Last time we left off, Kooper and Noiwave, on their hunt for Kalvin, continued deep into the moonlight of Napoleon. They take a rest at Forsaken Forest: Napoleon's… well… abandoned forest. It intrigued Kooper with its haunting yet gorgeous setting. They settled down for the evening, all huddled up next to a campfire. In conclusion, tomorrow they're gonna make things right.
Kooper holds Noiwave. "Despite no breaks, I'm determined."
"Thanks for helping, Kooper. With the stakes in our dimensions, are you scared of whatever happens next?"
"Absolutely… despite our differences, I must put that aside and help Kalvin… for Ursel, Latias, and your irreplaceable family."
"However… I need help to confront my family, especially after my outburst earlier."
"Right behind you, Noiwave."
Kooper scratches Noiwave's fluffy neck. She wags her tail.
"My most valuable friend. Love you, little dude." Noiwave kisses his snout.
Likewise, Kooper hugs Noiwave in return. They share their goodnights. As Noiwave wraps Kooper in her wings. Next morning, Noiwave handed some Poke to Kooper, asking him to buy her some items at Pivot Town. He heads to the market and meets the store owner, a Zoroark, with a cloak and party hat.
"Long time no see, Kooper. How may I help you today, little guy?"
"I miss you, Zandophen, I like to buy-" Kooper pauses. "What did you call me?"
Memories flood Kooper's mind, slouching on Zandophen's counter. Thus, the Napoleon folk gather around the market with worry. Prior to Celetris between Aurafu's presumed death and Kooper's return home, the archaeologist isolated himself outside of rescue missions.
Loading Shadowset Sands.
A beach on the west of Celetris. Known for Pokemon washups, and its pitch black sand.
"Little guy, why are you out here dead in the night?"
Kresin the Zoroark cautiously walked up to Kooper.
"Don't have a genuine answer, old friend."
"Old friend? It's only been five months, Kooper-"
"Five months of what, huh!?"
"Kresin, Aurafu is counting on you." The Zoroark talks to himself, thinking how to lift Kooper's spirts.
"… Hey, let's talk. I understand that it's been trying times ever since you entered Celetris. Despite our loss with Aurafu, I know he intended us all to try our best every day. Tomorrow may not be great, yesterday may have been traumatic. That doesn't mean we'll give up today."
"It's nighttime. Today's almost over."
The Zoroark falls over himself. "You're missing the point, Kooper. You never wished for these misadventures, and I promise it will end someday."
"For a dark type, you're the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you, Kresin."
Kresin wrapped his arms around Kooper and pulled him into a tight hug.
Flashing forward, Zandophen bonks Kooper's head, snapping him out of the flashback.
"I gasp loudly." Says Kooper.
"Are you speaking in the third person? Good Arceus. Why did you blank out, Kooper? Was it something I said?"
"Sorry, Zandophen, for a nomad. I feel homesick. I have to get back to Celetris, fast!"
"You'll make it Kooper. Everyone in Napoleon believes in you!" Zandophen looks down, holding Kooper's hands.
The Napoleon residents all cheer for Kooper, filling the Koopa Troopa with determination. Noiwave gave him only a thousand Poke, and he spent it on four Oran Berries and a single Reviver Seed.
"Thank you for your service, Kooper. There's a small gift I have for you."
Pulling the short Koopa up, Zandophen unties Kooper's old, burnt scarf and replaces it with an identical scarf.
"You restored my iconic look!" Kooper jumps for joy.
"Anytime. Just stay safe and get them before they get you, okay?" Zandophen tilts his head.
"Same to you, friend!" Kooper salutes the Zoroark.
"Safe travels!" Zandophen waves goodbye.
Kooper races back to Forsaken Forest, ecstatic to meet Noiwave at the campfire. Unfortunately, when he returned, she wasn't there.
"Maybe she wandered off to the bushes for a bathroom break?" Kooper shrugs.
With his time alone, Kooper pulls out his Gameboy Horror to contact Ursel. Unfortunately, it suffered water damage when he and Noiwave got hit by lightning at Lightning Lagoon. Kooper reacted by shaking his Gameboy, shushing it childishly.
"SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-"
A faint bang would interrupt his endless shushing.
"Woah!" He jumps. "Alright, let's get this over with."
Leaving his Gameboy at the campfire, he dashes deeper into the forest, eventually coming across a stunning arch bridge above a river. The bridge spans 149.1 feet on a single arch, basically made of medieval stone, making it possible to cross the river from one side to the other.
"This place looks so beautiful. If only I could experience this with Noiwave." Kooper takes a deep breath. "The air even smells like her… creepy."
Oblivious to his surroundings, Kooper continued admiring this chilling, beautiful forest. Light footsteps and smoke creeped onto the bridge.
"Batter up Kooper Shellcreeper! You're about to die. Let's go!"
Thus, Kooper's head gets bashed by a baseball bat and a Noivern bat, sending him flying off the bridge and into the river, bloody and bruised.
"Kalvin! There you are!"
"Damn straight I am!" Kalvin confirmed. "Were you looking for this stinky bat?"
Kalvin held an unconscious Noiwave up, covered in ashes and burn marks. Kalvin had a feral, manic look in his eyes and a purple aura around his body. He jumps off the bridge to strike the fellow Koopa. In the knick of time, Kooper takes out his Star Rod rod to block the attack, pulls the reviver seed out of his shell, and chucks it onto the bridge, reviving Noiwave.
"Dammit! My head is pounding."
"NOIWAVE! Help me!"
Noiwave lifts herself up to witness Kalvin attempting to drown Kooper, forcing his head into the water.
"You little bastard! I don't care if you're possessed by a Void Shadow. Your ass is grass!"
Then the Noivern attempts to dive kick Kalvin, which he accordingly blocks using Kooper as a shield, consequently hurting her best friend by mistake.
"For shame, Noiwave. Stomping on Koopa's is so cliche," he critiques.
"Okay, critic. How about you backup your critiques by kicking my ass?"
He throws Kooper to the side. "Your deflected criticism, stinky bat."
"It's 'you're,' idiot!"
After some more banter, the two finally duke it out. No mercy. Noiwave avoids all contact in the air, but not for long once Kalvin threatens to harm Kooper. She swoops in to grab Kooper, setting him onto the bridge.
"Noiwave, wait! Don't put me on the sidelines." Kooper pulls out some Oran berries. "We can free Kalvin from this evilness."
While Kooper munches on an Oran berry, Noiwave taunts Kalvin atop the bridge, turning around and wagging her tail. Kalvin got irritated quickly and assumes a dark red tint while his bomb wick ignites on his black shell. Air born again, Noiwave dangles herself just out of Kalvin's reach.
"Just let me bash you like a Piñata and collect your guts like candy!" Kalvin's attitude changed from condescending to morbid.
"You fail at life, suicide bomber! Us Noivern's rule this kingdom. SCEEEEE!" Noiwave screams.
Kalvin interrupted her screeching by somersaulting forwards with his baseball bat following a circle pattern, which then transitions into an upward strike followed by a downward strike and ultimately spiking her into the cold dirt. Kooper revolves into his shell and Kalvin to disorient him, and causing him to fall over comically.
"We finished the fight without even touching him. All safe and sound-"
"KOOPER, LOOK OUT!"
Despite being in peril, Kalvin grabs Kooper by the leg and uses self-destruct, taking both Koopa Troopas out. The Void Shadow escapes from Kalvin's body and drowns in the river, disintegrating.
"MY BABY!" Noiwave screams out for Kooper's name, her voice sounding motherly. "This wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for me! But I can't panic now. Ursel was counting on me."
Without hesitating, she carries both Koopa's in her wings and holds Kalvin's baseball bat in her mouth. And with that, she was heading back home, speaking of.
Loading Noiwave's old home…
Back at her home, Nurrin was eating her feelings away with cold pizza. Nigel attempted to comfort her, but to no avail.
"Nigel, you think Noiwave has been avoiding us ever since she finished school?"
"Keep in mind, she left the family nest and Noiwave still came by sometimes," Said Nigel.
"But she never looked this unhinged. Why did Noiwave lash out at Kalvin when he struggled to open up? That boy was cheeky, but was fond of us. Where did you find Kalvin, Nigel, my dearie?"
A subtle knock on their door halted Nigel from answering her question. Both Noivern knew who it was. They flinched. Nigel walked up and held the doorbell, his eyes closed.``
"… Noiwave… is that you?"
"P-please help us, Nigel. I f-feel so weak."
Concerned for his sister's well being, Nigel opens the door to see a tired Noiwave carrying Kooper and Kalvin.
"Just take them into your care. I'm begging you, brother."
"… Just some context." Nigel keeps a calm diameter. There was no judgment, no lashing out, just taking the Koopa Troopa into his care .
"Long story short, me and Kalvin got into a big fight. His anger got the best of him. Nigel, Auntie… no amount of apologizing can ever fix me lashing out at Kalvin."
"It speaks volumes you've brought him back. Bless your heart, sister."
Their auntie was hearing over their conversation with a feeling of relief and concern. The old Noivern rushes and grabs Kooper and Kalvin to nurse them. Their eyes x'd out. The stress within her movements.
"A-Auntie… I'm at a loss for what to say… All I have to say is… I'm sorry for giving up on you…" Noiwave tears up.
"Nigel, my dearie, could you please take care of these boys?" Nurrin asked.
"Right away, Auntie!"
Nigel takes over in aiding the small Koopas as Nurrin confronts Noiwave, bringing her face down towards her mane.
"Noiwave, as long as you don't become an evil, nasty Noivern like your parents and always try your best, I can't ever be mad towards you."
"Really? Oh, Auntie!" Noiwave hugs her. "You were always more of a mother to me! Not spending more time with you and Nigel was the biggest mistake I committed."
"Shh, it's okay… don't feel bad about leaving the nest, Noiwave. That's just a part of growing up and I just really, really miss you, honey. For always and forever, we will always love you, Noiwave. And promise us you won't forget."
"…I won't."
The reunited Noivern's embrace each other with a relieved Nigel watching.
"Our family is back together and life goes on!" Said Nigel.
"The Noivern reunion can wait. We got some Koopa's healing."
Nigel and Nurrin simply nod and put all their attention on the Koopa's, resting them into a nest, drying their outfits and wiping the ashes off.
"I'm puzzled. How can we find Bowser and Giratina? They can be in any dimension," Noiwave thought.
"Giratina? That sounds like bollocks, my sister." Said Nigel.
"Than how did Kalvin get revived, hmm?"
Nigel became silent and brushed up aghast a wall.
"Nigel? It isn't like you to become this timid. What's wrong dearie? We won't get angry." Nurrin asked.
"Promise not to tell Kalvin that I told you about this, okay? Before the Napoleon Castle fire last night, I reunited with Kalvin, still a Dry Bones. And this Bowser character you speak of pointed me towards the castle and stating Kalvin was going to be there. And after being tricked into bringing Kalvin back to the dead, he's hellbent on killing the boy!"
"HE DID WHAT!?" Noiwave shouted. "Kalvin may not like me, but I won't let that boney bastard Bowser lay a claw on him, even if it kills me!"
"That's really selfless of you, Noiwave, but how are we gonna find him? Like you said, he may not even be in this dimension," Nigel feared.
"Time is ticking, let's try to find him! Auntie, could you please stay here and watch over Kooper and Kalvin? I don't want you getting hurt, but also wouldn't want someone to snatch them up. And Arceus knows that kidnapping is getting old."
"This old Noivern still has tricks under her wing, and you know I'll protect them at all costs. Now go! Aspire to be the explorers and heroes you two always wanted to be!"
"We will Auntie, we will." Noiwave smiles.
With their aunt's engorgement, Noiwave and Nigel set out to find Bowser and Giratina within the Napoleon Kingdom. The future is unknown, but their loving aunt raised them to tell the unknown to, "Piss off." Will they piss off the unknown? Find out next time as the adventure continues!
To be continued…
