A/N: This story is a direct continuation of SNT the Experiment, I'd recommend you read that story first before jumping into this one. But whatever, you just thought it was cool to bend the rules. The character of SNT belongs to Courtney(ProjectSNT) on Youtube. Sonic characters belong to SEGA and Kirby characters belong to HAL Labotary. Without further interreptions, enjoy.

Prologue: Nightmare

It was late at night, the sky was covered in stars and the moon shone brightly upon the dark atmosphere. A small breeze made the tree branches move like they were alive and the sound of crickets brought only a soothing noise for the small, sleeping critters. But not everything was asleep during this time. A small pink little round ball with stubby hands and red feet was strolling through the vast forest.

This small puffball viewed every part of his surroundings, but something caught his eye. A big shuttle dropped four occupants in the distance. He quickly took pace to the sight in front of him.

You thought you could escape me?

The stranger jolted up, what just called him? Did someone find him already? He looked around to see nobody. Probably just his imagination, he ignored the words and quickly ran again.

I see… running away like a lost child.

That voice again, but where was it coming from? The pink ball stopped dead in his tracks to try and listen for anyone nearby.

Don't be frightened little one… I'm only an old friend… let your FEAR… embrace your heart…

Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, the four individuals were taking a stroll through said forest. These four consisted of anthropomorphic blue and pink hedgehog, a yellow fox and a light blue chimera. All were strolling through the endless rocky path and tall trees.

The blue hedgehog had long quills and wore red sneakers with a white strap and yellow buckle. He wore white gloves and socks though they were a bit torn up. He was known as the world-wide hero of Mobius, Sonic the Hedgehog.

The pink hedgehog had short quills with three sticking out of her forehead and wore a red dress with a white trim. She wore white gloves with gold bracelets, knee high red boots with a white stripe going downwards and a headband. She was known as Sonic's self-proclaimed girlfriend, Amy Rose.

The yellow fox had three strands of fur sticking out his forehead and wore red and white shoes. He wore white gloves and socks with black straps on each one and two fluffy tails. He was known as Sonic's best friend and mechanic, Miles 'Tails' Prower.

The light blue chimera shared features with Sonic and Tails such as the quills and twin tails, she wore a torn purple dress with a magenta trim, torn up white gloves with purple cuffs and laced shoes. She was known as Dr. Eggman's creation-now-turned-ally, SNT.

"Phew, what a thrilling night that was!" Sonic exclaimed, stretching his arms.

"If you consider almost losing our lives," Amy chimed in, "rescuing Cream, getting back the Master Emerald from Eggman's hands and defeating a giant robot from space that came out of nowhere, thrilling, I don't know what to do without you Sonic." She said with a dovie-lovie voice.

"Amy I've told you many, many, many, many, many times that I will not marry you." Sonic said sternly, "Don't forget we also had to save SNT from being roboticized."

SNT quietly nodded, she looked far into the stars gazing at all the possibilities that could exist. She quickly tripped on a small rock almost falling on her face, only for Tails to catch her last minute.

"Watch your step SNT," the fox said, "you and Sonic have sustained way too much physical damage. Don't make it harder on yourself."

"I… I'll try…" SNT assured.

The group was nearing a large red barn and orange with Tails' tails painted on the big wooden gate. Next to it was a two-storey house that resembled Tails' head and a waterwheel beside it, which distributed power for the house and a porch at the front door.

"Finally, we made it home!" Sonic exclaimed, shortly after he ran at lighting speed to the front door. But the pain surged to his legs and quickly fell on the floor, "Ow…"

Amy sighed, "This is why you always have to take it slow, Sonic" She went and helped Sonic get up.

"Your injuries are still fresh." Tails said, "Please try being more careful."

"Guys, guys I'm fine. All I need is a good night's rest and I'll be good as new." Sonic yawned, "Tails can you open the door."

"Sure." Tails obliged, he turned the knob and opened the door in.

The four friends entered the house, Tails closed the door and locked it. SNT and Amy fell on the floor from exhaustion, while Sonic fell flat on the couch.

"That was a long walk, couldn't Orbot and Cubot just have dropped us here instead?" Amy asked.

"Yes, but we would also risk letting ourselves be found easily by Eggman and possibly be attacked in the future." Tails responded.

"Good point." Amy said, getting from the floor.

SNT slowly got up from the floor too, with a bit of Tails' help.

"So where do you want to sleep SNT?" Tails asked.

"She'll sleep on the couch and that's final!" Amy interrupted.

"Amy… I don't think that's an option." The twin tailed fox said, pointing to the couch.

The pink hedgehog turned around to see Sonic passed out on the couch, snoring loudly.

Amy sighed, "Well nevermind."

"Since Sonic is sleeping on the couch, I guess... you can sleep in his room SNT." Tails suggested.

"Are… are you sure?" SNT asked.

"It's just for one night, Sonic won't mind."

The three mobians left their blue friend on the couch, it was already late at night. Without second thoughts, they went upstairs to their respective bedrooms. Tails turns back to see his friend still sleeping and snoring loudly.

"Goodnight, Sonic." Tails yawned, leaving for his bedroom...

"Is that all you got, Egghead?" Sonic taunted.

"I've got plenty more where that came from, you blue rodent!" Robotnik yelled.

Sonic prepared another spin dash to finish off the egg-shaped scientist's gigantic mech. The mech resembled the doctor himself to a tea. It had a metallic mustache, a red nose, even a toothy grin. Spikes in place of hands and a jetpack with two nozzles.

Robotnik aimed his mech's left arm at Sonic and fired its lower arm like a missile. The blue blur dodged effortlessly and spin dashed into the mech's chest, leaving a gaping hole in the machine. Eggman's machine started convulsing and spazzing out.

"NOO! How can this be?!" Eggman yelled, the mech then exploded sending him high to the air "You'll never get away with this!" His voice trailed off into the distance.

"Another job well done." Sonic said to himself.

"YAY! SONIC!"

"Thank you for saving us!"

"Can I have your autograph?!"

"Do you want my und-?!"

A crowd of Sonic's fans gathered around in front of their savior. All talking over each other, not letting anyone speak.

"Hey, hey, one at a time." Sonic said, "I'm not going… anywhere…"

Behind the crowd of Sonic's "Adoring" fans, the blue hedgehog could see something, or someone… unpleasant. Sonic could see a tall figure towering over everyone.

Its lower arms were long, almost touching the ground. It had a glowing red visor that covered a majority of its face with a glimmer on its right eye, and four tentacles with red eyes and yellow irises.

The speedy hedgehog shook his head and rubbed his eyes, as one single question lingered in his head. Where did that guy come from? Suddenly, a purple mist began circulating around the area. Sonic couldn't see anything and the voices of his fans were becoming muffled. Agonizing screams and the sounds of flesh and bones being torn apart filled the blue hedgehog's ears.

Sonic covered his ears and clenched his eyes shut, hoping it would be over soon, "Please, whatever you are, stop!"

The hedgehog pleaded, but his cries went on deaf ears as the screams of agony continued.

"Please stop! They don't need to be involved in this!" He pleaded once again. But the screams continued alongside the sound of explosions. Soon followed with distorted laughter.

"What are you?!" Sonic yelled amidst all the sound.

To Sonic's surprise the screams, explosions and laughter stopped and a voice trailed into Sonic's ear like a whisper.

Don't be frightened child… I'm only an old friend… Let your FEAR... embrace your heart...

Those words struck the blue blur's heart, what was this voice talking about?

"Who are you?" Sonic demanded.

Open your eyes… And see for yourself…

Sonic did as he was told, he opened his eyes and uncovered his ears. To his surprise the fog was no longer there and screams were silenced. But that was the least of his worries. Upon opening his eyes, Sonic was presented to an unpleasant setting.

"Wh- Huh!"

The fog that once blinded him was replaced with a city covered in flames. Corpses of humans and mobians were scattered across the street, cars crashed into buildings making them unstable and purple flames scattered all around the blue hedgehog.

Sonic shivered at the sheer sight of it all. There were no survivors, all of their bodies were torn to pieces or were burning to ashes. All the blue blur could do was solemnly stare at what was presented.

Is this what you so desperately fight against? Is this what you fear most... child?

"Grrr, stop calling me a child!" Sonic yelled, "And for your information, mr. talks-in-my-head, this is not my first time handling a god of destruction! I've experienced much worse!"

I know... I've seen it all… Perfect Chaos, Metal Overload, Solaris, Dark Gaia and even the witch Merlina... The only foes who truly tested your limits…

"Y- How'd you?!" Sonic stuttered.

You seem rather puzzled at my knowledge... If you want the answers… Find me…

The voice trailed off into the distance. Sonic shook his head and rubbed his eyes, unsure of what just happened.

"Alright, keep it together, it's just a dream." The blue blur reassured himself, "I'll just pinch myself and wake up."

Sonic proceeded to pinch himself on his left shoulder, he winced despite it not being that painful.

Sonic shot up from the couch, panting and sweating heavily. He was still in the house's living room

"I feel... drained, maybe some water could help." Sonic whispered.

He got up and walked towards the kitchen to get a cup of water. He opened a cabinet with multiple paper cups and plastic plates of varying sizes. Sonic grabbed a small cup and poured some water into it and took a swig.

The blue hedgehog looked out the window to get the FEAR out of his mind. He stared at the forest nearby the workshop.

"Man, talk about a rough dream." Sonic said to himself, "I never experienced something so… surreal? Is that what you call it?"

Yes… Child…

Sonic's eyes widened and his pupils shrunk, dropping the cup onto the floor spilling its contents. That voice, it's still here, but how?! The hedgehog thought and shook his head. He looked away from the window to get more water. Sonic grabbed another cup and took a shot. He stared at the window once more, but he soon realized something was… off about it.

The trees were marked with "Ns" all over their trunks, the leaves were decaying and falling rapidly on the grassy field, a small gust of wind swept the leaves and branches, and dark clouds began to form around the workshop. A small spider descended from the ceiling and landed on Sonic's head, which prompted him to sweep the small arachnid and back away. The kitchen sink started to spaz out, as a silver-grey liquid shot out from the drain.

The liquid splattered onto the ceiling and dropped onto the floor, beginning to take a humanoid-esque shape, sprouting tendrils from its back and let out a loud screech. The blue hedgehog quickly got up and took up a fighting stance.

"I don't know what you are, but you're not going anywhere!" Sonic exclaimed.

The creature 'laughed' at its opponent's warning and lunged at him. Sonic quickly dodged the attack, throwing a punch at the humanoid. The monster simply took the blow, as Sonic's arm was caught in its liquified body. The blue blur tried to pull himself out, but the creature's tendrils pulled into its body. Sonic fought back but tried as he might, he was pulled into the monster's body.

The creature let out a monstrous screech, turning back to where it once came. The monster walked back to the busted up kitchen sink, but just as it was about to leave. The humanoid's body rumbled and Sonic spin dashed his way out of the monster.

Finally out of that monster's body, Sonic sighed in relief. The creature left through a pipe working, unknown to where it would be headed next. But that was the least of his worries.

Lightning bolts began striking the house, setting it ablaze, fire began eating every inch of it. Nothing was safe. Sonic ran upstairs to help his friends amidst the flames in his path, but one of the stairs broke and the blue hedgehog got his foot stuck in.

"Come on, come on, not now!" Sonic pulled his leg, but couldn't get it out.

Wooden planks fell on the second floor blocking the path to the bedroom. The fire began approaching Sonic every second. The blue blur watched as the fire began eating the staircase.

"So this is the end, huh?" Sonic asked himself, "No, I'm not giving up just yet." He then proceeded to do a spin dash and smashed his way through the wooden boards. Sonic expected to come out of the house, but he did not.

"Nonononononono!" Sonic felt the flames consumed him, covering his entire body from top to bottom. Each second being more painful than the last, as his fur burned away and hispeach colored skin received second degree burns. Sonic could feel his very life being sucked out of body. He fell to the ground and let fire slowly consume him and the house.

Sonic woke up once again, but not in his home. His surroundings were rather dark. Nothing was there, no buildings, no people, not even an insect. Darkness was the only thing present for the blue hedgehog. He tried getting up, but he winced in pain as the burns from the previous dream carried over.

"Okay what's your game here dark-lord-wannabe?" Sonic asked, "You know all these adventures I went through, even the ones I don't remember at all. You think putting through some weird messed up dream is going to scare me? Here's your answer, I can take whatever you throw at me! I defeated some of the most powerful beings in my world. So go ahead, no matter what you do. I will never break!"

There was no response.

"Yeah, that's what I thought! Next time pick someone your own-" Sonic's words were cut off as something struck him from behind. He picked himself up only for the same thing to strike him again. He tried getting up again, but something pinned him to the ground.

You are fascinating… Hero… Your courage… Your determination… Your stubbornness…

Sonic clenched his fists, "Stubborn! I'll show you who's stubborn around here!" He performed a spin and destroyed the thing that pinned him down.

Now free, Sonic looked around to find where voice was coming from. He maintained a keen eye for anything that moved. Until he bumped something from behind, he turned around to see the tall figure, the one that appeared in Robotropolis, the one who appeared in this dream and the one who put him in this never ending Nightmare.

The figure was nine feet, nine inches tall. He wore dark purple armor with washed out gold highlights. Long golden spikes were attached to his shoulders and knees. A helmet with rhomboid-shaped horns, a red visor and mouthplate covered his face. The arms were almost to the ground. He wore a purple cape attached to his waist and four tentacles with robotic claws and red eyes sprouted from his back.

Sonic stared at the person standing right before him, his first instinct was to spin dash him to bits for all the things it put him through. But something in his head told him to stay back. Almost like the whispers of his friends.

"Sonic stay back!" The voice of Tails said.

"You can't win right now." Amy's voice warned.

"He's too dangerous!" Knuckles' said in the hedgehog's head.

"Please Sonic… Don't do it…" SNT's voice pleaded.

But the blue blur didn't listen, "You think using my friends is gonna stop me?! Well, bad news for you! I'm not gonna let you harm anyone else, prepare to taste defeat!" He readied a spin dashed and launched his body towards the tall armored figure.

But the figure disappeared in the blink of an eye. Reality began breaking apart around Sonic, he felt his movements being slowed down to crawl. After images of his movements surrounded the blue blur as he was locked in motion. The surrounding darkness reformatted around the hedgehog as he stopped dead in his tracks.

Sonic looked around for the tall figure again, but he was nowhere to be seen. The speedster took a fighting stance as he waited for… Him. The armored figure reappeared behind Sonic, he raised his sharp clawed hand and prepared to slice the unsuspecting hedgehog. The blue blur turned around and narrowly avoided the attack, but the tip of its fingers reached his body and scratched off bits of his belly.

Sonic screamed in pain, clutching his stomach. The armored figure approached the injured hedgehog menacingly, blood dripping from his hand. The speedster tried getting back up, but one of the appendages from his back grabbed Sonic in its claw. The hedgehog struggled in its grasp, as the tentacle brought him closer to the armored figure.

Sonic tried to pry the claw open, but its strength far exceeded his. The tall man hoisted the blue hedgehog to his level and stared at him emotionlessly. Sonic tried not to look at the man, but another one of its tentacle claws grabbed his head and forced him to look at the tall figure. The two exchanged glares, everything seemed silent.

But that was when a strange red aura surrounded the armored man. Sonic tried to look away, but he couldn't, his muscles wouldn't budge, he felt tired and his eyes slowly shut. A single word whispered in the hedgehog's mind.

FEAR… FEAR… FEAR… FEAR…

Sonic with the little energy he had, asked, "Who… are you…" he lowered his head and fell asleep.

The armored man let go of Sonic and dropped him on the floor. Where the hedgehog would rest for the remainder of the night.

I am everywhere...

I am the thunder and lightning in the storm…

I am the spider that crawls on your skin…

I am the creature of the shadows…
