CHAPTER 2 – The Calm Before the Storm I

For the first time since getting through the bizarre and weird dark zone, everything was silent as Sora slowly opened his eyes to notice the place where he really was… It was Destiny islands… his hometown where he lived alongside Kairi and the others.

He yawned to lie on the sand, but as he was willing to take another nap… Kairi appeared out of nowhere on his face.

"Whoa!" Sora gasped on her sudden presence, visibly annoyed as she laughed. "Gimme a break, Kairi. Why do you always have to sneak up on me like that?"

Kairi grinned. "That how I like to wake up lazy bums like you. I knew you'd be snoozing down here."

"I wasn't snoozing! This huge black THING swallowed me up!" Sora tried to explain the "nightmare" he experienced. "I couldn't breathe, I couldn't—"

Sora felt a sharp pain on his forehead and rubbed it to heal himself, he must have slept funny and Kairi couldn't do a thing but to roll her eyes.

"Are you still dreaming?" Kairi asked him with that glare.

"It wasn't a dream!" Sora tried to defend himself but couldn't find the right words to say. "Or was it? I don't know. What was that place? So bizarre."

"Yeah, sure." Kairi replied.

"Say Kairi, what was your hometown like? You know, where you grew up." Sora asked her out of curiosity.

"I've told you before, I don't remember." Kairi answered him admitting not having a clue of her hometown, of course, she couldn't remember a thing of her past aside of living with him and Riku.

"Nothing at all?" Sora wanted to be sure she was telling the true.

"Nothing." Kairi affirmed him not having a single memory prior to living in the island.

"Do you ever want to come back?" Sora asked her.

"Well, I'm happy here." Kairi said preferring to stay where she had lived most of her life.

"Really…"

"But you know, I wouldn't mind going to see it." Kairi said expressing her wish to see her hometown somewhat.

"I'd like to see it too." Sora agreed with her, after all, they wanted to see the outside world somehow. "Along with any other worlds out there! I want to see 'em all!"

"So what are we waiting for?" Kairi was enthusiast about the idea of traveling everywhere together.

"Hey, aren't you guys forgetting about me?" a voice was heard from behind and the two immediately knew who it was.

"Riku!" Sora said in surprise.

"I guess I'm the only one working on the raft." The silver haired boy said as he threw the trunk against his friend. "And you are just as lazy as he is!"

"So you noticed." Kairi said between laughs. "Okay, we'll finish this together. I'll race you!"

"Huh?"

"What, are you kidding?" Riku said in disbelief.

"Let's see who's the lazy one! Ready? Go!" Kairi gave them the signal and she, Sora and Riku began racing throughout the island. They couldn't resist on competing each other, no matter the reason.

They hope the halcyon feelings would last forever, after all, they were enjoying their time together.

"I got here first!"

"No way, dude! I beat you by a mile second!"

"Nu-uh!"

It was a typical day in the Destiny Islands, the birds were singing. The temperature was nice and warm as the waves resounded throughout the island.

Kairi arrived not too long after her friends finished their race. They were standing by a wooden door which leaded to the other side of the island.

Their arguments were not a malice, more like, it was rather childish as you would expect from two friends growing up together like brothers. Their argument continued until they noticed Kairi out of the corner of their eyes. Immediately, they turned to face her. She frowned, knowing full well what they were about to say.

"Oh no!" she said. "I'm not playing ref again. Count me out. Besides, you both left me in the dust."

Sora sighed. They were getting nowhere setting this argument. Then, he had an idea. "Hey, let's settle this by racing to the dock. That will determine the winner."

"That's pointless, man." Riku said with a chuckle. "We're deciding who's gonna win, by another race?"

"Uh… well… I… okay, good point." Sora agreed. "So what do we do now?"

Riku smirked. "Settle this one in an old-fashioned way?"

Sora knew exactly what he was implying. Thou it filled him with excitement and worry. Ever since they were kids, they would spar with their toy swords. Unfortunately, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't beat Riku in a match. But he wasn't discouraged; Sora was never a quitter, and he knew victory would be one day crowned upon his head.

Yep!" Sora clenched his fist in excitement. "You're on! Usual spot?"

"Guys, what about the raft?" Kairi asked, growing annoyed.

Sora and Riku winced. They had climbed a bit too high on a competitive ladder.

"Oh, right." Sora said, rubbing his head in an apologetic manner. "Kinda important we finish that, huh?"

"Shouldn't be too hard." Riku said. "We just need certain materials to complete. Kairi, do you have the list we made earlier?"

Kairi pulled out a small piece of paper from her pocket and unfolded it. "Yep. We're all set. Why don't you take a break since you did most of the groundwork? Sora and I will gather the materials."

"Alright." Riku accepted. "Just make sure he doesn't fall asleep again."

"Will do." Kairi snickered.

The daytime passed as Sora and Kairi searched for the materials they needed to build the raft and eventually found as the sun to dusk.

The three were sitting on top of a trunk of a beach tree looking at the sunset.

"So, Kairi's home is out there somewhere, right?" Sora began.

"Could be. We'll never know by staying here." Riku said thinking about the travel.

"But how far a raft could take us?" Sora inquired him.

"Who knows?" Riku admitted not having a clue. "If we have to, we'll think about something else."

"So, suppose you get to another world." Kairi grinned in curiosity about the journey. "what would you do there?"

This was a very good question… If they were to travel and meet new places, what kind of business would they have there? What would they do? That's what only themselves would come to know sooner or later.

"Well… I haven't really thought about it." Riku replied not having any plans on his mind. "It's just… I've always wondered why we're here on this island. If there are any other worlds out there, why did we end up in this one? And suppose there are other worlds… Then ours is just a little piece of something much greater. So… we could've just as easily ended up somewhere else, right?"

"I don't know." Sora lied down upwards looking at the sky.

"Exactly." Riku understood his point. "That's why we need to go out there and find out. Just sitting there won't change a thing. It's the same old stuff. So let's go."

Riku was right, the three needed to leave the island and explore new horizons somewhat, to visit new worlds… new people, new customs.

"You have been thinking a lot lately, haven't you?" Kairi asked him about his initiative.

"Thanks to you." Riku answered with a nod. "If you hadn't come here, I probably would've never thought of any of this. Kairi, thanks."

"You're welcome." Kairi let out a warm smile as they decided to get up and walk through the bridge.

"Sora!" Riku called as he threw a star-like fruit onto his friend's hands. "You wanted one, didn't you?"

"A paopu fruit?" Sora asked raising an eyebrow.

"If two people share one, their destinies become intertwined." Riku gave one curious and enigmatic phrase, much to his friend's curiosity and then he proceeded to tease him. "They'll remain a part of each other's lives, no matter what. C'mon. I know you wanna try it."

"What are you talkin' about—?" Sora said after being teased as he chased his friend.

The three hoped into the rafts they had built the day before, said good bye, and headed home.

Sora was paddling when he wondered the truth behind the Riku's joke, both knew they had deep feelings for Kairi. It was never explicitly stated, but their longing expression was crystal clear as the sky and water.

Beyond the stars in the sky, there was a world that no one has never heard of…

It was called the Super Sentai Kingdom.

SUPER SENTAI CASTLE

Far away from Sora's hometown… it was the Super Sentai kingdom, which was an immense castle with red and black themes everywhere and had a beautiful green-colored garden.

Inside the castle, a girl with a dyed blue color strand of her short brown hair with a black-blue uniform and the skirt was walking throughout the hallway in such high spirits until reaching the big door, which means it could be the throne room.

"I wonder if he's here." She said as she knocked the door, but did not hear any answer.

The girl then proceeds to open the door to enter the huge, immense, and spacious throne room with closed eyes. "Good morning, your majesty. It's nice to see you this morn—" She said cheerfully just before opening her eyes to realize that he was not there. "What?! He's not here?!" she gasped in shock.

What the hell happened? The majesty was not in the usual spot the woman used to see every morning, what was going on?

And then, a robot dog came out from behind the chair holding something with its mouth, to which the girl focused on. "Murphy? Is that a… a letter?" she said.

The dog walked close and handed the letter to her, which she opened and began reading and then she gasped in worry. "It can't be… he… I must tell her! Thank you, buddy." She spoke as she ran off the castle to look for her friend.

CHAMELEON WATERFALLS

Not very far from the kingdom, there was a place filled with a lot of nature green area consisting of trees, nice and clear air and lots of nature resources. Besides, there was an oriental shrine close to the immense waterfalls.

Out of nowhere, a woman with black hair in bunches quite painted in green as her wuxia-style dress showed up making herself visible in front of the waterfall.

She was a beautiful and strong, nobody could deny that. Then, she summoned what it looked like… a key… just to hold it like a weapon and then practice her martial arts as well as swing her key weapon with movements such thrust, horizontal slash and vice versa.

And then she disappeared by cloaking herself like what a chameleon would do to blend in the environment, only to show up at the top of a tree and have a great wide view of the kingdom.

However, she had a bad feeling run through her chest and felt something was not right…

"Mele! Mele!" the brown-haired girl called and she noticed this and jumped down to her friend.

"Nami. What's wrong? Are you ok?" Mele said with a concern on her face.

"We have a problem, Mele!" Nami replied the same thing showing her the letter.

"It's… It's from Akared… let's see…" Mele proceeded to read the letter;

"Nanami, sorry to rush off without sayin' goodbye, but there's big trouble brewin'.

Not sure why, but the stars have been blinking out, one by one. And that means disaster can't be far behind. I hate to leave you all but I've gotta go check into it.

There's someone with a "key"—the key to our survival.

So I need you and Mele to find him, and stick with him. Got it?

We need that key or we're doomed! So go to traverse town and find Leon.

He'll point you in the right direction.

P.S

Would you apologize to Shirowhite for me?

Thanks, pal."

"What are we going to tell her?" Nami was concerned about Shirowhite's reaction.

"The truth, Nami… we both know that she dislikes the lies." Mele gave one obvious answer, they had to explain to her as soon as the duo headed to the castle.

END OF THE CHAPTER 2

A/N: And that's it, we have just been introduced to the Super Sentai girls who just make an appearance! You might wonder why I decided to put Mele from Gekiranger here instead of any other Sentai heroine with the same color, well, I can't help but admire her badass personality and the way she kicks the enemies' ass. I also came to wonder what if Mele was a ranger instead of anti-heroine like her original counterpart. This is where I came to create her KH counterpart. I almost had Hammie from Kyuranger being part of the trio but then I watched Hurricanger and made my pick towards Nanami Nono/Hurricane Blue as a partner to Sora at her KH incarnation. Both may have similar traits towards their real counterparts, but they are not the same.

See you in the next chapter! Any question and feedback is welcome.
