The airship landed at the docks of Beacon Academy and everyone stepped off the ship. Yang and Ruby marveled at the sight of the school.

But inside Ruby's mind, she was thinking. "Mom said the Relics are underneath the schools. Some nights, I'll have to see if I can locate the Vault so Cinder can open it and retrieve the Crown of Choice." She thought to herself.

"Vale's view has nothing on this." Yang said.

Ruby smirked at some of the weapons she saw. "Oooh, that fire sword looks really nice!" She said.

"They're just weapons, Ruby." Yang said.

"No, Yang. They're not just weapons." She said and sighed.

"There's more to people than weapons, Ruby. If you'd spent more time in civilization and not the forest, you'd know that." Yang then realized that she'd stuck her boot in her mouth and sighed. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that."

"It's okay, Yang." Ruby said. "I may not have spent much time outside of the forest, but I can work on my social skills here at school."

"...In that case, is it okay if I catch up with my friends?"

Ruby nodded with a smile. "Yeah. I'll catch up later."

With that, the blonde and her friends bolted past Ruby, unintentionally spinning her around which resulted in her falling into luggage.

"Are you insane?!" A girl asked. Ruby saw a girl in a white dress with long naturally white hair in a ponytail on the right side of her head.

"Sorry." Ruby said.

"Sorry?! With this Dust from the Schnee quarry, you could've caused a lot of damage!" The girl said, shaking a bottle of red Dust in her hand, causing Ruby to let out a sneeze whiskey resulted in an explosion of fire, ice, and lightning. The bottle flew to two people, a boy with a blue metal wolf styled helmet on his head and a girl with a black bow on her head. Like Ruby, the boy had silver eyes while the girl had yellow eyes.

"This is what I'm talking about!" The white haired girl said.

"I'm sorry, alright?!" Ruby snapped.

"You're a bit young to be at this school, aren't you? This is not a kid's combat school! We're training to fight monsters!"

"How many damn times do I have to say sorry, you stuck up princess?!"

"Heiress, actually." The boy said. "This is Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the world's largest producers of energy propellant."

Weiss smirked. "Some recognition, at last."

"The same infamous company with controversial labor forces and questionable business partners." The black haired girl said.

"Ouch! Nice one, Blake!" The boy said then looked at Ruby. "I'm Lapis, by the way. Lapis Lazuli, Defender of the Four Kingdoms."

"I think Tyrian said he encountered this guy in Anima once." Ruby thought to herself .

Lapis was a guy famous for protecting villages and the four main Kingdoms of Atlas, Mistral, Vacuo, and Vale, which is how he became known as the Defender of the Four Kingdoms.

"Of course..." Weiss grumbled. "The prideful Lazuli legacy lives on at Beacon."

"At least my family had honor, unlike yours." Lapis sneered.

Weiss glared at him and tried to formulate a response, only to snatch the bottle from Blake and storm off towards the school.

Ruby scoffed then saw Lapis and Blake walking away. She sighed.

"Rough day?" A boy asked and Ruby saw it was the boy who threw up on the ship. "I'm Jaune."

"Ruby. You're Vomit Boy, right?" She asked. "The guy who threw up on the ship?"

"Motion sickness is more common than people think." Jaune said.

"Vomit Boy came to mind first."

"Then how do you feel about the name Crater Face?"

"That explosion was accidental."

"Jaune Arc is the name. It's short, it's sweet, it rolls off the tongue, and the ladies love it."

"Do they?"

"They will, eventually."

Ruby rolled her eyes when Jaune wasn't looking. "So...I have this." She said and unfolded Crescent Rose into its scythe form.

"Is that...a scythe?" Jaune shaking asked.

"It's also a gun. This baby saved my life many times in the past. You got a weapon?"

He pulled out his sword, Crocea Mors. "This sword." He said then had his shield attached to his left forearm. "And this shield."

"Do either of them change into anything?"

After a slight issue with his shield, he cleared his throat. "The shield gets smaller so 8 can put it away when I'm tired of carrying it."

"Doesn't it weigh the same no matter what?"

"Yeah."

"...I guess I went a little overboard in designing it."

"You made that thing?"

"Sure did. Had to design something to protect myself as I grew up. What about your sword? You make it?"

"No. It was my great-great grandfather's, actually. He used it in the war."

"Ugh...he has a family heirloom." Ruby thought to herself. "I like it. Not a lot of people appreciate a classic anymore."

Jaune smiled softly as Ruby out her scythe away. The two soon saw students headed towards the amphitheater and headed there too.

Ruby spotted Yang and walked to her. The princess looked mad.

"Everything okay, sis?" The blonde asked.

"Not really. I tripped over a bitchy girl's luggage then she yelled at me, shaking a bottle of Dust. Then I sneezed, causing an explosion and she yelled at me again." Ruby replied.

"Excuse me?!" Weiss snapped.

"Ugh! One moment of peace, please! Does this girl already have a crush on me?!" Ruby thought to herself as she glared at Weiss.

"We're lucky you didn't blow us over the cliff!"

"How many times do I have to say it was an accident?!" Ruby snarled while Weiss just held a booklet called "Dust for Dummies and Other Inadequate Individuals".

"If you want to make things up to me, read this and never speak to me again."

Ruby took the booklet then just let it fall to the floor, and Weiss' jaw dropped.

"I am painfully familiar with how to use Dust, princess, or heiress, or whatever you want to be called. I use Dust ammo for Crescent Rose. So, I don't need a cute little booklet given to me by some snobby girl to teach me what I learned the hard way."

"Okay, look...maybe you two just got off on the wrong foot. Why not start over and try to be friends?" Yang interjected.

"Hell will freeze over before I'm friends with this bratty ass girl." Ruby thought to herself before calmly extending her hand. "My name is Ruby, Weiss. Why don't we try to hang out?"

"Totally! We can paint our nails, try on new clothes, and talk about cute boys like him!" Weiss said sarcastically while pointing at Jaune.

Ruby narrowed her eyes. "I'm not as stupid as you think I look."

Weiss rolled her eyes then Ozpin cleared his throat and all eyes turned to him.

"I'll be brief. You came for knowledge to further home your craft to dedicate your lives to protecting the people afterwards. I simply see wasted energy among you all, the need for purpose and direction. You believe knowledge will free you from this, but here, you will all learn that knowledge will get you so far. The first step is yours to take." He said.

"You'll all be sleeping in the ballroom tonight, but initiation begins tomorrow." Glynda said.

"That was weird." Yang said.

"Like he wasn't even there." Ruby agreed. "I'll catch up with you later, Yang." She said then left the amphitheater. "Now...let's find that Vault..."

That's chapter four

In the past, I have had Lapis depicted as a girl but originally, I'd planned to test both genders out for Lapis and while writing out this chapter, I figured this story would be a good start to test it out in, since this story will follow the plot of the show

Review, favorite, and follow then more chapters will come
