So it has been a little bit since I updated. I got busy with life and this was put on hold for a moment. But I am back. I was also wondering if anyone was still reading this. If people are over this story I want to move on to something people would like. So please let me know if you want to read more of this story. Please enjoy the chapter, and I own nothing.
A few days after our night out I was working when I got a phone call.
"Hello"
"Rebekah, is now a good time?"
"Of course what is going on Mel?"
"Do you think you can still help us with anything?" Phil asked, whatever was going on they were together in the room.
"Of course, what do you need?"
"It's Skye, we need a safe place for her to lay low for a few days."
"What's going on?"
"The teratogenic changed her and now she has powers."
"Is she alright?"
"Scared but she is worried."
"Do you want me to come and get her?"
"How about we meet?" Phil asked.
"Of course, does the diner work for you?"
"Sounds good, See you in an hour?"
"I will be there." With a quick goodbye, I got off the phone and went to get things ready for Skye.
An hour later I was at the diner when I saw them walking in.
They made their way to me and sat down.
"Hi, guys."
"Hi, love/ Rebekah," they said.
"So what is going on? I can tell there is more you are not telling me."
"When was the last time you talked to Bobbi or anyone?"
"It has been a while, I have been kind of busy. Why what is going on?"
"I'm worried she is keeping something from us, Mac as well."
"Well, I could always talk to her as well."
"I might have you do that. But for now, we need Skye out of there."
"I'm not safe anymore."
"Skye, no matter what happened that is not true. So you are different. I work with a group of people who are the same way, don't worry we can help you."
"I don't know if you can."
"Give us a chance, we might surprise you."
"Lady Sif offered to take her to Asgard," Phil informed me.
"Well, if anything Thor is here right now. He will be able to help as well as any of the Avengers. Plus you did say you wanted to meet them."
"I just thought it would be different when I did."
"Don't worry, they won't judge you off of powers."
"We will be in touch as soon as possible," Mel told me.
"Skye, don't worry. Rebekah will be able to help you and you will be safe."
"What about everyone else?"
"As Phil said, Skye, it will be alright. Everyone will be safe, I promise you."
"Alright"
After that, we said goodbye to Phil and Mel with promises they would call if they needed backup and once they were gone I turned to look at Skye.
"Ready to meet the Avengers?" She smiled slightly.
"Kind of"
"Then let's go." Helping grab her thing we headed to my car and got in before I took off to the tower.
For most of the drive, she was pretty quiet and as I parked I turned to look at her.
"Are you alright?"
She was quiet for a few minutes before she finally spoke up.
"I have been waiting for you to say something about what happened."
It took me a moment to realize what she was talking about.
"You mean Trip?"
"Everyone else blames me. You were close, shouldn't you blame me as well?"
"Skye, I could never blame you or anyone for something that is not their fault. Trip knew what he was doing. He knew there was a risk in this job every day. He cared about you Skye, you were his friend. That is the thing about him he would do anything to keep his friends and the people he cares about safe. You are one of those people. While yes we all miss him so much. He did for you what he would do for anyone. He would not want you to blame yourself for what happened and if the others cared about him as much as they say they would not blame you as well because Trip would never blame you for this. You have nothing to apologize for. Trip was one of my best friends. I loved him like a big brother and I miss everything about him every day but I also know that he would not want you ever to think that his choice is your fault. So promise me and him that you won't blame yourself for what happened because that is not what he would want."
"I can't help but feel like all of it's my fault. He went in because of me."
"Skye, he went in because he wanted to."
"Maybe I should have not followed Rina, nothing good has come from it."
"Is this about your newfound powers?"
"I'm putting people in danger."
"It won't always be like that Skye, you will get the hang of it and then you can help people with it. That is what we are going to do with the Avengers. We are going to find a way to help you with them and how to use them."
"I am kind of excited to meet all of them."
"I knew you would be. Just remember they don't know that Coulson is alive. So while you are here you are a part of May's team and they don't know a whole bunch about SHIELD still being around. So be careful with what you say and if you are not sure ask me."
"I can do that. It must be hard for you to keep something like that from all of them."
"It is, Nat and Clint the most because they were close with both Phil and Mel. They all worked together and were friends."
"Well, I will make sure I don't say anything."
"Let's head in. I'm sure they are all wondering where I went. They are probably worried I ran away again."
"Well, we can't let them think that, let's go."
Both of us got out and headed inside once we had her things.
As we stood in the elevator I looked over at her and smiled.
"Relax, they will all like you."
"I hope so, what if I do something that they don't like, or what if I hurt someone?"
"Trust me, it takes a lot to hurt any of them and they will all be fine with you."
The elevator door opened.
"Here goes nothing." I smiled at her and we walked out.
Getting to the sitting room I saw all of them sitting there.
"About time, you had us worried you took off," Dad told me.
"I was gone for an hour."
"That is a long time."
"Ok, whatever you say. Anyway everyone this is Skye."
"Hi," she said with a wave.
The others said hello before looking at me.
"Skye, this is Clint, Natasha, Bucky, Steve, Thor, Bruce, and Tony. The Avengers. This is Skye who worked on Mel's team with SHIELD. But now she needs help and Mel knew we would be able to help her."
"What do you need help with?" Nat asked her.
"Well, something happened recently which is hard to explain but now I'm different."
"How so?" Bruce asked her.
"She has powers and now needs help to learn how to use them."
"Well, you came to the right place," Dad told her.
"It's nice to have you here," Steve told her.
"Well thank you for being so willing to help me."
"Any friend of Lady Rebekah's is a friend of ours," Thor said.
"You know Thor, she was part of a team that helped clean in London."
"Well, then I do apologize for the mess we made, and thank you for your help."
"This more than makes up for it."
"She really wanted to meet you, will all of you. Mel has told her about some of you."
"I don't know if we should worry about that or not," Clint told us.
"Well, I told her things when I was helping them as well. Don't worry, mostly good things."
"That eases how we feel so much," Nat said.
"Well, I had to tell the truth."
"Don't worry, it was good. She made it where I wanted to meet all of you even more."
"Well, Skye let's get you settled in," I told her and she said goodbye to the others as we went to the rooms
As we walked down the hall I stopped in front of a door.
"Here is your room, mine is that one right next to you. So if you need anything at all feel free to ask." I opened the door so we could walk in.
"This is nice, are you sure it is alright if I'm in this room?"
"Yes Skye, you are a welcomed guest and you are more than welcome to use it anytime you would like."
"Thank you, Rebekah, for everything."
"Of course, I will let you settle in and come and find me when you are done and we can get to work or whatever you want. Just ask JARVIS and he will tell you where I am."
"Really"
"Ya, just talk out to him and he will answer you. JARVIS say hi to Skye."
"It is nice to meet you, Miss. Skye."
"That is so cool."
"It is pretty cool. I will see you in a little."
"Alright, thank you again. This means a lot to me."
"Of course Skye. You are family to them, so you are family to me." I smiled at her before I walked out and headed to the others.
"So you are bringing people from everywhere now?"
"No dad, but I like her and have worked with her some and she has worked with Mel, Bobbi and others. I trust her, she is a good person and does a lot of amazing things as well. I am going to help her, she needs our help."
"Well, that is more than enough of a reason to help," Steve said.
"I trust May and Bobbi. If they trust her that is all I need to know."
"I'm with Tasha on this one. I trust them as well."
"Count me in, I know what it is like to have people using you for their own agendas. We need to help her so she can use her abilities for herself and good. So that she is never used."
"I can help with control, I have got pretty good at it."
"Yes, and I know how to help with powers because I have my own."
I looked at dad.
"They are all in, are you?"
"Yes, I trust you baby girl and that is all I ever need. You say we can help her then that is what we will do."
"Thank you" he pulled me into a hug.
"Anything for my favorite girl."
After that, we sat down and tried to work out the best way to help Skye and to be able to train her as well.
We came up with a schedule
Training with Nat and me, then working with Bruce on control, Tech with Dad, strength training with Steve, Focus training with Clint, and then power training with Thor.
I planned to go through the day with her just so she didn't feel overwhelmed at first while she was getting to know everyone. I was confident though and had a good feeling that it would work out.
The rest of the night once Skye came out we spent time getting to know one another better and sharing stories and other things.
It was tricky making sure we didn't say anything about Phil but we managed. Though the weight of keeping the secret was getting to me and I knew at some point in time there was a high chance they would be finding out sooner rather than later.
The next morning I met Nat and Skye in the gym.
"So you have trained with May?"
"I have, she has still been training me."
"That's good. That means that you already have a good start."
"So where do we start?"
"Show me what May has taught you," Nat told her.
She showed us what she could do then Nat and I showed her other things to try.
"Also remember, most guys will underestimate you because you are a woman and you can use that to your advantage. Peggy always told us, girls, to remember that. The guys she worked with after the war always underestimated her and that was how she was able to do everything that she did and was able to kick butt the way that she did. Just remember that you hold the upper hand."
"So use the fact I'm a girl against them, got it."
"Come on Bruce is waiting for us." I picked up some water out of the mini fridge and handed them both one before we set goodbye and parted ways.
We found Bruce and I watched as he talked Skye through different techniques she could use to help control her powers and not let them control her.
They had been working for a little over an hour when dad came in.
"So you ready to amaze me with your skills?"
"I think I can do that."
"Come with me." Dad walked out and Skye thanked Bruce before we followed him.
Once in his lab, he showed Skye around a bit.
"So show me what you got."
Then the next two hours were full of me watching them and trying to keep up as Skye showed him holes in security and he showed her different things.
I understood some of it but some I had no idea what they were saying.
This had always been dad's world and not what I was good at. So I was fine letting Skye do this with him because she understood all of it and I could tell she was relaxing some as well which was good.
"How long have they been going?" Steve asked, walking up behind me and causing me to jump a little.
"Two hours give or take"
"I'm sorry I startled you."
"It's fine Steve, I guess I was really focused on them."
"They seem to get along."
"They do, I figured they would as they got to know each other. Just like you and him."
"He takes some time."
"That he does. So time to come with you?"
"If you are ready. I figured we could work for a little before a lunch break."
"That sounds good to me."
Getting up I walk over to them and stop in front of the desk neither noticing me at first.
"Guys, time to move on. Next lesson and then lunch so let's get going. You can nerd out after dinner."
"Right, follow the good Captain and the daughter boss."
"Who else would keep you on task when Pepper is not here? Come on Skye off to strength training."
Saying bye to dad we made our way back to the gym.
"Now heads up I am not anywhere as good as you. My old team talked about you some and you are a super soldier and I am well not sure what I really am but I'm not that."
"Don't worry we will start off slow."
Once in the gym, we got started.
I helped Steve show her some things she could use if going against a guy bigger than her. Then watched them work on other moves she could use to help her.
Before we knew it an hour and a half had passed and we headed to the kitchen for lunch.
Lunch was calm and easy flowing. We all talked and laughed having some much-needed fun after all of the crazy that had happened the last little while.
Once done with lunch we headed down with Clint to a shooting range.
"You know how to use a gun right?"
"May has been working with me so yes."
"Good, now have you ever used a bow before?"
"No"
"Good, you are going to learn. The thing with a bow is you need to have complete control and focus. Especially if you want to hit your target. Rebekah show her how it is done."
He handed me the bow and I took it before placing the arrow and lining up my shot.
"Now pay attention to what she does. She has been working on this with me and she is good. The thing though is to be one with the bow and to trust your aim."
I waited until Clint gave a slight nod before taking the shot and hitting the center of the bullseye.
"Wow"
"See you can do that as well if you apply yourself and practice."
We then proceeded to show her a few more times before she tried as well.
After a while, she was getting the hang of it and hitting the targets which was good.
Once we finished with Clint we went to find Thor.
"You know this is your first day and you are already doing so well."
"Thanks, I feel good. I don't feel like I am going to hurt everyone here today."
"Because you are not going to hurt anyone. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for, you know that right?"
"I hope I am. I have not used my powers yet today though."
"Don't worry, Thor knows what he's doing. He will be able to help you."
"What if he finds out about Sif coming here?"
"It will be fine, if he does I will take care of it. Don't worry you have got this."
We found Thor and got to work.
"Now first you need to show me what you can do."
"Are you sure I don't want to hurt anyone?"
"Yes, don't worry you won't hurt anyone at all."
"Alright." Skye then showed us how she could shake things and then feel as if she was hurt.
Running over to her we helped her up.
"Are you alright? Does this always happen?"
"I pull my powers in somehow, to keep others safe. I don't get it completely."
"Well first don't hold them back that is how people get hurt. Second, you need to trust yourself with what you are doing."
Thor then got to work showing her how to feel her power without holding it in or pulling it back on herself.
I watched amazed and surprised as they continued to work and I saw the strength that she had.
"She could be an avenger." I heard dad say, turning around I saw the others behind me and smiled.
"I think she could be so much more," I tell them as we all watch.
After a while, they finish and turn to see everyone watching them."
"Hello"
"You are doing really well Skye"
"Thanks, Rebekah, So what is next?"
"Well, next Bucky is going to help you some. With having powers like you do people will try to use you and Bucky knows about that. So next you work with him. Then we have dinner. Sound good?"
"Sounds good to me."
Dad had JARVIS call for dinner and Skye worked with Bucky.
I sent a message to both Mel and Phil but heard nothing from them which had me worried but I would deal with it in the morning. I was tired after a day of training and figured they were also busy as well.
Once she was done with Bucky we did have dinner and watched a movie before all heading off to bed.
Two days later things were going really well and Skye was doing good when I finally got a call from Mel.
"About time I have been worried. What is going on?"
"A lot, the main thing being there is another group of SHIELD."
"What do you mean?"
"Bobbi and Mack are part of it."
"Rebekah I am sorry I have kept this from you but I thought I was doing the right thing."
I took a breath before responding.
"It's fine we will deal with all of that later. So what is the other part?"
"They want Skye and Coulson, who is out trying to keep Skye safe. She is safe right?"
"Of course, she is eating with the Avengers as we speak."
"Rebekah, do you know what Theta Protocol is?"
"Let me guess the new SHIELD is asking questions and wants to know and wants you not to trust him?"
"She's good," Bobbi said.
"She's the best, So do you know?"
"I do, and I promise it is not what anyone thinks it is. It is something Fury set up for an Avengers-level threat. That is all I can say, but trust me things will all make sense soon. There are so many moving pieces and you have to trust him and me that we know what we are doing. There is a lot going on right now and a lot of things still need to be fixed because of what Hydra did. I will keep Skye safe and you all take care of things there but remind them that yes he runs things there but I am in charge and I make the final say no matter what anyone else says."
"Stay safe there, I will be in touch as soon as I can. Tell her hi for us."
"I will, I will talk to you both soon."
"Sounds good." We say goodbye and get off the phone. Things were about to get complicated.
Then again I was getting very good with the complicated things in my life that were slowly becoming my new normal in life.
All I could hope for was that whatever was about to happen would not be as bad as I feared it would be.
