"Let's go then!" Kim winked before pulling on her clothes and grabbing some pillows before heading back inside.
They warmed up right away, the house had the heat turned on lightly to keep the chills out. They walked towards the bedroom wrapped in each other's arm. Kim giggled as they got closer as Adams hands were alright moving her shirt up trying to feel more skin. As they reached the bedroom Adam picked Kim up laying her on the bed face down. "Yup. We have the house for a few more days so we can even finish tomorrow and the cleaning company will clean it at the end of week. It's listed in a rental program and I have to keep it in the rental program for at least 90 days. But I plan on renting it out year round. We have two closets that we can keep stuff in so we don't have to pack as much. Those closets have separate keys that only we will have access to. So we could keep the sheets and towels here for next time." Kim explained as she ate her breakfast.
"That's great! So it basically will pay for itself in the long run. I love that! Especially since I'm still active with my sport and probably won't be able to come down a lot in the summer if at all. Very smart move darling!" Adam leaned over to kiss her forehead. After they finished eating they loaded the dishwasher and started it running. They moved the sheets to the dryer and made the bed before moving their items to the car and heading towards the kids. They were excited to see the kids. This was the longest they had been away from the kids since Lily joined their family.
They arrived at the rental home quickly and headed inside seeing only a few people up and moving. The kids were all sitting together eating breakfast quietly. "Hi babies!" Kim called out as she got closer. "Mommy! Daddy!" Both kids cried out as they ran towards their parents. "Were you guys good for grandpa Hank?" Adam asked already knowing the answer. "Yes!" They both cheered. Voight entered the room with Lily in his arms. "They were good as always. Though Emma is upset about missing Halloween." Voight said softly. Adam took Lily from Hank before sitting at the table with the kids. "So kids I thought maybe today we could go get some customs and tonight we could go trick or treating. What do you think?" Adam asked as Jackson cheered and Emma burst into tears.
"Emma what's wrong sweetheart?" Kim was so concerned by this reaction. "I thought you forgot! It's my first one and I thought you forgot!" She cried into Kim's shoulder as Kim tried to calm her down. "We didn't forget. I even called around to find some good neighborhoods to go to. And I didn't know this was your first one. But I promise it will be fun okay." Kim wiped her tears away as Emma started to smile again. "Okay sweet girl let's finish breakfast and then get you guys dressed and we will head out." Kim got her settled into her seat again before getting some Lily loving.
"Erin, Jay. We are going trick or treating tonight if you guys wanted to come with and bring Grace?" Kim offered up knowing Grace heard the whole situation with Emma and Jackson. "Yeah that sounds great. I'm sure Grace would love to go. We will head out in a bit to shop for something to wear." Erin was excited to dress up her daughter in something fun. "We are heading out soon too. I think walmart is the best shot down here since target isn't open yet." Kim explained as she cleaned up after the kids. "Sounds good. Hopefully they have done stuff that will work for the kids." Jay sounded not so hopeful but they wouldn't show it to the kids.
Shortly after the kids were dressed and ready to head out. They made their way around the room saying bye to all the adults. They were excited to spend time with their parents and to get ready for Halloween. Once they got into the car the kids starting telling their parents everything that happened over the last day. Kim and Adam were happy to hear that the kids had done so well while they enjoyed their getaway. The kids had gone bowling, to the arcade, mini golfing and for ice cream. They had a blast that's for sure. They also got to pick out the movie last night for family movie night. In other words the kids were spoiled rotten.
They arrived at the store and headed inside to see what was left over. Luckily there were quite a few options for each kid and they ended up getting Jackson a cop uniform, Emma a fairy outfit and Lily was a bug. Was it perfect no but the kids were thrilled. They also got the kids pumpkins to put candy in. Emma wanted some sparkly make up so Kim found some in the make up section that was specific for kids. After they finished shopping they took the kids over to the house to show them around. At first the kids were slightly confused. "So we own this house too? Are we going to live here?" Jackson asked as he looked around. "Yes we own it but we won't be living here often. We will be here for vacations. And other people can stay here when we aren't using it. Then when daddy retires we will come here more often." Kim tried to explain in a way that would make sense to a child. "Oh okay so can we change our rooms then?" Emma asked. "Maybe a little but we don't want to go to crazy since we won't be here a lot. I promise you an pick out your bedding, pillows and your beach chairs Okay?" Kim really didn't know how to say no about that. The kids seemed okay with it though.
As they continued to show the kids around they got the wash done and decided to leave the now clean sheets and towels here in the owners closet. It was easier for later and less to repack. The kids were also happy that they could see the ocean from the house and Jackson had the same look on his face as Kim when watching the water. It was obvious he took after Kim with the ocean obsession. Around lunch time they headed back to the rental to rejoin the group and eat lunch with everyone. The kids showed off their customs and were overly excited for tonight. The adults seems to not be fazed by all the excitement and played along with the kids.
"So I have some questions about the World Series tickets. Like how is this working for us?" Kenny asked hoping he didn't have to pay for them as they were not cheap. "Well first off it's on me. I got a suite. The food is included as are drinks. I will send each of you your ticket in an email. The game is Wednesday night so I thought we would drive up Tuesday at some point, stay at a hotel that I booked rooms at and then spend the next day in philly till the game starts. I don't know what food is included but I got the basic package with enough to feed all of us." Adam explained. "Okay so it's burgers, hot dogs, cheesesteaks, chicken fingers, salad, chips, cookies, soft pretzels, beers, soda, water, juice and ice cream. At least that is what I had the last time I was in a suite for a Phillies game. It's the standard." Kim added getting looks from everyone.
"Also there is a separate entrance for the Suite level. You can always go explore to get other food options but you always have to use the special entrance for the suite level and they check tickets. Each suite has a private bathroom and can be closed off if it's cold out. I will warn everyone now. It will be loud, it will be crazy and their will be cursing. It's the standard in Philly. Fireworks will go off with home runs and with the win. Also at the end of the game I will not leave till Harry Kalus sings High Hopes. It's tradition." Kim explained further and now everyone seemed super excited for the game. They talked further about specialty items found at the ball park and things to do in the city that people might enjoy. "My only request Adam is that we take the kids to the cafe we met in. It only seems right." Kim was firm in her request but knew Adam wouldn't deny her anything especially that. "Completely agree!" Adam kissed her softly before helping to clean up the dishes.
Once the kitchen was cleaned up everyone went their own way trying to enjoy as much of North Carolina as they could before they left. Adam and Kim took the Kim kids down to the beach to play in the sand for a bit before they needed to get ready for trick or treating. Both kids were excited for the nights adventures. Till then the kids made sand castles and threw a frisbee around till it was time for dinner. Once they arrived back at the house they cleaned the sand off the kids and brought them in to make some dinner. It was a simple meal trying to use up the food that was left over. Dinner was filled with lots of chatter about Halloween. And who was going to get more candy. It was funny how excited they were over something so simple.
They cleaned up after dinner and took the kids to their room to start getting ready. Both kids literally jumping up and down. "Okay guys you have to stop jumping so we can get you guys dressed. Calm down some." Adam tried to get them calm but even after they stopped jumping they excitement was still simmering inside them. The kids finally got dressed and Emma's makeup was done. Once Grace saw Emma's makeup she wanted that too so Erin did her makeup so they could head out. As they arrived at the first street they parked the cars and decided to walk between the houses. "All right lets start walking!" Kim started as they each took a kids hand to start walking towards the first house.
As they arrived at the first house the excitement had turned into nerves for Emma. She was scared to leave her parents. Her grip became very tight and strong. "Hey Em. How about we walk to the first house with you so you can see it's not a big deal Okay?" Adam knelt in front of her. Grace was already onto the next house so the families split so it wasn't an issue. Adam held onto Emma's hand as they walked towards the front door. Jackson rang the doorbell with ease as Emma was half hidden behind Adams legs. When the door opened Emma gasped in fear but the excitement on Jackson's face when he got candy helped ease her a bit. Adam helped bring her from behind so she could also get candy. "Well aren't you an adorable little fairy!" The women said softly seeing how scared Emma was. "Can you say thank you Emma?" Adam asked. She whispered it barely audible. "Sorry it's her first time and she's scared." Adam apologized to the women who seemed to understand.
As they hit more houses the nerves turned into excitement again and both kids ran right up to each door, ringing the bell and even speaking to the adults who answered. Adam and Kim were so proud of how far Emma came just in a few hours. They ended up going to several streets before heading back to the house. The kids were exhausted and honestly so were Kim and Adam. Both kids fell asleep in the car on the way home so Kim headed inside to ask someone to help grab the sleeping kids with Adam so she could feed Lily. Kevin headed out to grab Jackson while Adam took Emma. Once they were in their bedroom Adam took over changing the kids into their jammies for the night. The candy brought upstairs away from the kids. The Halstead's were also home and looked just as tired as Kim and Adam.
As the group relaxed for the night Kim decided to watch some World Series baseball. She wanted everyone to see just how crazy it truly was in Philly. They watched in shock at how loud the crowd was and how crazy the fans got with chants and heckles. It was fun as hell for Kim though. She even saw on Instagram that the crowd was so loud after a home run it shook the ground hard enough that it registered as an Earthquake. Philly was a crazy town and this was the proof. After the win everyone headed to bed for the night. Tomorrow was a travel day so they needed a good nights sleep. After packing up their room Kim and Adam feel into a deep sleep in each other's arms.
