Zone 1 Chapter 2: A new kind of Hero
Izuku was now 9 years old, and was getting quite the handle on his newfound powers. While this was all going on, Inko and Toshinori had begun dating, and Toshinori had become an extended part of the family. Izuku was happy about this, now that he had someone who actually treated him like a son, unlike his deadbeat father Hisashi.
One day he was going to the park, and he saw Katsuki. He was gonna show him his new skills.
"Kacchan!" Izuku said as he zoomed over to where Katsuki was.
Katsuki noticed him and was surprised how quick he got over here.
"Deku how did you do that?" Katsuki asked, "I thought you were quirkless. Unless you were just wanting to perfect your quirk which would be under-"
"No kacchan this isn't a quirk!" Izuku said excitedly, "ItallstartedwhenItouchedIzumisluckycharmandsuddenlyIhavesuperspeed…"
He went into a muttering phase, much to Katsuki's amusement.
"Ok slow your row Deku," Izuku said.
Their commotion was interrupted when they heard a scream for help. The two of them rushed over to see a little girl being picked on by Katsuki's 'friends', one with wings and the other with stretchy fingers.
"Hey! What the hell are you doing!?" Katsuki shouted.
"Teaching this kid a lesson about trying to do the impossible!" Fingers said, "This weirdo has some kind of blood related quirk, and that's more of a villain quirk! We're putting her in her place, and you should join us Katsuki."
"You know I'm not that guy anymore," Katsuki said, "I may have a stupid awesome quirk, but even I have respect for others!"
"Even Deku?" Wings asked.
"Especially Deku!" Katsuki snapped.
"Come on, you know he's quirkless, so why would you waste time around him?" Wings asked.
Izuku stood in front of the two bullies.
"You leave her alone!" he snapped, "What did she ever do to you!"
"Well if it isn't the quirkless Deku trying to play hero!" One of them laughed.
Izuku was then right in front of them making an after image with a pissed off look.
"If you don't leave them alone I won't forgive you," Izuku said, "Just because you have quirks doesn't mean you can pick on others!"
"What are you gonna do-"
Wings didn't get to finish as Izuku dashed forward and kicked him away. The other kid tried to use his tape arms but Izuku created an after image coming up from behind him and roundhouse kicked him knocking him out making him slide far.
Wings got back up.
"You win this time Deku, but we'll be back!" he said as he flew away.
Fingers followed him. Izuku and Katsuki turned to the girl.
"Are you alright?" he asked.
"I'm ok," the girl said, "Thanks for your help. My name is Himiko Toga."
"I'm Izuku Midoriya and this is my friend Katsuki Bakugo."
Toga noticed a scrape on Katsuki's arm.
"What happened?" she asked.
"Oh, this happened a while back," Katsuki said.
She then licked the blood off quickly. Katsuki was creeped out, but shook it off.
"Uhh thanks," Katsuki said before turning back to Izuku, "Anyway Deku, that was pretty insane what you did."
"Thanks but… that was just dumb luck."
"Dumb luck my ass, you gave the bullies a run for their money! You'll definitely be a greater hero than those with quirks. In fact, maybe I'll train you to evade my explosions and help you make up some super moves!"
"I dunno…. Maybe wings and fingers are right… I'll always be a defenseless Izuku."
Katsuki looked at the 9 year old green haired boy.
"Excuse me? Did you save my skin from the lake? Did you stick up for that weird vampire? And all of a sudden you're gonna give up because of some insults?"
He then walked over.
"I don't think so. Not right now." He said, "You're gonna be a hero so SIDDOWN!"
Izuku immediately sat down. Katsuki smirked. The years went by and Izuku learned more about his super speed and came up with some new moves, with help from Katsuki. Needless to say, everything was looking up for Izuku and his family and friends. Other than Inko dating Toshinori, she had also gotten a new promotion at her job, earning herself more money in her paycheck.
People still tried to pick on Izuku for wanting to be a hero without a quirk but they kept getting an explosion to the face from Katsuki, seeing Izuku is not usually the one to get violent.
It was an average day at Middle School.
"So I'm passing out your career forms," he said, "but I guess these are pointless because let's face it... you all wanna be heroes!"
The students cheered wildly. They all started to show off their quirks. All except Bakugo and Izuku.
"Teach, don't lump Izuku and I with these extras! We're the only ones in this shitty school that'll be heroes!" Katsuki said. Izuku held his head down.
"Oh yeah, both you and Midoriya are trying out for UA?" The teacher said.
They all looked at Katsuki to see he was serious and then looked at Izuku. They didn't know what Izuku could do so they all just laughed at him thinking he was still useless. They then heard an explosion coming from an angry ash blonde.
"How is he useless?!" Katsuki asked.
"Are you serious Bakugo!? He's just some quirkless loser! Even with all that hand to hand combat he'll still die in that entrance exam!" One laughed. "Someone with a strong quirk should know that by now!"
"LISTEN HERE YOU EXTRAS! IZUKU IS MOST LIKELY TO BE A HERO THAN ANY OF YOU! DON'T BELIEVE ME!? HE'LL KICK ALL OF YOUR ASSES!" He screamed.
Everyone shut up while Katsuki was still steaming with rage and Izuku still looked a bit depressed.
Izuku walked home with Katsuki while reading a book he made on Chaos Energy. While he mainly had facts on speed based Chaos energy, he also had a few notes on flight and power.
"Geez, you read that book as if your life depended on it," he said, "Not that its a bad thing."
"Well if I wanna know all I can, I gotta write stuff down," Izuku said.
Izuku and Katsuki took a different route home, as there was a bit of villain trouble on the road he usually takes. As Izuku was walking, he saw someone else walking into that area. It was a girl with a round face and rosy cheeks. The sludge villain saw her walking by and decided to use her.
"Excellent... a body suit to fit my needs," it said.
The girl looked up and saw the creature. It lunged at her, prepared to cover her body and use her as a meat shield. However before anything could happen...
She found herself zoomed away from the danger in less than a second. The girl composed herself and looked to see her savior.
"You ok?" he asked.
The girl could only stare at him and blush.
"...Are you my guardian angel?" she asked.
"Uh…. I…."
"Deku look out!" Katsuki shouted.
Izuku looked and saw the Sludge creature, lunging at him once more.
"Maybe I'll use you instead!" it said.
Izuku jumped forward and punched the creature in the face where it wasn't made of sludge, sending it flying. As he did so, sparks of red appeared around him. Katsuki witnessed this and was surprised. Acting quickly, Izuku grabbed an old bottle and dashed around the creature, trapping it within the bottle and sealing it tight.
"Whoa….. That was amazing," the girl said, "Thanks for that! I'm curious about your quirk."
"Well... what you saw wasn't... exactly a quirk..." Izuku said sheepishly.
"Really?" the girl asked.
"Yea," Izuku said, "My name's Izuku by the way."
"My name is Ochako Uraraka. Nice to meet you Izuku!" Ochako said. Izuku blushed hearing her call him by his first name realizing he only introduced himself with his first name.
Katsuki laughed at this.
The three of them turned to see someone standing behind them.
"You certainly made my job easier, young man, and for that I must thank you," he said.
"No problem All Might," Izuku said.
He suddenly realized who he was just talking to.
"Holy mother of All Might, its All Might! OhmygodImsuchabigfanofyoursIhaveallyourcomicsandtoysandmail-"
Izuku went into a muttering state once more, much to Katsuki and Ochako's amusement.
"All Might! May I ask you a question?" Izuku asked.
"Of course young man! I always have time for a fan!" All Might said.
"Um... i-is it p-possible to be a h-hero... even without a quirk?" Izuku asked. "I-I'm quirkless but..."
"Quirkless you say? I had no idea! I thought you had a body enhancer quirk! But to answer your question, yes young Izu- I mean man! You can be a hero!" All Might said, "Quirks are nothing more than a fad in this world, and it blinds some people to what really makes a hero. It's not the quirk that makes the person, but rather the person who makes the hero."
"Well, do you think I could become the next No 1 hero?"
"What's your ability?"
"Well I have super speed, and I guess some kind of enhanced strength."
"Well, if you train this power of yours, you might be able to. You might."
Izuku smiled, satisfied with the answer.
"Thank you sir," Izuku said, "I feel a lot better now."
"Until we meet again young man," All Might said as he flew away.
"Ha, even the No 1 hero himself has faith in you," Katsuki said with a smirk
"Yeah! It's almost as if he knew you or something." Ochako said.
