Finally, here is the story. I really enjoyed starting this piece B) enjoy!
P.S. I wouldn't be patient when it comes to updates. It's.. probably going to be a long time again, since I'm writing longer chapters now. Anyway, enjoy!
P.S.S. A reminder that this is a part of a Cell's redemption series, this is part 2. He's still an asshole, and he won't be a good guy. Just not actively.. you know what, just read the story and you'll see.
On a distant planet lightyears away from planet Earth, a new weapon is brought to completion.
"And this is our way of subduing the Saiyans on Earth?" Warmonga inquired, eyeing the small, red glowing cube. "I can hardly believe we've wasted months on this tiny, little thing." When she reached to grab it, gloved hands snatched it away.
"You nearly just tortured yourself, Warmonga," said the stranger who first approached her in the past, now known among the Lorwardians as Daema. "Make sure to wear gloves when handling these, unfortunately its original function hasn't gone away. It is only hostile toward any race that isn't human, and as far as I know, we're all nonhumans."
The tall alien merely scoffed. "As long as we get rid of those Saiyans, I don't care for the costs. I want that human girl who bested me dead, as well as that charlatan fool," she finished darkly, clenching her fists.
"You're not the only one," said a disembodied voice, originating from behind Warmonga. Coming into view was the assassin, L, in foreign clothing. "Remember, I'll be the one to kill her. It has to go according to plan."
Daema played with the newly enhanced containment device. "All we need are your armies and Earth is as good as yours," he continued. "I know it's a lot for a backwater planet, but I'm not taking any chances. You and Warhok alone may not be enough, I have my own goals too, you know."
Warmonga only turned away sharply, but thinking carefully. Warhok is currently one of the strongest warriors on Lorwardia, to think the Saiyans could subdue him so easily.. she wouldn't believe it, but seeing Saiyans firsthand herself all those years ago, she knew their chances were slim to none without foreign aid.
She cast her eyes behind her. "Fine, it will be as you wish. But after this is all over, our alliance ends." With that, she went through a door that slid open and closed once she left.
The man placed the containment device back on the table. "I'm trying to help but she still treats me so harshly, huh."
"Does that matter?" L asked, her attention turning to the device. "How many do we have? We need to get that Cell bastard too if we want things to go our way."
Daema thought mentally for a quick moment. "According to the report Warmonga handed to me.." he paused, shoving a hand in his pocket and bringing out a mini-communication device, an olive-green screen hovering above it. "Seven, the eighth one is almost finished. I counted five Saiyans and two Namekians. I don't know what the hell Cell is, but the eighth one is being made especially for him. I know how much you hate the guy, so I'm amping the shock by 250% compared to the others."
"Good, I want him to suffer too," L replied with a satisfied look, a smirk tugging at her mouth. "When will it be done?"
"Tomorrow, their mechanics are being careful after what happened today, the shock nearly paralyzed one of them from the neck down," he answered, turning off his mini-comm.
"For an advanced race, they're pretty stupid," she said simply, before another thought took over. "A bit off-topic, but you still haven't told me what you needed me for. I know you want to get rid of someone.. do I know them? Are they on Earth? I haven't a clue how I fit into your so-called plan."
Daema went silent for a brief moment. He glanced toward her and she was staring intensely. It had been half a year since he broke her out of Global Justice, and he hadn't revealed his true plans yet. Despite the amount of time they spent together, they may as well be as good as strangers. As of now, Lorwardia's invasion on planet Earth was only the beginning.
"..Not yet, but I'll tell you when this is all over," he finally said, reluctance in his tone.
"And what's with these.. embarrassing clothes?" she suddenly asked, referring to the Kai-style uniform she was wearing, wanting to rip off the parts getting in the way of her movements.
Daema had a faux shocked expression. "That is your heritage! I get you were raised on Earth, but hasn't anyone ever told you about your origins?"
"No, I don't even know my real parents, and I don't care to." She was stretching the 'neck' of the outfit.
"Well, you are the first, that's for sure," he continued, causing her to cease momentarily. "I can't tell you much, but I can tell you this. Kais do not reproduce the same way as humans, if anything, far from it. So whoever made you really went through the trouble to make sure you exist. Feel a little good about it, at least. Someone wanted you to exist."
L zoned out a bit after hearing that last sentence. She didn't like to think about things like that, considering her childhood memories. She quickly dismissed everything he said with a shake of her head. "And you? What are you? You're not human, I know that much."
Daema didn't respond, he only smiled. "I guess you could say.. we're kindred spirits. Everything will be revealed in due time. Like I said, I'll tell you everything when this is all over. I think my partner knows more than I do, she'll be able to tell you more."
The blonde cocked an eyebrow. She hadn't seen anyone other than Daema since she was released from the confines of her prison last year. He always spoke of this partner but failed to ever catch sight of her.
"I won't pry," she said finally, before switching the subject to their plans, her eyes narrowing. "As soon as that last containment device finishes, we're setting a course for Earth. We're getting rid those overpowered freaks first so no one will be able to save that little bitch."
Daema was a bit taken aback, he knew she disliked the human girl but didn't think it went this far. From his time with L, he found that she's pretty rude, but he could perceive an unbridled hatred whenever that girl was mentioned. He hadn't heard her curse in all the time he'd been with her. He was lost in thought until he heard her leaving the room, heading in the same direction as Warmonga. He watched as she left and he thought more on the topic. He wondered what sort of human could have angered her this much?
November, six months prior to graduation.
Kim had just recovered her memories from amnesia on her recent mission tackling another one of Drakken's take-over-the-world plots involving mind control. Of course, using it with his old brainwashing shampoo he used in another failed plot.
She hated to admit it, but.. it was almost blissful. It was taxing of course, trying to recover her memories, but the period of time where she had no worries was like an enormous weight had been lifted. No crime fighting, no world ending events, and of course...
No Cell.
The second she remembered him was like a bomb had dropped.
It was when her father had compressed three seasons of Captain Constellation while her memory was being recovered. Nothing about it reminded her of the chimera, but it was when she saw Junior for the first time since she had lost her memory.
"Come on, little dude, she won't bite! She just needs to jog her memory, that's all! And.. well, she'll have to remember one day, I mean, it's inevitable, isn't it?" Ron asked, shrugging.
The mini bio-android was terrified. Being blissfully ignorant was the best thing that had happened to Kim. She had no trouble sleeping, she was laidback and most of all, there were no constant worries of his father destroying the planet and everyone on it. He had never seen her at such high spirits before. All of that would change the second she saw him, he didn't want that!
Unfortunately, Ron held no such sentiments. He snatched the boy with one arm, and marched right into the living room.
Kim was smiling warmly as she watched a compressed compilation of all her past experiences with friends and family, as well as the three seasons of Captain Constellation when she heard Ron coming in. "Oh, hey Rob! You're back! And with..." The redhead's face fell briefly when she saw the young boy in his arms.
"Ron," Ron corrected with slight disappointment. "And yeah! It's Junior! Remember him? He's like your uh, I mean, he's been adopted into the family! Your family, specifically. He's been with you since summer vacation, remember?" he continued, nervous. Kim's parents watched on with concern, knowing well what happened to their daughter.
The heroine just stared at the boy. She was no longer smiling. Junior felt a cold sting on his body, the indifferent, borderline glower on Kim's face had him trembling. This caused her parents to step in.
"Honey, he's a part of our family, and he's a very nice young boy," Ann noted, planting a hand gently on Kim's shoulder, feeling her daughter flinch at the touch. "..You've been watching him ever since he came here, making sure he's safe because a certain someone wants to hurt him."
"Someone.." Kim murmured, her brows furrowing as she held her head, an ache settling in. She closed her eyes from the strain. "Sorgel.."
"Yeah, that's right!" Ron confirmed. "The crazy scientist lady who wants to experiment on him!"
The second she said Sorgel's name, she felt her heart drop. Something else was missing. Something big. Someone dangerous. Someone who wants to hurt her and those she loved, but.. who? Why? Why do they want to hurt her? What do they want? She can beat them, right? She's.. Kim Possible, the girl who can do anything. Somewhere along this realization, she recalled all her past foes. She can beat them, she had the fighting skills! Every fight she had ended in her favor, this unknown threat was nothing, because no one could beat her. She could do anything, so this had to be true.. right?
There was one issue, however.
If it was true, then why does it feel like she already lost?
"You are nothing."
Kim went paralyzed at the sudden voice in her head.
And it wasn't hers.
It had been a two days since the incident and the mini chimera was nowhere to be seen in the house. Sure, he hadn't left, but that didn't mean he wouldn't hide. Every chance he got, he avoided Kim's line of sight. Unfortunately they couldn't put in more time looking for him since their main priority was getting her memory back. They decided to give him some space before allowing Kim to look for him and reassure him.
When the redhead recovered her final memory in the train with Ron, she'd remembered they actually dated! She honestly thought he had a one-sided crush before this point, but then she recalled the lies and secrets. She hadn't the time to confront him about it because all she could think about was rushing home to see Junior again, especially after what happened the day she saw him and suddenly recovered her memory of the fiend. Now that the final piece was found, she had to fix what had transpired between her and the child.
"Ron, we need to head home," Kim said, urgency in her voice.
Ron turned back, a knowing look in place. "Gotcha, KP."
After what felt like the longest time of her life, Kim burst through her front door and was met with surprised looks from her family, yet they probably knew why she appeared in such a hurry.
"Where's-"
"Upstairs," her mother answered quickly, unintentionally cutting her off. "Your bedroom."
Kim nodded, somewhat anxious. "Thanks, Mom."
Without wasting more time, she rushed upstairs and threw her hand on the doorknob, but she hesitated. Thinking for a brief moment, she took her hand off it. Instead, she knocked gently on the door.
"Junior?" she asked carefully, using her best efforts to prevent scaring him off. "I'm.. so sorry, I.. shouldn't have acted that way, you didn't do anything wrong, okay? There is no excuse, nothing to justify what I did. I need you to know that I care about you so much, and I can't imagine my family without you in it. Please, let's talk face-to-face, okay? Will you be alright if I came in?"
Silence; it hurt. She could feel her chest tighten briefly, but then she heard small shuffling from within her room. She waited patiently at the door, hearing the shuffling noises become louder indicating him coming closer to the door. Her heart jumped slightly at the sudden jiggle at the doorknob, but quickly calmed down when she saw the door open and was met with the tiny forlorn form of the mini android.
His gaze was low, like he was scared of making eye contact. Kim slowly knelt down at his height, gently pulling him in an embrace. She could feel her eyes sting a bit, she hadn't cried since her break up with Ron, but what she had done was unforgivable.
For that brief moment she recalled the chimera, she gazed at the boy with the same hatred and venom as if he were him. No matter how much she despised the fiend, how could she dare do that to a child?
Despite this, she inwardly blamed one person for this unforgivable mistake.
It was approximately one week before graduation.
Months had gone by and it was now May. Kim's birthday had passed in that month, a birthday she couldn't fully enjoy because she was in a near-constant state of anxiety. She knew it was the month in which a certain tournament was held eight years ago that would have decided the fate of the world. It was a good thing it ended well back then—almost.
It was May 26th, and she was eating breakfast with her family in the kitchen when she heard the day-ruining news on the television.
"Today marks the 8th anniversary of the horrifying Cell games, in which the World's Martial Arts Champion, our hero and savior, Hercule Satan successfully defeated the monster," the newscaster announced proudly, much to the Possible's dismay.
"Wasn't him," Kim muttered angrily to herself, stabbing her eggs with her fork with an extra bit of force, Junior watching on in worry.
"Never expected news reporting to be so inaccurate," James noted with a frown.
"Well, I wouldn't blame them, they don't exactly know what's happened. I hear it's all under wraps by the government," Ann added, remembering the one conversation she and James had with Sorgel last year.
"Ick, so not hungry now," Kim said with slight disgust, her eggs half-finished as she pushed her plate aside. She turned to Junior. "Come on, let's go meet Ron at Bueno Nacho." She stood up and walked toward the front door to leave, the mini chimera grabbing her unfinished eggs and swiftly plopping it in his mouth.
"Thank you for the food!" he said to Ann with a full mouth, waving goodbye as he chased after the heroine.
"What a nice kid," James mused. "Always a good hand when it came to black outs."
"Good thing he's nothing like that monster," his wife continued, gesturing to the television where they now displayed the old recording of the bio-android announcing his tournament.
"I remember that broadcast," the rocket scientist mused, thinking back on that day eight years ago. "I thought it was all a hoax until the earthquake that day. It really did feel like the end of the world."
Ann clutched her mug tightly. Yes, she remembered that day. Oddly enough, she hadn't a clear memory of the event. All she could recall was hearing the announcement from others and shrugging it off as some sort of hoax. Or a ridiculous attempt to frighten people. But the severe quakes that occurred around that time were far too much to simply call it a coincidence.
Her children were so young at the time too, thankfully Kim didn't think much of it then; being so strong and resilient at the tender age of 10.
Kim got in the driver's seat and buckled up, turning to her right to check if Junior had followed accordingly. Once she heard the click of the seat belt being put in place, she started the car and headed toward their destination.
Things were awfully peaceful. Too peaceful by her standards. Even the missions weren't that bad. At least, not world-threatening. Just some whack jobs trying to hit big or some important people held hostage for ransom. It'd been like that since last year, and last year she had planned on containing the fiend once and for all.
That was until the sudden news that he had gone missing.
From the planet at least.
Her grip on the steering wheel tightened. Did Sorgel capture him again? Did he leave the planet? Last year, she didn't know. But with Wade's affinity with tech, they found out he was nowhere to be seen in Area 51. There was nowhere else she could think of than space. It was another thing she'd learned from Wade when she requested for as much information he could collect on the chimera. Durability, flight, strength, the ability to breathe in space; she lost count the amount of things Cell could easily do.
The unfathomable things he could do that she couldn't.
It always left a bad taste in her mouth. Being left in the dust like that, especially if it were by someone close to her. Like Ron. She had no ill-will against him, but somehow, the thought of his strength gave way to the disgusting sentiments she'd been forced to feel the past few months.
There was another incident at Yamanouchi last month, where Ron's baby sister happened to be the mystic weapon Monkey Fist coveted, having summoned a being called Yono the Destroyer to boost his strength and abilities. Of course, she barely had a hand in protecting her and Ron. She was turned into stone by Yono. It was yet another incident where she was left helpless, a situation she thought she could handle with confidence since it had nothing to do with Cell or those overpowered warriors.
Hana defeated Monkey Fist, with no help from Ron and his powers. Yono accepted the loss. Of course, Kim was proud. She was happy no one was hurt. Unfortunately the same couldn't be applied to her ego. She remembered the petrification becoming undone and Ron running to help her up.
She slapped his hand away instinctively. She didn't mean to at the time, it was a mindless action, there was no thought to it. The instant regret that seeped in was unforgettable, seeing the knowing look on Ron's face. He already knew the reason, he already knew how she felt about what happened. But it did little to lessen the emotional blow when she struck him.
It certainly didn't help that before all this happened, the freckled teen fussed over her capabilities around crime fighting. All because she attended an Actuary of the Year Awards with him for his dad. Yes, he was more subtle about her "croakage" AKA her odds on dying while on missions, but did he really think so little of her abilities? All while knowing fully her thoughts on his powers? It made her livid then. She didn't like being underestimated, but to be coddled by Ron only made things worse.
The success of their past missions were mostly Ron's doing. She knew he was trying to hide it, but the presence of his powers whenever she was caught in harm's way were.. too obvious to ignore.
She was right to end their relationship when she did, because it could've gotten so much more uglier later. And she really didn't want to risk their close bond. In the event they might get back together.
She disliked admitting it, but she.. liked when he was kind of powerless. When it really felt like she could do anything.
"Watch out!" Junior shouted.
Snapping back to reality, Kim noticed the red light and the oncoming pedestrian expecting her vehicle to stop. Slamming the breaks, she stopped abruptly in front of the innocent bystander who covered the ears.
She didn't blame them, the screech of her wheels were ear splitting.
Quickly rolling down her window, she shouted an apology as the stranger sent her a look and walked off. Man, that was embarrassing. She never lost control like that, with an exception when she first started learning how to drive.
"Wow, I was really lost in thought there," Kim noted sheepishly.
Junior sighed, but he had a relieved expression. Kim didn't doubt her safety, because even if he hadn't called out, he would've stopped the vehicle in time. Some way, somehow.
It had been around two hours now.
Chi Chi finished preparing dinner for her family. After setting down the plates for her two sons, she glanced around for her husband. It wasn't unusual for Goku to be gone for training, but to miss dinner? Especially dinner made by his wife? It was odd, because it had been hours now without a prior notice.
..Not that he left prior notices in the past.
"Mom, where's dad?" Goten asked, hesitant to start eating.
"I'm.. not sure. If he's training, he'll be in a lot of trouble," she noted with slight anger.
She placed a hand on the lower side of her face, looking out the window. Usually, she would be upset, furious even. But her husband had kept a good track record the past few months. Training as scheduled, spending time with family, friends, going to work, etc. This only made her worried. Where had he gone?
As she contemplated more on the matter, it wasn't like she could do anything about it, well.. there wasn't much to do about it. It wasn't like she could find him in an instant. He was probably just running late, chatting it up with King Kai probably. Maybe sparring with Vegeta. Still, he wasn't one to skip dinner made by her.
It was likely nothing, they should just start eating.
Before they could start eating, the phone on the wall started ringing. Everyone turned toward it, but Gohan was the one to get up and answer.
"Huh? Bulma? Did something happen?" the demi-Saiyan asked, a placid expression in place until suddenly it switched. His face twisted into something serious, his posture straightening from the news.
"What is it? what did she say?" his mother questioned, her curiosity piquing from the look on her son's face.
Gohan parted from the phone slightly. "Trunks.. Vegeta, they're gone. No sign of them for hours."
Chi Chi rose a brow. "Gone? Whatever in the world could that mean?"
"I.. I don't know, they're just.. gone. She can't find them. Vegeta isn't in the gravity chamber, and we all know Trunks can't be with Goten since.." As he trailed off, he looked to Goten sitting at the dinner table.
"Well, Dad isn't home either, maybe they're all sparring together!" Goten suggested in a muffled voice, mouth full of food.
"I want to say that too but.. I don't particularly sense a fight anywhere." Gohan remembered how Cell stayed off their radar for months because he found a way to conceal his power. But this didn't seem to the the case because of what Bulma told him.
"Besides, Bulma says Vegeta was in the gravity chamber the whole time with Trunks," he continued. "When they didn't come back, she went to check and.. poof, gone."
"Oh goodness, you don't think anything bad happened, do you?" Chi Chi asked worriedly, taking a step away from the dining table.
Gohan gripped the phone tightly, but not enough to crush it with his strength. He could hear the anxiety in Bulma's voice. She elaborated further of a strange red light that appeared for around two seconds and vanished, but she didn't think much of it at the time.
"Bulma, I'll speak with Piccolo and Dende, maybe they'll have an idea what's happened. If I find something I'll keep you apprised." After hanging up, he stared at his family worriedly.
"Do you think whatever happened to them could have happened to your father?" his mother inquired with a nervous look. She didn't doubt her husband's abilities, but hearing the news of Vegeta's disappearance did give rise to newfound anxiety.
"I'm not sure, I.. don't know. It could be nothing after all, but it wouldn't hurt to check with Dende and Piccolo."
"Are you leaving now, Gohan?" Goten asked, finishing up his meal. "Can I come?"
"No Goten, it's straight to bed after finishing your food," Chi Chi answered firmly. "Let your brother handle this, I'm sure it's nothing, but I suppose it won't hurt to check. Your father is strong, but.. I have a bad feeling about this."
Meanwhile, as Gohan flew to Kami's Lookout, he pondered recent events. Firstly, he remembered Cell. Not very recent, but he was curious of where he ended up. He disappeared around last year for unknown reasons. Surely he didn't chicken out and tried to escape. Though, now that he thought about it, he was probably trying to get stronger through other means. Which meant it wasn't likely he was behind what was transpiring. As much as he hated to admit it, Cell was.. somewhat like his father in terms of their lust for battle.
..He was still pretty upset over the matter of his father's decision, but now isn't the time to worry of such things when there were matters that were paramount. Gohan was confident the chimera wasn't behind this, so.. who? He was utterly flabbergasted.
The demi-Saiyan arrived at the lookout, relief setting in as he noticed Piccolo and Dende standing atop the lookout.
Dende and Piccolo glanced up as Gohan landed nearby, already making his way toward them.
"I'm sure you've noticed it by now," Piccolo noted.
Gohan had a somewhat frustrated expression. "Yeah, it's not looking good. Doesn't look like you guys have any idea either."
"In any case, something is obviously wrong. Dende is unable to find them anywhere on Earth, so we may need to seek help from the Supreme Kai," the Namekian responded.
Dende appeared lugubrious. "I apologize, I fear my capabilities as Earth's guardian aren't enough to help."
"It's fine Dende, they might be in space for reasons unknown."
Gohan perked up. "You think it might be Cell?"
"As much as I wish it was, I don't think it's him. I fail to see a reason why Trunks would be brought along and not you."
"Well, you're not wrong," Gohan continued, beginning to pace around. "This matter is beyond our capabilities right now, you're right, we should be making contact with Supreme-"
Piccolo and Dende cut him by looking up at the sky, their acute hearing catching something rapidly coming towards them. Gohan reacted similarly and looked around only to be met with abrupt darkness.
Suddenly, the entire lookout had darkened, as of something had blocked the sun. Everyone cast their eyes above in an instant, only to be met with a blinding red light.
Kim was eating with Ron, Rufus and Junior when she received a call from Wade.
"Hey Wade, what's the si... uh, Wade?"
Her Kimmunicator was going haywire, she could see Wade but.. he was barely visible. Waves of static and discoloration danced across her screen. Bits and pieces of Wade's voice, but nothing discernible.
"Wade, I can't hear you, or see you actually," Kim noted, moving her device higher to see if it'll fix the issue.
"Maybe it's outta batteries?" Ron suggested.
"Nah, it was just replaced around Valentine's Day, remember?"
Ron could feel an invisible gut punch as he recalled Valentine's Day. It would've been his first Valentine's having a girlfriend if it weren't for last summer.
After around five minutes, the screen finally cleared up. Wade looked weary. "Man, this is the third time it's happened now."
The heroine rose a brow. "Third? Were you trying to contact us earlier?"
"Well, yeah. Only the second time, the first time I was on a call with my mom when everything starting acting up. I thought maybe something went wrong on the devices, but both were fine on our ends. I've been trying to look into it, but nothing. My only possible theory right now are sunspots."
"I hope this won't interfere with our missions," she mused, Wade sighing in reply.
"There isn't really a pattern to the interference, it's all sporadic, so hopefully the timing doesn't sync up with your missions."
"Man, what a bummer," Ron sighed. He honestly enjoyed the missions a lot more now as of late. His powers almost made it too easy.. although he didn't want to seem like he was showing off, especially when Kim was around.
"I think we'll be fine, I mean, we've been through a lot worse than minor communication interference," she continued, an idea popping up at the same time. "You ever think about consulting the Tweebs about it?"
"No, actually, that might be a good idea," Wade replied, surprised he hasn't thought of it earlier. "Last I heard, they were making their own satellite, might make communication easier.
"Their own satellite? With what supplies?" Kim questioned with suspicion, an eyebrow raised.
It was around this time the young boy decided it was time to leave. "Well! Would you look at the time! I'll contact you the next time there's a hit on the site, bye guys!" Wade waved and immediately left before Kim could further interrogate him.
As the screen went blank, the heroine simply pursed her lips and settled down in her seat. "I've got a bad feeling about this.."
"About the satellite? Well, I think it's pretty neat for their age-"
"No, Ron, I mean the sudden signal jamming. Sounds too suspicious to just shrug it off as some coincidence. Sounds like something to look more into."
"You think?"
Kim gave a firm nod. "Yeah, time to quit being complacent. I feel unsettled not doing much. Problem is, we don't have any leads."
"KP.. graduation's practically a week away, we could maybe put it off. We could uh, you know, try not to stress too much since it's around the corner? Plus, it might not even be anything! Even if it was, you could always leave it to GJ, you know?"
She nearly agreed with him, but after everything that transpired, being continuously let down; she felt like she couldn't really trust Global Justice anymore, and that went for Betty as well since L escaped.
"..I don't know."
Ron frowned slightly. It had been several months and there were trust issues that hadn't ebbed away with time. He honestly wished he could do something for her, to ease the ongoing anxiety she had. Especially since one of the biggest days of their lives was rapidly approaching.
Junior held similar, if not, the same sentiments. There was only one person responsible for the damage done, and the only solution seemed to be if he were out of the picture.. permanently.
Cell landed on Earth.
The old training ground seemed to have new growth, teeming with new wildlife. He could see craters from afar that he, alone, created, now filled with grass and other vascular plants and insects. Tree stumps with fungi and whatnot. The stubbornness of this planet never ceased to surprise him, always finding a way to live somewhere, even in the most desolate of places. It was honestly more impressive than it was annoying. Well, it was still annoying since it could be applied to a number of individuals he met.
..That he didn't want to think about at the moment.
He hadn't anticipated to return so quickly. Six months practically went by in the blink of an eye for him. The evolutionary failure that was aging didn't apply to him, he practically waited a lifetime for the androids, six months was nothing to him now. Putting that aside, he had a reason for his haste return.
The fighters of this planet were gone.
Nothing here could stop him from ravaging this planet and its inhabitants. Aside from a certain device he didn't want to think about, the Earth was practically handed to him on a silver platter.
He could start his ruthless rule, but where was the fun in that if everything was simply handed to him? He arrived just to investigate. There was no way the the protectors of this planet would disappear with him running amok. Surely they knew he wasn't a threat to be reckoned with? It was that or they weren't here by their own volition.
He did not sense a fight here in the past six months. Only the sudden absence of their energies prior to his arrival. Yes, he kept tabs on them despite departing from the planet. He found an empty planet outside the solar system and decided to train to his fullest there.
Well, it was empty now.
It was actually a few days before he decided to come back. When he first sensed their energies disappearing he thought nothing of it, but the as time went on, when the return of their energies never came, he decided to step in.
The chimera had two theories. One: they left elsewhere, which wasn't plausible. Two-
Suddenly, he could hear a twig snap. Without moving his body, his eyes flashed to the sound. With his keen eyesight, he could see a familiar silhouette in the distance. Eyes narrowing, a glower enveloped his face.
"Sorgel," he spoke in a low growl.
He let the human stroll forward. Despite how stubborn she was, he knew she was no threat so long as he maintained proper distance. He was already too familiar with her antics to kill her now.
For the umpteenth time.
"Sorry, it's just, it's been so long," she said, almost in a bashful tone. "Ahh.. it really is good to see you."
"Out with it already," Cell snapped. She was always an oddball, but her intelligence was not something to underestimate, he learned that personally.
Sorgel pulled at her collar, her face beading with perspiration. "Well, I come here routinely. At least once a day. I couldn't accept that you were gone for good!"
"I am no coward, I simply needed a change of environment."
"Without prior notice," she sighed. "You should have told me! I could have whipped something up for you!"
The bio-android's glare deepened further. "I'm sure you could have in that lowly base you humans are so proud of. Should I destroy it? Would you finally perish then?"
Sorgel just crossed her arms and shrugged. "Don't be ridiculous, Cell. I wouldn't be so dumb as to put my real consciousness anywhere near that place. I mean, it would be rather troublesome, I'll admit, but it only.. delays the inevitable." She stared at him as she spoke those last few words, a crooked grin in place.
Patience winding thin, Cell raised his hand, a finger pointed out.
Sorgel appeared upset, but for all the wrong reasons. "Wait, already?! But it's been such a long-"
A red beam shot out of his finger straight through her forehead. With two thuds, the body collapsed onto the grass, blood pooling onto the dirt below. The chimera maintained his scowl. He used to think eliminating such meager existences would be entertaining, but Sorgel had taken all the fun out of it. He lost count of the amount of times he killed her, only for her to come back every time in a new body.
He was about to blast the body away, but then the entire clearing was lit up red. Thinking quickly, he moved from his original position, an even intense red beam hit the area he was in prior to his sudden movement. He could see a device at the end of the beam, an awful reminder of his torturous imprisonment.
It was the containment device, but it wasn't at the same time. Was this a part of Sorgel's plan? Did she upgrade the contrivance and plan on distracting him long enough for this to occur? He briefly wondered if this also occurred to this planet's fighters. It would otherwise explain their sudden disappearance. There shouldn't be a reason for her to target them though. From his knowledge, their alien lineage wasn't public information.
Two green beams shot down, instead of the new and improved containment device, he was met with a familiar face and an unfamiliar one.
"Ah, I see now. It was you."
"Who else?" L asked, a smirk widening. "We detected you the second you arrived. We couldn't start our plans unless we got all of you out of the way. You're the only one left, then nothing will be able to stop us."
Daema took a few steps forward and flipped over Sorgel's body with his foot. "Ugh, you really oughta clean up your mess. Are you mortals always so messy?"
"Enough, Daema. We should focus on what's in front of us," L demanded. "I'm not starting anything until this bastard is out of the way."
Cell scoffed. "You? With your power? I can only assume you'll be using that wretched device to compensate for your weakness."
"Bullseye," said the stranger. "Sorry friend, you're just going to get in the way. But trust me, it's not personal. Well, not for me at least."
Clenching his fists, he made one decision final. After everything he had been through, especially in the last eight years, there was one thing he would never allow to happen again. One phrase was stated repeatedly in his head.
No more. Not again. Never again.
"I refuse to be contained once more," the bio-android stated, with strong conviction. If Goku and the others could not escape their clutches, then fighting them would be far too risky. As much as he hated it, he needed to flee for now.
It was a silent second. But a second that felt like eternity for the three of them. The woman thought quickly. As if predicting his plan, L briskly rose an arm.
"Get him, now!"
The ship above the clearing began aiming at Cell, the red beam instantaneously coming down on him. He vanished from their line of sight, dodging every advance the ship made against him. He needed to get out of here and come up with a plan later. There was the option of blowing the ship up, but he was unsure if L or the unknown man had a device of their own to use against him. The fact that Goku and the others were contained showed him there were multiple devices.
Cell put two fingers to his head. Instant Transmission was the only thing he could think of right now. The surface area of the ship was massive and leaving through his usual means was thrown out the window. Unfortunately, everyone with substantial energy was gone, he couldn't quickly find an energy far away enough to relocate to.
A red beam came for him once more. He moved away but his foot was struck. With rapid thinking, he sliced the lower half of his leg off with one hand while his other was still at his head. Finally, he remembered one energy they hadn't come for yet. Making his decision final, he vanished from the area. L and Daema quickly appeared to where he was at previously.
"Well?!" L asked angrily. "Did we get him?!"
Daema scratched his head, picking up the severed leg with two fingers and trying to pry the containment device off of it. "Uh... no, but! This is just a minor setback. There's only three devices left so we should target the other two before coming back for him, alright?"
The assassin balled up her fists, fighting the urge to hit the man square in the face. "Fine. Tell Warmonga to get back up for the next time we come for Cell. I don't want that over-sized cricket escaping again." She walked away from him, crossing her arms as a green beam hit her to return her back to the ship. Daema sighed and went to the spot next to hers and returned as well.
Kim and Ron arrived at her house after foiling Drakken's new plot. Ridiculous as it was, but it had to be stopped. She could hardly believe he came up with 'monster plants' as a way of taking over the world.
Junior stayed back home because she had a bad feeling he would get taken. He only pouted but accepted his fate as he remained home. He was currently in the living room watching TV as Kim and Ron conversed with Wade.
"Well, at least we know his latest plot was monster plants, so Drakken can't be behind the signal interference," she mused to herself, Ron overhearing.
"So, that's off our checklist! Can't really signal jam when you're trying to turn yourself back to normal after turning into a living human pansy."
Wade rose a brow. "What do you mean Drakken's a pansy?"
"Or marigold. Well, just around his head, shouldn't be too hard to spot," she added.
The tech genius grinned. "I'll put out feelers," he said with a laugh, receiving little reaction from the crime fighters.
"Uh.. it's kind of a botany pun?" he offered in question.
"Very limited audience," Kim replied with a grin.
Wade huffed, displeased. "I'll keep you posted." And with that, he signed off.
Ron had a pensive expression. "You think I could rock some bling for graduation?"
"Again with the nonconformity?" Kim asked, a brow raised.
"The basic black gown doesn't fit the Stoppable-dare-to-be-different lifestyle! I have an outfit back home, actually, let me go change and show you!" Ron exclaimed, jumping off the couch and going for the front door when he nearly ran into Jim and Tim.
"Whoa! Slow your roll, Ron!" Jim shouted.
"Uh yeah, precious cargo here," Tim noted, gesturing to the stereo and computer they were holding.
"My bad, but why is your 'precious cargo' Kim's stuff?" Ron asked, genuinely curious. His question quickly catching Kim's attention.
"Hey, wait a second," she started, getting up from the couch. "That is my stuff! You have ten seconds to elaborate. Now."
"We need them to create a ion-shielded satellite guidance system!" one of them quickly explained.
Kim only raised one brow. "..And the bike helmet?"
"Extra padding."
"TWEEBS!"
Before she could lunge at them, her father came into the living room in his golfing outfit, golfclubs in tow. "Morning, Kimmy-cub, I'm off to the country club, wish me luck!" he greeted her, giving her twin brothers time to dart out the house.
Kim could only watch in defeat as she greeted her father back. "Uh.. morning, Dad. Good luck!" She quickly leaned over to Junior and whispered, "Do me a solid and try and get my things back from the tweebs! We'll go for ice cream later, my treat!"
The mini chimera turned off the TV and nodded with a salute. He vanished from the chair, which she assumed meant he was doing as offered.
"Morning, Dr. P!" Ron greeted, about to head right out the door. "Also later!" He booked it to his house to grab his supposed outfit for graduation.
"Later, Ron," her father simply said, as he exited the door right after him, leaving Kim alone in the house.
Before she had a change to do anything, her watch beeped. Raising a brow, she answered it. "Uh, that was quick. What's the sitch, Wade?"
"Hit on the site, you'll never believe who," Wade replied.
"Try me."
"Capsule Corporation, Bulma Briefs," he quickly answered, causing Kim's eyes to widen.
"Wow! I've.." She appeared shocked, but finished her sentence with indifference. "..never heard of them."
Wade looked at her in surprise. "Seriously? Have you never used a capsule?"
"You mean, like a pill?"
"..Never mind. Looks like her family's gone missing, says her son mentioned you at one point which is why she went for you for help," he continued. "A few of her family friends have also gone missing around the same time period, she can't find them. With a corporation as big as hers, you'd expect they'd be found by now, but.."
"..but nothing, huh?" Kim finished.
"Yeah, she actually sent a ride to pick you up, it's coming right now," the boy said, causing Kim to jump.
"Wait, I haven't even gotten dressed, Ron and Junior aren't even here yet!"
"Well, maybe you could brief them after you come back from discussing the details with her?" he offered.
Kim appeared unsure. "..I guess so, but let me tell Junior first. I want one person to know at least."
"Gotcha, I'll reply back to the request, good luck!" He signed off shortly after.
The redhead sighed. Looked like one mission after another today.
Meanwhile, Junior had just caught up to Tim and Jim as they quickly scurried into the garage connected to their house and closing it.
"Phew! Think she knows where we are?" Jim asked.
"Nope! Even if she did, it'd be too late," Tim returned, hinting at their quick hands when it came to building their inventions. She may find them soon, but by the time she did, their satellite would already be finished and in orbit.
"Ahem!"
The two jumped, thinking they've been caught by their sister, turned only to see Junior standing idly right behind them. They both let out a sigh of relief.
"You scared the daylights out of us," they both said in unison.
Junior had a firm look, he gestured to the stolen belongings in their arms. The twins had pleading expressions.
"Whatever Kim promised, we'll double it!" Tim offered.
Jim nodded along, agreeing with his twin. "Please!"
Their pleading expressions had turned into the infamous puppy dog pout, but Junior had hardened and prepared himself for this likely event. He was about to deny their request demand Kim's possessions back until he saw that their faces had suddenly contorted into terror and fear.
The mini chimera was taken aback by their sudden behavior, but only for a split second because his senses quickly realized why they had reacted that way. He turned around briskly, only to be overshadowed by his biological father standing in their garage.
Everyone was still for a moment, holding their breath. As if exhaling would trigger a disaster. Although they had never met him, Jim and Tim knew perfectly well who this was simply by his appearance alone. After all, who wouldn't? He was appeared exactly like Junior, only bigger and green.
"So, this is where she dwells," Cell mused, mostly to himself. He hadn't acknowledged the ones still in shock and fear right in front of him.
Junior shook off his fear, and stood in front of the twins to protect them. He also noticed his father was missing a part of one of his legs, as if it were sliced off. The purple blood was dripping onto the garage floor.
The bio-android took notice of his son's conduct. "Do you really think I would waste my time harming children? Well, that depends. How do you two want to die?" he later asked the twins, their faces paling at the question.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the garage door, causing everyone except Cell to jump. "Junior, are you in there?"
Recognizing the voice, Cell's eyes darted behind him, causing Junior to react fast.
"Y-yes! Don't come in!" he quickly shouted.
Kim was surprised by the sudden request, mostly because his voice was clear indication of something amiss. "..Is something wrong?"
"Oh yes, is there something wrong?" the fiend asked the boy in a low, mocking voice, a smirk plastered on his face. He seemed to be enjoying the situation.
Junior only leaned back, not knowing how to handle the situation. Why was he here? There was no reason for him to be here, he was terrified at what could come from this sudden visit.
The heroine was only met with silence from her question. Taking matters into her own hands, she announced, "Junior, I'm coming in."
Tim and Jim were snapped out of their fear. "No, don't!" they yelled in unison.
Realizing she found them, she suspected they'd done something bad to the mini chimera for trying to return her things, only for it to be far from what was actually happening. "You tweebs! You're so busted! Once I get my hands on you, I'll-"
The garage door began opening, but Cell grabbed it and forced it shut from sheer strength, all with an evil smile on his face.
"Oh my God, I can't believe you just did that!"
The chimera turned back at the trio in front of him with his smile still in place.
"Open the garage, right now!"
"K-Kim, we-we can't!" Tim stammered, holding onto his brother for dear life.
While the chimera's hand was on the garage door, he began thinking amidst the chaos. There was no way he was going to face L and her unknown help on his own. They were somehow equipped with the only effective weapon against him. As much.. as he really, really hated to admit it..
..He required help.
With that thought in mind, it took an unimaginable amount of restraint to keep himself from wasting away everyone in here. It pissed him off just thinking about it, especially if it were from.. that human. He turned toward the garage door as he thought that, an expression of pure disgust on his face.
After concluding his thoughts, he released the door, awaiting the ensuing chaos that would occur in mere moments.
Hi guys! I'm back! Sorry.. it took so long.
...
I know I promised it would be posted around last year, but with corona and everything happening, as well as me getting my Bachelor's in Biology, I couldn't really prioritize this story for a long time.
Until now.
I really enjoyed writing this! I feel like this piece of work is going to be my baby. It's what I've been waiting to do for years. I hope you all enjoy this story as much as I do. :D
Cheers! Until next time! (Hopefully soon and not a year!)
