Disclaimer: The franchises utilized in this story don't belong to me. They are properties of Square Enix, Disney and Toei Company.

A/N: Sora is aged 16 instead of 14 unlike in original canon in this story, which means we are seeing his KH2 aspect mixed with the first game's costume and may display his KH1 and 2 personality. That means Kairi has her long red hair and is 15 years old, and Riku is 17. But, Sora isn't short unlike in canon as well, he may be more or less tall than his best friend Riku. (Gosh, I'm taking a lot of inspiration from Bleach's Ichigo! Don't blame me XD)

CHAPTER 1 – Strange Beginnings

It had been a few good minutes since he landed on that pillar, nothing weird had happened so Sora sighted in relief, maybe he could take his time to think about what had happened up to this point…

"So much to do," a mysterious voice said.

Or not?

Nervous, Sora glanced over his shoulder. "Who's there?"

"So little time…" the voice continued.

Sora looked around the area… not a soul at sight. This didn't bode well.

"What do you mean?" Sora asked out of intrigue, what was going?

"The door is still shut. Are you ready?" The mysterious voiced asked him if he was prepared for what was about to come for him.

Sora wasn't sure to respond. Obviusly the voice had no desire to give him any information. But he was more concerned about thrusting his voice. Should he trust it? Well, considering that running away would lead him to falling off the pillar, Sora didn't have any choice, did he?

He let out a nervous exhale, unsure what to expect next…

"I-I guess I am." Sora said.

"Now, step forward. Can you do it?"

Sora walked towards the light in the middle of the pillar.

"Ok, now what?" he spoke after doing so.

No response, he was about to speak when suddenly, one thing over a stone pedestal emerged from the ground; A black shield with a red outline materialized on top of the pillar. Engraved in the middle of it was what appeared to be a yellow "V" insignia.

"Power sleeps within you…"

Before he could inquire about the shield, another item above the stone pedestal emerged in front of him, it was a staff with the same symbol as the shield. That staff reminded him of a book he had read in school: Robin Hood. He wondered if he was having the same experience as Robin. But then again, he doubted this "happy place" would have a tea party.

"It will give you form." The voice continued.

Another stone pedestal emerged from the ground, the item resting over this time was a sword.

"It will give you strength."

Sora was torn between the three weapons, he obviously couldn't afford himself to take the three weapons with him, the confusion was pounding Sora's mind like he was hearing intense drum sounds through his ears.

"Choose well."

"Choose? Why? Am I going to fight against someone?"

Yet again, no response, Sora's confusion was morphing into frustration, okay, fine. He'll play along. Having always played with toy swords at his childhood, Sora's decision was incontrovertible. He walked over to the sword, picked it up with both hands, and examined every detail. The sword's weight was adequate, not too heavy nor too light, all balanced.

"The power of the warrior. Invincible courage. A sword of terrible destruction. Is this the power you seek?" the mysterious voiced inquired if he was fit to portrait the sword.

Those qualities alone would be good enough, he thought. Besides, having a sword might give him sort of protection against any threat should he face throughout while journeying throughout this mysterious place.

"Sure." Sora said.

He became startled when the sword dematerialized right in front of his eyes.

"Whoa! How about a little warning before you do that?!"

"Your path is set. Now, what will you give up in exchange?"

"Why? Is there a reason for this? Lemme guess, you're not gonna answer me, are you?" Sora sighed, knowing the being's behavior.

That's right, the answer was met with silence. Was it a test? Because if it was, then that mysterious being was doing a good job on testing his patience.

He wanted magic should he use it when necessary, so he decided to relinquish the shield, he just wanted to continue his mysterious journey, he could defend himself somewhat.

"The power of the guardian. Kindness to aid friends. A shield to repel all. You give up this power?"

"Yes." Sora answered as he watched the shield fade away from his hands.

"You've chosen the power of the warrior. You've given up the power of the guardian. Is this the form you choose?"

"I guess so." Sora shrugged.

All of sudden, the three pedestals started to sink and the pillar began shattering itself to pieces, making Sora fall down to the bottom of the void of darkness, which seemed to be eternal.

Soon, another pillar came to his view, he relieved, although albert only slightly. His instincts knew that the mysterious voice still had other ambiguous plans for him.

He managed to stand the right up and land safety on his feet. Sora exhaled again. He took a moment to look at the new pillar. Another picture. This one contained the image of a man in red costume like the previous ninja hero. This man had a police-like insignia at his thorax, his helmet also had siren-like shape at both sides, not only that, Sora also noticed that there were few other people with the same aspect as him in different colors, telling there were at least one woman in the team due to the pink color of the helmet.

Before he could ponder over this next image, the sword he chose appeared in his hand.

"You've gained the power to fight. That is, if you know how to use it."

"Ha! Do I know to use a sword? Check this out!" Sora said in enthusiasm with a confident smirk for the first time since arriving at this place.

Sora swung the blade few times, displaying some of his swordsman's techniques. Growing up, he would always spar with his best friend Riku, developing his skills with a sword, even thou the swords the two were using were fake of course, so that it felt second nature.

After a few swings, Sora rested his sword over his shoulder, grinning with pride.

"Not bad, huh?"

"Not bad at all, you have a natural talent, but remember this: Use this power to protect yourself and the others from "them"."

"Them? Who are they?" Sora asked feeling intrigued by what the voiced had told him.

"Right in front of you!"

Sora did as instructed while some bizarre humanoid creatures in black with yellow eyes and claws on their hands emerged from the ground, making the guy feel some goosebumps.

"What the heck are those things?!" Sora asked feeling a terrified surge on his spine.

"Keep your light burning strong."

One of the creature lunged at Sora. He brought the blade up just as the creature knocked him onto the ground. It was right on his face. His blue eyes met the creature's yellow emotionless ones. Sora's heart pounded at an incredible rate, from both the adrenaline and terror.

However, his downfall would be contingent on showing a sign of fear, he had focus, he had to survive this deadly encounter if he wanted to go back to the island with Riku and Kairi in one piece.

Using a portion of his strength, Sora pushed the creature off him; after standing up, he slashed the creature in half, which exploded into the dust and fading away into nothingness.

He turned his attention on the other creature, which it tried to slash him across his face but Sora blocked the attack and retaliated by slashing the creature like he did with another one.

As Sora was to slash the last one, the creature did something unexpected, it dove to the ground, like a shadow looking for its owner, and then the creature emerged from the ground to try to slash Sora with its claws but the sword wielder counterattacked finished it off with a strong vertical slash across its body, which disappeared into the nothingness like the others.

"Quite a tricky one, aren'tcha? Unfortunately for you, I'm tricker!"

Sora was able to catch a break laying on the ground to recover his energies, besides, some of the green orbs helped him heal his wounds and be ready for another round.

"Behind you!"

With a little time to react, Sora turned around and blocked the incoming attack from the creature, even thou he almost lost one eye to the claw attack.

Sora managed to give the creature a deathblow with his blade and finish him off. Suddenly, a pile of black puddle covered the pillar, Sora tried to back away from the puddle but he was eventually pulled down to the depths of the dark ocean.

Everything seemed hopeless, but then again, he saw a brightness of light again, a burst of air entered onto his mouth and embraced his lungs. Opening his eyes, he felt that he was another pillar, however, unlike the others he noticed that there were no people on this imagery this time.

Then a door appeared in front of Sora, who turned to face it. "How? The door is—"

He noticed that door was solid.

"Should have seen it coming."

Sora ran to the door and stopped right front of it. He took his time to think about a huge possibility of running into something incredible that was awaiting him on the other side of the door.

He held the handle tightly with his hands for a few seconds until he decided to do what was risky but worth a try…

He exhaled and decided to pull the handle and opened the door.

Destiny Islands

Sora found himself back at the place he had lived his whole life with his friends and found the other teenage people he also knew as well: Tidus, Wakka and Selphie.

"Wait… the door won't open just yet."

"What's that mean?" Sora asked.

"First, tell me more about yourself."

"Tell them about myself… Fine, I will talk to them." Sora said as he walked to Tidus.

He asked him a very vague and enigmatic question. "What are you so afraid of?"

What did he mean by that? It was very strange and confusing question for Sora, who was thinking and unsure what to answer. He couldn't straight say he was scared of ghosts nor spiders, because he wasn't, he wasn't afraid of those things because he didn't care about it. Then, he came up with something… "Getting old, I guess?"

"Getting old? Is that really scary?" Tidus gave an odd look after hearing his answer.

Sora was quite puzzled by their strange behavior but nonetheless, he proceeded to talk to Wakka and he did him a question that was as enigmatic as Tidus's… "What do you want outta life?"

"Well… I want to be strong." Sora replied, gaining himself the same odd glare as Tidus.

"To become stronger, huh? Cool!" Wakka said with a smile.

"What's the most important to you?" Selphie asked him.

"Mmmm… friendship is very important for me." Sora answered her.

"Friendship is important to you, huh? Nice." Selphie gave him a smiling glare.

"You're afraid of getting old. You want to see rare sights. You think the friendship is important."

"Your adventure begins at dawn. As long as the sun is shining, your journey should be a pleasant one."

"Sounds cool!" Sora exclaimed with a smirk on his face.

"The day you will open the door is both far off and very near."

Then, a huge piddle of light covered the whole island and Sora shut his eyes tightly to shield them from the huge brightness…

Upon reopening his eyes, Sora ended up again over a pillar, which it now contained an image of man in red costume like the others, however, Sora came to notice something on the hero's helmet. Its visor had a sort of a dinosaur's traits, and not only that there were few more people with similar characteristics but there was one which got his attention, his helmet was all white and the visor itself was red as the blood.

Sora walked few steps to the middle and suddenly, some of the dark creatures emerged from the ground to fight.

"You still won't let me catch a break, huh?" Sora said as he put out his sword from his back, ready to fight.

Sora proceeded to take down the creatures with a lot of swordsmen techniques he knew very well until he cleared the area, after doing so, he walked towards the ray of light and then he came to see floating stairways materialize.

Sora walked through the stairways to reach another pillar, which contained another hero in red costume, whose helmet contained a visor with a phoenix shape.

"The closer you get to light, the greater your shadow becomes."

"What?!" Sora gasped after hearing the mysterious voice's warning.

Exactly as the voice had said… Sora's shadow became bigger as it emerged from the ground into a huge monster he had to face.

"Holy cow!" he exclaimed in shock as he started to back away, but there was no way out of this.

"But don't be afraid." The voiced continued. "And don't forget…"

"Then I just have to take you down!" Sora surged towards the monster and proceeded to slash its bigger hand and deal with the dark creatures that emerged from the ground.

It was not an easy task as he thought, of course it wasn't. Not only Sora had to deal with the monster, but the dark creatures who tried to submit him. But no, Sora wasn't willing to give up that easily… he was determined to get out of this place and meet with Riku and Kairi somewhat!

Adrenaline ran through his veins and Sora managed to slay the monster and the creatures, who fade away from nothingness.

Suddenly, a huge pool of blackness appeared below Sora and he was sucked into the depths of darkness…

"—But don't be afraid... You hold the mightiest weapon of all. So don't forget: You are the one who will open the door."

END OF CHAPTER 1

A/N: As you can see, I have been thinking of writing the first Kingdom Hearts game adaptation with 99.9% of Disney stuff removed in favor of the Super Sentai, and possibly other tokusatsu shows like Kamen Rider. Not that I'm a tokusatsu mega fan but I have been watching only selective seasons of both franchises.

For those who don't know, Super Sentai is a tokusatsu franchise that has been on Japanese TV for more than 40 years since the 1970s alongside Kamen Rider.

This is where the Power Rangers franchise comes from, as every season uses the Super Sentai fight scenes in the American adaptation. I guess this kills off the joke, but this is how it has worked in the series.

Anyway, I would like to invite you to support this work so I get motivation. See you.
