Chapter VIII
Naruto was running through the forest his team had split up to find their second scroll. Team eight wasn't worried about the three v one fights as each member of team eight were strong in their own right.
As Naruto was going from tree to tree he picked up a scent. Naruto knew he had heightened senses thanks to the Kyubi and they certainly helped him over the years. The scent he picked up belonged to Team Seven but team seven wasn't alone they had a guest.
As Naruto drew closer he identified the other scent: it was the same scent from the academy, a snake. Naruto knew only two people in and out of Konoha used snakes, Orochimaru and Anko. Since Anko was a proctor and not allowed to interfere with the exams this meant the scent belonged to Orochimaru.
As Naruto arrived at the scene he saw Sasuke on his knees gripping his shoulder, Kiba was off to the side unconscious, and Sakura was next to Sasuke fear in her eyes. Naruto broke through the trees and landed in front of team seven.
"So you're the legendary Snake Sannin. What are your intentions in this exam?" Naruto asked Orochimaru.
"My intention?" Orochimaru asked. "I've already completed my goal so I will take my leave. I look forward to seeing you and Sasuke after the exams."
With that Orochimaru turned into hundreds of snakes and slithers away all in various directions.
"Are you three able to move on your own?" Naruto asked.
"We'll be fine, dobe, just get out of here." Sasuke said.
"Suite yourself." Naruto said and ran off again.
"Sasuke-kun, we could have gotten his scroll and eliminated his team." Sakura said.
"We're in no condition to fight after Orochimaru. Besides we have both scrolls." Sasuke said.
Naruto was making his way to the tower when he was stopped by a trio of genin wearing hitai-ate with a music note on the plate.
"So you're one of the teams graced by Orochimaru-sama. Then it will be our pleasure to kill you and take your scroll." Dosu said.
"And it will be my pleasure to end you three." Naruto said firmly.
Naruto felt his curse mark fluctuate and pulse.
"Don't make us laugh, you're outnumbered three to one, we have the advantage." Kin said, smirking.
Naruto instantly used the shunshin to appear behind Zaku and jab his gauntlet into Zaku's back, marking him. Naruto then ducked under Zaku's retaliation and marked him on his chest, instantly killing him. Kin and Dosu couldn't keep up with Naruto's movements but were able to jump away from Naruto.
"Number's mean nothing if you are better in skill." Naruto said calmly.
Dosu rushed Naruto using his sound gauntlet trying to disorient Naruto but the younger blonde ducked under the attack and marked Dosu's chest. As Dosu's arm moved past Naruto's head a sharp whistle sounded causing Naruto's ears to ring and bleed. Naruto jumped back holding his ears.
"So you use sound as a weapon, good to know." Naruto said.
"When we kill you Orochimaru will reward us." Dosu said.
Naruto rushed Dosu as Dosu rushed Naruto. Dosu moved to move his arm past Naruto's head but Naruto ducked under the attack ignoring the ringing in his ears and stabbed his clawed finger into Dosu's back marking connecting the two marks killing Dosu instantly.
Naruto looked at the female of the team, the only one left alive. Kin pulled out three senbon and threw them at Naruto who dodged them and rushed the girl. Upon reaching her he marked her chest then moved past her and marked her back. Kin dropped to the forest floor lifeless.
Naruto searched Dosu and his team before a sharp pain shot through his body forcing him to one knee gripping his curse mark. Once the pain subsided Naruto got back up and made his way toward the tower. Naruto also found an earth scroll on Dosu so he took it for his team.

At the tower Hinata and Shino were waiting for Naruto. Hinata looked annoyed while shino looked emotionless, like always.
"Where is he? He should have been here before us. He's the fastest member of the team." Hinata said in her annoyance.
"He will be here, Hinata, just give him time. Naruto is strong, not to mention the Kyubi sealed inside him." Shino said.
"From the way team nine was talking with him about how he got past the first exam he talks to the Kyubi as well. But even with the Kyubi if Naruto gets in over his head even the Kyubi won't be able to save him." Hinata argued.
"Then I guess it's a good thing I didn't get in over my head." came Naruto's voice.
"Bout time you show Naruto." Hinata said. "So did you get a scroll?"
"I did." Naruto said holding up both the heaven and the earth scroll.
"I take it the team you fought is dead?" Hinata said.
"Hai." Naruto said plainly.
"Then let's head inside." Hinata said.
Naruto didn't argue with HInata to be honest he was tired of the forest. Moving to rejoin his team the trio entered the tower and opened their scrolls. In a puff of smoke Iruka was standing there before them.
"Good job guys, you completed the second exam now go on, get some food and rest." Iruka said proud of his former students.
Team Eight made their way further into the tower where they found a cafeteria and a room with their team number on it. Opting to get some food, first team eight made their way to the cafeteria where they saw team nine and Gaara and his siblings. Naruto got some food and sat down with team nine.
"Hey guys, so you made it through the exams as well. Good job." Naruto said.
"Naturally we made it Naruto. If anyone fails this exam then they need to work on their teamwork." Tenten said happily.
"If anyone were to fail this exam my money would be on team seven." Neji said.
"Why them?" Naruto asked.
"Sakura is a fangirl and ignores her training. Kiba is dead last. And Sasuke thinks only about himself." Neji replied. "They are fated to fail."
"I don't know Neji, they may surprise you." Tenten said..
"Doubtful but I will withhold my personal feelings on the matter and give them the benefit of the doubt." Neji said with a soft smirk.
"I ran into team seven in the forest. They looked good. I think we'll see them at the end of the second exam." Naruto said.
"I hope we do. I would love to fight Sasuke." Lee said.
"Sasuke isn't weak, Lee, he will surprise you if you underestimate him." Tenten warned her teammate.
"I know Tenten and that's exactly why I want to fight him." Lee said excitedly.
