Over the next couple of months the team had taken down a lot of the people from the list and Malcolm Merlyn was fuming. He didn't know how these vigilantes knew about the list, but they did somehow and they were taking down everyone that was helping him with his plans for the Undertaking.
He called Moira into his office and she could see how unhappy he was with the way that things were going. She shut the door behind her once she entered the office. She went and sat down in one of the chairs that were on the other side of Malcolm's desk and waited for him to start talking.
"Hello Moira. Thanks for coming." Malcolm said with as much of a smile as he could.
"Hello Malcolm. So, what is this about?" Moira asked.
"I am sure you have been paying attention to these vigilantes on the news. They are taking down people from the list. I was wondering if you had any idea how they would have heard about it?" Malcolm asked.
"I have no idea, even though I have been listening to the news and I came to the same conclusion that you have. They need to be stopped." Moira said.
"I am glad that we agree on that. What do you think we should do?" Malcolm asked.
"I think maybe your enforcer should call out the vigilantes and take them all out." Moira said hoping that things would go the other way around and the vigilantes would take out the enforcer and then come after Malcolm while he is weak.
"That is a good idea, Moira. They are not up to par with my enforcer. It should be easy work for him." Malcolm said, always thinking he was the best, even when he wasn't.
"Good. Will there be anything else Malcolm?" Moira asked.
"Just try to come up with some way to figure out who these vigilantes are. Other than that, no." Malcolm said and Moira dismissed herself from his office.
. . .
Later that night, Malcolm was dressed as his enforcer and he was taking hostages at a warehouse. He turned on his camera and hacked into all of the television and started with his message to the vigilantes.
"I am here to call out the vigilantes who are trying to save this city. If you continue to try and stop my employer's plans, I will continue taking hostages until you stop. If you want to save these hostages, be at the old warehouse by the bay in an hour. If you are not, I will start killing a hostage every 30 minutes." the Dark Archer said.
Oliver and the team were watching from the bunker. He turned to them all and saw that they were getting ready to go as well. He then turned to Thea and she knew that he had questions.
"Did this happen the last time around?" Oliver asked.
"Yes. But last time around it was at Christmas. We must be going faster this time around if we are already being called out." Thea said.
"Well, let's go and finish this then." Oliver said and he and the team left to go and take down the Dark Archer.
. . .
Fifteen minutes later, the team was all on the roof across from the warehouse. Green Arrow and Artemis both shot a grappling arrow and then they all glided across into the warehouse. Once they were inside, they started to untie the hostages and Black Canary and Arsenal led them to the roof. It didn't take long for the Dark Archer to make himself known.
He fired an arrow at Artemis and she caught it and turned it around and shot it back at him and he dodged it. "Maybe this will be a challenge after all." the Dark Archer said.
"You have no idea." Artemis said as she and Green Arrow moved in to attack.
Spartan stayed back a touch and tried to get in a shot with his gun, but it didn't penetrate the Dark Archer's armor. The Dark Archer was finding out that he had underestimated the two archers that he was fighting because they were holding their own against him and it even looked like they might have been trained by the League of Assassins themselves.
It didn't take long for the two heroes to overwhelm the Dark Archer and have him on the ground in front of them. The camera was still going so that the public could see when the Dark Archer took down the vigilantes. Green Arrow pulled the Dark Archer up to his feet and pushed him over to the camera and started to talk.
"Tonight we end what was known as the Undertaking. We want you to know who the true person was behind this plan." Green Arrow said as he pulled the hood and mask off of the Dark Archer to reveal that it was none other than Malcolm Merlyn.
"Malcolm Merlyn has been trying to destroy the Glades for years. We have now put a stop to him. If anyone who was working with him on this project tries to continue with his plans, we will stop you as well. We already know who you are. This is your only warning." Green Arrow said as he turned off the camera and Spartan came up to them and started to tie Merlyn up so that he would be waiting for the police when they made their way into the warehouse.
"Let's get out of here." Green Arrow said as he punched Merlyn and knocked him out.
. . .
Once the team made it back to the bunker they all changed and then met each other back out in the common area. They were happy with what they had accomplished that night, but they had a feeling that this wasn't over. Of course they knew that there was a lot of work left to do. They had to still take down most of the members of the list and keep an eye on the members of Tempest so that they would know whether they needed to be taken down as well.
"How did things end with Merlyn last time?" Oliver asked his sister.
"We all thought that you killed him, but you didn't. He escaped and was a pain in the ass for the rest of his life." Thea said.
"Do you think a prison will hold him?" Laurel asked.
"I don't know. We will have to find out. For now, let's just take this as a win and go after some more people on the list, because they caused a lot of problems as well." Thea said and all of the team nodded and then they all planned on who they were going to go after next.
