorter than the rest of his body, and he no longer had human hands. Even his legs were of a different design compared to human legs. He looked behind him and waved his long, thick, muscular tail around. He then moved his tongue around inside his mouth and, yup, sharp pointed teeth with serrations for cutting meat.
No doubt about it. He was definitely a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Izuku had to admit, it was quite fascinating to be an actual living, breathing member of an extinct species like this one. He could now see what they were truly capable of without just having to guess based off of fossil records which were still fairly limited even these days. That was probably because everyone put so much more focus on quirks nowadays that hardly anyone has any interest in paleontology anymore. Even little kids were talking more about heroes than they were about dinosaurs and other prehistoric life.
But that's when he heard the sound of someone, or something approaching. He looked to his right as a man wearing an olive-drag uniform and cap, possibly of Chinese origin, approached him.
"Very bad young sir." the Chinese man said to the boy in broken Japanese, holding up what looked like a tea kettle with steam coming out of it. "You fall into Spring of Drowned Tyrannosaurus."
Izuku tilted his head and blinked. The man told him not to move as he placed a hand on Izuku's muzzle and had him crouch down a little and poured some hot water over him. In seconds the T-Rex vanished, only to be replaced by the human boy that was Izuku Midoriya.
"Hey! How'd you do that?" Izuku asked as he looked himself over, grateful to be human again.
And still fully clothed despite being naked when he was a dinosaur.
How convenient!
"You fall into cursed pool." the man said. "Person fall into pool get changed into thing that drown in pool before. Cold water turn you into animal, hot water change you back to human."
Izuku just looked at the man as he digested this information, his mind moving at about a million miles a second. He had never heard of these cursed pools before. This cemented one thing; he definitely wasn't in Japan anymore. But he still doesn't know for sure how he got to this place. Oh well, no sense in dwelling on that now. He had more important things to worry about now.
He asked the man, "Uh, sir? Pardon me, but who are you and where am I?"
The man looked at the boy curiously. Granted he didn't expect him to know who he was, but he was a little confused as to why the boy wouldn't know where he was.
"You in Jusenkyo, honored sir. In Chinese mountains." the man said. "I am guide to Jusenkyo."
Izuku's mind just couldn't take much more of these surprises and was very close to overloading. He sank to his knees as he tried desperately to make sense of everything that was happening, and the guide could only look at him. He understood that this was a lot for the boy to take in all at once.
"Well, one thing I need to know is how I got my clothes back. I wasn't wearing them when I was transformed, but now that I'm human again I have them on. How does that work?" Izuku asked.
"Not know, young sir. May have something to do with falling into pool twice. Has never happened before I assure you." the guide said.
Izuku sighed and rubbed his temples. That's another thing that can't be explained, apparently.
"Well, I guess all I can do is try to get to the nearest town, call home and let mom know what happened. Thank you for the information, Guide-san, but I must be on my way."
And so, Izuku left the Jusenkyo springs and followed the nearest road sign in the direction of a town. But as he was running down the dirt path through the forest, thunder boomed overhead, and rain began to fall. Izuku could only sigh as his curse kicked in and he was once again a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Not wanting to possibly risk injury, Izuku slowed down to a walk so he could get used to his new form of locomotion.
'Something tells me that this curse of mine is about to become a running gag.' he thought to himself.
***To Be Continued…***
Ending A/N: So, what do you think? Like it, don't like it? Please, tell me your thoughts in the reviews. I already have a general idea of where I want this story to go. And yes, Izuku's T-Rex form is based on Red from Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal. There's no real reason for this other than I liked that character. So, yeah, this Izuku has no quirk and is instead afflicted with a Jusenkyo Curse. Let's see just where that takes our young quirkless protagonist, shall we? Thanks for reading, and I'll see you all in the next update!
