Chapter Thirteen

Same Time…

Hotel…

Charlie and Margaret were still feeling tired, even after getting some sleep after the late flight, but they needed to plan out their trip, as Charlie knew Don had only a limited amount of time he could meet with him and they would have to meet soon. They just needed to plan out what they needed to do for today and see if they have to go back to LA the next day, in case Alan needs them there if evidence is found against him.

Margaret wanted to go back to sleep, which was fine with Charlie, as he wanted to call Don, and he wasn't ready to tell Margaret about them meeting Don until he knew for sure that they had a set time.

After waiting a few minutes after she went back to bed, Charlie stepped out of their room and into the lobby and dialed his brother's number, still feeling nervous about Don saying that he may not be able to do it after all but he had to take the chance.

After a couple rings, a tired but relieved voice answered him and he felt the same relief as well.

"Eppes." Don answered

"Hey, Don, I thought I'd call to tell me and Mom are in Phoenix now, and she is taking a nap, so I was thinking that, if possible, if we could meet somewhere tonight?" Charlie quickly said, hoping he didn't sound too eager but he didn't care as much as he thought he would about his tone.

"Where?" Don asked, clearly still anxious about this whole meeting but willing to give it a shot

"I was thinking of one of those small cafes here, if you know of one that we could try out." Charlie said, knowing that Don might have a few ideas.

"Sure, I will look up one of my old stomping grounds and I will text you the address, and I will meet you around 6, if that's all right?"

"Sure, I'll talk to Mom and we will meet you there." Charlie said, now feeling excitement and nervousness, hoping things will be civil during the meeting.

A half hour later, Charlie got the directions to the place, and informed his Mother, who knew that it was important and that she might possibly be seeing Don for the first time in years, and hoped it would go okay.

After exploring the city for a little while, they went to a small but beautiful cafe that looked welcoming and comforting, much to their relief.

They didn't have to wait more than ten minutes before they heard the door ringing again and saw the familiar looking figure approach them.

All three briefly stared at each other, as they all knew this was not going to be easy and neither had any idea what to even say.

"Hey, Mom, Charlie." Don greeted as he took a table across from them

"Hey, Donnie" Margaret said after a few more moments of shock, having her suspicions being confirmed

They just sat there, not knowing what to even say and how to even say the correct thing.
