The beginning definitely didn't go smoothly like I planned with us fighting and causing you such trouble." He smiled and she nodded reluctantly. That seemed true. If he had been wanting to get closer to her and convince her to side with him their clashing and him blowing up her microwave was not a good way to start.
Please Feel at Ease Mr. Ling What if ...
I do not own the story Please feel at Ease Mr. Ling. I am only writing for entertainment purposes. This is truly fiction.
Beware of Spoilers for at least episode 7-8.
Although I love this story and Ling Yue I have thought too much about if I would forgive him or at least so easily. What if Anxin found out about his secret earlier on? How would it change the dynamic? Anxin
This is my what if story...
Please Feel At Ease Mr. Ling Chapter 6
(Of course we knew she couldn't ignore him for long)
Anxin considers not answering but she figures knowing him he will find a way to aggravate her further if she doesn't. She keeps it short. "A present for Youyou." She moves next to trace out YouYou's bangs while Ling Yue nods still working on cooking vegetables and ham in a separate pan on the stove. Next he adds everything together sets the stove on low with a lid and sets a timer for a few minutes.
He comes over to investigate. Anxin quickly stops and moves instead to get them drinks. She is pleased to note that his favorite drink is gone as she had given it to Ling Yue when she made him leave. That is good, Anxin doesn't want him getting too comfortable here. "You didn't have to stop." He protests. She shrugs and begrudgingly sets the drink on the table for him to grab. She wishes briefly she could have shaken it up to spray all over him like she intended back when he was Eightie, but if Ling Yue didn't fall for it then he wouldn't now. He seemed to be thinking the same thing because he asks trying for a smile "Do I need to check it for sabotage?" but she rolls her eyes and ignores him.
"You're very talented. I always thought so." He compliments quietly. She nods and opens her drink and takes a sip. "You could work somewhere drawing, I am sure of it, if you wanted." She shrugs and doesn't reply. "Anxin..." Ling Yue draws out her name a second to long. "I despise this." He states getting closer to her. Anxin steps back. "I don't like it when people barge into my home" she states dryly. " I..you.." Ling Yue is tongue tied. Strangely she takes pity on him unsure of why she does. Maybe it's because although she is angry and upset at him she doesn't like not forgiving people. Her estrangement and having a hard time with her adopted family made many hardships. One major lesson learned was that though you could forgive people and move on but you didn't have to forget and trust them. Anxin struggled with it on days but she tried. It was hard thinking how much she wanted to explain to Yu Guo. One day...She would break the silence now with Ling Yue but that was all.
"It is strange seeing you all dressed up." Anxin says absentmindedly as she fiddles with her bracelet. He stays quiet so she continues. "The only time before was when my coworkers came over." Ling Yue nods. " I know I was a bit much then.. but I was wanting to show you who I am." Anxin sits uncomfortable but she knows what he means. She had seen the inept awkward weird Eightie who was a fish out of water. While her view of him had improved since he had less mishaps it was almost night and day to see for herself the well dressed confident and pushy Ling Yue before her.
"It must be strange going from such different worlds." Anxin ventures gesturing to her house as she takes another sip of her drink. She blushes and turns away. As soon as the words are out of her mouth she wished she could take that last bit back. Way to be subtle as a brick she thought. Mentioning his money several times already, it is just so unreal how different they are. She would have to be careful. She didn't want to tip Ling Yue off. It was looking more and more like she was going to have to test him. Anxin didn't really want to get involved with the shares or company decisions at all. She did need to know if he kept this up what mattered to him, the shares or about her... Anxin wasn't sure if she'd be ready at any point to trust him again but she needed to be careful. Ling Yue was stubborn and she couldn't allow herself to be worn down by him just from knowing her well. Trusting Ling Yue again for him to not be truly genuine or only to like the idea of her spurred on by her having the shares would be...she didn't think she could stand being wrong about him twice. Anxin didn't want to think of him like that ,but he had lied to her for so long about so much.
Thankfully she is saved by the timer. "Come, Come" Ling Yue says and they both get their food and take their seats. As always it is delicious though she hates to admit it. Anxin knew he wouldn't let her refuse the food since he had already barged in so she didn't try. Also it would be a waste. She gets only a moderate amount of food not wanting to be seen as taking a lot or having to go back for seconds. He didn't need any encouraging.
Ling Yue frowns as he turns to look at her. "The company is better here." He gives her a look and she quickly looks away. They lapse into silence eating quietly. Anxin wonders at how his family must be happy he is okay after him being missing for so long but doesn't feel it is her place to bring it up. She takes a bite and looks at him a moment. She sighs shaking her head not able to keep it in anymore and must address this with him at the very least. "Ling Yue, didn't you ever think? Is this possibly because I saved you? And because no matter of the circumstances I took you in and took care of you? A forced bond from the trauma that caused these...feelings." She finishes uncomfortably and looks at him expectantly.
"We are so different..." Anxin trails off. As she is talking he looks up. "No that's not it." Ling Yue insists quickly. " I already was headed to find help and would have been okay... though it would have taken a lot longer to get to help on my own." She is glad he skips over her role in his injury. "Also my feelings grew with time but would not have happened with any nurse though I do appreciate all you did." He takes a sip of his drink. " I like how you are different and see things from a new way. Money isn't everything." She looks away chiding herself. Of course it isn't. Her adopted family has money but still have plenty of problems.
They stay in silence for a minute "But you still lied to me." She stated softly. He sighed. "I did but only about what I had to. The rest of the time I was myself." It is on the tip of her tongue to ask about the shares but she doesn't. She wants to have his honest reaction. She didn't know if she would forgive him but she had to know if it was real. Also there were other possibilities. Will he think getting her forgiveness is too much trouble? Perhaps he was a playboy and Youyou was right and though had true moments his care didn't run that deep. Not enough to compete with instant victory over his brother anyways. He is already digging himself in deep if he wants to pull away she doesn't want to make it harder for him if that is what he wishes. They both have finished eating and just stare at each other.
Anxin says nothing and gets up to get a container to pack up the rest of the food for him but he continues following her. "Didn't you feel it all those times of teasing you? Worrying about each other? " She backs away but Ling Yue won't let up. Suddenly she is pressed against the counter with nowhere to go. ""I miss that. Don't you?" He challenges her. She stays silent and doesn't answer for a moment but Anxin does want to be honest. "I miss Eightie. I am starting to see him in you Ling Yue, but I still don't trust you." She tries to push him away as he steps even closer. "I hope to help you see while my motives in the beginning weren't exactly selfless, I try to do right by people. Though I am harsh at times, especially in business I am always fair." " Tough but fair." Anxin echoes dubiously setting her hands on his shoulders trying to keep him at bay, trying to keep his words out of her head but failing. He nods. "I made mistakes. But I hope to make it right." Ling Yue breathes looking down at her and pulling her nearer. "You're not going to give up are you?" She questions tilting her head now still keeping firm with her hands trying to keep him back but he's only inching closer still.
"Not with you." Ling Yue shakes his head firmly as he brings a hand to her face and leans in to kiss her. Anxin is surprised at first but is taken in. She is always taken in by him. His lips are soft and slow and sweet urging her response carefully. With a bit of encouragement of her kissing him back lightly caught up in the moment Ling Yue takes his hand and runs his fingers through her hair. Anxin mostly stays still reveling in it. She know this is a mistake but she can't help it. He holds her as if he never wants this moment to end. She has to admit to herself she doesn't fully want it either, but that is why it must.
