Day 19: Midsummer Dream

It was just a damn teddy bear. He could probably buy her a better one at the mall tomorrow.

Sasuke crouched over, staring down the barrel of this stupid carnival gun at his target. For such an enormous teddy bear, it sure had a tiny target. But these games were all rigged anyways, so of course it was impossible to hit.

That had to be why the first three shots went wide. Of course. He knew how to shoot. And hit his target.

"C'mon Sasuke-kun!" Sakura called from behind him. She didn't seem the slightest bit phased by the fact that he'd missed 60% of his shots. She's the best. And that's why she's going to get the damn bear she wants. She looks so cute in her pink kimono…

Bang.

The fourth shot nicked the edge of the target. Sasuke looked at the stall owner, willing him to nod his head, hand him the bear, and put him out of his misery.

The bastard shook his head, smirking a little. "You gotta hit the center, young man. One more shot, otherwise your cute girlfriend is going to be real disappointed."

Sasuke scowled. He was about to try again, when a few whispers behind his back caught his attention.

"You go ask her, dude."

"No you!"

"You're the one who thinks the pink hair is cute."

"You pointed her out first!"

"Well, duh! Just look at her!"

This is taking too long. An eerie calmness descended over him as Sasuke's world narrowed down to the view through the makeshift scope. He didn't even notice as the stall owner opened his mouth to goad him a bit more - he'd already pulled the trigger.

BANG.

The bullet destroyed the bullseye. Sasuke looked up, staring at the stall owner expectantly, but it took the man a moment to pick his jaw off the floor and hand him the damn bear. Sasuke ignored everything else he was trying to say (something about "my rifle!") as he reached Sakura, who was totally oblivious to the two guys behind her, trying to catch her attention.

"Here." He handed her the bear with one hand as he possessively wrapped the other around her shoulders.

She squealed excitedly, "Thanks Sasuke-kun, I - mmmph!"

Sasuke ignored the two guys backing away as he kissed the living daylights out of his girlfriend.
